A/n: The idea came from a batfam tiktok I saw but the last bit is my personal touch. Also just the fact that as smart as all these people are individually, let's not forget that collectively, they have one brain cell and that belongs to Babs.

When Oracle is too sick or tired to be on comms and everyone's needed, the batfam use bird calls to communicate.

The Gothamites got confused the first couple of times but then got used to it and would try to mess them up by making their own birdcalls. Thankfully each of the batfam have specific enough patterns and/or birds that they imitate so they can usually tell between random civilians having fun with them or one of their own actually saying something.

A problem did occur one night though where a real owl hooting caused so much confusion between the boys. Barbara was sick, so she'd taken the night off but they were being too loud and she decided to just listen in on the comms anyway (they didn't know that).

Eventually they rendezvoused on a random rooftop to figure out wtf was going on. It went something like: "Why were you telling me to go hang my helmet on the wall?" "Why were you telling me to put mouse in a dumpster underground?" "That wasn't me!"

Then the owl hooted again and since they were all there, they had to check that they were all there. "One… two… what was the most recent count of Bruce's kids? Are we sure everyone is here?"

Then Barbara finally had to step in - because really, how stupid could this bunch be sometimes? - and told them. "Guys, none of your birdcalls are that good to be confused with a real owl, come on. It wasn't any of you. It was an actual owl."
