A/n: Inspired by the fact that I had a physics question in my homework about the Batmobile.

One day, in the early days of Dick becoming Robin, Alfred picked up a very giggly and excited Dick. He refused to say what had made him so happy until he got home and could tell Bruce and Alfred at the same time because "it won't be as funny if I tell it two times".

He'd run inside as soon as they'd gotten home, Dick immediately going to Bruce's office. Alfred didn't stop him because he knew that while Bruce was in a meeting, it was just a phone call with Mr. Fox who would understand if Bruce had to take a five minute break to talk to his son.

"Dick? I'm in a - " Bruce paused, seeing the grin on the younger boy's face bringing out a small smile of his own. "Give me a sec, okay chum? If you'd excuse me for a few minutes, Mr. Fox, I have some urgent business to deal with."

"Of course."

"Thank you. I'll be right back." Bruce walked out into the hallway where Dick was practically bouncing off the walls with a slightly-crumpled piece of paper in his hands. "Okay, Dick what's got you so excited?"

"Yes, Master Dick, I must admit I've become quite curious as well."

Bruce raised an eyebrow. "You don't know, Alfred?"

"The boy refused to tell me without you also being present to hear, Master Bruce."

"Huh…. So what's up, chum?"

"Look at the questions in my homework," Dick said, holding out the paper proudly.

Bruce read them, Alfred peeking over his shoulder but just before Bruce could understand what had gotten him so excited about them, Dick explained.

"There's a question about how fast the Batmobile goes. And there's a question about Batman and Robin. But it says you swing faster than me, which isn't true," - he frowned, but the smile was quick to return - "but there's a question about me!"

Bruce couldn't help but laugh, and even Alfred cracked a smile.

"Good job, chum," Bruce chuckled, ruffling Dick's hair. He was glad that the young boy could get so excited over such a little thing - being recognised as Robin, or the fact that he was in their homework.

"Very good, Master Dick," Alfred smiled. "Though I expect you to finish the homework in time if you wish to prove you swing faster than Master Bruce tonight."

"Yes, Alfred," Dick sighed, but nothing could get him down for long today. "You can go back to your work now, Bruce. I'm going to go find out how fast the Batmobile goes." He quickly hugged Bruce then ran off to do his homework, leaving two very-amused men outside Bruce's office.

A/n: It could have been its own fic, but I think it's just better off here ;) I haven't actually read any comics that have Dick as Robin, but I do imagine he was an energetic little kid who would get excited about little things like that. I, myself definitely got to excited when I saw the Batmobile question in my homework - not like super excited but then again, I temporarily got excited over physics homework - so it's plausible.

Anyway, stay safe, be nice, and see ya soon.
