1998
It was the summer. Sasha was five, she was about to start school, about to turn six, too. It was hard knowing how much she was missing but good knowing she was supporting her. She kept two pictures on her, one of her and Robert that was old and worn, and one of her and Sasha. She hoped that Robert would be proud of her for giving their daughter the best. She struggled knowing that her career choice would have been an issue but to be honest life would be different if he had came back.
She sometimes let her mind wonder to the life they would have had had they been able to get it back on track. Sometimes it hurt too much. Right now it would hurt more than anything. Instead she picked up the phone to call Sasha.
"Hello?" Sasha had gotten into the habit of wanting to answer the phone all the time.
"Darling, it's mummy. I miss you." Holly was so happy to hear her voice.
Sasha got so excited her words were running together. "RalphieandImissyou, too! Are you coming to see me?" She asked.
Catherine noticed it was Holly on the phone and was letting Sasha talk to her mom.
"As soon as I can. Mummy is busy taking care of you and Nonna but I'm missing you every day. I'm always in your heart." Holly told her daughter, this truly broke her heart but Sasha was cared for and protected.
"Come see me soon, please." Sasha told her as she hugged her stuffed wallaby.
"As soon as I can my darling. I love you so much." Holly told her daughter, knowing how badly she wanted her to be there.
"I love you." Sasha didn't want to get off the phone but knew her Nonna wanted to talk to Holly, too. She gave her the phone and went back to playing.
"Hi, Holly. Are you okay?" Catherine asked her daughter.
"As good as I can be. I've almost got this done and then I'm going to come spend a few days with you all." Holly told her mom, ready to spend time with her daughter.
"Sasha will love that, so will I." Catherine told her daughter, she knew this wasn't the life Holly wanted but this was the best they coud do.
Robert's location
Robert at this point did his best to not keep up with anything from his past life, it hurt too much. He knew they were alive and that was enough. When the nights got quiet it was hard, though. He looked out the window, looking at the stars. Holly was on his mind, she usually was. What would they have been doing with their life now? Would they have had children?
Holly's hotel room
Holly looked at the sky after getting off the phone, life was not how they had planned it. She felt like she was a mother in name only most days. It was hard, and she knew it was hard on Sasha, too. She looked up at the sky, tears falling from her eyes. "Oh, Robert."
