Neb: I do not own Hunter X Hunter
Yujima headed down the halls of the library keeping his eyes peeled. He heard Yuni laughing maniacally not to long ago, until he abruptly stopped. So he figured the psycho was probably killed by one of the other competitors. He came across Zata's dead body and not to far away from it was Yuni's head laying on the ground. "Little overboard," Yujima admitted. Zata was a target, so chances are it was Minaga who killed her and Yuni. That meant there were only three targets left before Minaga gets his revenge. The Star Pupil and the two men. They hadn't even become hunters yet and Minaga is already almost done with his mission.
"How goes it sir?", the white rose man spoke up behind Yujima. Kenari Kazeta leaned back against the bookshelf as he sniffed the white rose he carried in his front shirt pocket. "Having trouble finding that last page? So am I."
"Last page?", Yujima responded. "How do you know?"
"I circled around this library a couple dozen times," Kazeta explained. "None of the other competitors are around and those two are dead. So that must mean there is only one page left."
"So did you come here to kill me?", Yujima wondered. "Make the odds end up in your favor?"
"Kill the first person to land a decent blow on Agro? Unlikely," Kazeta laughed. "No, I figured we could find it together. Then when we find it, we'll play a game. Whoever wins the game can move on to the next round. The loser... Well the loser will have to just come back next year. Agreed?"
"Are you sure about this?", Yujima wondered. "This won't make passing the round any easier."
"Actually," Kazeta spoke up. "This is the only way to pass. This part of the exam is on a time limit and we only have twenty minutes left before we both lose. I may increase the odds of you passing by offering this deal, but I insure that we won't both go home. Do you understand?"
"Fair enough," Yujima smiled. "So how do we go about finding the page?"
"Well we uncovered pretty much every book in the library," Kazeta explained. "So it isn't hidden in a book. That would mean there is a test. We need to figure out the test in order to find the answer."
"That seems more complicated, especially when we only have twenty minutes."
"Nineteen and counting down," Kazeta corrected him. "So, I was thinking, the last page must be where we would least expect it."
"And where would that be?", Yujima wondered.
"If it isn't around is, then it must be on us," Kazeta continued. "If it isn't in a book or on a shelf, then there is only one explanation. We already have the page."
"If only I could use Gyo," Yujima responded. "Bet every book in here is covered in nen."
"That's it," Kazeta responded. "The pages are laced with nen."
"Didn't you hear me," Yujima facepalmed. "All the pages in this room are covered in nen."
"But we aren't," Kazeta went on. "Don't you get it, if it is on us, then nen was used to place the page on us. Therefore, if we use Gyo, we can find the page if we focus it only on ourselves and ignore the rest of the library."
Yujima was really confused by this guy. He thinks in the same terms Minaga does. Process of elimination. Then again, when has Minaga ever been wrong.
"Fine," Yujima decided. "I think I understand these test now."
"What do you mean?", Kazeta responded.
"Didn't you find it odd, they only wanted nen users to pass the first exam. Then honest people to pass the second. Now smart people to pass part two of the second exam. They already had in mind who was to become hunters. Nen is a rare ability, so I would imagine it isn't often twelve nen users find their way to the Hunter Exams all at once."
"Yes I agree," Kazeta admitted. "Let alone trained Nen users. They expected our arrival and insured all the extras wouldn't pass by having Agro be the first Examiner. They wanted to study this unlikely circumstance."
"Exactly," Yujima nodded. "Now these next tests are to remove the weakest links among nen users."
"Or at least the most simple minded and dishonest," Kazeta agreed as he stared at Yuni's dismembered head. "Still, I would have thought that Zata girl was smarter by first glance."
Yujima wasn't going to give away that Minaga assassinated her. So he stayed quiet. "Anyways, let's use Gyo."
"Agreed."
The two of them used Gyo on each other. They lowered their aura, so that the only nen they'd be able to spot was that of Aki's.
"There's writing," Yujima spoke up. "I see the red page."
"I see it as well," Kazeta agreed. "All the words are jumbled up."
"So then this game you spoke of," Yujima began. "Do you want whoever solves this first to be the game."
"Sure," Kazeta smiled. "We will settle this with the page being our competition."
"The writing on you says the answer lies up and down," Yujima read.
"The writing on you says the answer lies up and down," Kazeta scowled. "Very vague." He looked down with his gyo while Yujima looked up, yet nothing seemed to show.
Yujima turned off his Gyo and stared at the ceiling. "There's some impressive art on the ceiling."
"I've got nothing," Kazeta sighed. He pulled up his rose and waved it underneath himself carving a hole in the ground. "I'll keep going down and you keep going up."
"This might be a time waster," Yujima pointed out. "We don't have a lot of time left in this challenge."
"True," Kazeta shrugged. "But we have nothing else. Only one of us well find the answer. I wish you luck." Kazeta jumped down the hole and Yujima was about to jump upwards. That was when he remembered something.
Yujima turned around and headed towards a green children's book, called up and down. "It can't be this," Yujima chuckled. He reached for the book, and when he grabbed it. He flipped through the pages. "The frog goes up and then goes down. The bird goes up and then goes down. Kazeta goes down, but doesn't go up. Yujima finds the up and down. Yujima actually did research by reading the books. That's why Yujima goes up and Kazeta goes down... What an odd book?"
"Yeah, real mystery," Minaga responded behind him causing Yujima to jump. He turned around to see Minaga, Yane, and Dendo standing with the rest of the competitors who past the first part of the second exam.
"Congratulations," Aki began. "The Nine of you will be moving on to the third and final round of the Exam."
Agro stepped forward and grinned at them. "You have showed strength, wits, and most importantly the ability to survive under pressure. I wish you all the best of luck moving forward."
