They had been friends all their lives. From a group of mischievous boys that enjoyed tormenting people by either knocking on their doors and running away before they answered. Or prank calling grocery stores and asking them if they had Olive Oil in a bottle and telling them they better let her out or Popeye was going to get mad when they said they did. To rambunctious teens who would snap girls' bras and try to look up their skirts by "conveniently" making it seem like all they were doing was looking at their shoes. They had always had fun together and except for the occasional good natured rough housing there had never been any physical altercations between any of them.

Until now.

Philly, Joey, Eddie, Pee Wee, and Vinnie all stared at each other and Tony in shock. Tiny held the side of his cheek looking up at Tony, a mixture of fear and surprise in his expression. For his part Tony looked like a raging bull. His face was red and his nostrils were flaring.

"Would you mind repeating that?" Tony asked, his voice as cold as ice.

"Uh..Tony..I…" Tiny stammered.

"Micelli! What the hell was that for?" Vinnie glared at him.

Tony shot him a look. "You stay out of this. This is between him and me." He pointed to Tiny and himself.

"I will not. Tiny is my friend. He's our friend and you just punched him!"

"Well he shouldn't have said what he did about Angela." Philly said.

"Yeah that was a low blow." Joey put in.

Always the peacemaker, Eddie turned to Vinnie and Tiny. "I think maybe it would be best if you got out of here."

"Yeah, that's not a bad idea." Vinnie said. He held his hand out to Tiny. "Come on." Vinnie pulled him up and Tiny turned to Tony.

"Tony, I…" But Tony didn't give him a chance to finish; he walked away from him, his fists clenched at his side muttering Italian swear words.

Vinnie motioned for Tiny to follow him and they left the way that they had come.

"Holy Crap!" Pee Wee shook his head.

'Yeah." Joey sighed.

"Come on guys." Philly walked over to Tony and the other guys followed.

"You okay Tony?" Eddie asked, patting him on the back.

Tony turned around his face red and streaked with tears.

"No, I am not okay! For God's sake I just hit Tiny! We have been friends for practically our whole lives!"

"Yeah, but he shouldn't have said what he did about Angela." Pee Wee said.

"He's right." Joey said.

"I'm just….I'm going crazy. I don't know where the hell Angela is or if I'll ever see her again." He screamed and punched a tree in frustration.

"Tony, I know you don't want to hear this right now but I think the best thing for you to do is go home and get some rest." Eddie said.

"I can't! Are you kidding me?!"

"Well you can't go on like this! I mean look at you. Your eyes are practically bloodshot. You haven't eaten or slept in hours. You are no good to Angela or to anyone else right now!" Philly reprimanded him.

"You know I could call Ma and have her drag you out of here by your ear." Joey said in an attempt to lighten the mood.

Tony groaned but was able to manage a small smile.

'Okay, I'll go. But just for a little while."

"I'll go tell the cops over there we're leaving." Pee Wee said.

"Thanks Pal."

Pee Wee went over and talked with the cops for a few minutes. He came back over and informed them that a new group was arriving in about ten minutes to relieve the current group.

"Okay let's go. Hey Tone how about if you let one of us drive?" Eddie said.

"Yeah, yeah." He reached into his pocket and tossed his keys to Eddie

They walked away a group of grown men in fear for their friend's mental health.

"I'm sorry. Did you just say a car went over a cliff?" Sherry asked.

"Yeah, Oh God. Look, tell Kate and Barbara I'm sorry but I'm going to need their help."

Sherry put her hand over the receiver and repeated his message.

"We're on it!" Barbara said and they raced to their E.R. room to get set up.

"They're getting things ready."

"Okay. I need you to call Bill and Ron"-he told her referring to his two ambulance drivers

"Okay. Where exactly are you?"

"I'm about twenty minutes east from the clinic. "

"Okay, I'll call them."

"Thanks Sherry." They hung up and he pulled off the side of the road and got out. Luckily the rain had calmed down to a small drizzle. He grabbed his medical bag and his harness and wrapped the harness around him. As luck would have it he was an experienced mountain climber. He walked over to the edge of the cliff and estimated it to be about twenty feet. He looped the medical bag over his arm and proceeded down the cliff. Once he was finally on the ground he raced over to Angela's car and peered in.

"Oh my God!" He gasped. He shook his head. "Focus! You need to focus." He grabbed the door handle and yanked it open. He felt for a pulse and was relieved to find out she was still breathing. He looked around for her purse but didn't see anything.

"Jeremy! You down there?" He heard Bill yelling.

"Yeah! You got the stretcher ready?"

"Yep! Hey, we bought George with us. He's going to drive your car back for you."

'Okay!"

While Ron and George lowered the stretcher Bill climbed down the cliff and went over to Jeremy.

"How are they?"

"She's alive. Thank goodness."

"Is she the only one?"

"Yeah, come on and help me get her out."

Jeremy unbuckled her seatbelt and they gently removed her from the car. Jeremy picked her up and carried her over to the stretcher and strapped her in.

"Okay she's ready! But be very careful! I can't lose her!"

"We won't boss!" Ron assured him.

They started pulling her back up while Jeremy and Bill climbed back up the cliff. Once they were back on the roadside they put Angela in the back of the ambulance. Ron got behind the wheel while Jeremy and Bill got in back with Angela. George got in Jeremy's car and they drove at top speed to the clinic….

They arrived back at the house hot, tired, and frustrated. No one had said a word the entire ride all of them lost in their own thoughts. Every once in a while Joey would look at Philly and Philly would just shake his head. For a group of guys that normally never shut up the silence was deafening. Eddie pulled into the driveway and they all got out and walked to the front door.

"Oh my God you guys! I can't go in there!" Tony groaned.

"Why not?" Pee Wee asked.

"Because I told Mona I would find Angela! I promised her!"

"It's going to be okay. She'll understand." Eddie assured him.

Tony nodded and opened the door.

"Dad! Did you find her?"

"Yeah, where's my Mom?"

The guys walked in and looked at Tony with pity and anguish in their eyes making him feel a million times worse than he had before.

He turned towards Sam and Jonathan who were standing before him, hope and fear mirrored on their faces.

He shook his head. "I'm sorry guys. I-we-I couldn't find her."

Mona who had been sitting on the couch and not saying a word got up and walked slowly towards him. She looked up at him, her expression blank. They stared at each other for a few more seconds.

"Mona, I'm so…"

SLAP!

They all gasped in shock.

"Grandma!" Jonathan yelled.

"You bastard! You lied to me! You said you would bring my little girl back! " Mona screamed at him.

"Mona, please I did-we did- " he started crying.

Mona started pounding on his chest.

"This is all your fault! Angela is probably dead because you are a selfish bastard who behaved like a spoiled little boy who didn't get his way. " She gave him an icy glare.

"I hate you Tony Micelli. I hate you." With those words lingering in the air she turned and walked away and walked out the patio door slamming it behind her.
