Chapter 29 Feelings Put Into Song
Ichika's POV

The next day at practice, I told my bandmates about the Virtual Singer concert.

"A Virtual Singer concert in Shibuya", Airi asked.

"That's right", I replied. "I saw an ad for it yesterday, and it's happening pretty soon."

"Have you ever been to a Virtual Singer concert before, Ichika", Ena asked.

"Yes", I replied. "I started going to them when I was middle school, and I've been to a few ever since."

"Have you ever been to one, Ena-Senpai", Saki asked her.

"Nope", Ena replied.

"Me Neither", Airi added. "But, earlier this year, I remember seeing some footage from a Virtual Singer concert that was available online for a limited time."

"I saw that too", Saki revealed. "Ichi-Chan showed me it. It looked super cool, and it made me want to see what actually going to a Virtual Singer is like."

"In that case", Airi started. "Why don't we all go to the Virtual Singer concert?"

"Sure", Ena replied. "Why not?"

"Then it's settled", Saki said. "Youthful/Friends is going to a Virtual Singer concert!"

The day of the Virtual Singer concert had arrived, and we were all waiting in line at the venue.

"Wow", Saki said in awe. "This place is packed!"

"It sure is", Airi agreed. "The Virtual Singers are really popular, aren't they?"

"They sure are", Ena replied.

"Yes", I agreed. "The songs Miku sings have reached so many people."

After I said this, a smile came to my face.

"Even though I've seen it before, I can't wait to see Miku perform."

We were in the venue, waiting for the show to begin. After we had been waiting for some time…the lights suddenly dimmed.

"It's starting", I said excitedly.

Then, music started playing, and the screen on the stage suddenly lit up! An introduction for each of the Virtual Singers were shown, with Miku being the last. After the introductions were done, everybody started chanting, and then…Miku appeared on the stage! The instrumental for the first song began playing, and then…Miku began singing.

As she performed, I watched her in awe.

Miku is amazing!

After I thought this, I continued to watch Miku's performance. Once the song was done,

she waved to the audience.

"Hello everyone", she greeted. "Thank you so much for coming to watch us perform today! We all hope you have a wonderful time! We have a bunch of songs we plan on singing: Songs created by people just like you! So let's get to it!"

And so, Miku and the others performed many different songs. As I was listening to her final song, I thought about how I felt about Miku.

Miku may not be real, but the feelings in the songs she sings are! So many people, all with different feelings, goals and dreams, create songs for her to sing. And so many different kind of people listen to these songs, and can connect to them.

After I had this thought…I was suddenly hit with inspiration!

I know what feelings I want to put into my lyrics now!

The concert was over, and we had just exited the venue.

"That was so much fun", Saki exclaimed.

"I have to admit, I wasn't sure if watching singers who aren't actually real was going to be worth it", Ena revealed. "But I actually had a really fun time."

"The atmosphere was amazing", Airi said. "It made me think of what it would be like to perform in a show like that."

"What did you think of it, Ichi-Chan", Saki asked me.

"It was amazing", I replied. "I've done it before, but whenever I get to see Miku perform in person, it always makes my heart race."

"I'm glad that you enjoyed it, Ichika", Airi said, before changing the subject. "So, what do you guys wanna do now?"

"We could get something to eat", Ena suggested.

"Great idea, Ena-Senpai", Saki said. "All that cheering has made me hungry!"

"Sorry, everyone", I apologized. "I'm actually going to skip the meal and go home."

"Huh", Saki said in confusion. "You wanna head home already, Ichi-Chan? How come?"

"When I was trying to think of lyrics for our song, I was struggling to figure out what I wanted to write", I revealed. "But, when I watched Miku perform, I realized what feelings I want to put into my lyrics. I want to head home and write those feelings down while they are still fresh in my mind."

"That's great, Ichika", Airi said.

"Don't let us keep you up then", Ena added.

"Right", Saki agreed. "Head home and work on those lyrics, Ichi-Chan!"
