Jordan- 8

Chicago is known before extremely bad winters. A bad storm was close to hitting the midwest and they would be smack in the middle of it. The temperatures were already below normal temperatures.

Jordan hadn't gone to school due to the weather, the roads were already icy from the hail from the night before and the streets had a light blanket of snow. Justin had stayed back to watch his sister while their father had to go to work. Hank had come down bundled up in layers of clothing.

"You look warm Pop" Justin said.

"The storm is supposed to hit tonight, hopefully I make it home before then. I shouldn;t be long". Hank replied.

"Do you have to go at all?"

"I just gotta make sure some stuff is wrapped up".

Jordan had gone to her father. "Can I go with you daddy?"

The older father smiled and bent down to her level. "I'd love to have you come sweetheart but it's extremely cold and I don't want you getting sick. I'm sure you'll have fun with your brother"

"I don't want you getting sick or hurt either"

Hank pulled her close, for his little girl to be only 8 she was smart. People drove insane during bad weather and many accidents are the result of them.

"I'll be just fine sweetie, I promise. And like I said you're gonna have so much fun with your brother"

"Can we play outside?"

"As long as you dress warm and it's not for too long"

She smiled and when she did he smiled bigger, her smile reminded him so much of her mother. The little girl kissed his cheek and he kissed her head then patted his son's shoulder and headed out for the district.

As Hank predicted when he left he got caught in the traffic that came with the bad weather. For about a half hour he was in traffic just honking his horn. He regretted leaving his house. I should have just stayed home, Hank thought to himself. This wasn't worth the aggravation.

Meanwhile

Justin had taken his sister to play in the backyard to play for a bit. The winds were brutal and that had told Justin it was time to take his sister in. Once they were in both siblings had changed into dry warm clothes.

It was early afternoon and Hank had only been gone a couple of hours, Jordan was bored so she had turned on the tv and started flipping through the channels. Justin went to check on his sister.

"Jo Jo, whatcha want for lunch?" He says to his sister.

"Mac and cheese with chicken strips" She glanced at her brother with a smile.

He returned the smile. "Chocolate milk or hot chocolate?"

"Hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows".

"Not a lot of sugar little missy"

She giggled and went back to her show. Justin made lunch, he peeked out the window and saw it was starting to snow again a bit heavier. Shit. The storm wasn't supposed to hit later that night after their father had gotten home. Soon the winds started to pick up.

"Please please be ok Pop" Justin muttered while making the food.

While

Hank had finally made it to the district, he had almost been in a couple of fender benders due to the crazy ass drivers. He had made it in one piece. Just as he went inside the snow came and it came heavy, the winds blew fast and it was cold.

"Son of a bitch. I hope I'm not here all night" He told himself.

The older detective had gotten to his office and started his work. As he worked he paid little to no mind about the growing blizzard outside.

By the time Hank had finished his work it was dark and the blizzard had picked up. He left out and saw the sidewalks and streets have been covered and blanketed in heavy snow. His car was buried in at least 6 feet of snow. He was stuck until morning.

"Just great" He muttered.

Pulling out his phone he had called his son.

Justin was finishing dinner when his phone rang, he put his sister's plate on the table in front of her and picked up his phone.

"Hello?" He answered.

"Justin, it's me," Hank replied.

"Pop you ok?"

"I'm fine. I'm not coming home tonight. I got stuck in the blizzard, my car is buried"

"Dammit, what should I tell Jo Jo?"

Jordan hopped down and went to her brother seeing he was on the phone, she tugged his pants leg. Looking down he saw his sister. "Yes Jo Jo?"

"Is that daddy?"

He nodded already knowing the question he passed his phone to his sister. Jordan put the phone to her ear.

"Hi daddy," Jordan says on the phone.

"Hey princess" Hank answered happily.

"Are you coming home soon? Were gonna miss movie night, tonight were gonna watch Lilo and Stitch and if we have time we'll watch Lilo and Stitch 2"

"I'm sorry baby I'm stuck at work. I got caught in the blizzard"

"Are you ok?"

"I'm just fine. I need you to listen to your brother and do as he says. Understand"

"Yes daddy".

"That's my girl. Can i talk to Justin now please"

"I love you daddy"

"I love you too baby".

She gave her brother back the phone and Justin ruffled her hair sending her back to the table to eat.

"Justin-" Hank started.

"I got Jo Jo for the night. No sugar, no horror or scary movies, no staying up late, make sure she goes to bed at a decent time" He rattled off to his father.

"Thank you son, I really appreciate it".

"Not a problem Pop"

"I'll see you both in the morning hopefully"

"We'll see you then"

"I love you both"

"We love you too Pop"

He hung up. Now how was he supposed to keep his little sister distracted till morning? He thought about calling Erin but she was also working. He had no idea.

After they ate Justin cleaned the kitchen and put all the dishes away. Jordan pouted as she still sat at the table. He went over bending down to her.

"What's wrong Jo Jo?"

"I miss daddy, I want him to come home. Can you go get him?"

"I would if I could but all the roads are covered in snow and ice. My car is stuck too".

She held her little head down and sniffed as she wiped her eyes blocking the tears. Justin hated seeing his sister cry.

"We still have time before you gotta go to bed. We can do whatever you want"

"Really?"

"Really"

"Can we play dress up?"

"Sure"

She smiled and ran to get her stuff. He sighed. It's for her he kept telling himself. It's to make her happy. To distract her for the night. The elder Voight was broken out of his thoughts by hearing his sister coming down the steps.

Her little arms are full of stuff. "I'm back Justie"

"Let's see whatcha got kiddo"

She dropped the stuff on the floor, a couple dresses fell along with a brush, hair stuff, makeup and jewelry. Justin smiled seeing them. The things he did for his sister and to make her happy.

"First you gotta get changed, this one is for you" She handed him a bright sky blue dress with glitter on it.

"I'll be right back Princess Jo Jo".

He went to change into the dress, he tried to put it on top of his regular clothes but it was difficult. "Come on dammit don't do this now"

After fighting with the dress Justin changed out of his regular clothes and put the dress on, it felt a little itchy but bearable. He went out to see his baby sister dressed up, she fixed her hair and was caking her face in makeup. Taking a deep breath he went over.

"How do I look Jo Jo?"

The eight- year- old turned and smiled brightly. "You look perfect. Now I gotta do your hair and makeup. Come sit".

It's for her. It makes her happy, he kept telling himself. The elder man went and sat on the floor, once he sat down Jordan got her brush and started to brush his hair. She yanked a couple times but he kept a smile on his face.

After a few ponytails and hair accessories later Jordan was finished with her brother's hair, she then pulled out the makeup. His eyes widened a bit but kept the same smile. Soon his face was covered and caked in makeup. He had bright blue eyeshadow on, bright pink blush, and ruby red lipstick.

"Now you look beautiful"

She gave him a mirror and he took it, he looked horrified but kept the same smile on his face. "I look amazing Jo Jo, you did a great job"

After a small little tea party Justin put Lilo and Stitch in for his sister. She stayed dressed up and curled into her brother's side. Justin smiled seeing his little sister like that.

"Say Jo Jo, why don't we make a fort in the living room and sleep down here so that way when dad comes home we'll already be here"

"Yeah!"

"Go put your pajamas on and I'll get the stuff set up"

The youngest Voight ran excitedly up the stairs to change. Justin took this time to get out of the dress and change into a long sleeve and plaid pajama pants. He quickly took the stuff out of his hair. He had forgotten all about the make up.

A little bit later Jordan came back dressed in purple pajamas, she undid her hair and washed the makeup off, she had her pillow and favorite blanket. Justin was coming out of the hall closet with sheets, blankets, and a few other pillows.

"Let's get started kiddo"

Soon the siblings started to build their fort for the night, once it was up, Jordan sat curled into her brother's lap as they watched the movie. Half way during the movie, Jordan had fallen asleep. Quietly looking down the elder man saw his baby sister fast asleep he carefully picked her up and laid her down.

The eight-year-old stirred. "Justie" She mumbled.

"Shh go back to sleep Jo Jo, I'm right here" He soothed.

She curled up cuddling her stuffed bear, Justin threw the blanket over her and went to cut the light off. He remembered her night light as it shined on the ceiling. Carefully and quietly he went back over he picked up his phone and snapped a picture of his sleeping sister and himself. He sent it to his father. He captioned it.

'Good night Pop, we love you'

He then played some soft music that always helped his sister stay asleep. He laid down next to her and pulled her close holding a protective arm around her he very softly kissed her head. "Sweet dreams Jo Jo"

Back at Hank's office, Hank had a couch in his office in case his kids dropped by. He was laying on it trying to sleep. His phone buzzed with a message from his son. Opening his phone he pulled up the message and had the biggest smile on his face. Seeing his little girl fast asleep curled next to his son, it warmed his heart.

He loved his children with every breath in his body, they were the air in his lungs, his heart beats, his soul. He may have given up love and relationships altogether but at least he'll always have his kids.

He stared at the picture for what seems like hours and very softly kissed his screen. "Good night to you both, I love you too" Then he fell asleep with his phone on his chest.

The following morning, Hank had woken up and saw he was in his office and he looked out the window. The streets were in the process of being cleared and his car was just about cleared.

He went out, got in his car and went home. Justin and Jordan were still asleep. Jordan was fast asleep sucking her thumb on her brother's chest. Justin kept his baby sister close with a protective hand on her back.

Hank made it home and carefully went inside, he quietly went in not knowing if his children were still asleep or not. Once inside he saw his living room was a mess, sheets, blankets, all over. Under one of the blankets Jordan stirred and came out rubbing her eyes. The older father smiled as his baby girl came out.

"Good morning my little sweet pea," Hank said softly.

Her head shot up her hair flying all over, a big smile on her face. "Daddy!" She ran and hugged him.

He chuckled, picking her up. "I missed you too pumpkin"

"Do you like the fort me and Justie made?"

"I love it"

"You wanna come under and see?"

"Absolutely".

She brought her father into the fort she and her brother made, Justin was waking up.

"What's going on?" He muttered.

"Daddy's home Justie see" Jordan told her brother.

He opened an eye. "Pop, hey"

"Hey, what do you say we go make some breakfast and go play in the snow"

"Yeah!" Jordan cheered.

"Let's go"

The three got out of the fort and went to the kitchen, Hank hung back and waited for his son. "Son, why are you wearing makeup"

"What?"

He turned his son's face towards the mirror and Justin groaned. "I thought I got it all"

Hank chuckled. "If anything, blue is your color. Maybe tone down the pink and the red"

He went to go clean his face. After that the small family started making breakfast. Hank had the biggest smile on his face whenever he was with his children.

A/N: So sorry for the long delay. I moved a few months ago and didn't have access to a computer. Here's to Chapter 100! Here's to 100 more!
