I know its been less than 24 hours since the last update but here's a whole new original chapter that wasn't in the previous fic woOOOO!

Somehow, Kai had managed to get up to the 40th floor alone. Mainly this was thanks to everyone else in the lift crowding around Tyson once they had reached the 25th floor and buffeting him out of the lift doors before he could do anything. Ray and Max had even given Kai a small thumbs up that could just about be made out through the glass as the lift had began to ascend again. He should really give them all more credit for trying to keep Tyson in check just for his sake.

The 40th floor looked much the same as the 25th floor, apart from it had a much shorter hallway, comprised of the lift and three other doors. Each one was emblazoned with a number; number 400, number 401 and number 402. Kai took out his keycard and tapped it gently on the card reader outside of door 402 and heard the lock make a satisfying click. He twisted the handle and pushed. Inside was a long hallway with wooden floors and a marble sideboard. It was extremely light and airy and there seemed to be at least five large doors that led to other rooms.

He sighed and wondered whether Voltaire was paying for this out of the kindness of his own heart. Yeah right, thought Kai, he suspected that this was eating dramatically into the first instalment of his trust fund, maybe Voltaire was doing it as some kind of punishment for something that Kai was completely unaware he had even done.

Kai made sure the door was locked behind him and then placed the key on a marble sideboard. He felt a little awkward that the rest of his team would be staying in mere average hotel rooms whilst he had an entire penthouse suite to himself.

He hadn't asked for this, nor did he need it and he stood there for a moment in the lavish hallway trying to justify it to himself. In fact, for one small second he considered inviting the entire team to move all of their bags up to the 40th floor to join him. He was quite sure there would be multiple bedrooms, perhaps a living room and maybe even their own kitchen. It would have been such a nice gesture.

He laughed and quickly changed his mind.

In the past when Kai had stayed in hotels such as this, it had always been with his Grandfather. Kai had never been allowed to give in to his curiosity or show any excitement, but right now, Voltaire was not there, and Kai was. He eagerly marched from one room to the other, taking it all in. There were large windows and plush carpets, gilded edges and polished marble accents. Kai had been right about the living room and kitchen, but not only that, there were four bedrooms, all with on-suite bathrooms- plus an extra bathroom at the end of the hall. His bedroom even had a balcony! Wow, he thought as he finally flung himself down onto the bed.

He stared at the phone on the bedside table. Should he call his Grandfather to say thank you? Or maybe he should ask to change to a smaller room.

No, this was the way his Grandfather worked; extravagant gifts and contempt. Voltaire would never answer his call anyway.

Batting the miserable thought away, Kai noticed that the sun was starting to set over London and that the light streaming through the windows had turned a golden pink. He looked at the time on his watch and realised that he still hadn't changed it to London time. He looked around for a clock and spotted one on his bedside table that read 20:56. It was much later than he thought and he supposed he better shower, order some room service and then go to bed. He wanted to be well rested for the first day of the championships, even if it was just the registration day.

By 6am Kai felt simultaneously wide awake and like he had been hit by a bus. Eventually he had given into the jetlag and was now sat up in bed with his morning coffee and a paper. He had found it lying on the side in the hallway on his way to the kitchen in search of coffee. There was a large double page spread about the Beyblade World Championships and along the lower edge were pictures of competing bladers, many of whom Kai had never met. His eyes were drawn to Isobel Olgivie; he recognized her as the girl they had seen checking into the hotel with her team the previous evening. According to the paper, she had pretty decent stats. He frowned and wondered whether the paper was making it up, he couldn't tell as there was no one else listed there that he knew, so he had nothing to compare her to.

In the past Kai had been known to underestimate people, a prime example being Tyson. He had also underestimated Brooklyn, and despite the fact he managed to get his revenge, that had been pretty close call. How many other incredibly all-powerful naturally talented bladers were out there in the world? Kai would have to watch his back and not let his ego get the better of him. He had to admit to himself that he was just as bad as Tyson, the only difference was Kai displayed his ego in the form of an arrogant grumpy teenager who enjoyed betraying his friends to prove that he was better than them. And lets be honest, Kai thought to himself, that never went to plan.

He looked back down at the girl in the paper, Johnny had described her as 'dangerous' which, rather than worrying Kai, made him more intrigued. Maybe he would get to face her soon, maybe even in tomorrow's match. The competition lineup wouldn't be released until after all the teams had completed their registration, so there was a chance.

Suddenly, the phone rang, jumping Kai out of his thoughts. He stared at it, who would be calling him this early in the morning? It was now half six, much too early for Tyson to be awake. Kai wasn't even sure that Tyson knew that time existed before half 9 in the morning.

He reached over and picked up the phone.

"Hello?" he said and was surprised to hear an angry Russian voice on the other end.

"Kai? KAI? Our sponsor has just DROPPED US. No explanation, no NOTHING!" Tala yelled, "JUST DROPPED US!" Kai could hear a commotion in the background and the sound of phones ringing along with what sounded like a very angry Bryan.

"Wha- Tala?!" Kai pulled the phone away from his ear as Tala continued to rant. The small phone screen read 'internal call' and Kai realised that Tala must be at the reception desk downstairs.

"What are we gonna do?" Kai heard Spencer whine in despair the background.

"I could have been asleep, you know." Kai said bluntly.

Clearly this was the wrong thing to say as Tala growled, "well you're awake now whether you like it or not!"

Then there was a skirmish on the other end of the line and Kai thought he could make out the sound of Bryan saying 'let me talk to him!' whilst trying to wrestle the phone from Tala.

"Would you calm down and explain what's going on?" Kai asked, dispassionately swinging his legs out from under the covers as he spoke.

"CALM DOWN?" Tala shouted, "we've just got to the hotel to find that our rooms have been cancelled- we've got NOWHERE to stay! And THEN we get a phone call from the Russian BBA telling us they've had to cancel our sponsorship! So we've got no hotel! I'm not even sure if we've still got our return flights back to Russia!"

"Maybe we could get a hostel?" Kai heard Byran ask in the background, "where's the nearest hostel?"

"We tried calling Mr Dickinson but he's not answering!" Tala continued as if he hadn't heard Bryan, "do you know what room he's in? This stupid woman wont tell us!"

Kai sighed, "no, no, don't get a hostel," he gazed absently around the hotel room thinking that he already knew the solution, "and do not go banging on Mr Dickinson's door!" he added. Kai could just imagine Mr Dickinson's fright if he were to be awoken by three very angry Blitzkrieg Boys trying to break down his door.

There was silence on the line apart from the hustle and bustle of background noise, "Tala?" Kai asked, wondering if he was still listening. He wasn't- Tala was now having what sounded like a heated exchange with the hotel receptionist. "Stop yelling at the poor receptionist! I'll come sort this out!" and he slammed the phone down wondering if the Blitzkreig Boys were any better than Tyson and Daichi, or if they were just the same level of chaos only in a different font.

Kai quickly shoved on his clothes and rushed into the bathroom to brush his teeth. He observed how his basic blue plastic toothbrush looked so odd against the backdrop of the luxurious marble bathroom. Then- thoughts snapping back to the present, wondered if Tala had managed to get himself forcefully removed from the building yet. He began brushing at top speed. Five minutes later he pulled on his boots, grabbed his keycard and was just about to speed off down the corridor when he noticed the door across the hall was open.

Making her way out was Isobel, the girl he had just been reading about. Kai froze and she did too. They stared at each other, Isobel's eyes wide. She looked quite shocked to see him and Kai had a strange thought that there was something about her face that was oddly familiar. This was the first time he had seen her up close and aside from being conventionally pretty, it struck him that there was something about her that he recognized.

Why was she up on the 40th floor? He wondered, but then he remembered what Johnny had said about her teammate being rich and Tyson's 'Ah yes, theres always at least one rich kid!'

At this point, they had both been standing awkwardly framed in their respective doorways for a good five seconds.

"Oh…" she said, finally stepping out and closing the door behind her with a click, "err, hi!" she said as she turned down the hallway.

"Morning," Kai mumbled.

She was much smaller than him, dressed all in black and wearing a utility belt which had two compartments, one for a blade and one for a launcher. Interest sparked, Kai set off after her, tilting his head slightly to try and get a better idea about what kind of launcher she used. It was a bit difficult to tell as her long hair swayed behind her as she walked, blocking his view.

She pressed the button for the lift and then turned around, Kai looked away quickly.

"Were- were you just checking out my ass?" she asked with a horrified look on her face.

"I- what?" Kai said in disbelief. It was way too early for this. Had he been checking out her ass? Not necessarily. He had he been checking out her beyblade launcher, which in all fairness, was relatively nearby…

"No!" he recovered quickly, "your launcher, I was looking at your launcher!"

She let out a loud, "oh!" of realization and chortled at what Kai could only presume was her own presumption, "sorry, I just assumed."

The lift dinged loudly as the doors slid open and they both walked inside.

"You ass-sumed," he said dryly.

"Wow!" she laughed.

Then there was then an awkward silence as the lift doors closed.

"Y'know, my teammate isn't useless," she said as the lift began to move towards the lower floors. Kai must have looked perplexed because she elaborated, "last night? I heard your friend talking about him. Well, he didn't pay for us to join his team!" she said in earnest.

"Oh," he recalled, "yeah, he's not really my friend." Kai replied, thinking about how he didn't actually like Johnny that much.

"Oh ok, well Tim is just really good at building beyblades, he didn't just buy his way in," she seemed to want to clarify this.

Kai nodded, "Right. So he's your Kenny."

"Uhh yeah, I guess he is," she said looking thoughtful, "he's the guy with no eyes, right?"

Kai couldn't help but let out a small snicker, "he has eyes!"

"Could have fooled me!" she laughed, then there was another pause. "So you're…?"

"Kai," he answered.

"Hmnm," she nodded. Kai had a suspicion that she already knew who he was and was just asking out of politeness, but that wasn't surprising. Every member of the Bladebreakers was, for all intents and purposes, famous within the beyblade community.

They had reached the lobby and the lift doors were sliding open, "well Kai," she said as they stepped from the lift, "maybe I'll see you at registration!" and she sped off towards doors of the hotel. Kai watched her go. She seemed friendly enough, the rest of his team would love her. Then, rather abruptly, Tala's loud complaining voice permeated his ears and Kai was promptly reminded of why he had come down to the lobby in the first place.

He was unsurprised to find that Tala had not yet stopped yelling at the receptionist, and that there were now two burly security guards standing a few feet away from his three old teammates.

"Stop making a scene and go sit over there!" Kai said bluntly as he strode up behind them, "but give me your passports first."

Tala thrust his hand into his pocket, "you hung up on me! I didn't think you were coming down!" he said angrily as Bryan and Spencer presented their passports. Kai nodded at them and held out his hand for Tala's.

"Well I'm here aren't I?" Kai said with his eyebrows raised and Tala gave him an 'I suppose so' look as he too handed over his passport. "Now go sit down so I can sort this mess out."

"Alright fine, thanks.." Tala mumbled.

"Yeah, thanks Kai," said Spencer as Bryan muttered, "thanks man." They all walked off looking decidedly depressed and sat down where the Bladebreakers had found the Majestics the previous evening.

Ten minutes later, after apologizing to the receptionist, registering their passports and activating three more key cards, Kai had managed to get Tala, Bryan and Spencer checked into his room.

"Come on!" he called across the lobby, holding up the key cards. All three of their faces lit up and they sped over to join him.

Tyson was going to absolutely kill him for this.

Ok I had to introduce them earlier because... it would be rude not to! Do leave a review if you enjoyed!
