Codywhite162: well here is the next chapter. I hope you like it

David teague 3950: ok

Dasgun: 0_o

YeagerMeister31: I think I went back and fixed it but I'll go check again. Glad you liked it and here is what happened next

Midnight Lost: it's fine, I know life takes up time. I felt like I had to do that to Mizuki. It almost seemed poetic. He wanted to gain the power of something and so he did. I also felt like I was still building on the world and the characters. I am evil with that cliffhanger, but here is the rest of it.

FenreldStormblade: it's fine. As long as you enjoy the story, I'm good. And possibly

Dragon and Sword Master: I do my best but bloody hell, 7 to 10k words is long and I will miss a few. Thanks for pointing them out so I can fix them

Djinn: thank you

Chapter 7: One problem to another

Link's eyes shot open as he had another nightmare, much like the ones he had been having for the previous weeks. He groaned as he got up from his bed and through dreary eyes, he looked out his window to see that it was morning, which just made him want to go back to sleep. He brought his hand up to scratch his head as he yawned. He noticed that his hat wasn't on his head and looked around for it before he saw that it was on the ground. With it on the ground, he knew that he would have to get up and grab it but if he did that, he knew that he would not be able to go back to sleep after that. Thinking about it for a second, he groaned as he got up from the bed and bent down to pick it up before he put it on his head.

"Link~!"

He looked toward the door before he slowly made his way to it. He stumbled on his carpet for a few steps before he made it to the door and looked down to see Saria waving up at him.

"How long are you going to stay in bed?! Come on, you better not waste the day inside. It's weeding day, so you better get up to get started!"

Link sighed as he had forgotten about that. He waved down at her to let her know that he had heard her before he walked back inside his home and to the large shell he had on the side that had water in it. He splashed some on his face in order to wake up.

The water is something that all the korak have in the trees they live in as it falls from the leaves that cover the whole village and through a natural path that goes from the top of their trees to the shell. A way The great deku tree offers water for them to use in their homes. Though they could use the water from the river that ran through the village since it is pure clean water, having this little bit at the start of every morning was appreciated by all of the children.

Link finished washing up and put on his boots before he left his home and down the ladder. Once he got down, he looked around and saw that what Saria said was right. All around his house were weeds that had overgrown and almost made the area look like a mess. The weeds were so overgrown that they were as tall as his waist. He moved through it and made it to the path that ran through the village and looked around to see that everyone else had already started getting rid of weeds around their homes.

Weeding day was a day when the grass and weeds grew at a fast rate to the point that they took over the village. When this day comes, everyone in Korak village spends the day getting rid of them so that their home goes back to normal.

Link began to move his way to the shop as he needed to eat something before he got started. Not surprisingly, the shop was overrun. So much so that there was no way inside and he slumped as he knew that he wouldn't be able to eat anything. He suddenly felt something on his shoulder and looked to his left to see a glass of lon lon milk.

"I knew this would be the first thing you would do."

Link over his shoulder to see Saria holding the bottle with something else for him to eat. He smiled at her as he reached out to take the bottle. But before he could, she pulled it away from him. He gave her a confused look, clearly asking why.

Saria smiled as she held it to her chest. "If you want this, you have to promise that you will come over and help me with my house when you finish yours."

Link gave her a dry look at how he was blackmailing him to help her with her home with food she obviously got for him. He was about to say something till his stomach decided to speak for him.

*growl*

Link blushed as Saria began to laugh at that.

Once she got her laughter under control, she handed him the food. "It's a deal, then."

Link sighed before he began to walk back to his home so he could get started. As he was halfway there, he looked over his shoulder to see Saria following him. He raised an eyebrow at her. "Aren't you going to your house to start clearing the weeds out?"

Saria shook her head. "I'm helping you first before we head over to my home. It will be faster if we both work on it."

Link sipped some of the Lon lon milk as he tilted his head. "So why did you bribe me with breakfast if we were going to work on it together?"

She just smiled as she walked past him. "Because it was funny to see you look confused. I'm sure Naruto would have the same look if I did it to him." She giggled as she thought about it

Link deadpanned at her before he finished his milk and moved to walk next to her.

Link was gripping at the base of a tall weed as he pulled. He tugged a few times but the weed wouldn't come out. He did another tug but his hands slipped and he fell on his back with his eyes spinning.

"Hahahahahaha, looks like the no-fairy is having trouble doing something so simple."

Link lifted his head and looked to his right to see Mido with the Know-it-all brothers at his side. He frowned at the sight of them but chose to ignore Mido since he was the one who was the most antagonistic to him. The brothers are usually just around. He got up and got back to trying to pull the weed that he couldn't get before, out of the ground.

Mido frowned at being ignored. "What? Nothing to say, No-fairy?" seeing that Link still didn't respond to him, he continued. "Maybe you should have your fairy help you out, oh wait, you don't have a fairy. So you won't be able to get any help in trying to get rid of the weeds you have in your home." He began to laugh as the Know-it-all brothers shrugged and chortled with him.

"What are you even doing here, Mido? Don't you have your own home to deal with?"

Mido looked slightly to the left to see Saria pop her head out of a large patch of grass to give him an angered look. He lost all his bravado as he began to nervously ask. "Saria? Wh-what are you doing here?"

Saria walked out of the patch and brushed herself off. "I'm here to help Link clear his home so he can help with mine."

Mido stomped his foot on the ground as he began to throw a tantrum. "Why didn't you ask me? If you did, I would gladly help you with your house!"

Saria put her hands on her hips as she gave him a disapproving look. "Don't you have your own home to deal with? If you are here to make fun of Link, you will never finish, and asking you would take too much time." She felt her fairy come out and watched as she flew over to Mido. She smiled as her fairy began to bounce around him angrily before chasing Mido's fairy as if ready to punish. Narrowing her eyes, she called her fairy back and held her hand out for it to land on her hand.

Mido pouted at how Saria's fairy got on his case before looking to Link. he dramatically pointed at the boy as if declaring war. "Don't get so full of yourself just because Saria is helping you! I'll finish my house and then I will help her with her home." with his piece said, he turned and began to stomp away.

The Know-it-all brothers watched him leave before they waved bye to the two and chased after Mido.

Link sighed in relief as every time Mido came around, they always ended up arguing or fighting. He looked at Saria and smiled. "You always know how to deal with Mido when he shows up."

Saria sighed as she gently petted her fairy. "There isn't much I have to do in order to get him to stop."

Link deadpanned at that. 'Well, with how he is around you, it makes sense.'

Link and Saria knew about Mido's crush on the latter, but they never bring it up in conversation. Link didn't cause the last time he did, Mido would just get more aggressive and annoying. Saria didn't cause she just didn't think much of Mido. he was a bully and always thought himself better than others.

Saria moved to stand next to Link before she reached down to grab the base of the weed he was trying to pull out. "Let's do it together. Ready?"

Link nodded as he griped the weed hard. "...1…"

"...2…."

The two tensed as they shouted at the same time. "3!" They pulled hard and were able to get the weed out. They fell on their backs with their legs in the air as they looked at the weed they got. They saw the roots were long and a large chunk of dirt was still clumped around them. Suddenly they had to close their eyes as the dirt ball fell on their faces, getting them dirty. They sat up and blinked a few times before looking at each other. After a second, they began to laugh at their success and the appearance of the other

Their faces were covered in dirt, yet they didn't care about that.

~later~

The two had gotten cleaned up at Link's house after they finished the last of the weeds and grass. They were now on their way to Saria's house to get started on hers.

Link rolled his arm to get them to loosen up. "Naruto should have come over to help us with it. We would have already finished my house and your house by now with his help."

Saria nodded. "Yeah, but he probably has his own things that take up his time. The Academy for instance."

Link did a single nod as he knew from what Naruto told them that the academy put him through a lot in order for him to be a good shinobi.

As they continued to walk, they saw that the other Kokiri were working on their own houses. They even saw the Know-it-all brothers trying to lift some of the stones that were in front of Mido's house.

Saria sighed as she shook her head disappointingly. She should have known that Mido would have the brothers to help him clean up. She looked through the open door to see Mido ripping up some of the overgrown grass that made its way into his home.

The two made it to Saria's house and Link could not believe what he was seeing. Her house was completely covered in foliage. So much so that it looked like it wasn't even possible to get into her house.

Link looked to Saria and asked. "Did you water them before coming over?"

Saria shook her head. "You know that if we don't get these out fast enough, they grow fast. So are you going to help me or just stare?" She walked up to her house to get things started.

Link shook his head before he moved to join her.

They decided to get started from top to bottom. They climbed up to her roof in order to start tearing the plants off her home. As they were working on it, they both were mentally thanking the Great Deku tree that this only happened every two months. It took them a while before they finally finished the foliage that was on the house and were now getting rid of the overgrown grass and weeds in front of her house.

Link lifted one of the rocks that had popped up from the ground, thanks to the grass pushing it up, as he asked. "Know what we are gonna do after this? Everyone should be finished soon at this rate."

Saria ripped out a bit of grass as she thought about the question. "We can head to the mouth of the river to get cleaned up. It would also be fun to play in the water after all this."

Link nodded as he knew that Saria enjoyed having fun in small bits of water. He moved over to grab another stone so he could throw it away but paused when he saw it move on its own. He tilted his head as he leaned closer to it. It didn't move again and he reached toward it to see if there was something under it. As he placed his hands on the rock….

"Aaahhh!"

Link turned around to see that Saria had jumped back as something popped out from the ground in front of her. Before he could run toward her, the rock he was just looking at was launched into the air and he turned around to see a set of chomping jaws. He leaned back in time to avoid the snapping jaws before he moved away from where he was. He noticed that whatever it was that was snapping at him, couldn't reach him and sighed in relief. Remembering that Saria was in trouble, he turned around and ran toward her. He saw that she crawled away from the weird blue plant with jaws and made his way to her.

Saria was staring at the weird plant that came out of the ground all of a sudden. She jumped when she felt something grab her arms. She looked up and saw the familiar color of Link's hair.

"Let's go!" Link helped Saria up from the ground before they began to run away from her house in order to get to a safe distance.

They paused as they heard some more screaming and saw that they were the only ones who had this trouble. Everyone was running from some random plants that came out of the ground but with how they kept coming up randomly, no one knew where to run.

Link and Saria were shocked still at the sight but they were brought out of it when they heard a scream close by and looked over to see Fado and Natie (1) about to be attacked by one. Without realizing it, Link ran as fast as he could to them.

The two female Kokiri were looking up at the chomping mouth and screamed, shutting their eyes as it was suddenly dropping on them. The clattering sound that came from the mouth suddenly disappeared as they heard something snap. They opened their eyes in time to see Link rolling on the ground with the head of the plant in his arms.

Link kicked the head of the plant away so it wouldn't bite on him.

Saria got to them and picked them up from the ground. "Move!"

Link looked over to them and ran to join them.

The group didn't get far as more deku plants began to pop up from the ground. They began to zig-zag to avoid being attacked with Saria keeping a hold of the girls' shoulders as they moved.

Link saw that the others were also running around with no idea where they should go.

Suddenly, Deku scrubs plants grew from the ground before they popped up and began to shoot at all the children.

Link saw that the brothers jumped and tried to climb on top of the high platform they had but there was a Deku scrub about to shoot at them as they climbed the ladder. He moved to grab a nearby stone before he threw it at the scrub, hitting it dead-on, and causing it to collapse to the ground.

Link saw Mido running toward the pathway that led to the Great Deku tree. His eyes widened when he saw that a few sprouts came out at the pathway. "Mido, stop!"

Mido heard this and stopped just in time as a set of three Deku Babas and Deku serpents came out and snapped him, short only by an inch.

Link sighed with some relief when he saw that Mido wasn't bitten but his eyes widened when he saw him pull out a sword. 'Where did he get that?' He thought to himself but wondered if he would be able to help the rest stay clear of the Deku babas, serpents, and scrubs.

Mido grabbed the hilt of the sword with two hands and began to swing side to side, fending them off from him. The deku scrubs snapped at him in between his swipes but they pulled back as he swung.

Mido was gaining began to smile with confidence as he saw that they were keeping their distance. 'I can get the others out of here if I can clear a path for the others!' He saw the Deku serpent aim to bite his head and in shock, he closed his eyes as he swung the sword. He felt slight resistance and opened his eyes to see that he had cut the Deku Serpent at the stem. He smiled at how he was able to get rid of one of them but it dropped when he saw that its head began to bounce on the ground. It was then that he saw Deku scrubs coming from where the Deku tree was with what looked like more bouncing Deku serpent heads. He was so shocked a this that he ran away to avoid being eaten.

"Link!"

Link turned around to see Saria waving at him.

"We have to head to the Alcove! Come on!" She waved for him to join them as they were all heading there. (2)

Link wondered why they wouldn't head to the opposite exit, only to see that there was already a horde blocking it. He saw Mido run past him and looked over his shoulder to see the horde coming from the Deku tree path closing in. His eyes widened before he began to run toward the Alcove entrance. He had to duck and jump as Deku nuts were being fired at him and he looked at where the others were. He felt dread as he saw that they were all going in slowly.

The problem with using the Alcove to get to safety is that the entrance is a hole in a stone wall. The only way in is to crawl through the hole. This meant that the movement was slow and there were still a few that hadn't gone in. He watched as Mido climbed over the fence that surrounded the entrance before he stumbled to the ground. He ran faster and jumped over the fence to pick him up. "Come on!"

"Link, WATCH OUT!"

Link turned around to see a Deku Serpent jumping over the fence and coming down at him with a mouth open.

Everything seemed to slow down for all that were witnessing the monster coming down on one of their own. They watched with wide eyes as the row of sharp teeth grew closer to the fairy-less boy.

For Link, his eyes widened as he had a hard time believing that he was about to die. He could almost instantly count all the teeth about to reach him and could imagine how painful it was going to be. But suddenly, something else caught his eye. He wasn't sure what it was but his vision seemed to focus more, allowing him to clear his mind at what he was facing. His hand shot out to his left and grabbed onto something before swinging upward in front of him. "HYAH!"

The other Korkiri children watched as the Deku serpent was about to chomp down on Link till it suddenly split in two and flew by Link before puffing up in dark smoke. They saw the glint of metal above Link's head before it became clear that it was the sword that Mido had but it was something else that was there that really grabbed their attention.

Link was glad that he was able to get out of that situation as he was breathing heavily from panic. "Th-that was close." He couldn't relax yet as he heard a twinkle in front of him before it lightly rang twice.

"This is no time to relax! More are coming."

Link blinked as he looked at the one that spoke and saw that it was a small blue fairy. He recognized the voice as the one that told him to watch out. "Who…?"

"No time! Look!"

Link saw the monsters closing in before he steeled himself. He held the sword at the ready as he called out to his friends. "Go! I'll hold them off!"

Saria heard this and took a step. "Link!"

"I'll be fine, Saria! Get everyone into the Alcove!"

Saria didn't like it but she knew that it was the best thing to do. "Everyone, go!"

Mido looked up in shock. "Link…"

"Go, Mido!" Link ran forward to meet the monsters to keep some distance from them and the others.

Mido got up to his feet and moved toward the entrance.

Link swung the sword at a Deku Baba, cutting it across the snout before he leaned back as a Deku Baba bit at where his head was. His vision seemed to focus on the stem of the Baba before he brought the sword down on it. He jumped back, avoiding the Deku Serpent that dove at him. His vision did it a gain and focused on the head before he swung horizontally at it. He had to keep dodging monster attacks before slicing at them with the new fairy helping him focus on one monster at a time so he could attack that one and not swing randomly. His eyes would occasionally shift to the others and saw that most of them made it through with Saria moving them along. He kept taking out as many monsters as he could but he didn't see any sign of them stopping and he was starting to get tired. His swings began to slow down, missing a few of the monsters before he had to jump around to avoid the Deku nuts being shot at him. But when he jumped to the side to avoid a bite from a Deku Serpent, his fit landed on a small rock and he lost his balance, giving a Deku scrub the chance to hit him in the chest. He was sent to the ground but fortunately, he was able to hold onto the sword. He pushed himself up by his elbows to see the monsters coming closer. He even saw the monsters in the back were still coming in. "Darn it!"

Saira saw this and grew worried. "Link!" She was about to run toward him to help till she saw something happen to the monsters that were coming.

The monsters that were coming in the back, suddenly froze as they turned blue as something rushed past them before jumping into the air

Link looked up as a Deku Serpent lifted its head up before coming down at him.

A silhouette from the air came down before slamming onto the Serpent's head, stabbing something into it.

Link saw the Deku Serpent go up in dark smoke and was shocked at the sight of who arrived. "Naruto!"

Naruto looked up with a smirk before he spun around and threw a Deku nut at the crowd of monsters, stunning them. "Talk later, fight now!"

Link got up and held his sword in his left hand. He moved to stand next to Naruto as they began to cut down the monsters before they were free of the stunning effect.

Naruto was doing his best with the sticks he had gathered in his previous fights, not to mention that his leg was in pain from the bite he got but he was here to help, and he was going to help. He swung his stick down on a Deku scrub and watched as it turned to ash. He reached behind him to grab another stick that he strapped to his back. He only had three left so he was going to have to get more from these enemies. As he continued, he looked over to Link and was surprised to see how good he was using a sword. Sure, he knew that Link practiced with Deku stick before but now it was almost like he had used a sword for a lot longer. He wanted to ask Link if he had been practicing with it before but that was for later. He threw another nut to the ground to stun another group of monsters that they took care of.

Link slashed down on a monster before twirling his sword into another monster. He realized that he was doing better than he originally thought he would but he didn't really concern himself with it at the moment. He looked over to the other Kokiri to see that the others had made it to the alcove, all but Saria. "Saria, get into the alcove!" He slashed at one monster before doing a jumping slash at one monster. He looked to his left to see another Deku baba coming at him, only to see a Deku stick shoved through its mouth from Naruto.

Naruto saw a monster about to attack Link and shoved his stick through the monster's mouth. In doing so, he left his sides open and saw a Deku Serpent coming at his side. But he smirked when Link came and sliced the monster at the stem. Shifting his grip, he swung his stick to whack it away.

The two shared a nod before they continued to take care of the monsters.

The two didn't know how long it took but they noticed that the number of monsters was getting smaller and they felt relief at that. They continued to fight alongside each other with great symmetry.

If Naruto would be hit by a monster, Link would come in and take care of it.

If Link was in a bit of trouble, Naruto would come in and help him.

Naruto swung his stick at a deku scrub and watched as it snapped, making it lose some of its strength and not kill the monster. He watched as the scrub came closer.

"Naruto!"

Naruto looked over at Link and saw the sword being thrown at him. He reached out and grabbed it before doing a spin slice to kill the Baba. Once he was done, he saw Link needed it and threw it back.

Link caught the sword before bringing it down onto the monster. However, it was as he did this that he saw that a monster was right behind Naruto as the boy was reaching out to grab one of the Deku sticks that lay on the ground. "Naruto!"

Naruto was in a crouched position and looked over his shoulder to see the Deku Serpent. "Crap!"

As the Deku serpent came down, something suddenly came flying at it, and hitting it in the head hard enough that it fell over and died.

The boys looked over from where the shots came from and saw Saria holding the slingshot.

Saria was wide-eyed as she thought that was too close for comfort but she was relieved to see that Naruto was fine.

Naruto and Link got out of their relieved shock and nodded toward her before they continued attacking.

"HAAAAAH~" Naruto fell on his butt as he let out a relieved sigh.

Link fell on his back as he let out a similar groan. "I can't believe we made it!"

The last of the monsters have been defeated and Kokiri village was in shambles thanks to all the monsters running through and toward the Alcove. But the two boys had been able to defend it and no monster had made it to them.

Saria ran up to the two with worry and looked them over. "Are you two okay?"

Link lifted his head to look at her. "Define 'okay'? I'm so tired."

Saria looked at the two and saw that both of them were panting heavily. But it was when her eyes landed on Naruto that her eyes widened even more. "Naruto! You're bleeding."

Naruto leaned his head to his left to look at his foot to see that the bite he had from before got worse and it was now dripping. It was as he saw it that the pain finally hit him and he winced at how much it hurt. He didn't pay attention to it as he was more concerned about getting here fast enough to save his friends. Now that the monsters looked like they stopped coming, it hit him. "Ow!"

Saria grew worried at the sight before she looked over to Link to see if he was hurt as well. To her relief, it looked like the worst thing that happened to Link was that he was exhausted. She looked around to find something that she could use to help but so far, there was nothing. She got up from the ground and looked around to see if there were any more dangers. Seeing that their village was now safe, she looked down at her friends. "I'll be back, I'm going to get something that will help." she took a few steps before looking back at them. "Don't go anywhere!" She then ran off to get what she needed.

Her warning tone told them that they shouldn't even move from their spot. They never heard Saira use that tone before but they knew not to go against it.

Link sat up and looked up when he heard the chiming of a fairy. He blinked when the fairy that helped him flew around his head and stopped in front of him. "Hi."

"Hello. It's nice to finally meet you, Link. I'm Navi, and I'm your fairy partner."

Link was shocked at that news but he soon smiled wide at how he finally got a fairy after so long. "I'm happy to meet you, Navi and I'm happy to have you as my partner. Oh, and thank you for the help during that fight."

Navi bounced in happiness. "It was my pleasure."

Naruto smiled at Link as he could see that his friend was happy to finally get a fairy partner.

Saria made it into the shop and saw that everything was a mess. The simple products were all over the ground and the furniture was shattered. But those were simple things that they could fix later. She looked around for what she needed but couldn't find anything that would help. She grunted in frustration before she noticed something else that she could use. She grabbed the cloth that was used to cover the counter and ripped off a good amount of it before running out the door to head to her house.

Naruto watched as Link talked animatedly with Navi and was about to say something about how energetic he looked. He didn't get to say anything as he heard something move behind them and turned his head to see what it was. He calmed down when he saw that it was the rest of the Kokiri kids. He let out a sigh as they came out of the alcove entrance. "Is everything alright?!"

The children looked at who spoke and saw it was Naruto.

Fado called out. "Naruto! What are you doing here?"

Naruto shrugged. "I felt like it was the perfect time to visit. I would have come sooner if I knew there was a party that was happening."

The others shook their head as they felt relieved that the danger had passed. And Naruto's goofy nature eased the tension. They all chose to walk through the fence as the danger was gone and they could go about leisurely. Yet, when they saw how damaged Naruto and Link looked, they grew worried.

Link may look like he was fine, but he had a bruise forming on his face, arm, and leg.

Naruto was bleeding from the leg and also looked like he had a bruise on his face.

They all gathered around them, asking if they were alright. They did pause when they found out that Link now had a fairy. This caused Fado and Natie to congratulate the boy as they brought out their own fairy to meet the new member of the forest.

"Everyone, make some room."

The children turned around to see Sarai making her way to them with some items in her arms. The cleared out so that Saria could do her thing.

Saria could see the bruises on Link and knew that she needed some help. She looked at the girls as she spoke. "Fado, can you put this on Link's bruises? It should help ease the pain." She held out a bottle of a thick orange liquid. She smiled as the blonde kokiri girl took the bottle and moved to sit on her knees next to Link. Saria looked to Natie as she asked. "Can you help me with Naruto? I'm gonna need someone to hold him."

Naruto tilted his head as he wondered why he needed to be held but before he could question it, Natie was behind him and hooked his arms in hers to hold his torso still. "Hey, what?!"

Natie smirked as she held him back. "Don't move so much."

Saria moved and staddled Naruto's legs with her back to him and his lower legs in front of her. "It's for your own good." She put her items down and grabbed a bottle of clear water before pouring it on a rag as she began to clean up the blood from his leg. She heard him grunt in pain but she knew he could handle this. She felt uncomfortable seeing so much blood but she knew she had to deal with it as she wanted to help Naruto get better. Once she had cleaned the blood off as best she could she grabbed another bottle of the orange liquid before opening it and putting a bit of it on her fingers.

Naruto didn't know what she was doing and was about to complain again, till he felt his injured leg sting… BADLY. "ARGH! What the hell!"

Saria tightened her legs to hold his in place. "Hold still! This Deku sap will help heal your wounds faster." she grabbed more of the sap from the bottle before spreading it on the bite marks.

Natie tightened her grip on his arms and bonked her head on his. "If you keep moving, it's going to sting more." She smirked as she felt him hold still but tightened her grip on him to make sure.

Naruto bit his lip as the sap stung. Sure it hurt when his adrenaline had died down, but now it was worse thanks to the sap. But he trusted Saria and did his best not to complain so much.

Link grimaced as he saw the pain Naruto was in. he remembered getting a cut on his face and the sap used to help it heal. It does help but it really does sting on open wounds. He winced when Fado rubbed some of it on his bruise.

"Be glad that these bruises are the only thing you got." Fado ran her fingers in circles on the bruise to make sure that she got all of it.

Mido watched as the two were being tended to till he saw the sword on the ground next to Link. He eyed the sword for a second before he decided to just leave it. Truthfully, it wasn't even his. He found it buried in the ground in the Alcove some time ago. He didn't know where it came from but he thought it was cool and could help him look cooler to the others. But the first time he could show off, it ended up in Link's hands, and with how well Link seemed to use it, it was better in Link's hands than his own.

Saria finished applying the sap on the leg and nodded at her work before she reached for her supplies and grabbed a large leaf that she had in her house. She gently lifted his leg before she put the leaf under it and began to warp it around the wound. It was a Deku leaf. It has many different uses and one of them is help in healing. Once done, she got up from his legs. "There, not so bad was it?"

Naruto gave a teary glare at Saria as he tried to get up. But he fell back since his arms were still being held. He looked over his shoulder at Natie with a flat look. "You can let me go now."

Natie looked up at Saria to see that she was given the okay. She then let go of Naruto and watched as he got up. "At least you didn't scream from the sap."

Naruto tentatively put some weight on the leg, and despite how it still hurt, he could use it. "Thanks, Saria."

Saria nodded. "Well, as long as you guys are okay, then I'm happy."

Fado finished putting the sap on Link's leg and gave him a nod. "There. The bruises should fade soon and all you'll feel is slight tingly if you touch them."

Link got up and smiled at the girl. "Thank you, Fado. I can say that you did a better job with me than Saria did with Naruto. He looks like he is still in pain."

Saria slapped him on the shoulder. "Don't make fun of me. He was more injured than you." She then looked at the spiky-haired blonde and asked. "How did you get hurt like that anyway? I saw the whole thing and I didn't see anything bite you."

Naruto sighed before he explained how his village was attacked which led to him running here in order to help since it looked like the monsters were coming from the Lost Woods.

The brothers looked at each other before they both shrugged with one of them saying. "Sounds like what happened to us. They just started coming from the Lost Woods."

The second brother spoke after this. "But they were also coming from where the Great Deku tree was." he pointed in the direction of the great tree.

Naruto looked in that direction and wondered what was going on. Both his village and the Kokiri village were attacked by monsters. It was then he remembered. "Did you guys fight any Stalfos?"

The children looked at each other before shaking their heads. They have heard of them but they have never seen them before.

Naruto sighed in relief but he also wondered why the Stalfos didn't attack the village. He turned to look toward where the Great Deku tree was. He had a few questions and he knew that the Great Deku Tree would be his best chance for answers. Looking around at the village, he sighed as he said. "We should start fixing things up here."

Mido looked at Naruto as he asked. "You gonna help us here?"

Naruto shrugged. "Well, I am here. Let's get started. The faster we start, the faster we finish." He took a few steps, only to be pulled back by the back of his shirt. "Wah!"

Saria held him back before giving him a stern look. "You are going got take things easy. Your leg is hurt and we don't want to make it worse. You are going to help us with small things while the rest of us help…. with all that." she gestured to the complete mess that village was.

Naruto sighed as he knew that he shouldn't argue with her. "Alright. Can we get started already?"

Link got up and was about to move when his foto hit the sword that was on the ground. He looked down before his eyes widened at the sight of a sheath that was for it. He looked up at Mido to see the boy walking away. Looking back down, he saw Navi float above it before giving him an encouraging bounce. Link bent down and picked them up before he sheathed the sword and put it on his back. He wasn't sure why, but it felt natural to do these actions, but he didn't have time to think about it.

All the children then moved to start cleaning up the mess. Though, a lot of them were mentally complaining as this day was already heaving on cleaning since they just finished getting rid of the overgrown plant life.

Clean-up took a lot of time as rocks, logs, and ripped-up earth littered the village.

The Know-it-all brothers were on the high platform, trying to get the bridge fixed. It was taking them a while since they had to get new boards for it.

Mido was busy removing the fences that couldn't be fixed and moved them to the side. He knew that they would need to be replaced and didn't know how long that would take.

Natie was getting muddy as she was trying to fix up the small pond they had as a lot of rocks and mud cluttered inside. At least she had some help. She looked around for her help but frowned when she saw she was alone.

Saria and Fado were dragging one of the large leaves that were on top of one of the houses had been brought down by one of the Deku shots.

"Hey, Saria, Fado!"

The two looked toward the pond to see Natie calling out to them.

Natie cupped her hands around her mouth as she called out. "Have you seen Naruto?! He isn't helping me with this!"

Saira looked around to see if she could find a sign of his blonde hair. She frowned at that before sighing. "Where is that boy?"

Fado was also looking around but paused when she noticed. "Hey, where's Link? I saw him earlier fixing one of the ladders. But he isn't there anymore."

Saria looked to where the ladder lay on the ground and saw he was gone too. She shook her head as she asked herself. 'Why are those two so difficult.'

Naruto jumped over a log while keeping an eye out for any monster that may attack him. He was making his way toward the Great Deku tree as he wanted to ask what was going on and the old tree would know or at least have an idea of what it is. He walked a few more steps before he sighed. Turning around he called out. "You can come out, Link! I know you're there."

A few seconds passed before Link's head popped up over the log with Navi flying around his head. "How did you know I was following you?"

Naruto raised an amused eyebrow at him. "I'm training to be a shinobi. I practice feeling out someone else's presence." he crossed his arms as he pointed at Link. "And Navi gives off a slight blue light in these dark woods."

Navi flew down to hide behind Link's head. "Sorry."

Naruto chuckled at that. "Anyway, I knew you were following me since the start. So you might as well join me as we go talk to the Great Deku Tree."

Link moved to stand next to Naruto as the two began to walk toward the tree. "So what do you want to ask him?"

Naruto jabbed a thumb over his shoulder. "I wanted to ask if he knew why the monsters attacked us. He should know why since he almost always knows everything that happens in the forest."

Link nodded as it made sense. "That makes sense. He does protect our village from monsters so the fact they came in is something I would like to know."

The three continued to make their way to the tree and finally made it to the entrance of the grove. But the second they laid eyes on the tree, they knew something was wrong.

The Great Deku tree had a grayish hue to his bark and his leaves looked wilted as they fell from his branches.

They ran up to the Great Tree in panic as they had never seen him like this before.

Link was the one to ask. "What's wrong, Great Deku Tree?!"

In a wheezing voice, the Great Deku tree spoke. "Ah, Link, Naruto, ….. I am sorry that you have seen me as such. I had tried my best to control this but it seems my strength has weakened. I do not have time to explain as I require your help if you are willing to aid me."

Naruto stepped forward with panic in his eyes. "Of course! If you need our help we will do what we can."

The Great Deku tree chuckled softly before coughing. Once he was able to, he spoke. "I have been cursed by a great evil. This evil has placed this curse upon a creature that now dwells within me and I am no longer able to hold it back. I am using all my strength to protect my children but if nothing is done soon, the protection will fade. Do you have the courage to take on this task, Link, Naruto?"

The two boys looked at each other and nodded with determined expressions. They looked up at the tree and spoke in unison. "We do!"

"Very well." He then opened up his mouth to allow them entrance. "The creature lies deep within my being. Defeat this creature and the curse will be lifted. Navi will be of great assistance to you in your task."

Link looked at Navi as she came out and wondered if the Great Deku tree sent her to him. But now wasn't the time for that, he looked at Naruto before they walked toward the entrance.

"One more thing…. Link."

The boys looked up at the tree as they saw him shimming his branches as best he could. They saw something fall from above and saw that it looked like a piece of the Tree's bark. They got closer to it and saw a symbol appear on it before Link picked it up. He saw that it had a handle on it before looking back up at the tree in awe.

"That shield will help protect you when you need it. I am sorry I cannot offer something to you as well, Naruto, but my strength…."

Naruto nodded in understanding. "It's fine. I can manage with what I have." He looked to Link and saw him hold the sword in his left hand and the shield in his right. "We will save you, Great Deku tree." With that said, they ran into the Great Deku tree in order to find that cursed creature and get rid of it.

The Great Deku tree felt saddened at how the peaceful times are coming to an end but he prayed to the goddess that the two boys succeeded. 'Good luck, you two.'

End of chapter

Before I get to the story notes, I have played Tears of the Kingdom, and damn it was fun.

(1) Natie is the name of a Korak that I took to be used for the other Kokiri girl who doesn't have a name.

Fado is the blonde girl's actual name.

(2) The alcove is the training area where you get the sword

The reason the Stalfos didn't show up in the Kokiri village was because the great Deku tree used his powers to protect his children as best he could. As such, the Stalfos couldn't reach them but the smaller enemies could

I had to come up with a reason for some of the actions the children were doing in the game and as such, I came up with weeding day. Pulling out grass and rocks, much like the game but now having a more logical reason to be doing such.

I took the idea of The Deku shield being a piece of bark from the tree from somewhere, I won't say where :) but it won't be the last thing I take from it.

Next chapter will be the first dungeon, and that might be a bit difficult since I don't know if I can make the chapter lengthy enough to reach my quota and not bleed into the events afterward.

I am still a sucker for romance and I still am trying to figure out who pairs up with who. Especially since there are three or four of the Zelda games being mixed into this. Ocarina of Time, Majora Mask, Twilight Princess, and a bit of breath of the wild and Tears of the kingdom. (those last two are in the same world so they count as one).

Oh! And a bit of Windwaker. I originally wasn't going to but I did an art piece of one of the characters and I loved it and couldn't help but add them in.

Not story-wise, but the characters and locations.

I am still accepting suggestions on that so please give me your opinions on it

Ocarina is still the base but original content is going to be spread around the whole thing.

Gonna make another cover art as I came up with another idea for it. Movie poster style and all that.

I also changed my profile pic with another drawing I did but I am not sure if it's good. But it is what it is.
