A year after that day, the school was open and having an assembly first thing in the morning before classes were to begin.
"Good morning students of Degrassi Academy," said Becky as she stood before everyone.
"I am Headmistress Baker and I just wanted to let you know that our school will be different from others that you have gone to in the past," she said.
"Can't believe how much she has thought about this," said Connor DeLaurier to Dave Turner. The two of them were standing off to the side with the rest of the teachers.
"Pretty sure she has been thinking about all of this since the school announced it's closer," said Dave.
"With all of that said, you are free to go to class now," said Becky.
"Good luck," said Emma as she kissed Spinner before heading off.
"Well, let's get this day started," said Spinner. Later in her office, Becky was going over paperwork while sitting at her desk.
"Can we talk for a minute?" asked Manny Santos while standing in the open doorway.
"Anything to get away from paperwork for a while," said Becky as she looked up.
"Think we have some promising talents in drama class," said Manny.
"It's only the first day," said Becky with a chuckle.
"And I know talent when I see it," said Manny at the same time he took a seat across from her.
"So, why did you come up with the ideal of opening a school and having all of us teach here?" she asked while looking right at Becky.
"You know why," said Becky as she looked at a picture of Adam that rested on her desk.
"Not everything has to be about Adam," said Manny.
"I know, but this gives me the chance to help kids in a similar situation to him and everyone else that went to Degrassi back in the day," said Becky.
"The teachers did drop the ball with us some times back then," said Manny with a sigh while leaning back in her chair.
