*Tick* *Tick* *Tick*
The ticking grows quiet, as we look around, the very landscape around us has changed.
The trees are far shorter now, the sky obscured with a thick canopy.
The shrine is still behind us. Standing completely untouched.
"Sir. I have regained connection to the internet!" My rotom beams causing me to fall to my knees.
Courtney's rotom chimes up a moment later. "I have as well!"
A little moisture forms in my eyes but I quickly wipe my face. "Is- what day is it? How much time has passed?"
Ancient Celebi seems to form behind us. "Ah... returned to your original time... This will perhaps be the last time we see each other... goodbye."
"Thank you!" I whisper, bowing my head slightly to the time traveling pokemon.
It seems to smile, then disappears with a small flash.
I look to my rotom and ask my question again. "How much time has passed?"
"Ten minutes." It informs this time, seemingly being occupied in getting situated with the regained internet access beforehand.
"..."
"YES!" Zinnia cackles. "Over a free year of training?! I managed to evolve all of my current pokemon!"
"Merlin Home. NOW." I demand as I scramble to my feet.
Another portal opens as we all quickly make our way through.
"Eevee! Ee-vee-vee vee!" Loki cackles as I peer around the place I was beginning to believe I'd never return to."
"Ah. Welcome back, sir." The wall chimes. "You're home early."
A feral grin crosses Zinnia's face as she abruptly stalks to the fridge.
Tears begin gently falling from Courtney's eyes as I fall back to the floor, hands rubbing gently across the hardwood.
The pink haired girl falls into a seated position next to me as I hug her close, her shoulders shaking slightly as a few relieved tears leave my own eyes.
I ignore Zinnia in the background pulling out the whole carton of orange juice and chugging it like her life depends on it.
"Sir?" Jarvis mutters.
"You two." I look to the two rotoms that are looking in awe at the large tv rotom face. "Drop your files off with him, then erase them from your hard drives... don't speak of anything you have seen. I don't want to deal with pokemon hunters yet. Don't worry. I'll be telling Champion Cynthia soon enough. You have my word in this."
"Er... alright." My rotom speaks.
"Uh... Ma'am... should I?" Courtney's rotom asks, causing the pink haired girl to nod once as she wipes her face.
"Yes."
"O...kay..." The rotom mutters.
Ah.
It hasn't had the revelation that mine did where I got annoyed by it tattling.
"Wait. Did you inform the school?" I ask suddenly.
"No sir." My Rotom shakes its body.
I look to the feminine sounding rotom.
"Not yet." It informs. "I was about to..."
"Good." I sigh. "Caught that before it happened... I already got burned once... anyways, after your finished transferring files, Merlin will send you back to the school."
""Okay.""
""Download commencing. ninteen point eight terabytes of footage being gathered."" The rotoms speak in unison.
"Estimated time of completion... one hundred and forty minutes." Jarvis begins.
I turn, walking past Zinnia. "Merlin. Can you send them back to my blueberry academy room after the download is complete?"
"Yes sir."
"Now. I'm going to take a shower and use actual soap for the first time about four hundred and fifty days."
Ah... I've missed this. I sigh, suds flowing down my body as I stand under a torrent of water.
The door creaks open behind me.
"Yes?" I ask.
"I couldn't wait..." Courtney announces. "I need to get this grime off me."
"Alright." I shrug as I take a few steps to the side.
The girl steps into the shower. The door opening and closing behind me.
It's not the largest, but if you squeeze there's probably enough room for... maybe four people standing in the four corners.
I cast a glance to the side, eyes trailing from head to toe in a brief moment.
Admittedly... this really isn't the first time I've seen her naked body. Her hair is a bit longer than she normally keeps it, instead of being chin-length, it goes down to about her lower back.
But this is probably the closest I've ever been to her while she is naked... or the fact that we are both naked at the same time.
She quietly begins washing herself beside me.
There's not much to say between us.
"I'm glad we're finally home." The girl whispers.
"Me too." I agree. "There's so much I want to do. So much I want to eat."
"Mhm... want to order a Pizza?" The girl asks.
"Why stop at one?"
"True." She relents, likely as starved for modern cuisine as I am.
We sit in silence for a moment.
Said silence is broken as Zinnia struts inside. "Hey hey, I'm here for some super hot shower sex- oh. Can't believe you're here first. Damn."
Zinnia's bright smile falls slightly as she notices Courtney.
"At the moment, I'm more preoccupied with getting clean than shower sex." I state. "I also need to check on my projects. It's been a long year and a third and I've sort of forgotten where everything was."
~~Lemon goes here~~
I lay flat on my back, staring blankly up at the ceiling of my room. I can feel tiredness looming, sleep coming to take me.
"I feel as if I am forgetting something." I mutter to the two girls curled up beside me, one on each side and pulled close with my arms.
"..."
"Fuck." I curse under my breath.
"What is it?" Zinnia questions.
"I need to speak with Cynthia as soon as possible to see if she can shut down twist mountain."
"Shut it down?" Courtney mutters. "Yes. It would surely save lives. I doubt many could survive the ordeal we went through nor have the knowledge to return."
I look to the large flatscreen sat on the wall as I slowly sit up. "Hey, Jarvis? Can you send a message to Cynthia."
"What would you like to send?"
"Quote. Cynthia. There is something vital we need to speak about. Right now. Call me as soon as you possibly can. It could be life or death. End Quote."
"Message sent." Jarvis intones.
"Now to wait." I yawn.
I don't have to wait long, a mere minute or two, then Jarvis informs me that Cynthia is calling.
"Put her through." I mutter as I rub my eye.
"Xander?! Xander are you alright?! What's wrong?!" A blonde woman appears on the screen, her frantic voice echoing out.
"I'm fine." I call out, the woman taking the briefest of moments to look over me, I can see slight confusion in her eyes as she looks over me. "At least I am now."
It's likely that she is seeing some discrepancies since our last call. It's been, what, a month or so for her? She's trying to figure out if my changes are too drastic for such a short amount of time.
There's also a slight redness as she sees me sharing the bed with Zinnia and Courtney, it also could be due to my shirtlessness.
"Now... listen closely... I want you and the pokemon league to seal off twist mountain... completely. Nobody should go inside the caves."
She pauses. "Wh- Huh? What happened? Is there something wrong?! You look... tanned."
"You should know that twist mountain is by far one of the largest sources of 'missing person' cases in Unova... and, well, I figured out why." I begin.
"Wh- is there a dangerous pokemon? A legendary?!"
"Twist mountain sends people through time."
"..."
"What?" The woman whispers.
"Earlier today... chronologically... me and my two companions here... were exploring the deepest tunnels of Twist Mountain. It wasn't really a danger to us as I had a pokemon that could teleport... or at least that's what I thought. After around four hours of walking deeper and deeper... we came across a light. An exit."
I look to the wall. "Jarvis. Send her the clip of the first day... labeled 'Groudon Hunt'."
"Yes sir." The wall replies.
Cynthia blurs slightly, her phone vibrating.
Then noise begins to play. There's a loud roar that echoes out, Cynthia's eyebrows shoot upwards.
"X-Xander?" a female voice whispers.
"Yeah?" my own voice replies.
"What the fuck is going on?!" The first voice questions.
"We... ah... just got sent back millions upon millions of years to the past with no way of getting back." The past-me notes as the clip ends.
Cynthia's eyes slowly stray back to me. "Wh- This-"
"I have tens of thousands of hours of footage that I need to edit down into a palatable form."
"Did- did you bring anything back?"
The corners of my mouth turn upwards. "Yes. Yes we did. Pokemon. Plants. And other things."
"..."
"I'll get on setting up a quarantine around twist mountain."
"You'd better hurry. My blueberry academy archeology class is there." I point out, causing the woman's eyes to sharpen.
"Right." She nods once. "After that... do you mind if I visit? I want to see what you've brought back."
"Uh... sure? At the moment I'm planning on just sleeping a bunch in a spot that isn't a rock floor and eating a bunch of fast food."
I look to Courtney. "We should probably send a message to Professor Fennel. To let her know we're fine as well."
She nods once, then rolls over, curling up in the blankets.
Ah. Right. Her rotom is back at Blueberry Academy so it falls to me.
"I'll see you soon, Cynthia. There's frankly a ton I need to get done soon, such as a haircut, a poke-center visits, dentist appointment, etcetera."
"Ah... right. I'll leave you to your night, then. Goodbye Xander, Courtney... ah... and I don't believe I caught your name."
"Zinnia." The tribal woman supplies.
"Ah. Zinnia." Cynthia nods slowly. "Good night."
She ends the call.
"Jarvis, can you begin formatting a text for Miss Fennel?"
"Yes."
Pov: Elsewhere
Alarms blare loudly.
"What- what is this?" One of the many people around the room question.
Deep in the heart of the pokemon league is a monitoring branch designed specifically to catch any and all attempts of capture fraud. In addition, it monitors the location where pokemon are captured.
This allows them to detect any potential invasive species and intrusions into protected lands and pokemon reserves.
There are a few things that can trigger such an alarm. The first being, of course, the location data reading that a pokemon was caught in a restricted area.
Considering that more often than not, the pokemon are also determined as they are captured, there are sometimes exceptions to this rule. Such as catching a Magikarp in a Lapras preserve. Sure. You'll still get the league knocking on your door for that, wondering why you were there, but your crime would be far more lenient than poaching a rare or endangered pokemon.
But.
There's other reasons for alarms to blare.
One.
New pokemon.
If a new species is caught in a pokeball. One that the pokedex has never scanned before, people here will be notified.
This happens quite rarely. Once every decade or so.
The last discovery was a short couple of months ago, so it shouldn't be sending out any alerts...
But it is.
Another possible trigger is the capture of pokemon across the region with barely any time in between.
There have been times in the past where a pokemart employee has linked sold pokeballs to their own pokemon account. Practically stealing away the ownership from people who actually caught said pokemon.
The pokemon league takes this very seriously. So the league makes sure to check these alerts despite the false positives people sometimes give due to teleportation.
The most relevant trigger today would be the simultaneous capture of over three pokemon.
"What are we dealing with?" A man questions as he struts into the room.
"Over fifty pokemon caught..." A woman quietly lists off.
"Which regions?" The leader asks.
"Johto... the same region, actually... the same- what? The same area as well!?" The same woman informs.
"Where?"
"Ilex Forest. It appears to be... right in the center of the Johtonian heritage site. But these pokemon... it- every single one is a new species!"
"WHAT?!" The man shouts.
"We- We're unsure if it's fifty of the same new species or if it's possible that there are more than one new species!" The woman continues.
"Which account?!"
There's an image pulled up on the screen of a young boy with whitish light blue hair.
"Xander Welsh. Known pokemon being Eevee, Rotom, a regional variant of Lotad- wait no... it's gone... and an Ostariokarp... which has been removed from the system? Did he trade it?" She begins to list.
"It could have evolved." Another voice interjects. "We haven't added the hypothetical 'Ostariodos' to our system yet. Nor the regional variant for that Lotad. We could be looking at an Ostariodos and a Ludicolo."
"He still has the pokeball IDs in his account... they seem to have evolved, Sir." The original woman observes.
"We need to have a word with him. Do we have anyone near Ilex forest? How did he even get over there? Isn't this brat from Unova?"
"Incoming call from Champion Cynthia."
"Oh great... what now?" The man sighs.
WELL.
Smoot.
