137. A Dragon and a Seraphim

Kenshin: Yo Drac, it's been a couple of years, you...good?

Issei: Yeah man, you look like someone used you as a punching bag.

Draconis: Something did, it's called the last two years. Taking nothing but the shots, and not the ones I like, which I can't have anymore. I'll explain more at the end of the chapter

Yama: Awh, someone having a bad year? That-! (body crumples to the floor with a bullet wound in forehead)

Draconis: Thank you Mana, Kenshin pay the lady.

Mana: Actually, shooting him is pro bono for me outside of chapters.

A Dragon and A Seraphim.

Draconis: Begin!

Issei's head was laying on his desk, it was early March now. Everyone had been recovering through late January through February, but that didn't mean students like he, Kenshin, Asia, Yukari, Xenovia, Miyuki, Irina, as well as Kiba, Raynare, Koneko, Gasper, Ravel and Kazumi escaped completely, it was even bad for Rossweisse and she was a teacher.

"End of Semester tests are finally over..." Issei said, completely dispirited and exhausted.

"I would laugh at you for looking like that, but being laid up the entire time sucked major ass, even if Negi helped make sure I kept on the studies." Kenshin said, his eyes barely open.

"Least you got a sexy pregame reward out of it last night." Issei grumbled.

"You think either Kenshin or I planned on our Succubus and Incubus instincts awakening last night?" Yukari whispered to herself. "Yeah it was fun, but fuck I could not think straight during those tests half the time."

"Minagi's daughters are living with us now, and they used to be the Imps by the way." Miyuki whispered. "I'm sure at least one of them could use a snack later."

"We'll see." Issei said as the Church Trio and Raynare approached.

Asia spoke first. "We fell behind in our studies a lot because of everything that happened. It was hard playing catch up."

"Haa...no kidding, even for me it was a massive hassle." Miyuki said with a sighing smile.

"Yeah Issei-kun, Kenshin-nii, we still had to continue with our school life while fulfilling our duties, you two sure did overwork yourselves." Irina said massaging Issei's shoulders.

"I had fun though, both were worth doing." Xenovia said.

"I'm exhausted for a completely different reason actually, one that I will not go into." Kenshin said.

"..." Raynare pulled Yukari aside. "OK, spill."

"What makes you think you can make me spill anything?" Yukari said with narrowed eyes.

"Oh don't give me that bull. Kenshin may rake my last nerve but there's no denying he's practically godlike when it comes to stamina and I saw him come out of your room this morning in his Kuoh Uniform, yet he's like that? Just how hard were you making him blow your back out?" Raynare asked.

"Ugh, Alright I'll tell you, but only because I'm too tired myself to make you go away right now. Just keep this under your bra." Yukari sighed. "OK, so you know how Alma Elma's a Succubus, right?"

"The current Succubus Queen, yeah?" Raynare said. "What's tha-"

"Let me finish, as it turns out, Kenshin, Miyuki, Mom and I all have Succubus and in the former's case Incubus genetics that were laying dormant...until in Kenshin and I's case, last night." Yukari said. "As they say, Ladies first."

"Ah, so your Succubus DNA and instincts woke up...what'd ya do first? Suck the red off his candy cane?" Raynare teased.

"Christmas was like three months ago...but no actually." Yukari drawled. "Wait, why the hell would you be interested in this anyway? It's Kenshin, the guy you just admitted rakes your last nerve."

"What? A girl can't indulge in some lewd gossip with another girl?" Raynare shrugged "I like me a good lemon."

"Lemon?" Yukari blinked.

"A good sex story, but I suppose you're right. Here's neither a good place or time." Raynare said.

"Wha? ! I'm not talking about my sex life with you so you can use it as fodder when Issei isn't taking you to Scream City!" Yukari snapped.

"..." The two felt sets of eyes on them and turned to see Kenshin, Issei, Asia, Irina, Miyuki and Xenovia all staring at them.

"K-Keep information like that to yourselves!" Irina said.

"Aaaauuuuu..." Asia said looking down with an intense blush.

"Hmn, I suppose a few pointers wouldn't hurt." Xenovia said.

"Kenshin, you know some of the things Yukari says about me hurt." Issei muttered.

"She didn't mean it that way. You wanna have a harem? You do know some days you won't get to be with some of them right?" Kenshin said.

"Oooohhh...right shoulda figured." Issei said. "How would Yukari even know how good I am anyway?"

"Right." Kenshin snorted. "The only dick she sucks is mine, her words not mine...what I wanna know is why Raynare's asking about her sex life."

"Haa...thank goodness the class is empty" Miyuki sighed, bringing the attention onto herself. "Raynare, stop trying to find inspiration for your erotica through other people."

"...Erotica?" Kenshin, Yukari, Issei, Irina, Asia and Xenovia said.

Raynare glowered. "You had to say something. If you weren't such a good beta reader I'd be angrier."

"Yeah Yeah." Miyuki said blowing a bubble gum bubble. "What the hell's wrong with what you got right now? It may not be a complete book, but you were doing good."

"Haa...with everything that happened lately I slammed into writer's block." Raynare sighed.

"You also lost your father figure for an indeterminate amount of time to a place we can't reach. Just relax, it's not like you're on a deadline. It's your first damn book." Miyuki said.

"..." Everyone went silent at this.

"Fuck..." Miyuki sighed. "I...I shouldn't have said that...damn my motormouth."

"It's OK." Raynare said with a sigh. "You bring up a good point, it's not like I need money or anything...writing was just helping to take my mind off of everything."

The door opened and Kiryuu, accompanied by Katase and Murayama came in. "Hey you guys." Kiryuu greeted.

"How is everything?" Murayama said,sensing the depressing atmosphere around them.

"..." Katase sighed. "What she means is that, how are things going on the other side."

Kenshin stood up and walked toward the window. Opening it before pulling out a smoke. Lighting it up he took a puff, exhaling and sighing at the same time. "You three were allowed to know about the supernatural for too long, so the Grigori should have passed you over when wiping the planets memories about what happened over a month ago..."

"What was that...monster..." Murayama said.

"What you said it was." Irina said with a solemn look.

"The Beast from the Book of Revelation." Asia said, shaking slightly.

"Yes, that was Beast of the Apocalypse." Xenovia said with a hard look.

"He also doubles as something known as the Primordial of Corruption. What that is, we don't quite know." Yukari said. "What we do know is that it's curse brings out the absolute worst in a person."

"We know one other thing, it was strong enough to make even The Almighty pause." Miyuki said.

"Se-Seriously?" Katase said with wide eyes.

"He had to seal it away, then we had to seal it away again. Doing this cost most of the Mythological Pantheons some form of their leadership and great deals of their armies." Kenshin said.

"Right, and one of those was Azazel-Sensei." Murayama said.

"What's the story you guys are telling the school again?" Kiryuu asked.

"That problems came up in his home country and he had to return home." Raynare said.

"Stick to that." Kenshin said finishing his smoke and walking out of the classroom.

He left the academy and walked around town for a few hours Heinrich started to strike a conversation with him. "You sure you shouldn't go see a shrink like Ajuka suggested? For that reoccurring nightmare you've been having?"

"Why? So I can put that shrink in the loony bin?" Kenshin thought. "I was gonna train today, but the fact that exams were today kinda spoiled that. Maybe Mary's not busy and I can let you two hang out."

"Remember when I asked you to use Gnome's power between tests to make a small golem?" Heinrich asked. "I sent it to her asking if she was free, but she said she was going to be busy getting her room in order at the house."

"Gotcha." Kenshin mentally nodded. "Who is she rooming with again?"

"I believe Saja offered to room with her." Heinrich said.

"Right. So that's those two. I believe Minagi and Kanade are rooming together and Kanon and Hiruko are rooming together. What's funny is that the only one who needs a bed out of those four is Minagi and we told her explicitly she is not to bring what she calls her 'midnight snacks' home with her." Kenshin thought.

"You're welcome for that." Yuurei said with a drawl.

"I still find the mental image of the legendary Ragnarok Kuroshi yelling at Minagi to quote 'Get a fucking room with silencing seals' hilarious." Heinrich thought.

Kenshin made his stop at a familiar place. Draco's pub. He entered and simultaneously put on an illusion. The place was busy. He sat at the bar and Draco approached him.

"The usual?" Draco asked.

"Yeah." Kenshin said sitting back in his chair.

"Gotcha." Draco said pouring him a mug of beer before taking out a bottle of vodka and leaving it there. "Thanks for putting on the illusion." He whispered. "Got a lot more regular humans tonight."

"I imagine that'll happen more and more." Kenshin said. "I suggest hiring a bouncer for them. The supernatural know this is my preferred drinking spot and if they fuck it up, I'm fucking them up." He took a pull off the mug. "So how's business been anyway?"

"Well some of these holidays are new to me." Draco said. "The hell is 'White Day'?"

"A month after Valentine's Day here in Japan it's the men's turn to buy a gift for their significant other. I've never seen a same sex couple celebrate it so beats me from there." Kenshin said. "Funny thing is as far as I know, the girl only gives the guy store bought or homemade chocolate. The former being a gift saying they like you, while the latter usually signifies something much deeper. The former can just be a friendly gift to someone with which they have no romantic interest."

"Jeez, you must be getting raked over the coals then, you have how many girls who like you?" Draco joked.

"Pfft." Kenshin snorted. "Draco, you realize of course that four of those women might have heard you say that and any of the others would be beating your ass for it, right?"

"Hahahaha." Draco laughed.

"Anyway, from what I've read the White Day present's supposed to be worth two to three times what they gave...I read that and just went 'What?'" Kenshin said. "Like how does that make any sense? I even asked women in or associated with Rikudou in addition to girls my age at the time. They said that they'd appreciate the thought, but the idea seemed absurd. Like they wouldn't want the person they liked to feel obligated to spend a bunch of money on them."

"Right? What's the point? If the couple really liked each other, money doesn't mean a damn thing." Draco said.

"Like I said, it's as far as I know, but how you gonna place an arbitrary value on something someone made from scratch? That someone took time they'll never get back to make? You can't place a value on that. One's time and effort in showing affection and love is invaluable." Kenshin said.

"..." Draco stared at Kenshin silently.

"What?" Kenshin blinked.

"Oh...um...nothing. It's just that sounds like something Taimu told me once before." Draco said glancing up at the ceiling with a short sigh.

"What is it?" Kenshin said.

"Speaking of that...I'm actually glad you showed up. There's something I've been meaning to tell you." Draco said. "But you've been on the mend and this is something I'd rather tell you alone."

"...I'm listening." Kenshin said, his expression becoming serious.

"...Because Taimu and I were lovers. She taught me her time magic." Draco said.

"...I already knew that." Kenshin grunted.

"Let me finish." Draco said. "With this came an ability called 'Future Sight' or rather here in these realms it's called 'Future Predict'"

"Let me stop you there. You can see the future?" Kenshin asked.

"Only glimpses, and I know what you're thinking, but what would have been your first thought if I told you about any of them?" Draco asked. "You'd have thought I had a screw loose."

"Not really, considering who your squeeze was." Kenshin said downing his mug and shot before having them refilled.

"Kenshin, this ability is one I've only seen Gods pull off with impunity. I'm not a God." Draco said. "Shiva and Indra in particular...and it's not even that reliable. You have to use it way in advance."

"So why are you telling me this?" Kenshin asked.

"Because lately when I've tried to use it, what I saw came to pass." Draco said with a serious expression. "I knew you would run Alipheese through the chest with your dual blade, what I didn't see was you pouring a Phoenix Tear on her afterward."

"OK?" Kenshin said.

"That big blow up you had in the council chambers in the Underworld? I saw you charging a Quadruple Giga." Draco said.

"..." Kenshin stared at him.

"You did do that, didn't you?" Draco asked.

"..." Kenshin looked down at his mug before downing half the contents. "OK, so what if I did? I was pissed the fuck off and worried for the safety of Alice and my children. That still doesn't explain why you're telling me this."

"I saw Sirzechs Lucifer telling you to stand down...and you obeying...but I didn't see why until I heard about you trying to fight a Trihexa core solo." Draco said.

"!" Kenshin looked up at him wide eyed.

"I know nothing short of your body giving out, which it did, if your mending time was anything to go by, or death would keep you from that battlefield." Draco said. "That's one of the reasons Sirzechs benched you among the others. Either he did that, or he would watch you die...and that simply cannot happen."

"Why can't it? I know I've got more to lose now than I ever had before, but why does that justify their sacrifice?" Kenshin said in an embittered tone. "I can take care of myself goddamn it!"

"Kenshin, realize that I've now gone three for three with an ability that's unreliable, that I have to use way in advance, and all three of those times involved you. So I tried catching a glimpse of the future again involving you and I'm tired of my own inaction so I'm telling you this because I hope I'm wrong."

"Ok, so out with it. What did you see?" Kenshin said.

"I saw you. Standing atop a building, but I questioned if it was really even you I was looking at." Draco said.

"Why?" Kenshin asked.

"Because the man I was looking at looked beat the fuck up, tired as hell like he hadn't slept in weeks and his clothes were caked in dirt, grime and blood. There was no one else, no angels, fallen or otherwise, devils or youkai, no DxD, just you." Draco said. "Think about that for a second. Would anyone you live with nowadays let you get that way?"

"..." Kenshin closed his eyes.

"Are the Spirits awake right now?" Draco asked.

"No. See Yukari and I's latent genetics awakened last night. It was at night so I'll let you piece together what genetics. Well the Spirits went at each other while we were doing the same, I told them on the way to the Academy to take a good long nap, because I STILL haven't been cleared for full training."

"I see...that's good." Draco nodded.

"Look Draco, I'll put some stock into your premonition because you HAVE gone three for three on me, but now that I know it, it could easily change. I could have spent awhile at Dana's training." Kenshin said.

"That's all I ask, is that you don't completely discount me. I know it sounds crazy." Draco said."Oh?" He said looking up.

"What?" Kenshin asked.

"Nothing, I'll leave you two to chat. Have a seat ma'am, I'll bring you your usual." Draco said said.

"Ma'am? Draco, damn it don't try to ease the tension by having me chat it up with a random bar rat." Kenshin thought disparagingly.

So imagine Kenshin's surprise when he heard a familiar voice, but not at all one he ever expected to hear at Draco's pub of all places. "Thank you Draco-San, put it on my weekly tab."

"Eh?" Kenshin said he saw the flowing long blonde locks and baby blue eyes of the Seraphim Gabriel. She was wearing a blue ladies business suit with white stockings.

She turned her head toward him. "Oh, Kenshin-San hello there..." She tilted her head. "Isn't it a little early for you to be here though?"

"Uhhh...Hi." Kenshin waved dumbly, glad he was keeping a good poker face as he thought. "What is she doing here? ! I would not have pegged Gabriel as someone who goes to pubs...oh my god I mentally insinuated that she was a random bar rat!" He then caught what she said as he glanced toward the window, the sun had fully set. "You're razzing me for being here a little earlier than normal...wait, did I hear you tell Draco to 'put it on your tab' how often do you come here?"

Gabriel's response was to merely giggle as she was served a glass of red wine, waving Draco off as he left her the bottle. "Oh Kenshin-San, I'm just teasing you, we angels are allowed to tease."

"Yeah...wasn't that teasing basically one of the reasons that drove Azazel to fall?" Kenshin said.

"A-Aah..." Gabriel seemed taken aback by this. "They were just poking fun. Michael, Uriel, Raphael and I didn't think he'd take it so seriously."

"And that's me teasing you. Sorry, my humor's a little dry tonight." Kenshin said taking a sip of his ale. "Now seriously. You come here often enough to open a tab? How have I neither noticed your presence in Kuoh, nor bumped into you here until now."

"Oh, that's OK then." Gabriel smiled. "This town is relaxing, and I do enjoy some red wine from time to time. It's not like I'm here every day."

"Point taken." Kenshin said. "Also could ya please make up your mind?"

"Pardon?" Gabriel asked tilting her head curiously, a question mark appearing above her head.

Kenshin resisted the urge to snort humorously at this, knowing the humans here wouldn't believe Gabriel using her light manipulation to be cute as something that actually happened.

However...he himself didn't know for sure if she was doing it on purpose or not. "Kenshin-San, Kenshin-kun...the suffixes. I believe you've even called me Kenshin-Sama at one point?"

"Well, I do not know which you prefer." Gabriel said brushing her hair to the side, taking a sip of her wine.

"..." Kenshin stared.

"She's got you there." Yuurei commented.

"Yeah no kidding." Kenshin thought. "Well, Kenshin or Kenshin-kun is fine...I'm not big on formalities unless they're needed."

"Very well, so what brings you here Kenshin?" Gabriel asked.

"Unwinding." Kenshin said. "Let's just say I had a busy night last night and Kuoh's finals didn't help." "Among other things." He thought.

"That and you've been on the mend from what I hear. It must be driving you up a wall." Gabriel said.

"Unholy crap,yes! Like you wouldn't believe!" Kenshin said with a shuddering sigh. "I've only been cleared for about seventy percent of my full training regimen. It keeps me in shape, but I'm not looking forward to de-rusting."

"Oh I'm sure you'll do just fine." Gabriel said giving his shoulder a comforting squeeze.

"Thanks." Kenshin said with a smile as he downed another shot and chased it with ale.

Gabriel looked at the bottle of vodka he had. It was half full. "Haven't you had a little much?"

"Oh this?" Kenshin said tapping the bottle. "It was two thirds full when I got here. I have Draco hold on to liquor I don't finish, cause I've went drunk diving into my seals before...NEVER. AGAIN. Took me weeks to sort everything back the way I had it."

Gabriel giggled at the mental image. "I see."

"I'm also not looking forward to all the crap I'm gonna have to deal with as the Acting Leader of DxD." Kenshin said. "But, thems the breaks. Heaven needs Dulio right now and I have no idea what's going on with Sun Wukong."

"I'm sure he's very busy." Gabriel reassured.

"I guess...a call would be nice though." Kenshin said. "But enough about me. What brings you here?"

"Conincidentally, I'm here to unwind myself." Gabriel said.

"You?" Kenshin asked. "You always seem so cheerful, with a pep in your step."

"And playful, I know, but everyone needs a reprieve." Gabriel said "This past month has been...hectic to say the least."

"..." Kenshin went silent.

"Why do you feel like they abandoned you?" Gabriel asked.

"I...I don't. I was just speaking out of embitterment and more toward myself than anything." Kenshin said finishing his ale and pushing the mug forward, turned upside down.

"Why is that?" Gabriel asked.

"Why else? I thought I was supposed to be the one to beat Trihexa, bring some sort of peace to the world. Not only does Trihexa basically use me as a crash test dummy and I completely blow it. Sirzechs left me here to now not only protect and obviously now love his sister, but now protect his entire family . In the end Sirzechs was right anyway. I woulda been a complete liability if I had went with them...Still...it's a fighter's...a warrior's greatest shame to be left from the field of battle." Kenshin said downing a shot of vodka.

"Well, while it's true in condition you were in you wouldn't have been much help." Gabriel said.

"...OK...that stung." Kenshin said with a wince.

"You didn't let me finish." Gabriel said. "You also left everything you had on the battlefield that day. Such valor is to be commended...you should feel no shame for not being able to fight further." Gabriel said finishing her glass before pouring herself another.

"..." Kenshin stared at her at a loss for words.

She took notice as she sipped her wine. "What is it?"

"N-Nothing." Kenshin said pouring another shot but not immediately taking it. "Thanks." He said with a mirthful chuckle. "I guess I needed to hear that again. Thank you." He downed the shot before pushing the bottle itself forward. "I'm gonna let this sit a bit before heading out. Was just looking to catch a little buzz."

"Well you're welcome." Gabriel smiled. "Same here."

"Well, you heard me out. What has you needing to unwind, what's been hectic?" Kenshin asked.

"Oh, I wouldn't want to burden you with my grievances." Gabriel said tittering nervously, waving him off.

Kenshin reached over and grabbed said hand. "Gabirel, it's not a burden. I'm right here if you need to talk...or vent or whatever."

"..." Gabriel felt her face heat up as Kenshin looked her in the eyes. "O-OK..." She paused to take a sip of wine before sighing. "As you probably are already aware. Uriel, Raphael and Michael left with the others with their card suits." She said.

"..." Kenshin listened on.

"That leaves me behind to not only act as Heaven's new regent...I'm taking over for Michael as far as observing and controlling the System." Gabriel said. "However..." She paused to sigh again. "However...I'm no better at it than Michael was." She spoke solemnly, a morose undertone in her voice.

"Every angel is like family to me...so seeing them all leave like they did...leaves a hole I guess." Gabriel said. "Other than that...I've just been weary from having to take on the other Seraph's work..." She finished and drank the rest of the wine in her glass before pushing it and the bottle forward. "This is the last time I'll be able to come here like this. I doubt I'll have the time."

"..." Kenshin got up and turned to Gabriel. "You wanna get out of here?"

"Yes, if I have any more. I suppose I'll begin to wallow." Gabriel said getting up. She and Kenshin made their way out leaving a note and money for Draco.

Draco came by and read the note. "You know I was just screwing with you when I said I drink for free back in Makai." Draco blinked at this and let out a chuckle

As Gabriel and Kenshin walked a brisk wind blew. "..." Gabriel couldn't help shivering.

"..." Kenshin took his jacket off and placed it on her shoulders. She looked at him curiously. "The cold isn't much to me...I know it's not your color but please bear with it."

"No no..." Gabriel said before smiling. "Thank you."

"..." Kenshin looked forward, but if one were to look closer, they'd see a faint flush to his cheeks. "No problem...so where are you heading. We can head to Issei's place so you can use the portal there to get back to Heaven if you like." Kenshin said.

"Actually...I've rented out a hotel room for tonight...would you mind walking me there?" Gabriel asked.

"Of course not, lead the way." Kenshin said. "How did you come here without any of us noticing anyway? I thought for sure Irina would at least notice you, but no. You pulling up next to me took me by surprise."

"Well I'm not hostile and if we wish to blend in, we can." Gabriel said.

"I see..." Kenshin nodded. "Could I pull the same thing if I used that Halo you gave us?"

"I don't see why not, but the security system would trip the moment you did go hostile." Gabriel said.

"The security system? You mean that thing Issei kept tripping in Heaven for being a huge pervert?" Kenshin asked rhetorically.

"Hmhmhm." Gabriel laughed a bit. "That's only part of it."

"..." Kenshin smiled a bit. "It's good to hear her laugh." He thought.

"For example, when Father called Sir Ragnarok and Yama to Heaven, he intentionally shut it off. That's when Michael and I confronted him. "Raphael and Uriel were off handling the the disarmament."

"..." Kenshin went silent.

Gabriel and Kenshin entered a nearby hotel Gabriel went to bid Kenshin adieu when Kenshin cleared his throat. "Actually Gabriel, if you don't mind, I'll accompany you to your room."

"It's no trouble?" Gabriel asked.

"Not at all." Kenshin said. "Absolutely no offense to anyone at home, but it's nice to get out of that house for awhile and it's not like we've spent much time together."

"..." Gabriel stared at him for a moment before nodding. He couldn't tell if she was tired, thankful or perturbed.

"As you probably are already aware. Uriel, Raphael and Michael left with the others with their card suits." Kenshin's thoughts traveled back to their conversation at Draco's pub.

"That leaves me behind to not only act as Heaven's new regent...I'm taking over for Michael as far as observing and controlling the System." Gabriel said. "However..." She paused to sigh again. "However...I'm no better at it than Michael was." She spoke solemnly, a morose undertone in her voice.

"She was left behind to hold down Heaven while Michael, Raphael and Uriel fight, yet she already feels she failed." Kenshin thought as they boarded the elevator.

"Every angel is like family to me...so seeing them all leave like they did...leaves a hole I guess." Gabriel said. "Other than that...I've just been weary from having to take on the other Seraph's work..." "This is the last time I'll be able to come here like this. I doubt I'll have the time."

The two disembarked the elevator. "She had to say farewell to so much of her family."Kenshin thought. "It's not just weariness and wanting to kick back and have a good time. Far from it..."

"When Father called Sir Ragnarok and Yama to Heaven, he intentionally shut it off. That's when Michael and I confronted him."

"It's not even the first time she's had to do it...she's jus-" Kenshin was jostled from his thoughts.

"We're here." Gabriel said as they stood in front of a door.

"Oh! U-Um, sorry I kinda lost myself in thought." Kenshin said with a sheepish smile.

"That's alright." Gabriel said with a smile. "It happens to everyone from time to time, but...I suppose I'll bid you adieu for the night." She slowly turned away, but Kenshin looked her right in the eyes.

"...I'll apologize if I'm wrong." Kenshin thought. "Gabriel."

Gabriel turned back toward him. "Yes?"

Kenshin reached forward with his right hand, cupping her left cheek. "..." He gazed into her eyes.

The Seraph felt her body grow warm to his touch, her face going alight with red.

"..." Kenshin leaned his face toward hers, their lips grazing against each other, but neither pulling away. Hesitantly, Kenshin wrapped his left arm around her, pulling her closer.

Gabriel lost her balance slightly and caught herself against the wall, her right hand placed above her head for support. Her left hand grazing his chest before wrapping around Kenshin's neck. Getting her bearings in order, her right hand slapped the anti fall knob on the door to her hotel room as it swung open.

Their kiss increased in intensity as Kenshin's right leg swung up and kicked the door shut, his and Gabriel's tongues slipping and sliding against each other as their bodies pressed against each other as well. Finally Gabriel pushed him back gently so she could take a breath.

"..." Kenshin blinked for a moment or two before he realized what he just did. "Oh my God I am so sorry!" He clapped his hands together and bowed over and over again. "A-Are you alright, you didn't fall did you? I-I mean the kiss was intentional, but I didn't expect it to turn into a full blown makeout session!"

"..." Gabriel stared at Kenshin blinking for a bit.

"Hehehehehehehehe~!" Gabriel giggled uncontrollably.

"...Huh?" Kenshin said, utterly confused.

"Kenshin, look where we are." Gabriel said, still going strong.

"We're...in a room...a room...O-Oh!" Kenshin said.

(snort, snort pffftt!)

"Aaaaaahh...!" Gabriel waved her face with her right hand. "Thank you Kenshin, I needed that laugh."

"Wait...it takes two...to play tongue twister like that..." Kenshin said.

"Besides, didn't I tell you before we Angels are fully allowed to kiss." Gabriel teased.

"Yeah, but I expected to be the one to be doing all the kissing, then get conked over the head by a light mallet and would have apologized." Kenshin said. "You...um...participated in that as much as I did, Gabriel...are you?."

"I suppose I-..." Gabriel said glancing away only to get cut off.

"...I'm sorry. That wa-" Kenshin was cut off as Gabriel came over and wrapped her arms around him

"...It was that, Gabriel watched her family leave again, the duties of her station intensifying and felt she had no one to talk to about it. At the crux of it all...she's lonely." Kenshin thought.

Gabriel pulled away after a few minutes and wiped her eyes. "T-Thank you. That was most unbeco-"

"Don't." Kenshin cut her off. "I'm sorry for forcing the issue."

"Mmmnn..." Gabriel shook her head. "It was bound to come out sooner or later."

"Well, it's more...I don't like seeing people cry." Kenshin said. "So...I was right? You feel lonely?"

"Not completely, but you're pretty much in the ballpark." Gabriel said.

"So, we're both sorry. Let's just accept it and move on." Kenshin said.

"Yes." Gabriel nodded.

An uncomfortable silence settled in for a few minutes before Kenshin broke it."I'll uh...send for my coat, you're probably tired and sleepy and there's only one bed." Kenshin said.

"Actually...I don't mind..." Gabriel said.

"Eh?" Kenshin said. "You...want to cuddle up against me?"

Gabriel tilted her head. "Is that what they call it?"

"..." Kenshin sent her a deadpan stare. "You just made out with me a little while and you don't know what cuddling is?"

Gabriel giggled. "Not buying it huh?"

"Not even with all of Midas' gold." Kenshin snickered. "But really? Me?"

"Is there a problem with it being you?" Gabriel asked with a smile.

"Well if you want, just give me a few minutes to shoot a message to everyone so they don't go looking for me." Kenshin said.

"Alright, I could use the same time to change." Gabriel said as she walked away.

Kenshin took out his phone, typing in a message to Yukari,Negi and Rias who were the only ones online in the group message he was in with the othes living at Issei's house. "Hey, I'm not gonna be home tonight." He thought.

"I swear the first chance you get to get out of the house you hit the dash." Yukari replied.

"Is everything alright?" Negi replied.

"What's going on?" Rias replied.

"Well excuse me for getting stir crazy Yukari. Everything's fine Negi, no cause for alarm and I bumped into someone while I was out and they requested I stay the night with them Rias." Kenshin replied.

"Well I suppose you have a point. Alright, thanks for checking in. Who was it? An old friend of yours?"

"Thank you Yukari, you're welcome Negi and...well it was Gabriel, Rias."

"WHAT? !" The collective response from all three of them was.

"Look, we bumped into each other at Draco's pub, surprising I know and she wanted someone to spend the night with. Seriously it's Gabriel, if anything I thought you'd worry about me trying something." Kenshin replied.

"When people said you like to aim high, they aren't kidding though, fighting or otherwise, well you're not an idiot, take it easy, love you-Yukari. It's still a Seraphim Kenshin, pardon me for being shocked. Anyway, good night and be on your best behavior, I love you."

"Thanks Yukari, Negi. Love you too" Kenshin thought. He opened a private window with Rias. "She's seeking comfort in me by doing this. Everything will be fine Rias."

"I know, still it's surprising...and the other girls and I were gonna cozy up with you tonight too." Rias replied.

"Well make me pay for it next time, see you tomorrow I love you Rias. I was talking with Yukari and Negi too, so you don't need to for them, but give everyone my best for me." Kenshin thought.

"Oh we will, and be a good boy now." Rias sent back a teasing text. "I love you too."

The conversation ended and Kenshin held his phone in hand, but noticed Gabriel walk behind the dressing screen, but because of the light he could see her figure cast against it. He could see the outline of a bra being pulled off before bending over to grab what looked like a pair of short pajama pants.

If Kenshin were more like Issei, he'd surely have dropped his phone with either a trail of saliva coming out of his mouth, or blood coming out of his nose as Gabriel slipped her long supple legs into the pants. He could however not tear his eyes away from the sight.

Gabriel glances over to her side of the screen. Kenshin's own shadow being cast against it. "Is he..." Her face went alit with a blush. "His ears being out suggest that he's looking in this direction. He knows he can't see anything but my outline right? So why is my heart aflutter?" She cleared her throat. "A-Ahem...co-could you please not look this way?" She scolded.

"!" Kenshin began to sweat. "U-Uhh, S-Sorry...I-I'll go ahead and change too."

Gabriel finished in a pair of sky blue pajamas, but paused seeing Kenshin's silhouette cast against her side of the screen just as her own was cast against his side. She watched him take off his Kuoh jacket. The black shirt followed. "..." Gabriel remained silent.

Figuring that Gabriel was too absorbed in her own outfit change. Kenshin began to think out loud. "Whew...I really didn't understand how much of an effort Salamander puts into controlling my body heat in anything that doesn't have the control runes sewn into it, I'll have to thank her when she wakes up. Even with my shirt and jacket completely removed I'm burning up. Still I need to be polite...hope Gabriel doesn't mind an open shirt..."

Now Gabriel had seen Kenshin's body of work before and Gabriel would only admit it to herself, that even a pure hearted female angel like herself would find it a mite difficult to not fumble over her words at the mere sight of Kenshin's exposed upper body, but in this room, the anti fall room, she saw an opportunity...and by her own Heavenly Father, she could not help herself. "Umh, you say the fire spirit's sleeping right now? Sorry, I couldn't help but overhear."

"Yeah?" Kenshin said taking out a thin vest.

"Then please make yourself comfortable, it is still early spring after all." Gabriel said. "I think my bedding is much too thin anyway." To her credit this was true, she usually ran a heater when she was cold and preferred thinner sheets and what not anyway, however, she had a feeling she wouldn't need a heater tonight.

"So, you don't care if I wear something that lets me vent my body heat? I'm gonna be honest with you I need to change my whole outfit." Kenshin said.

"Oh please, don't mind me." Gabriel tittered, but a bit of a blush working it's way onto her face.

"OK..." Kenshin said taking out a pair of boxer shorts. "This is getting to be awkward." He thought, not noticing Gabriel's eyes glued to her end of the dressing screen, watching him undress.

The blush on Gabriel's face got darker as she smiled shyly as she watched Kenshin. Whether it was her own new found loneliness or the alcohol they both enjoyed earlier driving her to fantasize, but she was now watching the outline of a man she secretly found to be very, VEEEERRYYY attractive undress. The seraphim's mind began to wander. She began to vividly imagine him saying to her. "Gabriel...these clothes really suit you, still...don't you feel overdressed? This is your own anti fall room isn't it?"

"Y-Yesss..." She quietly squeaked.

"Then come and join me in the bed...and I'll...help you out of them."

Before her fantasy could play out any further, Gabriel felt something wet dribbling down her cheek and chin, she wiped it only to realize that she was drooling. This sent Gabriel into a panicked frenzy that she managed to keep quiet "Oh by my Father, please forgive me!" She thought. "I'm the only Seraphim left and your first daughter yet I was standing here in lust!"She moved to pray but lost her balance knocking the dressing screen over just as Kenshin had finished changing. "Ehehehehe~..." She giggled nervously.

"Are you OK?" Kenshin asked and received a nervous nod. He then grinned. "Couldn't help yourself eh Gabriel-Chan?"

"S-Sorry." Gabriel said getting to her feet, only for Kenshin to flick her on the forehead. She turned back to Kenshin with a scolded puppy look in her eyes, tears in the corners of them as well.

"Calm down." Kenshin said as he pulled Gabriel to her bed, wearing a thin black vest and boxer shorts. "Answer a few questions for me. What is your name?"

"G-Gabriel." Gabriel answered, not seeing his point.

"Funny, that's an androgynous name. I've met a man named Gabriel. You know what he was?" Not waiting for an answer Kenshin went on. "Dude was a total sleaze ball."

"Eh?" Gabriel said curiously.

"Which brings me to question two. Are you a male or a female?" Kenshin asked. Gabriel tried to answer but Kenshin went further. "Do you have the babymaker or are you carrying the sack and stem like me?"

"I-I'm a woman thank you very much!" Gabriel said with an indignant blush. "I may be a Seraphim but I'm female!"

"I see, thanks for clearing that up. OK, last question, Do you have free will?" Kenshin asked.

"E-Eh?" Gabriel said. "Do I..."

"Can you think for yourself or is it the closer you are to ol Yahweh, the less you can think for yourself? That you become so single minded that you ignore your own needs and wants." Kenshin asked.

"A...Ah...th-that hurts." Gabriel said, glancing away with a conflicted look. "I have emotional, mental and physical wants and needs, but-" Kenshin cut her off.

"But nothing, you fantasized about me on the other end of that screen, just like I did to you. Before your father slapped twelve golden wings on your back and gave you a halo. He made you in the image of a woman, but I believe no Being is above their basic emotional, physical and mental wants and needs. You can't live life so singlemindedly, elseway you miss the point of living entirely. I know there's more to it than that, but-" Gabriel placed her hand over his lips.

"I think I understand now. I never...really thought about it that way before, I don't think any of us did. All we knew in life was to serve and support Father, but I can't help feeling that he felt that leads to an unfulfilling life." Gabriel said with a sincere smile. "Thank you Kenshin."

"No problem." Kenshin said with a smile of his own. "Don't be sorry about having those thoughts...what you should be sorry about is not acting on them sooner with that pure heart of yours." This time he poked her on the forehead making her giggle. "I mean, you all call Yahweh or the Almighty Father...wouldn't he want his children to be good, but also lead fulfilling lives, to be happy? Not saying you weren't but still."

"You know, in your own special kind of way, you're wise beyond your years." Gabriel said before letting out a cute yawn, stretching her arms over her head. Kenshin's eyes couldn't help but be drawn to her figure. Gabriel noticed this and poked his nose teasingly. Kenshin shook his head and chuckled softly. "Aren't you the one always worried about making me fall? We're in the right room for staring."

"Aah, call it a force of habit. I just wouldn't want Heaven going to Hell to raise nine tenths of it." Kenshin said.

"Heaven...go to Hell to-pffftt!" Gabriel sputtered before laughing. She tried to breathe in only for another fit of laughter to come out causing her to snort. "Oh my Father I don't know why I find that to be so hilarious!"

"Aahh, aaahh." Kenshin snickered with a grin. "Alright Laughing Seraphim let's get laid down."

Gabriel calmed down and nodded with a smile laying on her back with Kenshin joining her. He rolled around trying to get comfortable, he eventually did, laying on his side, but couldn't sleep. "What's the point...? I'm just gonna have that damn nightmare again and I'd rather not seek physical comfort in Gabriel given her position..." He thought.

"Kenshin..." Gabriel placed a hand on his back. "You know, it's not fair that I'm the only one that got everything off my chest...if you want...I'm listening."

"...Haa..." Kenshin let out a sigh. "Well...where do you want me to start?"

"Why don't we take it from the top?" Gabriel offered.

"Very well..." Kenshin let out a breath. "A few months back Euclid Lucifuge abducted Ravel Phenex, Koneko Toujou, Kazumi Asakura and Gasper Vladi. That was dealt with and is no longer the issue. What is the issue is that's where my problems with the Devil council started. They tried to pin Euclid's bullshit on his elder sister Grayfia, Sirzechs' wife. Over time I defended her tooth and nail in those damn chambers and eventually got her name cleared. I was happy to do it. I knew she had nothing to do with Euclid and they still tried railroading her by saying she violated her probation by accompanying Zeoticus Gremory, his wife Venerana and Grayfia and Sirzechs' own son Millicas to see me after the Ialda issue was settled."

"Jeez..." Gabriel winced.

"Then it came time for me to go back to Makai to settle things with Alipheese the First and the council is still up my backside with a microscope. I come back from that and find out Alice the current Demon Queen was abducted and taken to Rizevim by Diehauser Belial who was having his own parents threatened with death by Yama. I was thinking The Great King Faction ordered it at first and stormed in there. Demigod state on full blast ready to catch bodies and I'm not even including when the Great King Faction thought I was ordering my dead relatives brought back by Yama to fuck their shit up and Lord Yeager Bael still destroyed my grandparents remains right in front of me."

"!" Gabriel gasped. "He did not..."

"I wish I could say he didn't. Then just after the Agreas mission ended in semi failure because Trihexa was unleashed. Here I am in the council chambers again and at this point I'm OUT of patience. All they had to do was sit back and let me and DxD work and we coulda stopped all this shit, but no, because my Devil Council problems got in the way of DxD's goings on, the shit was allowed to hit the fan."

"Wow..." Gabriel wrapped her arms around his chest from behind. "Anything more? I'm still listening."

"I still feel like I failed. Not beating Trihexa. Looking back I was pretty arrogant thinking I could solo one of the cores, but also the Main Core...It's just Rizevim had appeared before me after my fight against Alipheese. I mastered the Demigod State, but I promised Vali the actual kill, but I can't help thinking I could have prevented things happening had I just eighty sixed Rizevim myself."

"Well from Irina's, Xenovia's and Griselda's reports as well as Azazel's Rizevim gave up his life force and soul to fully awaken Trihexa...maybe you could have prevented it, or maybe he had that all ready to go after the battle in Heaven...that's the thing about Hindsight. It's twenty-twenty." Gabriel said kissing the nape of Kenshin's neck. "I guess all I can say is...focus on the future."

"Which is what I'm going to do. Sirzechs left me with requests to protect his family...but also..." Kenshin went silent.

"Also...?" Gabriel said.

"He recommended me for Satanhood and Zekram Bael agreed. I'm basically being asked to ascend to Satan status and I know NOTHING about running a world." Kenshin said. "I've already been talked to by Ajuka and Yukari about this, but I figure I should tell you everything."

"I see..." Gabriel said. "I guess we're both in the same position then. Having necessity and title thrust upon us."

"Yeah...I don't know what I'm gonna do yet." Kenshin said.

"Well for right now maybe we should do what we got in this bed to do, but I must admit...I've never...actually cuddled with anyone before. I was usually..." Gabriel paused.

"Using a pillow?" Kenshin said. "Well there's no real wrong way to go about it. Hell even kissing and stroking of the body and hair is acceptable. Just do whatever you're comfortable with."

"R-Right." Gabriel said with a bit of a rosy blush. "So just do what comes naturally?"

"Yes...here...uhm...I'll make the first move." Kenshin said moving closer to the Seraphim, wrapping an arm around her waist, pulling her in close. His other hand snaking around to the back of her head, stroking her hair gently...before.

It was a soft chaste kiss on the lips, but still a warmth shot through Gabriel's body as she rolled on top of him, their legs intertwining with each other. "It's just a kiss...the one he gave me earlier was much deeper...so why...am I feeling it so much?" Gabriel wondered.

However, Kenshin was lost on what to do next. He knew he was in the angelic anti fall room. He could press the issue if he wanted to, but still...his own body heat had purged the alcohol he had earlier, he hazarded a guess that the same could not be said for Gabriel, even if she only have maybe three glasses of wine. So he pulled back.

Gabriel stared down at him. "W-Why'd you stop?"

"Uuhh...w-well...I didn't want to take it too far?" Kenshin said.

"You took it much further earlier." Gabriel said with a slight glare.

"..." Kenshin saw this and the fact that her left cheek was puffed out. "Is...she pouting?" Kenshin thought.

"I was feeling something there...don't stop this time..." To Kenshin's surprise, Gabriel lowered her lips onto his and even took it a step further, wrapping her arms around his neck, so that he now could not break the lip lock.

"Wait, she's forcing the issue on me? !" Kenshin thought.

"Mmmhh...!" Gabriel kept pushing, letting out a moan.

Kenshin however, detected something in that seemingly normal action. "She...sounds like she needs this...like she's begging me to take it further."

With that thought in mind. Kenshin relented, his tongue coming out and easily slipping past her lips, stroking against her own. His left hand holding her by the waist, while his right affectionately stroked her blonde locks. They broke apart gazing into each other's eyes for a mere moment, but that's was all that was needed to convey the emotions both of them were feeling.

Their lips smacked and pressed together multiple times. Kenshin felt his hair loosening and looked over seeing the hair tie he had started using to keep his hair more tame as it grew out, it was thin, so a thin tail was all that was needed to hold it together. However, it was now in the hands of the beautiful Seraphim, who seemed to smile and giggle almost playfully at him. However she felt something loosen from around her own head and saw Kenshin's right hand pulling away with a thin circlet headpiece that she had forgotten to take off. Kenshin smiled back, even going as far as to stick his tongue out at her a bit as if to say. 'Two can play the game Gabe.'

However the Seraph simply giggled softly at this, taking the circlet and Kenshin's hair tie and putting them both on the bedside table, giving him one more kiss before gazing longingly into his eyes with a smiling rosey red blush. "Do...you understand what it is I want now?"

"Sorry for being slow on the uptake, but yeah...but are you certain Gabriel? Me of all people?" Kenshin asked.

"What can I really say to defend myself here?" Gabriel asked. "You did ask me if I was so singleminded that I ignored my wants and needs...the answer is...no I don't, but I recognize in myself that I'm terribly shy and nervous about all this. That and it's not like you're faultless in this either."

"Huh?" Kenshin blinked. "Wha? What did I do?"

Gabriel closed her eyes as her smile widened a bit. "Nothing bad I assure you, it's just you've been so nice, caring and considerate and you even found ways to make me laugh despite the situation I'm in right now...then you finally opened up to me about your problems...and it lit a gentle flame in me...you took care of me...and I want to take care of you, just for tonight."

"..." Kenshin stared into Gabriel's eyes as she reopened them. "...W-Wow...and here people say you're naïve."

"That's just my personality, I'm not a fool to the wants and needs, physical, mental or emotional of a man or woman." Gabriel said before sitting up. "Yet I still haven't fully explained myself."

"What do you mean?" Kenshin asked as he sat up with her.

"Well...because of the recent exodus of supernatural sects to go fight Trihexa...angels are being encouraged to copulate and propogate more than ever. Even with the highest ranking members of the Church." Gabriel said. "And I'm..."

"A virgin?" Kenshin asked.

"Mm..." Gabriel nodded.

"But you're the new acting regent, why would you feel forced to-" Kenshin said.

"If the Angels don't get help populating soon, there's a risk of the System failing on it's own despite me." Gabriel said. "I don't feel forced into doing anything , at the same time...I don't hold any affection like that for any of my fellow angels or members of the Church...in short..."

"There has to be a mutual attraction?" Kenshin asked.

"Yes...eh? Wait...Kenshin..." Gabriel began to stammer. "A-Are yo-you saying you'll a-actually go through with this with me? You don't feel like I'm forcing your hand?"

"Nah...like you said, we're caring for one another tonight...and honestly...I've got a confession to make...you've been pushing my buttons ever since we met" Kenshin said with a fond smile.

"Pushing your buttons? I don't understand...how so?" Gabriel asked, blinking curiously.

"By doing stuff like that!" Kenshin snapped with a comical look, blushing slightly. "You always act so kind, sweet and innocent, it makes me lower my guard. The Spirit of Destruction inside me even said this about you. Yeah you're a power archangel, Seraphim, whatever, but the way you usually act...your personality makes you seem as about as threatening as a box full of kittens!"

"I love kittens!" Gabriel gushed before tilting her head with a smile. "But why?"

"Because they're cute and cuddly!" Kenshin snapped again, his blush getting worse.

"Hmhmhm~! I think I get it." Gabriel giggled before pausing as a thought hit her...that made her look up into his eyes, the same lonesome, companionship needing look in her eyes as when they got here and when she pressed the issue on him a bit ago. "Wait, does that...mean you don't find me attractive as a woman at all...only cute...?"

"! !" Kenshin stared at her, freezing up for a moment.

"Partner...I swear to her god and ours...if you somehow talk your way out of this golden opportunity you've just been presented with, nothing you do to me will stop the eternity of joking torment I will rain down on you." Yuurei said. "She. Wants. YOU! She just doesn't know how to come out and say it! Stop pussyfooting around and turn on some of that charm you used on the other girls!"

The blush on Kenshin's face faded completely and he reached over, cupping Gabriel's cheek with a smile. "Hu-!" The Seraphim was silenced as Kenshin kissed her for what seemed like the the umpteenth time tonight if their earlier makeout session and the amount of times their lips smacked together as they parted only to go back for more was any indication. She felt his tongue stroking against hers, but before she could react. Kenshin pulled away and gazed into her eyes.

"Gabriel...I wouldn't do that with you as many times as we have tonight...if I only found you to be cute." He lowered his hand pulling Gabriel toward him and nearly onto his lap, seated between his legs. "Still...you said you were a virgin..." Kenshin whispered into her ear, sending a shiver running through her body. "And being an angel...I can pretty well assume you have no have no idea what it feels like to experience pleasure in the manner we'll be engaging in, am I wrong?"

"Mnmn..." Gabriel shook her head,not trusting her mouth to say it out loud, feeling the heat emanating from Kenshin's body as well as a feeling she was wholly unfamiliar with, but didn't dislike as near silent panting escaped her lips.

"Hmhm..." Kenshin smiled at her, kissing the ridge of her left ear. "You are just precious...ok...leave everything to me Gabriel..." At the same time Kenshin got in touch with Yuurei. "Hey Yuurei. Could you please make sure my re-dormanted Incubus DNA doesn't wake up. I don't think I have to explain how that would be a godawful idea here." He thought.

"Right, Right...sniff sniff. I'm so proud of ya though! Finally bagging the Archangel!" Yuurei mock sobbed.

"I'm not doing this for you, I'm doing this for her and myself." Kenshin thought with a mental eye roll.

His mind refocusing on Gabriel he slipped his arms under hers and reached for the top button on her pajama top. He felt Gabriel freeze up for a second as she realized what he wanted. "We're undressing already?" She spoke with a shy tone.

"Heheh, give me some credit Gabe. No we're not but I need to unfasten the top three buttons. If you don't want me to look yet, I won't." Kenshin chided playfully as he buttoned her top and rolled it off her shoulders and down around her elbows. "Now..."

"H-Haa...?" Gabriel gasped curiously, feeling his hands smooth over and press against her upper bare upper back, moving up, not down.

"Something wrong?" Kenshin asked, pressing his palms a little harder against her back, circling them around with his hands, his thumbs doing so closer to the middle.

"A-AAahhnn...~..." An airy gasp escaped her lips...and she immediately covered her mouth with her hand. "D-Di-Did I really make that sound? !" She thought, her cheeks burning with a blush.

Kenshin chuckled softly and wrapped his feline tail around her wrist and pulled it away. "Relax...doing what we're about to, requires a certain degree of letting go, let yourself express what you're feeling, my opinion of you won't change."

"P-Promise you won't laugh?" Gabriel asked.
