Welcome readers to the next chapter of my story. Now I am finally getting closer to the end of the field trip. I might have messed up the days of the trip a little bit but I am not too bothered by that. I will have to make sure that in the future I work a bit harder on taking notes of my past writing and maybe plan a little bit. From writing fanfiction I have seen that over planning leads to frustration trying to put too much into one plan. Meanwhile under planning just leads to an annoying time of looking back into chapters and hoping there isn't horrible errors. Sadly I am kind of getting tired of using other people's character's and worlds. It almost would be easier to work with your own worlds and be able to not have as much bs trying to make it meld to the world. Course I am still at least a few years away from finishing each of my stories before I take at least a break from writing fanfictions. Because as always I have a bad habit of trying several things I want to do and just never quite focusing on completing any of them. Honestly if I didn't feel obligated to do the monthly posts it might take A LOT longer for these to come out some days. Oh I don't own dragon ball by the way.

Chapter 13

_Videl_

After the tournament workers explained when the fight would be the next day Videl quickly left the area and decided to rush to the gym and did what she considered a light workout. She then quickly moves back into the library which was still mostly quiet to relax. The few students that were in the library seemed to be more interested in their books than the new person in the room; something she truly was thankful for. Afterall, she assumed most of her class would be super excited and wanting to talk about how close she was to winning. Something that she had no desire to discuss still. So, she sat and read a random novel that caught her eye as time passed by. Perfectly happy to enjoy the peace and quiet the library provided. At least until her friend found her yet again.

"Oh there you are Videl! I really should have guessed you would try and hide out here to avoid the crowd." Erasa tells her sitting in a chair close by her. Nearby was Destiny and Lime who seemed to have just been following Erasa as she searched.

"Yea I am here. Just don't wanna deal with the classes endless questions you know." Videl tells her setting the book down.

"I can understand that…but you have to be at least a little excited to be going against that weird old man, right?" Erasa asks.

"Oh trust me I am very excited to face his weird fighting style. I just wish that the tournament itself didn't strangle the fun out of my match." Videl explained.

"Oh ho ho. Well what if you end up finding the prince to be someone you actually are happy with? Ya know-" Erasa starts to tell her only to be cut off.

"Erasa I love you and even your addiction to talking about love. But I just don't wanna think about the prince right now ok? I am sorry…I just want to relax and enjoy the time I have left here." Videl told her shutting down that conversation topic. She of course saw Erasa's annoyed look but she did not care this time. Even though she knew the happy blond was trying to make her feel better about the situation she just didn't want to think about it.

"Well…then what do you think could even make that old guy's one inch punch that effective? I mean he clearly doesn't have all that much muscle mass." Destiny asks.

"I have no idea. I mean the only thing I can guess at is that he is sort of like me. I mean I don't have bulging muscles or anything yet I am still the strongest at the school. Hell, I am pretty sure that I can bench more than the coach even though he refuses to admit it." Videl explained.

"Hmm maybe. But I mean you at least are visibly toned and healthy while he looks like he truly needed that cane until he threw it away." Erasa adds.

"Who knows then. I mean this world seems to have all sorts of weird people and races. Maybe his looks have something to do with his genetics?" Lime muttered with a shrug. Afterall shrugging it off as a weird trait was a lot easier than thinking of a way to explain ki. She'd save that headache to Gohan later.

"Oh come on. Yes there are weird stuff going on in this world but a trait that makes you look extremely brittle when old?" Destiny asks just getting a shrug from Lime. The girls then talked about various random things until the eventually settled down and each read a bit when they saw others in the room get a bit annoyed with them.

"Well, I should go get some rest. See you girls tomorrow hopefully." Videl muttered before going to her room.

"So, I guess she is going to be getting a big surprise tomorrow…one way or another." Destiny stated a bit amused.

"Tsk, she deserves it for cutting me off like that" Erasa grumbles making both her friends laugh a bit.

"Well everyone tried to give her peace of mind but she blocked each one…so I guess she kind of does deserve it." Lime mutters

*sigh* "As much as I hate to agree…but it seems even Gohan was trying very hard to explain it to her." Destiny mutters.

+Next morning; Videl +

After waking up Videl quickly got ready and went down to wait for the match as fast as she could. In the end she still had plenty of time to wait but it beat having to deal with people talking to her about it. Instead, she just tried to focus on the match she was about enter. After a while her opponent entered the room and walked up to her.

"Good morning, Miss Videl. I wish for a good match." Kanou tells her with a smile holding out his hand.

"Good morning. Let's both give it our all." Videl told him with a small smile. For even if it was for what she considered a bad reward she still felt the desire to compete and win against a fellow martial artist. They both then heard the announcer welcome everyone and introducing them. "It seems like it is time." Videl mutters getting a nod from the man beside her.

"Yes now let's see who will win. An old man that couldn't pick one style or one of the most well-known young martial artist." He told her walking up to the ring with his cane. He then yet again handed his cane over to the announcer and stood in his spot.

"And begin!" The announcer calls out then quickly got away while the crowd cheered loudly around them.
Videl wastes no time quickly rushing Kanou with several combos that were all dodged as if the old man was made of rubber. Just like with the giant he really didn't try to do too many attacks himself but Videl knew better than to count him out. But eventually Kanou placed his palm on her side and quickly prepped himself for what could be called his ki pulse.

Thinking quickly after feeling his hand and knowing what as coming Videl kicked off the ground and got out of range before the attack hit her. Instead, the attack kanou used was wasted and it picked up the wind around the area an almost unnoticeable amount before quickly dissipating.

"Oh? Even though many know about my attack few are actually able to do something about it. You truly are quite the fighter." Kanou tells Videl who smirks.

"Heh, you know it. Being born to the very best means you gotta aim to be the best." Videl tells him.

"Oh ho ho. It is so good to see that martial arts will be properly respected by the young still. I can die a happy man knowing this….but I sadly I have been ordered to give it my all to dominate this tournament."

"Tsk, we will see who comes out on top. Father isn't just letting me give away the victory."

"And I would hate if you did as well young fighter. Show me your potential" Kanou told her with a wide smile. He then had to go back to dodging as Videl's onslaught came again. Still the fight went back into a stalemate just as before. Time passed and eventually Kanou had another try of his finishing move only to be dodged in the same manner as last time.

"Ugh, even though I am happy to see a young martial artist be at this level I wish I did not have to face her here. My king promised to help my search for a successor to my technique if I won but this gal is already pushing me to the edge…I will have to give it my all before she saps the last bit of this old man's stamina" Kanou thought with gritted teeth as he dodged. Eventually he forced himself to take a glancing blow to surprise Videl just enough to make an opening.

"Haaah!" Kanou growled out pushing most of his remaining ki into one last blow. And before Videl could even think of dodging this time she found herself lost to immense pain in her abdomen.

"Kah!" Videl grunted out as she was launched away from Kanou. She could hardly think as the pain froze her body up. "Damn it I tried so hard to avoid this. I hate to say it but the old man got me good."

"You fought well young warrior. Now let's end this fight." Kanou states seriously and goes towards her as fast as he could with his now drained energy levels. Meanwhile Videl was in her own world trying to force herself to recover. In her head she was not even thinking about the fact that she WANTS to lose but instead her warrior spirit was determined to fight to the end.

"Darn it he is coming! Come on body recover please just let me do something." Videl thought as she felt as if time slowed down. She used all of her willpower to try and force something but only saw her opponent come steadily closer to her as she felt most of her body freeze up from pain. "Come on! Move! Move! MOVE!" Videl thought with all of her might. Suddenly she felt almost a wave of warmth push through her system and just as Kanou was a second away from her. The wave of unknown warmth quickly seemed to smother the pain and she was able to jump away from Kanou. Granted she completely lost her proper stance but this did not matter seeing as he was just as surprised as she was. Still after her surprise faded Videl quickly refocused her stance and counter attacked. Kanou was now too tired to fully dodge her and ended up knocked out after fighting to the bitter end.

"And that is it folks our grand champion winner is VIDEL SATAN!" The announcer states loudly getting loud cheers from all around.

~Stands~

"Gohan was that-" Lime started to ask only to get cut off.

"Yes. I doubt she even knows what she just used but it was indeed her Ki. Who knows maybe she will move into using her ki more after this by herself." Gohan told her surprised.

"Hmm well I guess it doesn't matter if she would or wouldn't now." Bri mutters with a shrug. After all they were gonna clue her in as soon as they could now.

"Wait what is she doing now?" Miara asks brining all their attention back to Videl who was standing proudly in the stadium.

+A little bit before conversation; arena+

After the battle ended the ox king walked out to the stadium and stood in front of Videl. He had a clip-on mic on his shirt that was normal sized but comparted to his frame looked comically small.

"Congratulations Videl Satan for your amazing victory. I am sure that your father must be so proud of your achievement." Mathew told her formally.

"Thank you, Ox King." Videl told him.

"Now am I under the proper understanding that you are the princess that will be marrying my grandson?"

"Yes, you are." Videl admitted with a minor cringe.

"Wonderful. Now I am sure that you want to meet and get to know your husband already after a long and hard journey. And I promise that he will be waiting for you at the celebration party this afternoon. I wish for you two to have a happy marriage." Mathew finishes and begins to walk off the stage.

"Actually, Ox king-sama if I could be so bold as to offer a different idea." Videl starts making him turn to her in surprise.
"Oh and what would that be?" He asked.

"Ok Videl come on this is the best idea that you've been able to come up with. It's time for you to try and push for it to work and hope that god is on my side for once." Videl thought mentally bracing herself before finally speaking.

"How about me and the prince have one last match to end this event off? We can even bet on it and if he wins I promise that I will make sure my dad can't use your resources without proper reasons." Videl stated knowing full well that for a kingdom that bases themselves off power it would be hard to deny a challenge.

"…and if he should lose?"

"then…then this marriage will be canceled but you will have to still give us your support." Videl says then mental winces as she hears various citizens insult her and complain out of rage.

"So you would just leave us with an empty space next to our next kin again? Even after we spent all this time and effort to fill that slot." Mathew asks to keep up his image as the king. Afterall the citizens had no idea that he was sure that there was ZERO percent chance of Gohan ever being beat by Videl.

"I-I…then I will pick from the competitors that came here which kingdom you will have marry to the prince." Videl told him.

"Hmm…very well then Videl Satan if that is what you wish. BUT if he may lose, we ill only be supporting you with one thing. The benefits you would get from milking bribes from the other kingdoms is already a great enough prize." Mathew told her.

"Fine." Videl quickly agreed not actually caring about the help at all. She just wanted a way of out of the marriage that her dad couldn't revoke. And the fact that it prevented him from getting his prize even after she was married if she lost was icing on the cake.

"Well then a change of plans is in order then." Mathew told her before turning his attention to the crown. "My apologies people but it sees that we will be making a change to our plans for this day. If you would be kind enough to sit around for two hours then you will be able to see my grandsons first time in the public right here on the stage as he faces Videl in combat!" the Ox King told the people who cheered happy that they would be able to see the prince in person instead of in the live streamed congratulation party. "Rest up Videl we will have the match in two hours." He then told her walking away from the area.

_Gohan_

After hearing Videl's challenge Gohan truly didn't know whether he should break out in laughter or start crying in stress. For he knew damn well that he had to win the match he had. For even if he felt that he wanted to lose it would be an insult to be stuck owing Mr. Satan anything. Not to mention the random girl he had to marry would most likely be one of the worst options seeing as most of them had deep pockets for bribes.

"Ha ha ha Oh that girl who would have expected her to say that to a king." Luke stated openly laughing.

"Shh, don't show that you approve. She could have insulted the Ox king or something if he didn't approve of her surprise challenge." Destiny stated nervous.

"…well at least she has a change to stop being married to some random guy." Sharpner muttered.

"Well I guess I better go get ready" Gohan thought and got up from his seat. "Hey guys I will be back in a while I just realized I forgot to do something." Gohan quickly told the group who said goodbye clearly thinking he didn't want to sit for the two hours. He then walked through the castle calmly until he finally reached his grandfather.

"Well I know this isn't how you wanted to show her but I guess it will be a better way for you to talk to her without others trying to listen in." Mathew tells him simply.

"Hah, I guess you are right" Gohan told him after a sigh.

"You know that you can't let yourself lose this right? Mr. Satan would never let us hear the end of it."

"Oh I know already."

"Good…now about your gear…" Mathew tells him and then a butler rolls in a rack that made Gohan flinch.

"What those? But I have never used those stupid things after we found out that they impede movement a decent amount and aren't even all that durable." Gohan complained

*sigh* "That was only when it came to standards that you ki users have. Even for me who is hardly a ki user would find these outfits fine. Also, its not like you are actually going to be facing anything that those problems will even matter in anyways." Mathew explains ignoring the click of Gohan's tongue that he could clearly hear.

"Fine let's get this over with." Gohan tells him.

_Videl_

After leaving the arena Videl simply sat in the waiting room alone trying to relax both her body and nerves.

"Well it worked. The hail marry I threw was caught and now I at least have a decent chance to free myself from this situation….come to think of this tournament…what was that feeling that washed over me? And why did it make me feel so strong?" Videl questioned in her head but really did nothing as she waited for her final match to come. And soon enough the time passed and she was brought back to the stage.

"Well we welcome all of you viewers to our surprise last match. Now I am sure that all of you are aware of what is at stake but just to let it be clear I will explain. If Videl Satan loses this match then she is free from the marriage and not only gets to pick who our prince marries but also is owed a favor from the kingdom. But if our prince wins then Mr. Satan with all of his might won't be able to take any of the strength that it has built up over the long years. Now I feel it has been long enough. Let me introduce our new crown prince….Gohan Son!" the announcer calls out.

As soon as he does Gohan walks out wearing a new training outfit that looked to be a strange mix between designer clothes and fitness clothes. He then calmly walks up to the stage making sure to appear as strong as possible just as a king should in front of his people. That is until he finally reached the stage and walked close to Videl.

"What no way!" Sharpner yells out stunned.

"Hello Videl" Gohan muttered at the stunned girl in front of him. "I wish I could have told you another way but you really haven't given me that chance…but now we must fight." Gohan tells her getting a nod.

"I-I knew what I was getting into…but you…a prince?" Videl stated stunned.

"Indeed. Now let us fight Videl. And this time for real." Gohan told her getting into his stance Videl eventually broke out of her shock enough to ready herself as well.

"Aaand let the bonus match begin!" the announcer called out over the mic.

And that is where I am going to end this chapter. Now I know this is VERY short but I actually did want to end this chapter somewhere close to this and even kind of wanted this in the last chapter. But time got to me and here it is now. It is another one of those times that I have more I should right but it is just too good of an end spot to pass up on. But anyways thank you for reading and putting up with my antics. For now though Ja Ne.
