Kanto Gets Loud

(Pokemon X Loud House Story)

Chapter 2: Meeting the Professor

Later that night, at the Retirement Home,

Lincoln was more than grateful for finally having a roof over his head, being able to take a hot shower, actually being able to enjoy a nice meal like a human being, and finally sleeping in a warm bed after several days of being forced to sleep outside like an animal. While he was in bed, he couldn't help by think about his new adventure in the 'Kanto' place, 'What's it going to be like?' Lincoln wondered, as he finally fell asleep. But when he finally began dreaming, it was the weirdest dream he had ever had. Lincoln found himself standing on a winner's podium in the middle of what appeared to be some kind of sports arena, holding a large, golden trophy, in front of a large crowd of people, including his friends and family. By his side, were six creatures he had never seen before.

The first was a small, yellow mouse with a lightning bolt shaped tail and red cheeks.

The second was an orange, winged dragon with a flame at the tip of it's tail.

The third looked like a large, blue sea serpent.

The fourth was another, feminine looking creature. It's blue "hair", or what Lincoln was assuming was hair, formed a curl around it's head. It had red eyes, and an orange spike in it's chest, and an elegant looking dress.

The fifth was a shadowy creature with piercing red eyes and a malicious grin.

The sixth was another dragon, but it was yellow with green stripes, and looked something like a dragonfly. Lincoln also noticed that it had red domes over both it's eyes.

Lincoln looked all around him, before a flash of golden light shone down on him. Above him, there was another creature. Lincoln could easily describe it as a white reindeer, with something like a golden gate around it's midsection.

"You are worthy," the creature said, as a brilliant, blinding light shone all around Lincoln, causing him to shield his eyes.

The next morning,

Lincoln's eyes shot open, as he got up, "Whoa, talk about a crazy dream," he commented, as he got up. He grabbed a change of clothes, and went to go get changed. Once he was done with that, he exited the room that Albert had let him use, and saw both him and Myrtle enjoying a nice breakfast.

"Good morning, Lincoln. I trust you slept well?" Myrtle asked, as she plated Lincoln some pancakes.

"Indeed I did. Though the dream I had was a bit peculiar," Lincoln replied.

"How so?" Albert asked.

"Well, I was in the middle of some kind of arena, holding a large trophy, and there were these six creatures by my side. I think they might've been the Pokemon I'm going to be training," Lincoln replied.

"Hmm, could be a premonition of things to come during your trip through Kanto," Albert guessed.

"I think it's wonderful that you're going to be on something like a safari," Myrtle commented.

"Yeah. After everything that's happened over the past few days, I think I deserve some time away from them," Lincoln replied, bitterly thinking about his family.

"Well, try not to dwell on it too much. You're starting a new adventure as of today, so you've got nothing to worry about," Albert said, as the three of them continued their breakfast. Once they were done, Albert looked at the time, and saw it was getting close to time, "Well Lincoln, we'd best be on our way over to the airport," he said. Myrtle shared one last hug with Lincoln, before the two of them left for the Detroit Airport.

Meanwhile, at the Loud House,

The sister's were all lazing about the house, while their parents went to go run a quick errand. The sisters, while watching their favorite shows, had looks on their faces that indicated they weren't in the best of moods. The only exception was Lynn, who was elated about the events that transpired.

"I don't get why any of you are so upset. Lincoln and his bad luck are finally out of our hair! We're free from both!" Lynn said, not caring about her brother's well being at all.

"Even so, I don't feel right about agreeing to send him out of the country," Luna replied.

"Yeah, we don't even know about this researcher friend of Pop-Pop's," Luan added.

"Look, even if you guys were right to be worried about that good for nothing jinx, which you shouldn't be, it's too late for us to do anything about it. Besides, we have a day at the beach ahead of us, so get over it, and stop worrying about Stinkcoln," Lynn demanded.

"Lucy, you were in the vents last night. Did you happen to hear anything about this place they're sending Lincoln?" Lana asked.

"I didn't hear much, but just enough to give me the impression that this trip might benefit Lincoln more than his absence benefits us," Lucy replied.

"Well, give us details!" Lola demanded.

"Well, I know that the researcher that Lincoln's being sent to live with goes by name 'Samuel Oak', and that he researches some kind of creatures by the name of 'Pokemon' if I recall correctly," Lucy explained.

"Ok, I'm stopping this conversation, right here and now! I don't care what Lincoln does, as long as it's far away from us!" Lynn declared. Just then, they saw Van-zilla pull into the driveway. In minutes, both parents walked in.

"Hey Mom, hey Dad, got what you needed done?" Leni asked.

"Yeah. Girls, we have something we need to say," Lynn Sr. said, getting the attention of all his daughters, "At the urging of your grandfather, we have decided to unseal Lincoln's bedroom, and move all of his things back inside," he declared.

"But Dad, there could still be bad luck lingering in there! Are we really going to risk OUR safety for that jinx of a brother of ours?" Lynn Jr. asked, only to receive harsh glares from both parents.

"At this point, we no longer care if there is any bad luck inside that room, or if there was any to begin with, our decision to unseal his room is final! And if any of you so much as tries to reseal his door, you will be grounded until your brother comes home! Do I make myself clear?" Rita asked. It was clear from her tone that she was not going to negotiate.

"Yes, Mom," the nine sisters replied.

"Good. Now then, half of you will work on unsealing the door, while the other half helps us bring in some furniture we bought to replace the stuff we sold," Lynn Sr. ordered.

"Well, at least after this, we can go to the beach, right?" Lynn Jr. asked. To her surprise, both parents shook their heads, "WHAT?!"

"We had to spend everything we had between us in order to replace the furniture," Lynn Sr. replied.

"But what about the money we got from selling his furniture in the first place? That was like, what, $300 dollars?" Lola asked.

"Pop-Pop ordered us to give him the money we got from selling his furniture. More than likely, he's planning to give it to Lincoln, seeing as it was HIS furniture that we sold," Rita replied. The Loud sisters all began to raise their protests.

"WHAT?! WHY DOES HE GET ALL THAT MONEY?!"

"THAT'S NOT FAIR!"

"WE DESERVE IT MORE THAN HE DOES!"

"ENOUGH!" Rita yelled, silencing her daughters, "We gave him the money from the sale to use as he sees fit, and that's something that can't be undone! And by now, Lincoln's probably already on his was to Kanto, so there's nothing we can do. Now, get to work on the tasks your father gave you, NOW!" Rita ordered. The sisters, not wanting to be on the receiving end of any more of their Mother's anger, quickly dispersed to take care of the tasks they were given.

Meanwhile, at the Detroit Airport,

Lincoln was sitting on a bench, while Albert was holding up a sign that said "PROFESSOR SAMUEL OAK" on it, "He should be here by now," Albert commented, as he continued to hold up the sign. Lincoln was about to suggest something, when...

"Hello!" the voice of Professor Oak called, out, as both Lincoln and Albert saw him walking towards them. He was carrying a fairly large package in on hand.

"Hey there, Samuel! It's been forever!" Albert greeted, shaking hands with the professor.

"Likewise Albert. I must say, the flight over here from Kanto was a bit longer than I was expecting, even with Dragonite's help," Professor Oak replied.

"Well, what are you going to do?" Albert asked, as he beckoned Lincoln to come over, "Anyhow, here's my grandson, Lincoln Loud. Lincoln, meet Professor Samuel Oak," Albert said, introducing the two.

"It's quite nice to meet you, Lincoln," Professor Oak greeted.

"Likewise, Professor," Lincoln replied. Professor Oak then noticed something was off.

"By the way, where are your parents?" he asked. Lincoln's expression turned sour.

"I guess they couldn't be bothered to come see me off," Lincoln bitterly replied. Professor Oak could easily sense something was off.

"I see. Well Albert, could I possibly ask you to take this to his parents?" Professor Oak asked, giving Albert a package.

"Um, sure. Oh! That reminds me!" Albert said, pulling out the wad of cash, "Could you have this turned into some spending cash when Lincoln's ready to begin his adventure?" he asked.

"Of course. You can count on me," Professor Oak replied, before turning back to Lincoln, "So, are you ready to depart?" he asked.

"Yes. I'll talk to you later, Pop-Pop," Lincoln said to his grandfather, sharing one last embrace, before following the professor through the airport.

"Well, now that he's in good hands, it's time for me to deliver this," Albert said, grabbing the package, as he left the airport himself.

Out on the Airport Runway,

Lincoln was confused when Professor Oak led him out to the runway, but saw no vehicle, "Uh, Professor? Do we have some kind of transport?" he asked.

"Of course. Just you wait a moment," Professor Oak replied, as he pulled out a miniature version of the ball that Lincoln saw him release that 'Geodude' thing he saw yesterday when they called him. The professor then pressed the button, enlarging the ball to the size of a baseball, "Alright, Dragonite, you're up!" he said, as he tossed the ball. In a flash of white light, a big, yellow dragon materialized. It bellowed upon being released.

"Whoa, is that a real dragon?!" Lincoln exclaimed.

"In a way. To be more precise, this is another Pokemon you might encounter during your journey. It's name is 'Dragonite'. Don't let it's bulky size fool you: This Pokemon is able to fly around the world in only 16 hours. So getting back to my home town of Pallet Town in no time," Professor Oak said, as he helped Lincoln climb onto Dragonite's back, then got on himself, "Alright Dragonite, let's return home," the Professor said. Dragonite extended it's wings, and began to flap until it was airborne, and took off at blinding speeds.

"WHOA! THIS IS CRAZY FAST!" Lincoln yelled over the sound of the passing air.

"I KNOW THIS MAY BE A LITTLE MUCH, BUT TRY TO BEAR WITH IT!" Professor Oak said, as Dragonite continued to fly. It wasn't long before they were passing over the ocean, "OK. IT SHOULD BE JUST ANOTHER HOUR OR SO BEFORE WE MAKE IT TO PALLET TOWN!" Professor Oak exclaimed. It was a little while longer when land came into view.

"IS THAT IT?" Lincoln asked.

"IT IS. THAT'S THE KANTO REGION!" Professor Oak replied, as they got closer with each minute. Soon, the landed in the middle of what appeared to be a large ranch, "Well Mr. Loud, we've made it," Professor Oak commented, as he got off of Dragonite. Lincoln got off, and was still trembling from flying so fast, "I'd imagine that flying on a Dragonite for the first time was very nerve-wracking for you," he commented, seeing Lincoln still shaking.

"Y-Yeah. I wasn't expecting it to be that fast," Lincoln replied, as he was steadily calming down. He then looked around the surrounding area, "So, this is your hometown?" he asked.

"Indeed. Welcome to Pallet Town. And over there's my lab," Professor Oak replied, pointing to a nearby building, "Let's get you settled in, then we can go over how things will be done until your big test," he said, leading Lincoln towards the building. Looking around, Lincoln was in awe of the many creatures he saw. He saw a mass of blue vines with red shoes, what looked to be a walking flower root,a couple of yellow Pokemon with brick patterned hides, and many others.

"Are these all Pokemon?" Lincoln asked.

"Indeed. These are but a small handful of the many species of Pokemon that you'll encounter during your travels," Professor Oak replied, as they reached the laboratory. Opening the door, Professor Oak led Lincoln inside, and through some halls, "This will be your room until you head out on your journey," he said, opening the door to a standard size bedroom, but to Lincoln, it was the most grand thing he had ever laid eyes on, especially when compared to the room he had back in Royal Woods, "If you'll set your luggage down, we can go and go over all that you'll be study until your test," he said. Lincoln went and placed his bag on the bed, before following the Professor through the halls once more, this time, leading Lincoln to what appeared to be a conference room of some kind, "Here's where we'll be going over all the ins and outs of being a Pokemon Trainer. I'll have some textbooks on hand for you to read and take notes from, and naturally, I'll be in to help explain certain topics in case you don't understand. As for what we'll be discussing, we'll be going over the Pokemon League association and it's rules, as well as Pokemon types, their match-ups, what kinds of moves there are, that sort of thing," he explained.

"Ok, that sounds simple enough," Lincoln commented. Professor Oak then decided now was a good time to ask Lincoln a serious question.

"By the way, young man, I noticed you had quite bit of disdain at the mention of your family. Is there a particular reason?" the professor asked. Lincoln's expression once again turned sour, "You know, if you want me to trust you to be a Trainer, the most important thing is honesty. I am asking you to be honest with me," he added, his expression stern. With a deep breath, Lincoln then began to explain to Professor Oak all about the bad luck mess he got himself into, from Lynn's softball game where she labeled him as 'bad luck', to carrying on the lie about being bad luck to get some free time, to all being kicked out and banned from entering the house, "My word, that certainly would be stressful for anyone!"

"I know, right? And that's just ONE of the many dumb things my sisters did that I had to pay for, which also includes the stuff I contributed to," Lincoln replied.

"Well, I would say that the time spent in Kanto should help you out more than it will your family, since you may find that being a Trainer is something you yourself are good at," Professor Oak replied.

"Thanks Professor. By the way, what was that package you gave Pop-Pop?" Lincoln asked.

"I gave him a Video Phone to give to your parents. The set up is fairly simple, and it can sync up with your home phone. I had a feeling that your family would want to keep in touch with you, and vise versa, but this could serve another purpose," Professor Oak replied.

"What sort of purpose?" Lincoln asked.

"Well, I understand that you're quite angry with your family, but it's not exactly healthy to hold onto a grudge. So, what I want you to at the very least attempt to do is to try and forgive your family. You don't need to forgive them all at once. Even one at a time will be more than enough," Professor Oak explained. Lincoln then took a moment to take in what Professor Oak had advised. It was true that he was livid with his family for the awful way they treated him, but he couldn't bring himself to hate any of them, not even Lynn.

"Well, you have a point. I'll see what I can do about forgiving them, BUT they'll need to work hard for me to trust them again," Lincoln replied.

"That's quite fine. Now that that's all settled, shall we go over the study plan for the next week?" Professor Oak suggested.

"That sounds good," Lincoln replied.

Author's Note:

Ok guys, here's the first trivia question. The first one who answers this right will decide which of Lincoln's Pokemon will be a shiny. I am willing to allow multiple Pokemon to be Shiny, so something to consider. Without further ado, here's the question:

In order, what Pokemon appeared in Lincoln's dream?
