Kanto Gets Loud

Chapter 13: The Swarm Attacks

Nearby the clearing,

A wild Pidgey was sucked into a Pokeball, which wobbled a few times before it clicked shut, "Ok, that should be enough Pokemon to bolster our ranks a bit," James commented, as he retrieved his Pokeball.

"But these are all super weak Pokemon! There ain't no way we can battle that brat with these small fries!" Meowth pointed out.

"They aren't for us to battle with, you dolt! If you had heard those three as they were walking, the Pewter City Pokemon Center has a Wonder Trade Center. James and I are going to trade off the seven Pokemon we caught for some good Pokemon," Jessie explained.

"And if we can get our hands on some powerful Pokemon, not only would we be able to beat that twerp as revenge for thwarting the Viridian City heist, we could end up getting back on the boss' good side," James added.

"Ah, I get ya! Speaking of the brat, we should go and find him," Meowth suggested.

"Ah, that's right! If we're late with our report, the boss will have our jobs!" James exclaimed.

"Thankfully, I've been keeping track of those brats while catching Pokemon. They should be further up this way," Jessie said, as they made their way to just outside the clearing, where Lincoln had just defeated Metapod, which resulted in his Weedle evolving into Kakuna.

"So that twerp managed to evolve a most rare Shiny Weedle," James commented.

"Maybe this kid isn't as much of a greenhorn as we believe," Jessie replied, as they continued to observe, just as Samurai sent out his Pinsir.

"A Pinsir? Aren't those considered to be quite rare?" James asked.

"Yes, so we need to make sure to steal it after we finish teaching these brats a lesson," Jessie replied greedily, as they watched intently on the battle.

Lincoln stared at the new Bug Pokemon, in awe, "Whoa, that Pokemon looks a lot tougher than Metapod for sure," he muttered, before he pulled out his Pokedex.

"Pinsir, the Stag Beetle Pokemon, a Bug Type. Pinsir is outstandingly strong. It can grip any opponent weighing twice it's own weight in it's horns, and easily lift it. However, Pinsir's movements become sluggish in colder places," the Pokedex explained.

"Ok, so I gotta make sure to avoid those horns," Lincoln contemplated, as he considered his options.

"You fought well for a foreigner, Lincoln, but now you face the strongest of all my Bug Pokemon!" Samurai declared. Pinsir then clicked its horns together, glaring menacingly at Lincoln.

"Ok, Poliwag, Kakuna, and Caterpie are out of the question, and Fearow's still recovering from her battle with Pidgeotto. Speaking of which, maybe it's time to see if she can walk the walk," Lincoln muttered to himself.

"Are you going to send out your second Pokemon? Otherwise, I will claim an automatic forfeit!" Samurai declared.

"He's right, Lincoln. You have to send in your next Pokemon or else you'll lose by forfeit," Misty said.

"No need for that. I've already chosen my second Pokemon. Go, Pidgeotto!" Lincoln said, sending out Pidgeotto.

"A Pidgeotto? Did that kid replace his Fearow?" Jessie asked.

"No. Take a look at his belt. It has six Pokeballs on it, instead of just the two we saw when we battled him before," Meowth replied.

"Frankly, I couldn't care less if he's kept that Fearow or not. All that matters is revenge," James retorted as the three of them continued to watch the battle.

"About time you send me into battle. So, who's ass am I going to be kicking?" Pidgeotto asked.

"Your opponent is that Pinsir over there," Lincoln replied. Pidgeotto was very surprised to see the Stag Beetle Pokemon.

"A Pinsir?! You're really having me go up against a Pinsir?!" Pidgeotto exclaimed.

"Is that a problem?" Lincoln asked, sounding a little worried.

"Are you kidding?! This is the opportunity I've been waiting a long time for! Pinsir are a lot stronger that most of the Bug Types found in this forest, so having something stronger than a Caterpie or a Weedle to battle against is the sweetest treat ever!" Pidgeotto replied. Lincoln breathed a sigh of relief.

"Well, if you like this, then you'll be happy to know that once we leave the forest, we'll be travelling around the region battling lots of other strong trainers," Lincoln stated.

"Awesome! Alright, let's get this party started!" Pidgeotto exclaimed.

"Alright then. Just be sure to avoid those horns. They could cause some trouble for us if you get caught in them," Lincoln advised.

"Duly noted," Pidgeotto replied.

"Speaking of which, you should prepare for trouble!" a familiar voice caused Lincoln, Misty, Pikachu, and Raigo to all groan in annoyance.

"Oh no, not those three clowns again!" Raigo complained.

"Indeed, and while you're at it, make it double!" the second voice said, as Team Rocket leaped from the bushes. Meowth quickly rushed in.

"Can it with the theatrics you two! We got work to do!" Meowth exclaimed.

"Spoil sport," Jessie grumbled.

"Who are these three?" Samurai asked.

"Well, little boy, we just happen to be members of the prestigious Team Rocket!" James replied with pride.

"Team Rocket? So you're that band of criminals who use Pokemon to commit crimes!" Samurai exclaimed.

"Indeed we do. And since you're new to the picture, we'll grant you the privilege of witnessing us recite the Team Rocket motto!" Jessie proclaimed.

"That sounds more like a punishment to me," Lincoln commented dryly.

"Is it really that bad?" Samurai asked.

"Imagine a line a bad guy from a kid's cartoon would say to make them sound more intimidating, then imagine that actually being threatening. These guys are just too painful for words," Misty replied.

"I see. Then I'll take you word for it," Samurai replied.

"Oh, fine, whatever! It's not like you twerps are even worthy of us wasting our time with our totally awesome motto!" James pouted.

"So, what are you clowns even doing here? We're kind of in the middle of something here," Lincoln questioned.

A sinister smirk worked its way onto Jessie's face, "Well, twerp, if you must know, we here for revenge after the humiliation you dealt us back in Viridian City."

"'Revenge'? You guys want revenge on us for defending the Pokemon Center? How petty can you get?" Raigo commented.

"We had every right to raid the Pokemon Center, so we're going to be taking all of your Pokemon as compensation! The same goes for that Pinsir! I'm sure it's going to go for a very high price on the Black Market," James declared.

"Samurai, if you're willing to hold off on our battle, we should focus on fending off these three," Lincoln suggested.

"Great minds think alike. Pinsir, your opponents are going to be those three crooks now!" Samurai said, as Pinsir turned its attention to Team Rocket.

"The same goes for you, Pidgeotto. Sorry you won't be able to get to battle Pinsir like you wanted," Lincoln said to Pidgeotto.

"First, you were going to have me battle a Pinsir, then you're having me kick three asses instead of just one? You have got to be the best trainer I have ever had in my life!" Pidgeotto replied. Lincoln gave her an amused look.

"I'm the only trainer you've ever had," he replied.

"Same thing!"

"I'll join in this battle. I'd be more than happy to make a fool out of this old grandma again," Misty remarked, sending out her Staryu. What she said seemed to really tick off Jessie.

"Now hold on, there are four of you, and only two of us. That hardly seems fair!" Jessie proclaimed.

"Yeah, the only side to have an unfair numbers advantage is us!" Meowth declared.

"That's rich, coming from someone who plays dirty. Besides, if you include Meowth on your team, then you have three Pokemon to battle our three," Lincoln retorted.

"Besides, I think I'll sit this one out," Raigo commented.

"Well, if only three of them are actually battling, and if Meowth does join the fight, then things are evened out," James commented, only to receive harsh glares from both Jessie and Meowth, "And I'll shut up now."

"You know, it'll make winning all the more satisfying when we beat you twerps into the ground, so go ahead and have your three-trainer team. Go, Ekans!" Jessie said, sending out her Ekans.

"Koffing, it's battle time!" James declared, sending out Koffing.

"I'll take Koffing like last time, if you want to take Ekans?" Lincoln said to Misty.

"Sounds good," Misty replied.

"Then leave that Meowth to me!" Samurai declared.

"Koffing, use Sludge on that Pidgeotto!" James quickly ordered. Koffing then fired off the Sludge attack, which Pidgeotto quickly reacted to and dodged, causing the Sludge to fly into a nearby bush.

"Attacking before the battle even starts? How low can you guys sink?" Lincoln questioned.

"Thankfully, I have wicked reflexes!" Pidgeotto boasted. However, each and every one of them were about to learn that the Sludge attack was the only move used during the battle, as the sound of buzzing was heard.

"What's that noise?" Lincoln asked.

"That foolish man must've accidentally fired Sludge at a Beedrill hive! We must run for shelter!" Samurai declared, as a swarm of bipedal bee like Pokemon with big spears on their arms began to fly towards them.

"AAAH! BEEDRILL!" Misty screamed in terror.

"What are Beedrill?" Lincoln questioned.

"They're the fully evolved form of Weedle. They're extremely territorial and quick to anger. That Sludge attack must've hit on of the hive's members!" Samurai explained, noting that one Beedrill was covered in the Sludge attack, "We can't stay here! I can lead us all to safety!" he said, recalling his Pinsir.

"Much as I want to battle, that's way too many Beedrill for even someone as badass as me to handle on my own!" Pidgeotto said, as Lincoln quickly recalled her into her Pokeball. Misty, Jessie, and James all recalled their Pokemon, and followed after Samurai, just as the swarm began to close in on them.

10 minutes later,

The six trainers, Pikachu, and Meowth were still running from the Beedrill swarm when a cabin came into view, "My cabin! We can take shelter there!" Samurai called out, as they made a break for the cabin, quickly making it inside. Samurai then slammed the door shut and locked it. They all breathed a sigh of relief, even though the sound of buzzing was still heard. Samurai took a moment to take off his armor, before casting a harsh glare at Team Rocket, "I hope you three are satisfied! If not for your interference, we would not have had to barely escape with our lives!"

"Don't blame me, you little twerp! If anything, that white haired brat and is Pidgeotto are to blame! If they had just taken the Sludge attack when Koffing fired…" James was cut off by Lincoln.

"No you don't! You're not going to pin one bit of the blame on me! It was YOUR Koffing that fired that Sludge! What's more, no one exactly invited you to our battle!" Lincoln snapped.

"Well, we wouldn't be here right now if you had just let us rob the Viridian City Pokemon Center like we were intending!" James snapped back.

"Well, no one said you guys HAD to rob the Pokemon Center!" Lincoln retorted.

"QUIET!" Samurai bellowed, breaking up the fight between the two, "I don't know or care what happened prior to you all coming here, but right now, we have more pressing matters to attend to, like those Beedrill outside."

"You're right. So, what do we do?" Misty asked.

"Well, Beedrill are persistent Pokemon, but they do give up after some time, so our best bet is to wait for them to leave of their own accord," Samurai replied.

"And how long would that be then? Minutes? Hours?" Raigo asked.

"That, I'm afraid, I do not know. For all we know, we can be stuck here until morning," Samurai replied.

"Until morning?!" Lincoln exclaimed.

"Well, it was getting rather late, so we would've settled down for camp before long," Raigo replied.

"The Hoenn twerp's right. We should just settle down for the night, and hope that the swarm is gone by morning," Jessie declared.

"Alright, but don't even think of trying any funny business," Lincoln said to Team Rocket, casting them an untrusting glare. James only rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, whatever. Now shut up or else the Beedrill might hear us," James said, as they all tried to go to sleep. Key word being "tried" as the sound of the buzzing was still audible.

The next morning,

"Oh man, that had to be the worst night ever!" Lincoln complained, as his eyes were baggier than normal. The others were all the same way. With all the buzzing from outside, none of them really got any sleep at all. The Beedrill proved to be as persistent as Samurai had claimed.

"I am beyond tired. Do you think the swarm is gone by now?" Misty groaned.

Listening close for the sound of buzzing, Samurai turned to her, "I do not know. I don't hear any buzzing nearby, but it would be wise to exercise caution," he replied.

"I know of a way we can be sure," Jessie said, as she shoved James towards the door, "Go and see if the coast is clear, James."

"Why do I have to?" James whined.

"Because I said so, now MOVE IT!" Jessie snapped. James cast a harsh glare at the redhead, muttering something under his breath as he unlocked the door, and carefully peered outside. He slammed the door shut when he almost got a face full of stinger.

"Ok, it's safe to say that they're still out there," he said shakily. The others just sighed in exasperation. Lincoln got up, and went over to the window, peering out at the swarm, who were watching and waiting for them to come out of the cabin.

'Man, Samurai wasn't kidding when he said they were persistent. It's just like when Fearow joined my team,' Lincoln thought to himself. It was that one thought that gave him a brilliant idea, 'Wait a minute, that's it! Maybe if we defeat the majority of the Beedrill, the rest might go away,' he thought as he got out his Pokedex. He looked around the swarm, and saw one Beedrill that was larger than the others. He pointed his Pokedex at that one.

"Beedrill, the Poison Bee Pokemon, a Bug and Poison Type, and the final evolved form of Weedle. Beedrill are extremely territorial, and will attack anyone who goes near their nest. They attack using the stingers on both their arms and on their rear. This female Beedrill is Level 18, and knows the moves Twineddle, Poison Sting, Rage, Fury Attack, and Pursuit," the Pokedex said.

"Wait, did your Pokedex say the leader is only Level 18?" Misty asked in surprise.

"Yeah. Given that there're so many, I was expecting her level to be a little higher, which works out well with an idea I just had," Lincoln replied.

"What's your plan?" Samurai asked.

"Tell me something, if we were to take down a majority of the swarm, do you think the rest of the Beedrill will leave us alone?" Lincoln asked.

"It is more than likely if we prove ourselves to be stronger than the swarm," Samurai replied.

"Great! Then we can all pitch in to ward them off," Lincoln said, looking over to Team Rocket, "I know we aren't on the best of terms right now, but how about we call a truce so that we can have a chance, even the slightest of chances, to escape the Beedrill? Afterwards, we can go back to hating each other senseless," he said, trying to convince Team Rocket. The three Rockets shared questioning looks with one another.

"Oh, alright. But only until we manage to escape," Jessie decided.

"Great, well, if everyone's ready, let's go take care things," Lincoln said, as he unlocked the door and opened it.

Meanwhile, outside the Cabin,

The Beedrill swarm was still buzzing around the cabin, waiting for the group inside to come out, "The minute you see them leave, waste no time in attacking! They must pay for that Sludge attack yesterday!" the lead Beedrill ordered, just as the group exited the cabin, "There they are! Kill them!" the swarm began to buzz more fiercely.

"Oh man, that is a lot of Beedrill," Misty shivered.

"Don't go chickening out yet, Misty. We need all hands-on deck," Lincoln said.

"Lincoln's right. This isn't going to be an easy battle for us, so we all need to have each other's back," Raigo commented.

"That's right, so let's…" Samurai looked around, not seeing Team Rocket anywhere, "Hey, where did those three go?" the others looked around for Team Rocket, only to spot them running away.

"What the…?! You can't just abandon us like that!" Lincoln yelled at them.

"Oh yes we can! We only agreed to your alliance so that we can make our get away while the Beedrill were focused on you!" Jessie yelled back, as they continued to run away.

"Ugh, really should've seen that coming," Lincoln grumbled, before his attention was turned back to the angry swarm.

"Don't worry about those three, Lincoln. Between the four of us, we should have enough firepower to fend off the Beedrill," Misty replied.

"You're right," Lincoln said, as he sent out Fearow, Pidgeotto, Kakuna, and Poliwag. Misty sent out Staryu and a new tadpole Pokemon that looked like a smaller form of Poliwrath. Raigo sent out Skipper, along with a little swallow Pokemon and a small, bipedal Pokemon with a green, dome shaped head, and two red horns sticking out from the front and back. Samurai rounded things out with Pinsir, "Alright guys, we've got ourselves a big battle ahead of us," he said.

"I think you mean WE have a big battle ahead of ourselves," Pikachu said, emphasizing the word "we". Lincoln only looked at his partner in disbelief.

"What? No way, absolutely not! We're not leaving you guys out here to face down that swarm by yourselves!" Lincoln retorted.

"Now hold on Lincoln, Pikachu has a valid point. We can all handle those Beedrill ourselves. The four of you… not so much," Fearow replied.

"As much as I don't want to agree with birdbrain here, you guys would just get in the way. So you four just head back inside, and we'll clean up out here," Pidgeotto added.

"But we…" Lincoln was cut off when Pinsir hoisted him up with his horns, and carried him over to the cabin.

"Trust us. We can handle this," Pinsir replied, tossing Lincoln back inside. He then motioned for the others to head in as well. While they couldn't understand what Pinsir was saying, they could tell by how he threw Lincoln back into the cabin that the Pokemon wanted them inside as well. So, without further hesitation or encouragement, the other three went back into the cabin themselves. Once the trainers were safe and sound inside the cabin, the Pokemon turned to the swarm.

"So, how does it look?" Pikachu asked.

"I'm counting at least five or six dozen Beedrill. And it looks like they've brought some land troops too," Skipper replied, seeing a large number of Weedle and Kakuna coming their way.

"I suggest dividing and conquering. Some of us can handle the land support, while rest can handle the Beedrill," Staryu suggested.

"Eh, why not? Just another chance to prove how awesome I am in the air!" Pidgeotto boasted.

"Time and place, Pidgeotto," Fearow said.

"So, should Kakuna and I handle the Pokemon on the ground, Mister Pikachu?" Poliwag asked.

"Sure. Just leave the aerial fight to us," Pikachu replied.

"Say, how's about making this a little more interesting?" Pidgeotto asked.

"What are you talking about now?" Fearow asked.

"I'm saying that I bet I can take out more of this swarm than any of you!" Pidgeotto boasted.

"So, you're proposing a contest? Eh, why not? I'm game," the little swallow Pokemon replied.

"Sounds like fun. I'm in!" Poliwag eagerly chirped.

"I don't really have much of a choice in the matter. Now that I'm with you guys, I'm going to be seen as an enemy of the swarm, so I guess I'll join in too," Kakuna added.

"Great! Now then, let's dance!" Pidgeotto said, as they went into battle.

Meanwhile, inside the cabin,

Once inside, the others went over to where Lincoln was thrown in, "You ok, Lincoln? That Pinsir threw you pretty far," Misty asked.

"I apologize for my Pinsir's actions," Samurai said.

"It's fine, Samurai. And what they said was true. If we had stayed out there, we would just be in the way," Lincoln said, as they heard the battle going on outside.

"Man, sounds like they're really going at it," Raigo commented, as they went over to the window. They saw that their Pokemon were not only holding their own, but were beating back the swarm.

Outside the Cabin,

"And that makes 20 for me! How are you losers doing?" Pidgeotto called out, as she took out two more Beedrill.

"Only 20? I'm up to 23 knockouts!" Fearow retorted, as she took out another Beedrill.

"My ass you did! You're just using that cheap Mirror Move to return fire! That doesn't count!" Pidgeotto retorted.

"Says you. It's perfectly legit. You're just mad because I used it to reflect your 'secret attack' on you yesterday," Fearow replied.

"You two are complete amateurs! I'm already up to 27 Kos. That puts me in the lead!" Pinsir called out, as he used his horns to throw one Beedrill into another one, knocking them both out.

"I have to disagree. I've just scored my 30th knockout, which means I'm the one who's winning," Pikachu called out.

"Cheeky little rat. Just try to keep that lead of yours," Pinsir said irritably, gnashing its horns together, as the four of them continued to fight off the Beedrill. Meanwhile, the other Pokemon were busily fighting off the Weedle and Kakuna that were with the swarm.

"Ok, that makes 14 for me. How about you guys?" Skipper asked.

"14 already? I only just got to 12," Poliwag replied, sounding a bit disappointed.

"Don't worry little one. The fact that you managed to get 12 on your own is pretty impressive," Staryu replied, blasting a Weedle back with Water Gun.

"Yeah, and at least you guys can move around. I need Poliwhirl's help to move around. I only managed to score 2 knock outs," Kakuna added.

"I myself have managed a grand total of 16," Poliwhirl stated. He then dropped Kakuna, from feeling an increasing heat coming from its body. He then noticed cracks all around Kakuna's body, "Oh, sorry about that, but you getting rather hot to touch. I didn't think dropping you would result in cracks forming."

"Cracks? Hot to the touch? But that would mean…" Kakuna didn't get a chance to finish, as a bright light erupted from his body, as he began to evolve, "Oh, hell yeah! I've been waiting for this!" Kakuna said, as he evolved into a Beedrill. Unlike the other Beedrill, Lincoln's Beedrill was completely green with blue eyes, "Oh, finally! I can move around again! I can't tell you how annoying that was!"

"He got to evolve twice in only a day? Not fair," Poliwag complained.

"Patience, little one. You'll get your chance to evolve someday," the green dome headed Pokemon said.

"He's right. It took quite a while for me to evolve into the Poliwhirl you see before you," Misty's Poliwhirl said, just as the swallow Pokemon took out a few incoming Beedrill.

"For now, we should focus on the battle ahead of us," she said.

"That's right. Seeing as how my score was only two, it's time for me to rectify that," Lincoln's Beedrill said, as he went into battle. While they were all battling, the four trainers were watching in awe from inside the cabin.

"Oh man, they are really going at it," Raigo commented.

"Yeah, and on top of that, Kakuna's evolved into Beedrill," Lincoln said, seeing his own Beedrill fight back against the swarm.

"It's like we said, Weedle and Caterpie evolve at low levels, so they're good for beginning trainers," Misty replied.

"Yeah, you're right," Lincoln said, before he pointed his Pokedex at the three new Pokemon he hadn't seen before.

"Taillow, the Tiny Swallow Pokemon, a Normal and Flying Type. Taillow courageously stands up to any foe, no matter how much stronger they are. This gutsy little Pokemon will remain defiant, even in defeat. However, it will cry out when it is hungry.

Ralts, the Feeling Pokemon, a Psychic and Fairy Type. Ralts has the ability to sense the emotions of others. If its trainer is cheerful, then Ralts will be cheerful as well. But it will hide if it senses hostility.

Poliwhirl, the Tadpole Pokemon, a Water Type, and the evolved form of Poliwag. Its two legs are well developed. Despite this, they prefer to live in the water than on land," The Pokedex explained.

"So that's what Poliwag will evolve into," Lincoln commented.

"That's right. And I plan on evolving my Poliwhirl into a Poliwrath," Misty stated.

"I'm curious about your Pokemon. They do not seem to be indigenous to the Kanto Region at all," Samurai said to Raigo.

"You're right. My Pokemon are rare in the Kanto region, since they were all caught in the Hoenn Region," Raigo replied. Just then, a knocking came from the door.

"You guys can come out now! Its safe!" Lincoln heard Pikachu call out.

"They said they're done," Lincoln said, as they exited the cabin, and were shocked to see piles of Weedle, Kakuna and Beedrill scattered all around, with their Pokemon looking rather pleased with themselves.

"Holy crap!" Misty exclaimed.

"Astounding! They've managed to defeat the entire swarm!" Samurai exclaimed in awe.

"Alright, losers, lets rack up the tally and see who came out on top! I've scored 38!" Pidgeotto proclaimed.

"Well, how about that. I managed to score just as many. And before you open your beak, Mirror Move knockouts do count," Fearow said rather smugly.

"Pfft, whatever. What about you jerks?" Pidgeotto asked, turning to the others.

"I was only able to knock out about 34 of them. I need to train myself to battle from long range!" Pinsir grumbled irritably, clenching one of his fists.

"Going by numbers, then that means I win with a total of 42," Pikachu chimed in, a smug look on his face.

"42?! How dd you score so many?!" Pidgeotto exclaimed.

"Well, considering that I can shoot of bolts of electricity from the ground and in the air, its safe to say where I stand," Pikachu replied, before turning to the others, "So, how'd you guys manage?"

"Pretty decent job, if I do say so myself. I scored 26," Staryu replied.

"I came in at 25, which all in all isn't too terrible," Poliwhirl added.

"I managed to rack up about 26 knockouts myself," Skipper added.

"Ralts and I scored 23 each," Taillow added.

"As for me, I was able to get up to 21 knockouts. Not great, but now that I'm able to move again, then who really cares about that?" Lincoln's Beedrill said nonchalantly.

"Which leaves me in last place with only 19," Poliwag said glumly.

"Hey, don't worry about it. You're still learning how to battle, so the fact that you score 19 wins all on your own is impressive," Staryu said to the young Tadpole Pokemon.

"Well, looks like this go around I'm the…" Pikachu cut himself off when he saw the leader Beedrill, the only still conscious swarm member, was still left, "Hey, there's still one more Beedrill left."

"Really? Judging by the size, that Beedrill must be the leader. So how about this? The first one to knock it out gets to add 10 points to their score!" Pidgeotto declared, as they all went in to attack when…

"ENOUGH ALREADY!" the Lead Beedrill pleaded, looking over to the trainers, "Look, we get it! We won't try to attack you anymore! Just call of these nutjob Pokemon of yours!"

"You're calling our Pokemon 'nutjobs'? Don't you think that's a little extreme?" Lincoln asked.

"They not only took out my entire swarm, but made a contest out of it! How can I NOT call them nutjobs?!" the lead Beedrill exclaimed.

"Wait, did you guys really make this into a competition?" Lincoln asked Pikachu, who sheepishly nodded, "So who won?" he asked.

"Who do you think? It was me," Pikachu replied, causing Fearow, Pidgeotto, and Pinsir to mutter something foul about the Electric Mouse Pokemon under their breaths.

"Alright guys, time to return for now. The competition's already been decided," Lincoln said. Each Pokemon were recalled into their Pokeballs by their respective trainers, but not before Pidgeotto gave one last glare to the leader Beedrill.

"Thank you," the Beedrill buzzed, before noticing something was off, "Weren't there two other humans with you? With a Meowth?"

"Yeah, they ditched us before running off to save their own skins. And something you should know, they were the ones to have gotten you and your swarm on our backs," Lincoln said.

"What do you mean?" the Beedrill asked.

"Their Koffing missed it's Sludge Attack, which struck your nest," Lincoln replied.

"You mean to tell me that all of this was caused by those three?!" the Beedrill yelled, her eyes glowing red, "Alright, you lot are free to go."

"Really? You're letting us go, just like that?" Lincoln asked.

"Yes. This was all caused by a huge misunderstanding on my part. But don't think this means we're on friendly terms. I am only going to ask you this one time; Never come near my hive again, or I will deal with you personally," the Beedrill warned.

"Uh, duly noted," Lincoln nervously replied.

"Good. Now then, once my swarm has recovered, we shall proceed to find and punish those other three. And as a token of my apologies for this misunderstanding, take this with you," the Beedrill said, giving Lincoln a baseball sized marble that was primarily gray in color with what looked to be some kind of black and yellow flame in the center, "That is one of my swarm's most prized treasures. Take it, and use it well."

"Uh, thanks. And we'll get out of your hair now," Lincoln said, as the four trainers left, leaving the Beedrill to look after her swarm.

"Oh, this is quite the mess."

Close to the Viridian Forest exit,

"So, what did that Beedrill give you?" Samurai asked.

"It was this," Lincoln replied, showing the marble like object.

"Hey, I think I've seen one of those on TV," Raigo commented.

"Really? What is it?" Misty asked.

"It's what's called a 'Mega Stone'. If a Pokemon is holding the correct Mega Stone it can undergo a transformation that's unlike any other kind of Evolution," Raigo explained.

"I've heard about these Mega Stones. They're supposed to be extremely hard to find, and only the most skilled trainers are able to use them properly," Samurai commented.

"I'll have to ask Professor Oak about it when I get the Pokemon Center," Lincoln commented. Pikachu then sniffed at the Mega Stone.

"You know, this kind of smells like what a Beedrill smells like, and I can sense the same kind of power they have too," Pikachu commented, just as they finally made it out of the forest.

"Following this path will take you on the most direct route to Pewter City," Samurai said.

"Thanks Samurai. Sorry we couldn't finish our battle," Lincoln said.

"It's quite alright, Lincoln. I shall train myself up, and if we are to meet on the road somewhere, then we can engage in battle then," Samurai said.

"That's something to look forward to. Until we meet again," Lincoln said, as the three of them left Samurai to return into the forest.

"Gaining 3 rivals in the course of only 2 days? You're on a roll, Lincoln," Misty commented.

"Yeah. But while we never officially declared ourselves rivals, there are two other trainers from Pallet Town that could be considered my rivals, those being Red and Gary," Lincoln replied.

"Well, in any case, Pewter City isn't too much farther," Raigo said, as they continued down the road. All the while, Lincoln thought of something.

"I wonder if Team Rocket ever made it out of the forest?"

Somewhere in the Viridian Forest,

"Dammit, I'm almost positive that we passed through here already!" Jessie grumbled, as she, James and Meowth continued to navigate through the forest, a scowl on her face, "Are you certain this is the right way, James?"

"How should I know?! You're the one who told us to leave all our equipment on the balloon!" James snapped.

"Are you implying that this is MY fault?!" Jessie snapped back, incensed by the accusation.

"Will you two quit yapping!? We have to get out of this place before…" Meowth didn't get a chance to finish his thought when the sound of buzzing was heard, "The Beedrill find us," he said, stopping dead in his tracks, along with his cohorts.

"My, my, what do we have here? The humans responsible for that sneak attack with that Sludge," the lead Beedrill said, turning to her swarm, "Get them! Make them hurt as badly as possible!" she ordered, as the swarm began buzzing more vigorously.

"Uh, Meowth? What did that Beedrill just say?" Jessie asked.

"We… should probably run away now," Meowth said, bolting off, "I DON'T WANNA DIE TODAY!" he screamed, followed closely by Jessie and James.

"MEOWTH, WAIT FOR US!" they yelled.

"After them! Hold nothing back!" the lead Beedrill ordered, as the swarm chased after them.
