Kanto Gets Loud
Chapter 66: The P-1 Grand Prix!
The next morning, outside the P-1 Grand Prix venue,
Crowds of people were packing into the entrance of the venue. Among them were Lincoln and friends, who were waiting to enter the arena themselves, "Didn't expect THIS big of a turnout," Lincoln commented.
"Well, for small towns like this, an event like the P-1 Grand Prix is a major event for business," Brock replied.
"He's right, you know. Not a lot of people come through small towns such as this one, so they host big events like this whenever they can," Misty added.
"I can get behind that. Oh, that reminds me! I need to call Charlie and the others," Lincoln said.
"Go right ahead. We'll find out what and where we need to go while waiting for the competition to start," Misty said. With that, Lincoln ducked out of sight from the crowd. He then exposed his arms, and rubbed Charlie's ring.
"Charlie? You there?" Lincoln asked.
"Yes I am. And the others are here as well," Charlie's voice was heard from the other side.
"It was so mean of you to keep me waiting. And here I thought you wanted to see more of me again," Verosika's voice said in a teasing pouty tone.
"Be fair, Verosika… It'll probably be your turn next time with some of us as well," Gwendolyn said.
"Right. In any case, the tournament's going to be starting soon. You ladies ready to come over?" Lincoln asked.
"Uh, I believe we are, yes," Charlie replied.
"Alright then," Lincoln replied, as he used his amulet to open the portal to the Monster Realm, allowing Charlie and the others to pass through. Though Milt was now wearing overalls. Verosika was also seen with what appeared to be a duffle bag, "Well, since everyone's here, shall we then?" he asked in a faux snooty tone.
"We shall," Charlie said in a faux haughty tone, earning snickers from herself and the others, as they made their way to the main lobby. Almost upon entering, many people began staring at each of the monster girls, but made the effort to not look like they were staring.
"Figures humans would be put off by us," Loona commented.
"The Bill Dad had passed the other day is still fresh, so they're probably not used to seeing our kind here," Charlie replied.
"Hey guys, it's Bruno!"
"You're kidding?! Bruno of the Elite Four!"
"It really is him! And he's huge!"
A group of people then began rushing over to where a very tall, very muscular man, with long, black hair, tattered pants, and heavy looking bracelets and anklets was standing, greeting them, "Hey there, Lincoln!" Misty called out.
"Misty!" Lincoln called out, as he and the princesses made their way over to her and Brock, "So, I'm guessing that's the Bruno Brock told me about before?"
"That's right. Bruno's a master with Fighting Type Pokemon, and is one of the Elite 4," Brock replied.
"He's… really big…" Octavia commented, seeing how much larger Bruno was compared to her and the others, as she only came up to about his beltline. Lincoln, on the other hand, only came up to his kneecaps. Bruno then took notice of Brock.
"Ah, Brock, good to see you again. Have you been keeping up on training?" Bruno asked.
"Actually, Master Bruno, the only reason I took on the role of Gym Leader was so that I can watch over it and my siblings while my parents were out on their journey. Now that they came back, I'm travelling around Kanto, trying to hone my skills to raise Pokemon as a Breeder, rather than battling with them," Brock replied. Bruno nodded.
"I see. No one can dictate what you do with your Pokemon. Just do what YOU want to do," Bruno replied, before turning to Misty, "And Misty! Lorelei told us that you've been doing well."
"Yep! I've been aiming to improve with my Water Pokemon!" Misty proclaimed. Bruno then turned to Lincoln.
"So, you must be the Lincoln kid that Lorelei mentioned. We've seen a lot of your battles on the news," Bruno replied.
"Y-Yes sir. I keep trying to improve each and every day," Lincoln replied respectfully.
"Hmm, good. As any trainer should do," Bruno replied, before taking note of the monster princesses behind him, "And I take it these people are friends of yours?"
"Yes sir. These are the Princesses of the Monster Realm, and they're also my fiancés to be," Lincoln replied.
"I see. Well, in any case, I look forward to seeing your progress in the tournament," Bruno nodded, as he walked through an important looking doorway.
"We should go get our seats too," Brock recommended. Just then, a staff member came up to them.
"Excuse me, but did I hear that right? Are you ladies royalty from the Monster Realm?" the staff member asked.
"Yes, that's right," Charlie replied.
"In that case, if you and your friends will follow me, I'll take you to some of the best seats in the house," the staff member replied.
"Oh! Well, that's very nice of you to do!" Charlie replied.
"Uh, I may need to portal into wherever you're going," Milt commented, looking down at her massive, beanbag sized breasts.
"Don't worry, Milt, we'll portal you over when we're inside," Charlie replied.
"I'll stay here with her, so she doesn't get too uncomfortable," Lincoln volunteered. Milt felt her heart skip a beat upon hearing his selfless words.
"Alright, we'll see you in a few," Misty replied, as the rest of them followed the staff member. Lincoln and Milt sat down on a nearby bench.
"Thank you, Lincoln. It's really sweet of you to do this for me," Milt said.
"Well, if we are to get married someday, I want to make sure you and the others are well taken care of, both mentally and physically," Lincoln replied. Milt blushed slightly, and pulled Lincoln closer to her. Lincoln was amazed at how strong she was. About five minutes passed before a portal opened up, and Octavia's head popped out.
"C'mon you two lovebirds! We really did get some great seats!" Octavia called. The two of them blushed feverishly, before passing through the portal. And true to the owl demoness' words, the box they had been given had the best seats in the house, overlooking the entire arena.
"Whoa, this is too cool!" Lincoln commented.
"Glad you think so too, Lincoln," Miu replied, just as the lights went out.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the P-1 Grand Prix! The name's Teddy the Scoop, and I'm here to give you all the play-by-play!" the announcer, a middle-aged man in a fancy, grey colored suit, said, as he stood in the center of the ring, "And helping me out are not one, not two, but three special guest announcers! First up is this year's host of the P-1 Grand Prix, the proprietor of the Pokemon Battle Club himself, Don George!" he said, as a Don George walked up next to him.
"It's a pleasure to see so many of you here to witness a true test of brawn against brawn, as the best of the best Fighting Type Pokemon duke it out for a shot at the being called 'Champions'," Don George said.
"Well said, Don George. And now, for our next guest announcer, you all know him, you all want to battle him someday, here he is, the Fighting Type expert of the Kanto Region Elite Four, Bruno!" Teddy said, causing the audience to erupt in cheers, as Bruno came running towards the ring, and with a single mighty leap, landed right in the middle of it.
"Are you all ready to see some true might?!" Bruno called, causing the audience to cheer wildly.
"Wow, simply showing his face here causes the crowd to go wild," Loona commented.
"And finally, our last guest announcer! He's here from the Unova Region by special invitation, and is Unova's own master of Fighting Type Pokemon, it's Marshall!" Teddy announced, causing the crowd to go wild again, as the man Lincoln encountered the night prior walked out.
"It's that guy!" he exclaimed.
"What guy?" Verosika asked.
"After I sent Charlie and the others home, I ran into him as he was coming out of the Pokemon Center. I never would've imagined HE was an Elite Four Member from another region," Lincoln explained, as Marshall got into the ring himself.
"Thank you all for having me here! I look forward to seeing so true might in the battles we'll witness here today!" Marshall proclaimed, causing the audience to go wild again.
"Being in this 'Elite Four' must be a big deal," Vaggie commented.
"Saying it's a 'big deal' is a major understatement! The Elite Four are trainers so powerful, that only the winners of a regional Pokemon League are allowed to challenge them to an official match!" Brock exclaimed.
"He's right! Even using Pokemon that have a type advantage over them doesn't guarantee victory!" Misty added. Vaggie backed up, a little put off by how intense the two trainers were.
"Now then, before we begin the tournament, we first would like to welcome some special audience members to the arena," Teddy said, as the spot lights shown down on the box Lincoln and the others were in, "We have some of the princesses of the Monster Realm here to watch the festivities. With the Interspecies Exchange Bill having been recently passed, let's try to make them all feel welcome!" the girls all waved as the cameras zoomed in on them.
"And now, we have a special treat for all of you!" Don George announced. Bruno and Marshall grinned.
"Well, shall we begin then?" Bruno asked, holding out a Pokeball.
"I was hoping you'd say that!" Marshall retorted, holding out a Pokeball himself. This alone caused the crowd to go wild again.
"That's right, folks! We're going to have an exhibition battle between Bruno and Marshall! The rules for the match are simple; Both trainers are only allowed one Pokemon, and there will be a ten-minute time limit! Whoever manages to knock out the other's Pokemon within that time limit will be declared the winner!" Teddy announced, as he and Don George vacated the ring.
"Alright, here's my Pokemon!" Bruno said, as he sent out a large, grey, muscular humanoid Pokemon with four arms. Lincoln took the opportunity to scan the Pokemon.
"Machamp, the Superpower Pokemon, a Fighting Type, and the fully evolved form of Machop. It punches with its four arms at blinding speeds. It can unleash 1,000 punches in two seconds. While it can send a train flying with a single punch, it is terrible at delicate work with its fingers," Dexter explained.
"Wait, did it just say it can throw 1,000 punches in only two seconds?!" Octavia exclaimed.
"It must be really fast to pull off something like that," Charlie commented.
"Ah, Machamp. Good choice. Now, see my Pokemon!" Marshall said, sending out another muscular humanoid Pokemon, but this one was sepia colored, and had large, pink veins protruding from its body. It also had a large, red nose, and was holding two large concrete pillars. Lincoln scanned this one as well.
"Conkeldurr, the Muscular Pokemon, a Fighting Type, and the evolved form of Gurdurr. Concrete mixed by Conkeldurr is more durable than regular concrete, even when the composition of the two is exactly the same. When it needs to go all out, it tosses its two pillars aside and proceeds to pummel its opponent with its bare fists," Dexter explained.
"Conkeldurr must do something more if it makes more durable concrete," Gwendolyn commented.
"Lisa would no doubt want to try to figure that out herself," Lincoln commented, as the bell rang, signaling the start of the match.
"Machamp, use Bulk Up!" Bruno called out. Machamp did so, become more buff than before, while also increasing its Attack and Defense.
"Ooh, such rippling muscles," Verosika mused.
"Conkeldurr, use Bulk Up too!" Marshall called out. Conkeldurr used Bulk Up as well, raising its own Attack and Defense Power, "Alright, now use Hammer Arm!" Conkeldurr then charged at Machamp, it's fist glowing, raising it to slam down on Machamp.
"Deflect it with Cross Chop!" Bruno called. Machamp then chopped at Conkeldurr in a crossing motion, blocking Hammer Arm.
"Just like Master Bruno, using his Pokemon's moves to make up for their weaknesses," Brock commented.
"What do you mean?" Lincoln asked.
"See, Machamp has an ability called 'No Guard', which makes any attacks made by or against it a guaranteed hit," Brock explained.
"But doesn't that mean Bruno's at a disadvantage if his Pokemon take a bunch of hits?" Gwendolyn asked.
"Not necessarily. Part of being a trainer is being able to find ways for your Pokemon to cover for their own weaknesses, and Bruno was able to do just that when he trained up all of his Pokemon," Brock replied.
"Now Machamp, use Focus Blast!" Bruno called out. Machamp then formed a ball of energy between its four hands, and threw it at Conkeldurr, striking the muscular Pokemon in the chest, "Now, do a Dual Chop!"
"Use Superpower to stop it!" Marshall called. While Machamp charged at Conkeldurr with its hands glowing cyan, Conkeldurr grew a bit more muscular, and slugged Machamp in the face, sending it back into the post. Conkeldurr then became a little less muscular, "Using Superpower might weaken you a little bit, Conkeldurr, but we can still show them our might!"
"Whoa, so this is what a battle between two Elite Four members is like," Lincoln commented in awe. His monster fiancés found his behavior adorable.
"And given that they're from two different regions makes this all the more exciting," Misty replied.
"Now Conkeldurr, use Dynamic Punch!"
"Machamp, counter with your own Dynamic Punch!" both Pokemon then swung with fists at each other with all their might, causing a massive explosion, sending them both skidding back, still standing. Just then, the bell rang, signaling the end of the exhibition match.
"Man, wish it could've gone on for a little longer," Misty pouted.
"Still, it was exciting to see," Lincoln commented.
"I think they might've done this exhibition match to help the contestants get more fired up for the tournament," Brock theorized.
"Well, it worked, 'cuz I'm raring to go!" Misty proclaimed.
"Just be sure to hope you don't get paired up with me in the first round," Lincoln replied in a competitive tone.
"Well, you have to agree that the two of them have spirit," Milt commented.
"And now, we'll begin the first round of the P-1 Grand Prix, Team Division! The rules are as easy to follow as the exhibition match. Each of our participating 16 trainers may use up to two Pokemon, but only one can be in the ring at a time. Trainers do have the option to swapping out their battling Pokemon for their other one. Time will not be kept during the tournament. Each battle will continue until both of either trainer's Pokemon cannot continue. And now, for our first match, we've got Timothy from Mauville City in the Hoenn Region, going up against Willa from the Kalos Region's Geosenge Town!" both trainers then entered the arena.
"Alright, here's my Pokemon! Go, Breloom!" Timothy said, sending out a Breloom.
"And now, for my first choice, go Hawlucha!" Willa said, sending out what could be described as a luchador bird. Lincoln scanned it.
"Hawlucha, the Wrestling Pokemon, a Fighting and Flying Type. In combat, Hawlucha uses its nimble movements to take advantage of its opponents blind spots. Its also skilled at using submission holds," Dexter explained. The bell rang, signaling the start of the round.
Meanwhile, at Fountain Heights Psychiatric Sanitorium *thunder and lightning*
Lori was being injected with some sedative, causing her feel more and more drowzy. She tried to fight it off, but the concoction was too powerful for her to resist, as she fell asleep. She then found herself in a barren dreamscape. She knew this was all a dream, but it didn't help her irritation, "I don't get it… why are they so insistent that WE'RE the bad guys? Lincoln should be the one admitted here, and subjected to this kind of torment, not me or Lynn!" she growled.
"Is that really what you think?" Lori looked up to see her phantasm form sitting across the dreamscape from her, looking quite smug.
"Oh great, just what I need… Can't you just leave me alone?" Lori questioned, as she turned to face away from the phantasm, only for it to reappear in front of her face.
"You know, maybe I should leave you… After all, everyone else seems to be doing it a lot these days!" phantasm Lori chuckled wickedly.
"You know it's because of Lincoln, right? I don't get why he's suddenly everyone's favorite! He's never done anything worthwhile with his life, apart from ruining the family, my relationship with Bobby, and his own relationship with Ronnie Anne!" Lori ranted.
"Yeah, here's the thing about Ronnie Anne… She and Lincoln wouldn't be able to be able to be a couple, or get married if you and Bobby tied the knot someday, or if Lincoln decided to go after Carlota. That kind of thing is considered taboo in most parts of the world, and would no doubt get the two of them ostracized by society," phantasm Lori explained.
"This again?! Look, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne, and pretty much everyone in the world doesn't know true love when they see it! I, on the other hand, do! And if I say those two need to be together, then they will be together, just like Bobby and I would've been, if not for either of those little twerps ruining everything!" Lori retorted.
"Lori, are you aware that what you're suggesting is akin to incest? Lincoln and Ronnie Anne would be in-laws if you and Bobby did wind up getting married, and vice versa. Is that really what you're in to? If that's the case, then why not try shipping your brother with one of your sisters as well? It wouldn't be any different than shipping him with Ronnie Anne," phantasm Lori asked.
"Eww, gross, no! What kind of girl, other than Ronnie Anne, would be happy with a little piss stain like Lincoln? He's the absolute worst! He posted a video of not only MY embarrassing moments, but the rest of our sister's moments as well, not to mention he tried hogging the sweet spot in Van-zilla for himself and cost us a day trip that day, he almost made me miss prom, and he even got our Sister Fight Protocol banned from the house, just because Mom felt, for whatever reason, he just had to have a part in it!" Lori ranted. Phantasm Lori had a look of faux contemplation on her face.
"Hmm, ok, all good points. Counterpoints that I must address: First, with the video, he did make up for it by posting a video embarrassing himself. And what about that picture you took of him after you threw up on him, hmm? Did you get his consent to do that? Sounds pretty hypocritical to me," phantasm Lori stated.
"W-Well, maybe I didn't, but…"
"And with the sweet spot, wouldn't you agree that you all would've had your little day trip if you had just come up with a fair system where each of you got a turn instead of dismantling the car with your bare hands?"
"I-I guess we could have, but…"
"And didn't Lincoln also convince your boss to let him cover for your shift, just so you could go to prom?" at this point, Lori was unable to speak in defense, "And finally, you and your sisters were just as much at fault for getting your little Sister Fight Protocol banned for refusing to make a proper system for your brother. I mean, come on! How is ganging up on him an acceptable system?"
"It's a sister thing! Someone like him wouldn't understand, even if we explained it to him in a way that even HE could understand!" the phantasm Lori then got an idea.
"Well, in that case, why don't you see how well you deal with a 'brother thing'?" the phantasm Lori said, snapping her fingers, which changed the dreamscape around them into what appeared to be Lincoln's bedroom, except it was full of Lori's stuff.
"What is this? Why am I in Lincoln's room and not in my own bedroom?" Lori questioned.
"Why don't you go see for yourself?" the phantasm Lori asked, as the door opened, revealing the same hallway Lori has seen everyday of her life.
"It just looks like the same old house I've always live in," Lori commented. When the doors opened, her jaw dropped upon seeing who was coming out of each of her sibling's bedrooms. The majority of them looked like male versions of all her sisters,
"You got everything you need for your fashion show, Loni?" dreamscape Lincoln asked, as he stepped out of Lori and Leni's bedroom with a male version of Leni.
"I think so. I know I've got the dresses, the tuxedos, the accessories… I think I'm good," the male Leni, known now as 'Loni', replied, as he wheeled out a rack of clothes bags.
"Lincoln!" Lori yelled, marching towards the orange clad boy.
"Yes, Lori?" dreamscape Lincoln asked.
"Who is this guy, and why are you two in MY bedroom?!" Lori asked. All the boy versions of her sisters began laughing at her.
"Man, and I thought Loni was dense! That's always been the room Stinkcoln has always shared with Loni!" the male Lynn rudely stated.
"Hey, I may not be that sharp, but I'm not stupid, Lynniot!" Loni snapped back. The male Lynn sneered at him.
"Oh, you wanna go?!" he challenged.
"It's on now, bitch!" and with that, both Loni and the male Lynn got into a fierce fight.
"Oh brother, of course you had to get them started in a fight, Lori!" dreamscape Lincoln complained.
"Hang on, and I'll get this whole mess sorted out," Lori said, only to be restrained by some weird goo from a machine the male Lisa had used.
"Lori, in case you forgotten, we have a Brother Fight Protocol in place for such an event. And the only thing you're required to do is to stay out of it!" the male Lisa stated, as Lori was forcibly ushered back into her bedroom.
"What is going on here?" Lori questioned, rubbing her head.
"What do you mean?" the phantasm Lori asked in a tone indicating she felt she didn't need to bother asking.
"I mean why are there ten boys, like Lincoln, instead of ten girls, like me?"
"It's just a little taste of what Lincoln goes through on a daily basis with you and the others, as well as the hell you all put him through during your Sister Fight Protocol," the phantasm Lori explained, just as the door to Lori's dreamscape bedroom was swung open. The male Luna and Luan were holding the male Lynn.
"Lori, out, now!" the male Luna demanded.
"Can't you just use one of the other bedrooms?" Lori asked.
"No time for questions!" the male Luan replied, as the two of them forcibly kicked Lori out of her bedroom, slamming it shut.
"Doesn't feel too good being on the receiving end of this kind of treatment, does it?" phantasm Lori asked.
"No, because they shouldn't be treating me like this! And one other thing, why am I the only sister?!" Lori questioned.
"Hmm, you do raise a valid point," phantasm Lori replied, as she snapped her fingers.
"Great, now I can show… you…" Lori stopped upon hearing her voice was more masculine. She then used the selfie mode on her phone, and found that she had been turned into a boy, "AAAH!? WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Lori yelled, only to receive some kind of mouth covering shot over her mouth. She turned to the source to see Lisa with a sort of bazooka device.
"Let this be a warning to you, Loki… do NOT make any noise during the Sister Fight Protocol. We can't afford any unnecessary noise," dreamscape Lisa stated unsympathetically, as she retreated back into her bedroom. Lori then struggled to take off the mouth covering, eventually doing so, causing her/him to yelp in pain.
"NOW you can understand how Lincoln felt during your little protocol," phantasm Lori, now a phantasm Loki, chided in amusement. Lori could only give the phantasm the finger, when…
"MOM! LOKI FLIPPED ME OFF!" dreamscape Lola tattled.
"LOKI!" the authoritarian tone of Rita was heard, causing Lori to groan in annoyance.
Back at the P-1 Grand Prix,
"Meditite, use Force Palm!" Misty instructed, as Meditite used Force Palm against a large, panda like Pokemon with a bamboo sprig in its mouth, sending it down to defeat.
"Pangoro is down! That means Misty Waterlily of Cerulean City will be moving on to the second round!" Teddy declared.
"That was some nice work, Meditite!" Misty praised. Meditite looked pleased as well.
"And moving on to our second to final match of the first round, our next match has Lincoln Loud of Royal Woods, Michigan in the US, going up against Frieda of Blackthorn City in the Johto Region!" Teddy announced, as Lincoln entered the arena, along with his opponent, a young preteen girl with lime green hair done in pigtails.
"Quick girls, put these on!" Verosika said, as she dug through the duffle bag she brought, and handed something to each of the other girls. Upon seeing them, the other girls blushed feverishly.
"Verosika, are you crazy?! We can't wear these!" Miu exclaimed.
"But wouldn't you want our future hubby to feel our support?" Verosika asked in a convincing tone.
"Trainers, chose your first Pokemon!" Don George declared.
"Alright, Mienfoo, you're up!" Lincoln said, sending out Mienfoo.
"Hakamo-o, to my side!" Frieda said, as she sent out a beige, draconic looking Pokemon with large, yellow scales. Lincoln took a moment to scan it.
"Hakamo-o, the Scaly Pokemon, a Dragon and Fighting Type, and the evolved form of Jangmo-o. The scales it sheds can be molded and processed to make pots and pans. Because they conduct heat so well, they're a popular item. It makes noise by clanging its scales together, and when the sound reaches its peak, Hakamo-o attacks," Dexter explained, as the bell rang.
"Alright Hakamo-o, let's get in the first strike! Use Dragon Claw!" Frieda called. Hakamo-o then charged at Mienfoo.
"Quick, use Fake Out and stop that Dragon Claw!" Lincoln called out. Mienfoo leapt right at Hakamo-o, and then clapped its paws together, sending it skidding back a few feet, its Dragon Claw being nullified from flinching, "Sweet! Alright, now let's power up with Hone Claws, then into Force Palm!" Mienfoo began clicking her claws together, all the while powering up. She then got in close to Hakamo-o, and unleashed Force Palm right into the Scaly Pokemon's chest.
"First Fake Out, then into Hone Claws and Force Palm. What do you guys make of such a combo?" Teddy asked his fellow announcers.
"Fake Out allows the user to not only deal damage, but cancels out whatever move that is used against it by causing it to flinch. Add Hone Claws' ability to increase Attack and Accuracy, then into Force Palm, and you've got yourself quite the combination," Don George explained.
"It would appear that Lincoln enjoys battling strategically, while also adapting to the field and opponent he faces," Bruno added.
"But considering that Hakamo-o is also a Dragon Type, he and Mienfoo could be in for a rough ride," Marshall pointed out.
"Hakamo-o, use Sky Uppercut!" Frieda called out. Hakamo-o closed in quickly on Mienfoo, delivering a powerful uppercut.
"Quick, while its in range, use Vital Throw!" Mienfoo shook off the blow from Sky Uppercut, and grabbed hold of Hakamo-o, and threw it back down onto the ring. Hakamo-o was still able to get back up, "This Hakamo-o is tough! I need to finish this here and now! Mienfoo, use Drain Punch!" Mienfoo then threw a punch against Hakamo-o. An orb of light emerged from the Scaly Pokemon, and merged into Mienfoo.
"Using Drain Punch allows the user to siphon off some of the opponent's energy!" Teddy stated.
"Seems like Lincoln wants to keep Mienfoo from sustaining too much damage. After all, that Sky Uppercut looked to pack a wallop," Don George commented.
"YAY! GO LINCOLN, GO!" Lincoln looked over to the box he and the others were seated in, and blushed feverishly upon seeing his monster fiancés, all dressed up as cheerleaders, complete with tops that were obviously too small for their breasts, and skirts that were too short, giving everyone a full view of their panties. The only ones who didn't seem to be bothered by it were Verosika, on account of her apparent love of showing off, and Milt, who wasn't too bothered by how immodest she was dressed.
"Well, I'm glad they're showing their support," Lincoln commented quietly, before turning his attention back to the battle, "Alright Mienfoo, one last push! Use Drain Punch again!" Mienfoo once again, punched Hakamo-o, siphoning off the last of Hakamo-o's energy, sending it down to defeat.
"Hakamo-o is down! Now, what Pokemon will Frieda choose next?" Teddy questioned.
"Hitmontop, you're up!" Frieda yelled, sending out a small, brown bodied humanoid Pokemon with a blue colored torso and feet. It also had a spike on the top of its head. Lincoln scanned this Pokemon as well.
"Hitmontop, the Handstand Pokemon, a Fighting Type, and an evolved form of Tyrogue. It fights by spinning like a top. The centrifugal force boosts the its destructive power by a factor of ten," Dexter explained.
"Yeesh, got to watch out for any spinning attacks. Keep your guard up, Mienfoo! This one might be just as tough as Hakamo-o!" Lincoln warned.
"I will not allow my martial arts training to fail me now," Mienfoo replied, as the bell rang.
"Alright, lets start off by using Swift!" Lincoln called out. Mienfoo fired off Swift at Hitmontop, when…
"Deflect it with Rapid Spin!" Frieda called. Hitmontop got onto its head spike, and began spinning around like a top, blocking Swift.
"What?!" Mienfoo exclaimed.
"They used Rapid Spin to stop Swift!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"Now there's a prime example of using an offense move for defense! Bruno, what are your thoughts?" Teddy asked.
"Frieda must had trained hard with her Hitmontop to be able to use such a defense as that. She's definitely a trainer no one should underestimate," Bruno replied.
"Alright, now use Triple Kick!" Frieda called. Hitmontop spun right at Mienfoo, delivering three powerful kicks, one right after another. Mienfoo was barely standing after that onslaught.
"Mienfoo, I have an idea on how to deal some damage to Hitmontop and get you to tag out with Riolu," Lincoln said.
"Whatever you have planned, I suggested doing it soon, because I don't think I can handle another attack like that," Mienfoo replied.
"Don't worry, I'm sure it'll work," Lincoln replied. Mienfoo nodded, and got back up, still a little wobbly.
"Hitmontop, now, use Quick Attack and finish off Mienfoo!" Frieda called. Hitmontop then charged quickly at Mienfoo.
"Alright Mienfoo, use U-Turn!" Lincoln called. Mienfoo charged, slamming into Hitmontop, stopping Quick Attack, before returning to its Pokeball, allowing Riolu to swap out.
"Alright, my turn!" Riolu excitedly exclaimed.
"And we've got a tough opponent for you this time around, Riolu. Think you can take that Hitmontop?" Lincoln asked.
"Sure thing, Mr. Lincoln! Yep, leave it to me! I can take it, no problem!" Riolu replied.
"Hitmontop, use Triple Kick!" Frieda called. Hitmontop began spinning right at Riolu.
"Quick, use Force Palm on the ring!" Lincoln called. Riolu placed it's palm on the ring floor, and fired off Force Palm, causing the entire ring to shake violently, and stop Hitmontop's advance, "That worked out great! Alright, now lets use Vacuum Wave!" now Riolu fired off Vacuum Wave, striking Hitmontop while it was still in the air. However, the Handstand Pokemon was able to keep standing.
"Alright Hitmontop, desperate times call for desperate measures! Use Rock Tomb!" Frieda called. Hitmontop then hurled Rock Tomb right at Riolu, trapping the Emanation Pokemon within the large boulders, "Now, while it's pinned in place, use High Jump Kick!" Hitmontop leapt high into the air, and came hurdling at Riolu knee first.
"This isn't good for Lincoln! Riolu's a sitting duck out there!" Teddy proclaimed.
"If Riolu could get away, and dodge in time, it could give both it and Lincoln an opportunity to wrap this up," Marshall commented.
"What are they talking about?" Loona asked.
"Well, when your Pokemon uses either Jump Kick or High Jump Kick and it misses, the user gets damaged instead, which makes both kicking attacks a big-time gamble," Brock replied.
"Riolu, can you get out of there?" Lincoln asked, as Riolu struggled.
"I don't think I can!" Riolu replied, as Hitmontop was nearing the Emanation Pokemon.
"Well, if you can't get out, then try to Counter it!" Lincoln called out. As soon as Hitmontop was able to strike Riolu, it unleashed a powerful punch, sending Hitmontop back, and breaking Riolu out of the rocks. Hitmontop was still standing, but just barely, as was Riolu.
"Looks like the two of them can only handle one more attack, so let's make this count, Hitmontop! Use Triple Axel!" Frieda called out. Hitmontop once again started spinning right at Riolu, this time with its feet glowing a light blue color.
"Riolu, use Vacuum Wave, and stop them in their tracks!" Lincoln called. Riolu then fired off Vacuum Wave, which was deflected from the rotation of Hitmontop, "Not good! Use Double Team to dodge!" Riolu began using Double Team, and was narrowly able to avoid Triple Axel, "Alright, now, use Thunder Punch!" Riolu closed the distance between it and Hitmontop, who had stopped spinning, and landed a powerful Thunder Punch, sending Hitmontop down to defeat.
"Hitmontop is down! Riolu managed to pull off an impressive, come from behind victory at the last second, allowing it, Mienfoo, and their trainer, Lincoln Loud, to advance to the second round!" Teddy proclaimed.
"Alright! Nice work, Riolu!" Lincoln exclaimed, as he went to catch the wobbly Fighting Type, "You go ahead and take a breather. We'll go get you and Mienfoo treated before our turn in the next round," he said, recalling Riolu. Frieda recalled Hitmontop, before casting a sideward glare at Lincoln.
"He's one that I'll need to be wary of when the Pokemon League rolls around," she said to herself, as she left the arena.
"Yay! You were all great!" Verosika cheered.
"Heh, thanks so much. It means a lot to hear you and the others supporting me like that," Lincoln replied, before pointing to their cheerleader outfits, "By the way, what's with the cheerleader get ups?"
"It was Verosika's dumb idea to make us dress up like this," Loona replied bitterly.
"Aw c'mon! You have to admit that we all look great in them, right?" Verosika asked.
"Well, in any case, I'm going to take Mienfoo and Riolu to get treated," Lincoln replied.
"And now, for the first round's final match! In one corner, we have Teri from the Alola Region's Paniola Town, going up against Dylan from Icirius City in the Unova Region!" Teddy announced. Dylan entered the arena, alongside a girl dressed in all white. Even her hair was white, and she had piercing purple eyes.
"That guy was bound to show up sooner or later," Charlie commented.
"I'm guessing that's the full of himself guy you told us about?" Gwendolyn asked.
"Yeah. He talks big about being the apprentice of a Fighting Type Master, and how he's guaranteed the winners spot at the end of the competition," Charlie replied.
"So it'll be one of those two that I'll be facing in the next round," Lincoln commented.
"Well, which of them are you gunning for to battle?" Octavia asked.
"Well, I don't know anything about that Teri girl, and Dylan seems really full of himself, but I did manage to see two of his Pokemon yesterday," Lincoln replied.
"So, you want to battle Dylan since you know what he'll be using?" Milt asked.
"Basically, yes," Lincoln replied with a shrug.
"Alright, Toxicroak, you're up!" Dylan said, sending in Toxicroak.
"That… is one gross looking Pokemon," Verosika shuddered.
"To my side, Crabrawler!" Teri said, as she sent out what looked to be a crab like Pokemon with boxing glove like pincers. Lincoln took a moment to scan it.
"Crabrawler, the Boxing Pokemon, a Fighting Type. It punches so much that its pincers fall off from overuse, but they grow back quickly. What little meat inside the pincers is rich and delicious. A battle between two Crabrawler is like a boxing match," Dexter explained. Lincoln then handed his Pokedex to Charlie.
"In case you girls want some info on the Pokemon that are going to be in this match, just open up the Pokedex, and Dexter will give you the information on them," Lincoln explained, before heading off to get his Pokemon healed up.
Back with Lori,
Lori was completely exhausted. She had gone back to being her usual self after being made to deal with the consequences of the dreamscape Sister Fight Protocol as Loki, and was completely wiped out, "Ok… so maybe… Lincoln did suffer a bit more than we intended. But I still have to hold onto the belief that he and Ronnie Anne HAVE to be together," she stated. Her phantasm look-a-like could only shake her head in annoyance.
"This again? Seriously? I guess I'm just going to have to show you what a future like that would be if two in-laws like them got married," phantasm Lori said, as she changed the world around them. Lori then saw that she was in a well-furnished house, and looking on the wall, she saw pictures of her and Bobby, along with two kids of their own, looking like mini versions of the two of them. Though Lori didn't notice the unhappy look in Bobby's eyes.
"I-Is this really…?" she asked shakily.
"Yes, it is. Welcome to a potential future where you and Bobby do get married," phantasm Lori replied. Lori was absolutely ecstatic. She was in her dream future. But it was then she realized something.
"You said that this was a future where Lincoln and Ronnie Anne got married, right? Any chance we can see them?" Lori asked.
"I was hoping you'd say that," phantasm Lori replied, as she snapped her fingers, transporting the two of them to a house in another, ritzier part of town, "Well, here we are, at the house your brother and Bobby's sister share."
Lori noticed several cars in the driveway, "Are they having company over?" she asked.
"Lets go in and see for yourself," phantasm Lori replied, as both she and Lori phased through the front door.
"Whoa, how did we do that?" Lori asked.
"You know the story 'A Christmas Carol'? The events we are about to see are merely shadows of what is most likely to happen if you continue trying to be a self-appointed cupid. No one can either see nor hear us," phantasm Lori replied, as she guided Lori to the living room, where older versions of all of Lori's family, including Lynn Sr., were sitting around, chatting away. On a pair of nearby loveseats, she saw both her and Bobby, alongside Lincoln and Ronnie Anne. However, it was clear that the future Lori was the only one among the four that looked truly happy. Near where Lincoln and Ronnie Anne were seated, Lori could see a little baby girl that had features of both of them, crawling and gurgling as she played with Lily.
"Lincoln, why don't you and Ronnie Anne look happy? I mean, you finally got married just as you wanted, right?" the future Lori asked.
"Don't you mean we got married just as YOU wanted?" the future Lincoln bitterly replied. Both Lori and the future Lori rolled their eyes with a groan.
"This again? Don't tell me you're still hung up on that dumb 'in-laws can't get married to each other' crap!" the future Lori exclaimed.
"How can we not? Every time we go out, we get harassed by everyone around us, saying that our marriage is sinful," the future Ronnie Anne stated, sounding equally as bitter.
"And to make matters worse, our daughter isn't spared from the taunting. When we were at the park, some people came by and flat out called her an 'abomination of sin,'" the future Lincoln added.
"Who cares what they say? I see her as a beautiful angel with great potential to do anything!" the future Lori argued. Just then, what appeared to be a brick was hurled through the window with a letter attached to it. On it was a threatening letter;
"That sinful abomination is a blight on this world! If you keep her alive, we will take action to cleanse the world of her existence! And don't bother trying to get law enforcement involved. It'll only make things worse for you!"
"Apparently, whoever threw this brick doesn't agree with you," the future Bobby stated, as he got up.
"Bobby, where are you going?" the future Lori asked.
"I'm leaving, Lori… I can't do this anymore! Your actions have painted targets on both of our sibling's backs, and now their daughter is being targeted! I… I just can't stay with you any longer!" the future Bobby exclaimed.
"B-B-But Bobby, I was just…"
"Trying to keep us together at the expense of our sibling's freedom. Yes, that much I know. And you want to know something, Lori? You are the worst type of person, since you never once took into account whether or not the two of the would be genuinely happy together! And something else, I heard through the grapevine that some people are petitioning to have the two of them banned from receiving help from law enforcement! Is that really what you wanted for them!?" the future Bobby's words were harsh, but Lori felt, in a twisted way, they were true. But even so, she still remained anchored to her beliefs.
"Now do you see, Lori? Your attempts to get your brother and ex-boyfriend's sister together, if the two of you got back together, would only lead them down the road to ultimate unhappiness, eventually leading you to being all alone in the world," phantasm Lori said, as she then showed an image of an elderly, homeless Lori, begging for scraps on the streets.
"This… is this really going to be my future?" Lori asked, horrified at what she was seeing.
"As said in A Christmas Carol, these are the shadows of things that might be. If you don't change your ways, I'm afraid that this could end up being an inescapable future that you yourself have brought upon yourself," phantasm Lori replied, as she returned the world around them to an empty void. Lori could do nothing, but curl up into a ball, and start crying from the scarring images she was forced to witness.
Back in the real world,
Lori's heartrate was being monitored, as it had been spiking rapidly throughout the treatment, as tears began rolling down her cheeks, "Looks like we might've had an early breakthrough with breaking down her defenses," the doctor commented, smiling vindictively. The other doctors could only shudder at how he said that with such glee.
"Creepy much?" one of them rhetorically asked.
Meanwhile, back at the P-1 Grand Prix,
Lincoln was returning to the box where he and the others were sharing during to competition, "Ok, Mienfoo and Riolu should be all set to for the next round. Now I just have to get back and hopefully get to see the last of the match between Dylan and Teri," he said to himself, just as he entered the box, only to bump into Verosika, "Oof, sorry about that."
"No worries. But you seemed to be in a rush… Were you just coming to get a full view of my panties? If so, I'd gladly show," Verosika teased, lifting her skirt a bit, only to get a karate chop to the head by Loona.
"Cut the kid a break, would ya? He's still only 12!" the hellhound teen growled.
"Eh… thanks for that," Lincoln said, as the two of them let him inside, "So, how's the battle going?" he asked.
"By the looks of it, Dylan is about to win," Misty replied, as Dylan's Scrafty was up against what could be described as a large, crab like Pokemon that looked like a cross with a yeti.
"Whoa, what Pokemon is that?!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"According to your Pokedex, it's called 'Crabominable, the Wooly Crab Pokemon.' A Fighting and Ice Type, that's the evolved form of that Crabrawler you scanned before going to take care of your Pokemon. Apparently, there are records of it being able to turn back an avalanche with a flurry of punches. It also starts pummeling things before taking a moment to think things through," Charlie replied, as she returned Lincoln's Pokedex.
"I bet Lana and Lisa would get a kick out of seeing that," Lincoln replied.
"Now Scrafty, use Brick Break!" Dylan called out. Scrafty charged right at Crabominable, and delivered a powerful chop, that sent Crabominable out of the ring, and down to defeat. The bell was then rung.
"And Crabominable is out! Moving on to the next round will be Dylan of Icirrius City!" Teddy proclaimed. Dylan seemed pleased with his victory, as was Scrafty.
"Wow, this guy really is more full of himself than we thought," Vaggie commented.
"And with that, the first round is concluded! If you'll all turn your attention to the main screen, you'll see the second-round match ups with our remaining eight contestants!" Don George said, as the jumbotron displayed the second-round match ups, "We have Timothy of Mauville City VS Percy from Olivine City! Jameson, from parts unknown here in Kanto VS Gladys of Jubilife City! Tsubasa from Mistralton City VS Misty! And finally, Lincoln Loud from Royal Woods, Michigan will be going up against Dylan from Icirrius City! But we'll take a fifteen minute intermission so our competitors can heal up for the next round," and with that, several audience members left the stands.
"As I suspected, Dylan's going to be my next round opponent. Can any of you guys tell me how he battled? Any information could prove useful," Lincoln asked.
"He didn't seem to have much in the way of strategy, except from playing dirty by using Toxicroak to poison his opponents, and use underhanded tactics by Scrafty, like using some move called 'Sand Attack' to blind the opponent," Gwendolyn replied.
"Sounds like he likes battling by putting his opponents in a tougher spot than usual. I'd better think of a way around that," Lincoln commented.
"So, how do intend to do that?" Milt asked.
"Well, both of Dylan's Pokemon are troublesome in their own right, what, with Toxicroak's Poison, and Scrafty's cheap shot attacks, like the Sand Attack Gwen mentioned," Lincoln replied, before he got an idea, "Hang on a minute, I might have an idea at least for Mienfoo," he said, as he dug through his bag, and pulled out his TM Case and Move Tutor device. Rifling through, he eventually came across a TM by the name of 'Arieal Ace', "Ok, hopefully this works," he said, as he checked for compatible Pokemon. And true to form, Mienfoo was in fact compatible, "Great! Now I just have to teach this Mienfoo, and I should be set."
"That's all well and good, but you can't expect Mienfoo to carry the entire round, do you?" Loona asked.
"Not to worry. I've got a TR in mind for Riolu. And it's one that your dad bought for me during the festival," Lincoln replied, pulling out a TR labeled "Zen Headbutt".
"One my Dad bought?" Loona parroted.
"Yep. My plan is to have Mienfoo battle primarily against Scrafty, while Riolu does what it can against Toxicroak," Lincoln replied, as he finished teaching Mienfoo Arieal Ace, and proceeded to start teaching Riolu Zen Headbutt.
"I get what you're planning. Since Toxicroak is a Poison and Fighting Type, a Psychic Type move like Zen Headbutt will help out a lot," Brock commented.
"Speaking of which, Misty, you should have a plan ready for when you take on Tsubasa," Lincoln added.
"Not to worry. I've got that part figured out," Misty replied, as Lincoln finished teaching Riolu Zen Headbutt, resulting in the TR disintegrating.
"Whoa, it just broke apart?" Octavia asked.
"That's the one downside to TRs. They're one time use only, unlike the TM I used with Mienfoo," Lincoln replied.
"There's still some time before the next round. Why don't you and your fiancés chat for a bit. I'm going to get some snacks," Brock suggested, as he got up to leave.
"And I got to go to the bathroom. I'll be back in a few," Misty added, as she left as well, leaving Lincoln alone with his future fiancés.
"So, what do you girls want to talk about in the meantime?" Lincoln sheepishly asked.
"Well, seeing as how Charlie, Vaggie and Miu had their turns dating you last night, it's only fair that the rest of us should have a chance to talk and get to know you a bit more," Verosika replied.
"So, what did you girls talk about with Lincoln?" Gwendolyn asked Charlie and them.
"Well, we talked about what we do in our general free time, like how I help out the citizens of the Monster Realm, or how Vaggie practices spear fighting, or Miu's intense physical training under her father, all while we're going to high school," Charlie replied.
"Well, in that case, I'll tell you that in addition to going to high school myself, I do side work as one of the most popular pop stars in the monster realm," Verosika proudly stated.
"Whoa, really? That's amazing. Reminds me of how Luna, my sister, not you, Loona," Lincoln clarified, to which the hellhound nodded, "Has her own rock band, the Moon Goats."
"That's… really their name?" Octavia asked.
"Their reason behind the name still… kind of eludes me to this day. But they seem popular enough around Royal Woods," Lincoln replied.
"Yes. Well, part of why I chose to start out as a pop star, apart from getting attention from legions of adoring, fans who simp for me, and the massive amount of money I rake in, is also to show that a succubus, like myself, is more than just a hot bod people can have wet dreams about," Verosika added, a hint of saddened annoyance in her tone. Lincoln was able to pick up on it easily.
"Is… there something troubling you, Verosika?" he asked.
"Not exactly… it's just… I guess you can say that I'm sick of the legacy that us succubi are forced to deal with. I'm tired of people thinking that I must be a total slut, just because I am a succubus. To others, my kind is just a way to get laid. No one ever stops to think about how we feel, that maybe we want to genuinely feel romance for ourselves, to be happy. But the chances of finding someone interested in me as a person are about as low as you can get," Verosika ranted, cupping her cheeks in her hands.
"Well, what if I'm part of that low percentile?" Lincoln asked, catching the attention of his succubus fiancé, and the others, "It may be true that I do find you attractive on the outside, but I'm not shallow enough to focus simply on that. You and the others are girls before anything else, as far as I'm concerned, and you have feelings just like everybody else. If people want to view you as some object, then that's their own fault for not seeing you as a person," he explained. Needless to say, each of the girls felt their hearts all skip a beat upon hearing Lincoln's kind words. Verosika, especially, was taken aback.
"That's very sweet of you to say that, Lincoln," Verosika replied.
"Just like with what I told Milt while we were waiting for you guys to get to the box, I want to make sure you girls are all taken care of, physically, emotionally, and mentally," Lincoln replied. Again, all the girls felt their hearts skip a beat. They weren't sure why, but they liked that feeling, "Ok, so who'd like to go next?"
"I'll go," Octavia volunteered.
"Ok Octavia, tell me more about yourself," Lincoln urged. For the rest of the intermission, Lincoln's monster fiancés talked about their hobbies, interests, as well as their hopes for the future, "This is all valuable information for me to know. Thank you girls for talking about all this."
"No problem. But enough about us; What about you, Lincoln?" Miu asked.
"You must have some big ambitions for the future, y'know, besides traveling regions like Kanto," Loona added.
"Well, truth be told, I would like to be a lot of things, like a detective, an astronaut, a cartoonist, paranormal investigator, stage magician, just to help keep my options open," Lincoln replied.
"Fairly normal for kids like you," Vaggie commented.
"I can't tell you how many stories I've heard of kids wanting to be astronauts when they grow up," Charlie giggled.
"Yeah, that is my hope. But as I said, I'm keeping my options open for time being. But one other goal I want to accomplish as a trainer is to meet Ho-Oh," Lincoln replied.
"'Ho-Oh'? Is that a Pokemon?" Verosika asked, just as Brock and Misty came back with snacks.
"So, what have you all been up to while we were gone?" Misty asked, as she took her seat, along with Brock as well.
"We've been talking about our hobbies and interests, as well as our goals for the future," Milt replied. Just then, Teddy began announcing once again.
"And now, we'll begin our second round! And here's our first match! In the first round, with his Breloom and Blaziken, its Timothy of Mauville City! And his opponent will be Percy from Olivine City, who's only known Pokemon as of right now is his Hitmonlee!" Teddy announced, as both Timothy, and his opponent, Percy, entered the arena.
"The rules for the second round are the same as the first round. Only two Pokemon per trainer, and two knockouts are required to attain victory. Now then, trainer's select your first Pokemon!" Don George proclaimed.
"Blaziken, you're up!" Timothy called out, sending in a tall, red and yellow humanoid chicken like Pokemon with flaming wrists.
"Hitmonlee, you're on!" Percy said, sending in a brown colored humanoid Pokemon with no facial features apart from eyes, and spring like legs.
"Those are about as cool Pokemon as they come," Lincoln commented, as he scanned both of them.
"Blaziken, the Blaze Pokemon, a Fire and Fighting Type, and the fully evolved form of Torchic. Its powerful legs can clear a 30-story building in one leap. The stronger the foe it faces, the more intense the flames on its wrists burn.
Hitmonlee, the Kicking Pokemon, a Fighting Type, and an evolved form of Tyrogue. Its legs freely stretch and contract. The stretchy legs allow it to hit a distant opponent with a rising kick," Dexter explained.
"So, they're mainly kicking based fighters, right?" Gwendolyn asked.
"By the looks of it, yes," Lincoln replied, as the bell rang, signaling the start of the match.
"Alright Blaziken, use Blaze Kick!" Timothy called. Blaziken's foot ignited, as it swung it at Hitmonlee, who took the kick head on.
"Hitmonlee, use Rolling Kick!" Percy called. Hitmonlee's leg extended as it swung it around at Blaziken.
"Just like the Pokedex said!" Lincoln commented in amazement.
"Blaziken, use Flamethrower!" Timothy called. Blaziken blasted Flamethrower at Hitmonlee.
"Dodge it using Bounce!" Hitmonlee was able to leap high into the air, before careening back down, slamming hard into Blaziken.
"Since Bounce is a Flying Type move, that deal major damage to Blaziken," Brock commented.
"Blaziken, use Flare Blitz!" Timothy called. Blaziken surrounded itself in blue fire, before charging straight into Hitmonlee, sending the Kicking Pokemon down to defeat.
"Hitmonlee is out!" Teddy proclaimed, as Blaziken went back to its corner, sparks flying off.
"Hmm? What was that?" Charlie asked.
"One of the risks of using a move like Flare Blitz. It does recoil damage to the user," Misty replied.
"Alright, my next Pokemon! Go, Kommo-o!" Percy called, sending out what appeared to be a larger form of the Hakamo-o Lincoln faced in the first round, with even larger scales surrounding its arms.
"Whoa, that looks just like Hakamo-o," Lincoln commented, as he scanned it.
"Kommo-o, the Scaly Pokemon, a Dragon and Fighting Type, and the evolved form of Hakamo-o. Ancient cave paintings show warriors wearing Kommo-o's scales like armor. Kommo-o specializes in uppercuts," Dexter explained.
"Kommo-o is going to be a tough opponent. Since it's a Dragon Type, Blaziken's Fire Type moves are only half as effective on it," Brock commented.
"Alright Kommo-o, lets start off with a bang! Let's start off with Iron Defense!" Percy called. Kommo-o's body then turned metallic, increasing its defensive power, "Now, use Body Press!" Kommo-o then leapt high into the air, before crashing down at Blaziken.
"Quick, use Reversal!" Timothy called out. Blaziken attempted to use the move it was told to, but was too slow, as Kommo-o slammed down into it, defeating the Blaze Pokemon.
"And with the added boost from Iron Defense to Body Press, Blaziken is down!" Teddy proclaimed.
"Body Press is a move that gets stronger as the user's defensive power is increased. So using Iron Defense was a smart move on Percy's part," Bruno commented.
"Alright Breloom, you're up now!" Timothy called, sending out Breloom.
"So, who has the edge in this matchup?" Octavia asked.
"Well, Breloom's Grass Type attacks aren't very effective on Dragon Type Pokemon, so it'll probably boil down to their Fighting Type moves," Lincoln replied.
"Alright Breloom, use Sky Uppercut!" Timothy called. Breloom then unleashed Sky Uppercut on Kommo-o.
"Quick, while its in range, use Poison Jab!" Percy called out. Kommo-o shook off the Sky Uppercut, and used Poison Jab, sending Breloom back a few feet.
"Poison Jab is a Poison Type Move, which spells bad news for a Grass Type like Breloom!" Teddy exclaimed.
"True, but take a closer look at both Pokemon," Marshall replied, noting that Breloom looked to have been poisoned, while Kommo-o had fallen to the floor of the ring, fast asleep, "Poison Jab must've poisoned Breloom, while Kommo-o got a taste of Effect Spore."
"Ok, so what's 'Effect Spore'?" Vaggie asked.
"Sometimes when an opponent makes contact, Effect Spore can either Poison, Paralyze, or put a Pokemon to sleep. This might be a chance for Breloom to launch a counter attack while Kommo-o's sleeping," Brock replied.
"Ok Breloom, use Leech Seed!" Timothy called. Breloom fired off a small seed onto Kommo-o, sprouting vines all over, draining the sleeping Kommo-o of its energy, "Alright, now give it a Focus Punch!" Breloom began to gather focus into its fist.
"Kommo-o, wake up! Breloom's going to launch an attack!" Percy called out, but to no avail, as Breloom threw the Focus Punch. Kommo-o was able to wake up finally, just as more of its energy was siphoned off, "We can't risk attacking with Poison Jab again because of Effect Spore, so use Clanging Scales!" Kommo-o began letting off a horrible, clanging scales, causing everyone to cover their ears.
"GAH!? WHAT IS THIS AWFUL SOUND?!" Verosika yelled.
"IT'S MAKING MY EARS RING!" Loona yelled.
"Breloom, dodge, and use Toxic!" Timothy called out. Breloom dodged Clanging Scales, and fired Toxic at Kommo-o, badly poisoning it, "Sweet! Now, give it a Venoshock!" Breloom then fired Venoshock, which was enough to send Kommo-o down to defeat. The bell rang, signaling the end of the round.
"And with Kommo-o down, Timothy will be moving on to the semi-finals!" Teddy proclaimed.
"Alright! Nice work, Breloom!" Timothy praised his exhausted mushroom Pokemon.
"So, there's that guy moving on. Wonder who'll be next?" Misty wondered.
"And now, for our next matchup, we have Jameson from an undisclosed location in Kanto, going up against Gladys from Jubilife City!" Teddy proclaimed, as only Jameson, who was really James in disguise, entered the arena, "Uh, Gladys? Where could she be? If she's not here within the next five minutes, then by default, she'll be disqualified as a no-show."
"That's strange. She showed such prowess in the first round," Gwendolyn commented, as everyone continued to wait, until the five minute time limit was up.
"Well, in accordance with the rules, since she did not show up within the five minute limit, Gladys of Jubilife City is now disqualified! Thus, Jameson will be moving on to the semi-finals automatically!" Teddy proclaimed.
"Oh hum, and here I was looking forward to a real battle. Ah well, what can you do?" James lamented, though his tone indicated he wasn't surprised, 'Looks like Jessie and Meowth pulled through for me,' he thought.
Meanwhile, somewhere else in the venue,
Gladys, along with all the other participants, was tied up with Ariados' String Shot, and gagged after being thrown into a broom closet by Jessie and Meowth, "So good of you to forfeit the match to our boy, James!" Meowth cackled.
"And we greatly appreciate your generous donation of all your personal belongings, including your Pokemon," Jessie added, holding Gladys' bag, along with all the other trainer's bag, before slamming the door shut, "James must've won the next round by default by now. We should get back to him soon."
"Right behind you, Jessie!" Meowth replied, as the two began walking away from the closet, leaving Gladys to cry out muffled pleas for help.
Meanwhile, back in the arena,
"Ladies and gentleman, we apologize for the last matchup being called off, but we now have our third match in the second round, with Misty of Cerulean City battling against Tsubasa from Mistralton City!" Teddy announced, as Misty and her opponent, Tsubasa, a tall, tan skinned man with short, black hair, entered the arena.
"The rules are still the same. Only two Pokemon per trainer, and two knockouts are required to win. Substitutions may be made freely as both trainers see fit. Now then, chose your first Pokemon!" Don George called out.
"Poliwrath, you're up!" Misty said, sending out Poliwrath.
"Throh, I choose you!" Tsubasa called, sending out a red, humanoid Pokemon with a brick hide like body, wearing a martial arts gi. Lincoln scanned it.
"Throh, the Judo Pokemon, a Fighting Type. It performs throwing moves with first rate skill. Wild Throh weave their belts out of vines, and tightens it to increase their strength," Dexter explained, as the bell rang, signaling the start of the round.
"Alright Poliwrath, start off with Water Pulse!" Misty called out. Poliwrath then threw Water Pulse at Throh.
"Protect!" Tsubasa called out. Throh formed Protect around itself, shielding it from Water Pulse, "Now, use Bulk Up!" Throh became more muscular upon using Bulk Up.
"Be careful Poliwrath! Throh just powered up!" Misty warned.
"Now, use Storm Throw!" Tsubasa ordered. Throh grabbed hold of Poliwrath, and threw it across the ring.
"A heavier hit from Storm Throw thanks to Bulk Up!" Teddy proclaimed.
"Storm Throw is a move that always results in a critical hit, making it even more devastating," Don George added.
"Poliwrath, try Earth Power!" Poliwrath struck the ring, causing the ground around Throh to erupt, damaging the Judo Pokemon.
"Alright Throh, use Circle Throw!" Tsubasa called. Throh once again grabbed hold of Poliwrath, and threw it across the ring. But this time, Poliwrath went back to its Pokeball, being replaced with Meditite.
"The added effect of Circle Throw is that is can force the battling opponent Pokemon to switch out for another one on the team. But it might be a moot point given the Meditite is also a Psychic Type," Bruno commented.
"Alright Meditite, lets show them what you're made of! Use Confusion!" Meditite wasted no time in lifting Throh with Confusion, and slamming it onto the mat, "Alright, now use Bullet Punch!"
"Use Superpower and try to overwhelm it!" with an orange aura around it, Throh began close quarters combat with Meditite, who unleashed a barrage of punches too fast to see with the naked eye. Once it was done, Throh was able to use Superpower to send it skidding back. The Meditate Pokemon was still standing, however.
"Alright, give it a Psybeam next!" Misty called. Meditite fired Psybeam, finishing off Throh.
"Throh is out!" Teddy proclaimed.
"Not too shabby, but let's see you deal with this!" Tsubasa said, sending out a large, big like Pokemon with a flaming beard.
"Whoa, that's huge!" Lincoln exclaimed, as he scanned it.
"Emboar, the Mega Fire Pig Pokemon, a Fire and Fighting Type, and the fully evolved form of Tepig. It throws fiery punches by setting its fists on fire with its flaming beard. It cares deeply for its friends," Dexter explained.
"So that's what Tepig evolves into," Lincoln mused.
"The edge is more in Misty's favor, since Emboar is a Fire and Fighting Type," Brock commented.
"Emboar, use Fire Punch!" Tsubasa ordered. Emboar used its beard to ignite its fist, before throwing it at Meditite, who was able to dodge just in time.
"Meditite, use High Jump Kick!" Misty called out. Meditite leapt high into the air, before hurdling knee first at Emboar.
"Dodge it!" Tsubasa called. Emboar did, causing Meditite to crash into the ring, damaging itself in the process.
"Oh, that could not have felt good!" Charlie winced, as did the others.
"And now, use Heat Crash!" Emboar leapt into the air, before slamming back down onto Meditite, sending it down to defeat.
"Meditite is out!" Teddy proclaimed, as Misty recalled her Pokemon.
"Nice work out there, Meditite. Take a long rest," Misty said, as she sent in Poliwrath.
"And Poliwrath is now in the ring! Going by type, Poliwrath has the advantage over Emboar! Marshall, what are your thoughts?" Teddy asked.
"It may be true that a Fire Type like Emboar is weak to Water Attacks, but we can't count it out just yet. As we've seen from many of our challengers, Pokemon can overcome their weaknesses to come out on top," Marshall replied.
"Alright Poliwrath, lets win this fast! Use Water Pulse!" Misty called out. Poliwrath then hurled Water Pulse at Emboar.
"Use Arm Thrust and stop it!" Tsubasa called out. Emboar then used Arm Thrust to push back and destroy Water Pulse, "Alright, now use Wild Charge!" Emboar surrounded itself in electricity, and charged right at Poliwrath.
"Quick, use Mud Bomb!" Misty called. Poliwrath then hurled a large ball of mud right at Emboar, stopping Wild Charge, "Alright, now let's do a Hydro Pump!" Poliwrath fired off Hydro Pump, dealing massive damage to Emboar, who struggled to keep standing.
"Not good! If this keeps up, Emboar will be toast! Use Hammer Arm!" Tsubasa called.
"Meet the attack with Dynamic Punch!" Misty called. Both Pokemon unleashed their respective moves, causing a large explosion, sending Poliwrath skidding back, while Emboar was revealed to have been defeated, causing the bell to ring.
"And Emboar is out! For the second half of the semi-finals, Misty shall be moving on!" Teddy proclaimed.
"Yay, we won!" Misty exclaimed, embracing Poliwrath.
"So if I win my next match, I'll be facing Misty. Haven't done that since Cerulean City," Lincoln commented.
"What's this 'if' talk? That Dylan guy is a poser! You can take him!" Miu encouraged.
"He may talk a big talk, but can he walk the walk?" Vaggie asked.
"Well, only one way to find out," Lincoln replied, as he got up to leave for the ring.
"And now, for the final match of the second round, we've got Lincoln Loud of Royal Woods, Michigan, vs Dylan of Icirrus City!" Teddy announced, as both trainers entered the arena.
"Didn't think you'd make it past the first round!" Dylan snarked.
"I could say the same to you," Lincoln countered.
"Alright you two, you know the rules by now. Choose your first Pokemon!" Don George declared.
"Scrafty, you're up!" Dylan said, sending out Scrafty.
"Mienfoo, you're up!" Lincoln said, sending out Mienfoo. The bell rang, signaling the start of the round, "Let's make the first strike count! Use Arieal Ace!" Mienfoo began the match be using acrobatic moves in striking Scrafty.
"Right away, Lincoln uses Arieal Ace to deal a heavy blow to Scrafty right away!" Teddy announced.
"Areial Ace is a Flying Type move that never misses, so using it right away is a strategic move on Lincoln's part," Don George stated.
"Not bad, but we've got better! Scrafty, use Iron Head!" Dylan called out. Scrafty then rammed into Mienfoo with Iron Head, sending the smaller Pokemon skidding back.
"Now that was a strong move! We can come back from that! Use Force Palm!" Lincoln called out. Mienfoo then got in close to Scrafty, placing her palm on the Hoodlum Pokemon's chest, before blasting it with Force Palm.
"And another super effective move by Mienfoo!" Teddy announced.
"Scrafty may be a Fighting Type, but it also has traits of a Dark Type as well, making Fighting Type Moves used against it all the stronger," Bruno commented.
"Use Drain Punch!" Dylan called out. Scrafty then used Drain Punch, draining some of Mienfoo's energy, "Alright, now return!" Dylan then recalled Scrafty.
"Oh! Dylan's making use of the substitution rule to swap out Scrafty for his other Pokemon!" Teddy announced.
"Go, Toxicroak!" Dylan then sent out Toxicroak.
"I can't stand that thing!" Miu shuddered.
"Come on Lincoln, fight, fight, fight!" Verosika cheered, waving her pom-poms around, "You know, you girls could show some team spirit too, y'know?"
"We know, but… we still feel really embarrassed by these outfits," Charlie replied, trying to pull her skirt over her plump rump.
"Mienfoo, be careful of Toxicroak's poison!" Lincoln warned.
"I'll try to keep that in mind!" Mienfoo replied, taking a defensive stance.
"Toxicroak, start off with a Cross Chop!" Toxicroak was first to attack, by attacking with a Cross Chop, sending Mienfoo back a few feet.
"Use Arieal Ace! At least that way, we can start whittling down its stamina!" Lincoln called out. Mienfoo then began unleashing Arieal Ace, which was able to deal sizeable damage to Toxicroak.
"Use Poison Jab!" using the red spike on its hand, Toxicroak jabbed Mienfoo in the gut, sending her flying back into Lincoln's arms, knocked out.
"And Mienfoo is down!" Teddy announced.
"All the damage it took from Scrafty must've been more than Mienfoo could handle," Don George commented, as Lincoln recalled Mienfoo.
"Don't worry, Mienfoo. Your hard work won't go to waste," Lincoln said, before clutching Riolu's Pokeball, "It's all on you Riolu!" he said, sending out Riolu.
"ALRIGHT! I get to face two heavy duty opponents now!" Riolu, needless to say, was raring to go.
"And the two you're up against this time are pretty strong too. Keep your guard up!" Lincoln called out.
"Heh, this won't even be a challenge for me! Toxicroak, use Sludge Bomb!" Dylan called. Toxicroak then fired off a Sludge Bomb.
"Quick, use Double Team and dodge!" Lincoln called out. Riolu began using Double Team, narrowly avoiding Sludge Bomb, "Alright, now hit Toxicroak with Zen Headbutt!" Riolu then slammed into Toxicroak from the side with its head emitting a strange energy. Toxicroak was able to keep standing, however.
"Cocky bastard! Toxicroak, use Brick Break!" Toxicroak went to slam Riolu with a powerful chop.
"Counter that!" Lincoln called. Riolu began using Counter, but was struggling against Toxicroak's power, "No way, is his Pokemon really that high level?!" he exclaimed.
"Come on Lincoln, come on Riolu! Show them your might, and make it right!" Verosika cheered, as she managed to get the others to cheer as well, albeit a little more reserved than her.
"Riolu, I know you can take Toxicroak! We've been training hard to make you stronger and stronger! And the best way is to overcome opponents that are stronger than yourself! Don't ever give in, no matter what!" Lincoln called to Riolu. Something inside Riolu resonated with Lincoln's determination, causing the Emanation Pokemon to erupt in a bright light, throwing Toxicroak off of it.
"That light!" Marshall exclaimed.
"Could it be…?!" Misty exclaimed.
"You're right! Riolu is evolving!" Brock replied. Riolu began to grow taller, with its two feelers splitting into two, and spiked growing from its chest, forehands, and feet. When the light died off, Riolu had changed into a taller version itself, with a darker blue hue to it.
"Lucario has been registered to your Pokedex," Dexter informed.
"Awesome! You've evolved right when we needed it!" Lincoln exclaimed, as he scanned his newly evolved Pokemon.
"Lucario, the Aura Pokemon, a Fighting and Steel Type, and the evolved form of Riolu. By sensing the aura of the living things around it, it can read thoughts and emotions. Only a trainer with justice in their heart can earn this Pokemon's trust. Furthermore, upon evolving, Lucario has learned a total of three new moves," Dexter explained.
"Evolution AND some new moves?! Talk about incredible!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"Grr, it doesn't matter! That Lucario is still going down! Toxicroak, use Sludge Bomb!" Dylan called. Toxicroak then fired Sludge Bomb at Lucario.
"Not a smart move against Lucario… Use Bone Rush!" Lucario formed a bone in its hands, and charged straight at Toxicroak.
"He's sending Lucario right into that Sludge Bomb?!" Octavia exclaimed, only to see the Sludge Bomb bouncing off of Lucario upon impact.
"Poison Type moves have no effect on a Steel Type like Lucario!" Teddy stated.
"Crap, I forgot!" Dylan exclaimed, as Lucario began smacking Lucario around with the bone in its hands, eventually sending it down to defeat.
"And with its newly evolved power, Lucario has managed to defeat Toxicroak!" Teddy proclaimed.
"That evolution of its must've given it the morale and power boost it needed to come out on top," Bruno commented.
"Scrafty, lets finish these chumps off!" Dylan then sent in Scrafty, "Use Drain Punch!" Scrafty then charged at Lucario.
"Time for another one of your new moves, Lucario! Meteor Mash!" Lincoln instructed. Lucario's fist became enveloped in a bright, white energy, as it swung it hard at Scrafty's Drain Punch, causing an explosion that sent both Pokemon skidding back.
"Tsk, these two are more trouble than their worth! Scrafty, use High Jump Kick!" Dylan ordered. Scrafty leapt high, and hurdled straight at Lucario knee-first.
"Lets finish this off with a bang, Lucario! Use Aura Sphere!" Lincoln instructed. Lucario formed a ball of blue energy in its hand, before hurling it at Scrafty, stopping it from using High Jump Kick, and sending it down to defeat. The bell rang, signaling the end of the round.
"And that's it! The fourth trainer moving on to the semi-finals will be Lincoln Loud!" Teddy announced, as the audience cheered.
"Now hold on! That can't be a legit win, can it?! Evolving should be against the rules in a match like this!" Dylan complained.
"There are no rules against Pokemon evolving during battle. Lincoln was technically using the same two Pokemon he entered with," Bruno replied.
"But this can't be fair!" Dylan exclaimed, turning to Marshall, "Master, surely you must see something wrong in this, right?"
"I'm with Bruno on this one, Dylan. Lincoln did not break any rules. He battled fair and square during the battle, and won," Marshall replied. Dylan recalled Scrafty, and left in annoyance.
"And with that, we reach the end of the second round! Once more, we'll have a fifteen-minute intermission while everyone takes some time to prep for the semi-finals," Teddy said.
At the healing center of the venue,
"So that was evolution?" Charlie asked, as Lincoln was getting his Pokemon treated from their hard-fought battle.
"That's right. Its pretty cool when it happens. Not only that, but some Pokemon can learn moves they can't learn in previous stages," Lincoln replied.
"So, do your Pokemon still stay the same on the inside, or do their personalities change as well?" Milt asked.
"Oh, absolutely. Pokemon change in terms of personality just the same as their human partners. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse," Brock replied.
"It really all depends on the Pokemon itself, as well as the bond it has with its trainer," Misty added. Just then, the staffer in charge of the healing center came back with Lincoln's Pokeballs.
"I'm happy to report that both Mienfoo and Lucario are in tiptop shape," the staffer said, as Lincoln took his Pokeballs back.
"Thanks so much," Lincoln replied, as he released both of them, "How are you both feeling?"
"Honestly, I feel disgraced with how I performed out there," Mienfoo replied in shame.
"Hey, don't worry about it. We just need to train up some more, and then you'll be able to take on more stronger opponents," Lincoln reassured Mienfoo, before looking at Lucario, "And what about you? How you adjusting to your new form?"
"I feel much stronger, and my ability to sense auras and emotions around me is stronger than ever," Lucario replied in a calmer tone compare to when it was a Riolu.
"Well, I'm glad you're adjusting well," Lincoln replied. Just then, Lucario sensed something, before running off, "Huh? Lucario, where are you going?!" he called, as he gave chase, followed by the others.
"What's going on?" Vaggie asked.
"Lucario is able to sense the aura of those around it. It must be sensing something is off," Brock replied.
"Really? That's pretty handy," Loona admitted, as the rounded a corner, where the saw Lucario standing in front of a closet door.
"Something wrong with this door, Lucario?" Lincoln asked, as Lucario kicked it open, revealing all the other competitors, including Timothy and Dylan, "What the…?!"
"Who could've done something so awful?" Charlie questioned, as she and the others helped tear off the threads binding them.
"Who did this to you guys?" Lincoln asked, as Verosika and Charlie used their claw like nails to cut the threads.
"It was some broad with long red hair and a talking Meowth! They said they were trying to eliminate the competition before the matches with their inside competitor began," Tsubasa replied.
"And even worse, they stole all of our belongings, including our Pokemon!" Gladys added.
"A talking Meowth?" Brock parroted.
"IT WAS THOSE THREE!" Lincoln, Brock, and Misty exclaimed.
"I thought that Jameson guy looked familiar. In the last round, his tone didn't sound all the convincing," Lincoln commented, only for the door to slam shut, "What?! NO!" Lincoln exclaimed as he rushed over, trying to open the door, only to find the handle was freezing cold.
"So, you figured it out, huh? Too bad it won't help you! And excellent work, Smoochum dear!" Jessie's voice was heard from the other side.
"Let us out of here!" Dylan yelled, slamming on the door.
"We might let you out AFTER James wins the whole shebang by default!" Meowth replied in a taunting tone, as it sounded like they were walking away.
"Damn it! Those guys are more trouble than they're worth!" Lincoln cursed, kicking the door, attempting to break it down.
"Who were they?" Gwendolyn asked.
"Former members of Team Rocket. They became their own independent criminals after they got kicked out," Brock replied.
"They might not be very smart, but they're still dangerous," Misty added.
"The fact they sealed us in here makes that kind of obvious," Loona commented.
"Well, we need to get out of here and tell Bruno and Marshall! They'll know what to do!" Gladys commented.
"Already on that," Lincoln replied, as Lucario stood before the door, "Alright, Lucario, use Meteor Mash!" Lucario then unleashed Meteor Mash on the door, breaking it clean off the hinges, enabling them all to escape.
"Nicely done!" Teri commented.
"Though I think the venue owners might be a bit sore about the damages to the door," Charlie commented, looking at the large hole that was made.
"Once we explain things to them, I'm sure they'll understand. For now, we got to tell Bruno and the others," Lincoln said, as they all left the closet door.
Meanwhile, with Jessie, James, and Meowth, in a secluded spot inside the venue,
"Haha! We're making off like regular bandits with a haul like this!" Meowth exclaimed, going through all the stolen bags.
"We can keep some of the more useful stuff, and sell the rest of the junk we find," Jessie added.
"Not only that, but we've managed to bolster our ranks with all the stolen Pokemon as well!" James cackled, using his handheld device to scan each Pokeball for the contents.
"Now all we have to do is wait out the next round, and you'll win by default, James," Jessie commented.
"Yes, this is by far the easiest way we've ever managed to cheat to win! And imprisoning that white haired brat and his friends in the closet with the others is a bonus too!" James laughed.
"Yeah. Too bad we didn't get to steal any of their Pokemon, but what are you gonna do?" Meowth shrugged.
"We can tell you!" the three crooks looked up from their hiding spot to see that Lincoln and the others were standing before them, looking quite angry, "You can hand over ALL of the stuff you stole!"
"No way! How did you find us?! On that note, how did you break out?!" Jessie exclaimed.
"A little help from Lucario, for starters," Lincoln replied.
"Well, we're not giving up any of our loot! And we'll gladly battle to protect it!" James countered, holding his six Pokeballs. Jessie was holding hers as well.
"Time for a team attack!" Jessie yelled, as she and James tossed all twelve of their Pokeballs. From Jessie's Pokeballs, she sent out Arbok, Ariados, Wobuffett, Smoochum, Barboach and Fomantis, while James sent out Koffing, Gurdurr, Clobbopus, along with a small, green larva like Pokemon with a long horn on the top of its head, a blue, humanoid Pokemon with brick-hide like skin, and a karate gi, and a large, red gorilla like Pokemon with flaming eyebrows.
"I never got a chance to scan the Pokemon you two got on the St. Anne, but let's have a look at what you got," Lincoln said, as he scanned their Pokemon.
"Barboach, the Whiskers Pokemon, a Water and Ground Type. Its slimy body is hard to grasp. In one region, it is said to have been born from hardened mud.
Fomantis, the Sickle Grass Pokemon, a Grass Type, During the day, Fomantis basks in sunlight and sleeps peacefully. It wakes and moves around at night.
Larvitar, the Rock Skin Pokemon, a Rock and Ground Type. Born deep underground, it comes aboveground and becomes a pupa once it has finished eating the surrounding soil.
Sawk, the Karate Pokemon, a Fighting Type. If you see a Sawk training in the mountains in its single-minded pursuit of strength, it's best to quietly pass by. The karate chops of a Sawk that's trained itself to the limit can cleave the ocean itself.
Clobbopus, the Tantrum Pokemon, a Fighting Type. It's very curious, but its means of investigating things is to try to punch them with its tentacles. The search for food is what brings it onto land. It's about as smart as a three-year-old.
Darmanitan, the Blazing Pokemon, a Fire Type and the evolved form of Darumaka. The thick arms of this hot blooded Pokemon can deliver punches capable of obliterating a dump truck. This Pokemon's power level rises along with the temperature of its fire, which can reach 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit," Dexter explained.
"Did that say it can cleave an entire ocean?!" Miu exclaimed.
"What about delivering punches that can destroy a dump truck?!" Octavia questioned.
"They look tough! Get ready, you guys!" Brock said, as he, Lincoln and Misty readied themselves for battle, when…
"HOLD IT!" Bruno and Marshall leapt down between both groups, "I've heard about you three. You used to be part of Team Rocket, didn't you?"
"That's right, but after getting the boot, we decided to become our own criminals! And we even managed to come up with a new motto!" Jessie proclaimed.
"Oh boy, here comes the cringe!" Lincoln shuddered.
"There's no need to worry. We have no intention of letting them stay here any longer! Machamp, use Hyper Beam!" Bruno said, sending out Machamp.
"Hyper Beam as well, Conkeldurr!" Marshall sent out Conkeldurr as well. Both Pokemon fired off orange beams of energy at the trio, causing an explosion that sent them and their Pokemon flying out of the venue.
"Aw, this isn't fair! We didn't get a chance to fight back, or even say our new motto!" Jessie whined.
"We'll just have to wait until next time," James replied.
"So, until we do," Meowth added.
"WE'LL BE ROCKETING BACK SOON!" the three called out, as they disappeared into the sky. Back in the venue, Bruno and Marshall returned all the stolen loot to its rightful owners.
"Here's all of the stuff they stole," Bruno said, distributing the stolen loot.
"And here's everyone's Pokeballs," Lincoln said, collecting a burlap sack filled with Pokeballs. Once everyone got their bags back, they began collecting their Pokeballs.
"I think that's all of them," Timothy said, as he took the last of his Pokeballs.
"Gladys, we can understand that you only missed your match in the second round because those guys cheated, but unfortunately, you had to be disqualified due to the rules. If it's any consolation, you can take this Black Belt for your Pokemon," Bruno said, handing Gladys a Black Belt.
"As annoying as it is to be disqualified just because of those three, I understand the rules. But thanks anyway for the Black Belt," Gladys replied, accepting her consolation prize.
"You're most welcome," Bruno said, before turning to Timothy, "And as for you, Timothy, since your next round opponent has been disqualified, you'll be moved up to the finals automatically."
"Ye sir, Bruno," Timothy replied.
"In any case, the intermission should be drawing to an end in a few short minutes. Everyone should make use of the remaining time while they can," Marshall advised, before they all dispersed.
"We should probably get back to the arena. If Timothy got bumped into the finals, then the next match will be me against you, Misty," Lincoln said.
"That's right. And I won't be giving up this chance to avenge my original loss to you in Cerulean City," Misty replied.
"We'll just see about that," Lincoln replied as they all returned to the arena.
A few minutes later,
"Ladies and gentlemen, during the intermission, we were informed of some wrong doings, which resulted in the disqualification of Jameson in the first round of the semi-finals. Thus, Timothy is automatically moved up into the finals. And now, we'll see who he'll be facing, as Lincoln Loud takes on Misty Waterlily!" Teddy announced.
"The rules are the same, as is the game. Now then, trainers, your first Pokemon!" Don George called out.
"Poliwrath, you're up!" Misty called, sending out Poliwrath.
"Go Lucario!" Lincoln called, sending in Lucario.
"Alright, Lincoln, show them what for!" Verosika cheered.
"So, who do you think has the edge?" Milt asked.
"I'd say Misty has a slight advantage over Lincoln," Brock replied.
"Care to elaborate?" Octavia asked.
"See, Lucario is a Fighting and Steel Type, and Steel Type Pokemon are weak against Fighting Type moves, such as Brick Break and Focus Punch, and both Poliwrath and Meditite both know some good Fighting Type attacks. On that note, Mienfoo is weak to the Psychic Type moves Meditite can use," Brock explained.
"Well, just as we've been seeing, type matchups don't always matter, so it can still be anyone's match," Miu pointed out. The bell rang, signaling the start of the round.
"Alright Lucario, lets get in a powerful hit right away! Use Thunder Punch!" Lincoln called. Lucario then charged at Poliwrath, it's fist cloaked in electricity.
"I thought he'd try a direct approach right away. Poliwrath, use Mud Bomb!" Misty instructed. Poliwrath then hurled a Mud Bomb at Lucario, sending it back, and cancelling out Thunder Punch.
"Alright, looks like we can't do a direct attack, so let's try a ranged one! Use Aura Sphere!" Lucario then fired off Aura Sphere, which homed in on Poliwrath.
"Quick, use Earth Power!" Poliwrath struck the ring, causing it to open up around Lucario's feet, causing an explosion. However, Poliwrath was unable to stop Aura Sphere, and got hit, but was able to keep standing. The same could not be said for Lucario, however.
"It's an early take down already!" Teddy proclaimed.
"Lucario took additional damage from the combined forces of both Mud Bomb and Earth Power, two exceptionally powerful Ground Type moves," Don George stated.
"Not bad, Misty! You've gotten a lot better since Cerulean City," Lincoln commented, recalling Lucario.
"I don't ever slack off on my training, I'll have you know. I like keeping my Pokemon in tiptop shape," Misty replied.
"Well, we're still in this competition! Go, Mienfoo!" Lincoln then sent in Mienfoo.
"C'mon girls, we need to cheer him on!" Verosika urged. The rest of the girls, albeit reluctantly with how skimpy their outfits were, agreed with the succubus.
"GO, GO LINCOLN! FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! MIENFOO, DO IT RIGHT!" they cheered.
"Well, at least we've got them backing us up," Mienfoo commented.
"Poliwrath, use Belly Drum!" Misty instructed. Poliwrath began smacking its belly as if it were a drum.
"Oh, looks like Misty's going all out with just her first Pokemon. Belly Drum maxes out the user's Attack Power, but the one tradeoff is that it reduces the user's stamina by half," Bruno commented.
"Mienfoo, lets take advantage of that, and use Arieal Ace!" Lincoln instructed. Mienfoo charged right at Poliwrath, striking it with Arieal Ace, dealing a lot of damage.
"Hang in there, Poliwrath! Use Brick Break!" Poliwrath went to use Brick Break, when…
"Protect!" Mienfoo formed Protect, blocking Brick Break, "Alright, now use Swift!" Mienfoo then fired off Swift, which was able to deal the final blow to Poliwrath, as it collapsed from the accumulated damage.
"And Poliwrath is out!" Teddy announced. Misty recalled Poliwrath.
"You did better than great out there, Poliwrath. Just leave the rest to us," Misty said, as she got out Meditite's Pokeball next, "Go, Meditite!" she exclaimed, sending in the Meditate Pokemon.
"Both trainers are down to their final Pokemon! So, would any of you like to give your thoughts on the match?" Teddy asked his co-announcers.
"Going by Type, since Meditite has qualities of a Psychic Type in addition to being a Fighting Type, Mienfoo will have a tough battle ahead of it," Don George replied.
"But Mienfoo has Arieal Ace, so it does have some leverage over Meditite," Bruno added.
"Alright, lets win this fast! Use Arieal Ace!" Lincoln called out. Mienfoo then sped right at Mienfoo.
"Confusion!" Meditite then used Confusion to stop Mienfoo, and sent it back across the ring. Upon standing, Mienfoo began smacking itself.
"Oh, tough break for Mienfoo! Confusion's secondary effect can inflict confusion status, causing the afflicted Pokemon to attack itself!" Teddy called out.
"Mienfoo, try to snap out of it! Use Hone Claws!" Lincoln called out, but to no avail, as Mienfoo was still smashing her body against the ring.
"And checkmate! Meditite, use Psybeam!" Misty instructed. Meditite then blasted Mienfoo with Psybeam, sending the Martial Arts Pokemon down to defeat. The bell rang, signaling the end of the round.
"And that's it! Moving on to the final round will be Misty of Cerulean City!" Teddy announced.
"Alright, we won! Great work, Meditite!" Misty praised, just as a bright light erupted from Meditite, "And you're evolving now too! This is the best thing ever!" Meditite grew much taller, its legs grew in size to resemble belly dancer pants, and its head grew three bulbous growths. When the light died off, Meditite had evolved into a white bodied Pokemon with a reddish pink trim.
"Whoa, who's that Pokemon?" Lincoln wondered, as he scanned the new Pokemon, while also cradling Mienfoo.
"Medicham, the Meditate Pokemon, a Psychic and Fighting Type. Through yoga training, it has honed its sixth sense. Though daily meditation, it hones its spiritual powers. It can sense what others are thinking, and has elegant movements," Dexter explained.
"Alright! Let's keep at it, Medicham!" Misty exclaimed, embracing her newly evolved Pokemon.
"Aw, too bad, Lincoln. And you were doing so well too," Verosika said.
"Well, I'm not too broken up about it. After all, not only did I manage to beat that Dylan guy, but Lucario evolving was plenty for me," Lincoln replied.
"When you put it that way, you did have quite a fulfilling time participating," Charlie added.
"Yep. Well, all we can do now is hope that Misty will be able to take on Timothy in the finals," Lincoln commented.
"We're going to be giving Misty a ten-minute break to go get her Pokemon healed up for the final match!" Teddy announced. With that, both Lincoln and Misty left the arena to go take care of their Pokemon.
Meanwhile, back at Fountain Heights Psychiatric Sanitorium *thunder and lightning*
Lynn was gasping for air, as she was pulled back up from a pool of freezing water for the fifth time, "Now then, are you ready to talk?" the doctor asked wickedly.
"I…. I… Alright… fine… just… let me catch… my breath first," Lynn replied, as she tried to catch her breath. Once she had her breath back, she looked towards the doctor, "Alright, what do you want to know?"
"First off, I'd like for you to think back to when this whole obsession with luck first came about. Why are you so convinced that doing things a specific way will ensure your next win?" the doctor asked. Lynn knew she couldn't give the doctor her usual "because it does guarantee victory" excuse, as he wouldn't accept it. So, she really had to think back hard.
"Well, I think it all started back when I was first starting out as an athlete. It was a friendly game of softball in gym class at my old elementary school. When it was my turn, I was never able to make contact with any of the balls that were thrown my way. That was, until I discovered one of my first luck rituals: throwing dirt clods over my shoulder. Truth be told, I kind of discovered it by accident, since I thought I saw a quarter in the dirt, only to find it was a rock. After I threw the clod over my shoulder, I was able to start hitting every ball that was thrown my way. I didn't think much of it at first, but when we played softball again, I had a repeat of thinking a rock was a quarter, and threw that clod over my shoulder again, and just like last time, I was able to start hitting every ball. The third time around, I just threw the clod over my shoulder, and I guess that was when I first became obsessed with luck," Lynn explained. The doctor nodded, jotting this down on a form.
"Hmm, I see. So, as time progressed, and you became more athletic, you picked up more and more rituals?" he asked.
"That's right. Rotating my hat 360 degrees, not going to the bathroom before an important game, I even took up Cossack dancing as well. See, my theory was that doing multiple rituals on top of one another would help amp up my luck by a huge margin. And I've been winning games for me and my team ever since," Lynn explained. Again, the doctor nodded, making notes of this information.
"I see. And you did these rituals for every game?"
"That's right. I couldn't bear to let my team down. That, and I also didn't want to look weak in front of the competition. After all, playing nice doesn't win games," Lynn replied. The doctor nodded once more.
"And when you suffered your first softball loss at the hands of the Lions, you immediately blamed your brother, claiming that since it was the first game he attended in the entire season, he was the leading factor in the loss that day, true?"
"That was my initial belief. After all, my team had been dominating the league all season for every game that brother of mine wasn't there, but the first game he DID attend resulted in a loss. Though it wasn't until a few days ago that I learned that my team's loss against the Lions wasn't even legit, since they got caught cheating," Lynn explained.
"Hmm, I see. According to the documents we received from the court, that same morning, you allegedly threatened your brother with a bat, yes?"
"W-Well it was just because I wanted him to come and support me for the first time that season! And all he wanted to do was read his nerdy comics!" Lynn grumbled.
"Well, did you stop to think that maybe he wanted to read his comics because he wanted a break from supporting you and the rest of your sisters?"
"He did mention something about supporting six other sisters during my season. But it's the law of our house that we support each other no matter what!" Lynn replied.
"I can understand that. However, even you must've been wanting some free time yourself at some point, did you not?" the doctor's question actually made something click inside of Lynn. Sure, she knew that supporting everyone's activities was important, but she would've liked to have some free time to herself to watch some sports games on TV, or practice dunking some baskets. She then began to realize that Lincoln's comics and video games was to him as sports was to her.
"I-I didn't realize that," Lynn shakily admitted. The doctor smiled warmly.
"Looks like we're making progress, miss Loud. And who knows? If you and your sister keep this up, you might be eligible to get an early release once I notify the court," the doctor replied, only to realize that Lynn wasn't paying attention to him. She looked like she was in some kind of a trance, "Hmm, guess the revelation must've impacted her more than I realized."
Meanwhile, back at the P-1 Grand Prix Venue,
"Alright Poliwrath, one last push! Use Hydro Pump!" Misty called out. Poliwrath then fired Hydro Pump right at Blaziken, sending the Blaze Pokemon down to defeat. The bell rang, signaling the end of the match.
"It's all over! The winner of the P-1 Grand Prix Double division is Misty of Cerulean City!" Teddy proclaimed, as everyone there applauded her.
"Yay! We won Poliwrath! You and Medicham were great out there!" Misty exclaimed, embracing the Tadpole Pokemon.
"It is annoying that I lost, but I won't lose next time!" Timothy confidently said, recalling Blaziken.
"Sounds good. I look forward to a rematch," Misty replied, as Bruno approached her with a champion's belt and a sash with a flame pattern on it.
"You performed admirably out there, Misty. Make certain that you keep what you've learned in mind as you continue your training," he said.
"I will, Bruno. Thank you," Misty replied.
"Hmm, good. And now, in addition to the champion's belt, I also present you with the other prize for your victory, the Focus Sash!" he said, handing over both items. Misty let out Medicham, and had it and Poliwrath hold up the belt, while she held up the Focus Sash, as the audience applauded her once again.
Later, outside the venue,
"Congratulations on your win, Misty," Lincoln said.
"Thanks. All that training at the Battle Chateau really paid off," Misty replied.
"So, where are you all off to now?" Charlie asked.
"We're continuing our journey to Celadon City. That's where the next Gym is at," Lincoln replied.
"Is that right? Well, how about calling some of us for a date while you're there?" Verosika asked flirtatiously.
"Cool your jets there, Verosika," Milt said.
"Actually, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. From what I've heard, Celadon City is one of the two largest cities in the Kanto Region, alongside Saffron City," Lincoln replied, which surprised his fiancés.
"So, you're really going to call me for the next date?!" Verosika asked giddily.
"Yes, I'll call you, and two of the others as well," Lincoln replied. Verosika pouted, as she wanted Lincoln for herself, "So, how did you girls enjoy this division of the P-1 Grand Prix?"
"There was defiantly a lot of power going around in that tournament, for sure," Loona replied.
"I liked seeing the different fighting styles the Pokemon all had," Miu added.
"Like that top one that Lincoln fought in the first round," Vaggie chimed in.
"Well, lots of Pokemon, from what I've seen, have their own unique battling styles. I guess that applies especially well to Fighting Types," Lincoln replied.
"That is true, with how many different styles of fighting there are in the world. Well, in any case, we should get back home. I'm sure our parents would love to hear about the tournament," Charlie said.
"I understand," Lincoln said, as he used his amulet to open the portal back to the Monster Realm, "Well, I guess we'll see you all later then," he said.
"I'm looking forward to our date, Linkey," Verosika said, as she sashayed her way through the portal, along with the others. Once Milt was through, Lincoln closed the portal.
"So, apart from Verosika, who else are you going to invite in Celadon City?" Misty mused.
"Hmm, that's a good question. Maybe Milt, since she can help keep Verosika from going too crazy, and I think maybe Octavia," Lincoln replied.
"Well, its already afternoon now. Do we want to start heading out now, and hope we can make it to the next town before sundown?" Brock asked.
"Well, that depends, what's our next stop to Celadon City, and how long would it take us to get there?" Lincoln asked.
"According to the map, once we exit the Underground Path connecting Lavender Town to Celadon City, the only town we'd have to stop in is Gringey City for the night. After that, we have a day's walk through some plains and a valley," Brock replied, examining the map.
"Well, I say let's try to make it through the Underground Path," Lincoln voted.
"Sounds good to me," Misty added.
"Then its decided," Brock added, closing up the map. And with that, the three of them continued walking with their next destination in mind; Gringey City.
