So during this chapter, this takes place during the battle at the Tree of Life.
This was co-written with Super Sayian 3 Odd.
And here, tensions escalate to dangerous proportions.
Read well…
The Cloudslayer flew across the sky towards a mountainside before it landed at the base.
Inside the plane was Della at the controls, Launchpad as her co-pilot, and Della, Scrooge, Beakley, Webby, Lena, Violet, April, May, June, Huey, Dewey, and a reluctant Louie in the back.
"So where are we going exactly?" June asked.
"Legend has it that there's a load of gold here in the Mountains of Marvelglade." said Scrooge, walking up to the cockpit. "Lost to time for 175 years."
"Oh, so in your case, a small time before you were born." snickered Lena.
Scrooge rolled his eyes. "Yes, thank you." he muttered before clearing his throat. "According to the research books, in the 19th century, a group of thieves stole a load of gold from the kings of England and hid it. And we may just find the whole loot today!"
Della, Dewey, Webby, April, May, and Launchpad cheered.
"So remind me why we're doing this adventure again?" asked Violet.
"Uncle Scrooge wanted to celebrate regaining his title as the Richest Duck in the World." said Huey before pausing. "Also the one with most humility… mostly."
"Besides, we haven't been on an adventure since Monstropolis." said Dewey. "I could use some more excitement!"
"Me too!" said Webby. "Why should Uncle Donald and Aunt Daisy have all the fun while they're away?!"
Della came up to the kids. "Just think kids! Danger at every turn, mysteries and puzzles to solve, treasure to find! It's gonna be a blast! Am I right?!" she asked.
"You bet, Mom!" said Dewey.
"We can't wait!" said Huey.
Della ran off to join the adults while the kids noticed Louie sulking in the corner.
"What's with Greenie?" asked Lena. "I know he's not one for adventure, but he seems to be a bit more… distant right now."
"I concur with our magical friend." said Violet. "It would appear as though Llewellyn has been more silent and unenthusiastic than usual. Strangely, it's more so around you… and especially Della."
Huey, Dewey, and Webby grimaced.
"Well… Mom and Louie kinda had a falling out." Huey admitted. "Although Louie has been taking it the hardest."
The girls were surprised.
"Really? What did they fight about?" asked Lena.
"Yeah, what could be so bad that Louie's refusing to speak to his own mom?" asked May.
"It's… complicated…" Webby admitted.
"We've got time until we reach the cave." June stated.
Huey, Dewey and Webby exchanged nervous looks before looking back to their friends.
"We should probably explain this somewhere else." said Huey.
At the bottom level of the Cloudslayer where the kids were out of Louie and the adults' ear shot, Huey, Dewey and Webby explained everything to Lena, Violet, April, May and June. Louie's scheme with the Timetub, the events of the Timephoon, Della grounding Louie, him being literally imprisoned in his room while they were at Big Rock Candy Mountain, Della's prison-like restrictions, Clan Glomgold attacking the mansion and Louie's brutal beating, their own brutal beating at the Bin, Louie almost getting killed by Magica, Louie lashing out his family after barely surviving and finally, Louie disowning Della as his mother and Huey and Dewey as his brothers.
The girls had their beaks agape in sheer shock and horror. They don't know which was worse, Louie disowning his mother and brother or how horribly Della handled punishing Louie.
"Wait! So let me get this straight! That crazy Timephoon that happened a while ago was caused by Louie from using Gyro's Timetub for another one of his business schemes!?" May asked.
"And Della grounded him and permanently shut down Louie Incorporated?!" April added.
"Yeah." Dewey answered, looking down.
"And then you guys went off on an adventure that Louie would've actually liked and left him alone in the mansion where Della put in restrictions that basically made Louie feel like he was in prison!?" June asked while shouting.
"And as a result of her restrictions, Louie was left defenseless again Glomgold, Magica and all of Scrooge's enemies?" Violet asked.
"Yeah." answered Webby, equally disheartened.
"And because of that he was tortured by Magica and almost got killed?! He almost DIED!?" Lena shouted.
"Yeah." Huey sadly answered.
The girls were horrified, especially Lena and Violet who now fully understood the footage of Scrooge's enemies in the mansion and how Louie ended up underwater on the brink of death.
"Whoa…" was all May could say.
"You guys' left Louie all alone! Are you CRAZY!?" shouted June, showing emotion in her voice that made Huey, Dewey and Webby recoil. "How could you leave Louie all alone like that! And why didn't you guys try to defend him!?"
"We wanted to, but we didn't know what to say? Mom was really angry that night." Huey tried to explain. "I've never seen her so mad. It really scared us."
"And even after grounding him she was still mad." said Dewey. "We were afraid if we tried to say anything we'd make things worse. And with how mad Mom was, we didn't want her getting mad at us to. We didn't want to lose her love. If we knew our mom would take it this far with grounding Louie, we would've said something from the beginning."
"And when I saw Della and Louie arguing, it reminded me of what happened last year between all of us in the Cloudslayer. When I opened my mouth, I made things worse, and I could only watch helplessly as our entire family got torn apart. I… I don't wanna go through that again!" Webby cried out, near tears.
Lena, Violet and the Duck Girls exchanged looks of pity and understanding before looking back to their friends.
"Ok, fair enough." said June.
"But how could Della do something so horrible to Louie!?" Lena shouted. "I mean, okay, sure, Louie almost destroyed the time stream, so I guess it makes sense for him to be punished. But shutting down his dream business and leaving him alone in the mansion with nothing to keep him busy or defend himself!? Shouldn't Della have realized that her actions have almost caused her own son to be on the brink of death? And how dare she take that friendship bracelet I made for him and cut off our phone connection! It's no wonder why I wasn't able to contact Louie!"
"Yeah! Not to mention she treated Louie like a prisoner!" May agreed, equally angry.
"I think we can all agree when we say that Della took things WAY too far!" said April with narrowed eyes.
"As much as I respect Ms. Duck, after the brutal experience that Louie had just gone through, his hatred towards her is understandable, and if I'm being honest, somewhat justified." Violet admitted.
"Preach! I mean, Aunt Daisy's grounded us a couple of times, but she'd never go that far with us. Not in her life! No matter what we did." shouted June.
Lena begins stomping towards the ladder.
"Lena, what are you doing?!" Huey asked, worried.
"What does it look like I'm doing!? I'm gonna give that lady a piece of my mind!" Lena answered as she stomped towards the ladder.
Huey, Dewey, Webby, Violet, April, May and June quickly jump onto Lena, holding her back.
"Lena, no!" Webby shouted.
"Don't do it!" Dewey begged.
"Hey, let me go!" Lena shouted.
"Lena, I know you're upset, but we can't start another argument!" April reasoned.
"Let's not make things worse!" May added.
When they release Lena, she stops walking but gives Louie a look of sympathy.
"But I can't stand seeing Louie like this. I should've been there for him." Lena lamented.
"Lena, you were there for him. You and Violet saved him with your magic. He wouldn't be here if it weren't for you." Webby assured.
June placed a hand on Lena's shoulder.
"Look Lena, I'm just as ticked off with what Della did. But they're right. If we get involved now, we'll just cause another huge argument. And that'll stress Louie out more than he already is." June explained.
Lena looked down in reluctance. "I guess you're right."
"It might be best if we speak to Louie about this after returning home so we can figure out the best way to approach this situation. For now, we should refrain from bringing this up for the time being." Violet suggested, earning nods from the rest. "Still, while Louie has a right to be angry with Della for her actions, one would expect his anger would've died down by now. But from the looks of things, it hasn't."
Everyone then each looked towards Louie by peaking from the top of the ladder, who was still sullen as he sat down on a seat, playing on his phone.
"Now that you mention, you're right. If anything, Louie's even angrier than he was at the end of Scrooge's bet with Glomgold. I can't help but feel like there's something more to this than just being grounded and missing out on Big Rock Candy Mountain." said Huey. "But I can't put my cap on it…"
"Maybe Louie will tell us when he's ready." suggested April.
After the kids nodded in agreement, they climbed back up the ladder to regroup with the others. Shortly after that, Launchpad landed the plane. And by land, he actually skidded the plane in a circle until there was a drawing of a wriggly donut in the ground.
"Okay, we're here!" he called.
Everyone stumbled out of the back.
"And this is why I drive…" Della mumbled.
They soon circled around the mountain until they found the cave entrance.
"Ah ha! Here we go! Lights on everyone!" Scrooge said.
Huey, April, and Webby turned on flashlights and Beakley and Scrooge turned on lanterns. They slowly made their way into the mountain cave entrance.
It was dark and spooky. Cobwebs coated the cave walls. The lights barely helped tone down the eerie atmosphere.
"Boy this is spookier than Magica's choice in outfits." Lena said.
"How long you think this place has been abandoned?" asked May.
"Hundreds of years." suggested April.
"How come it was abandoned?" asked May.
"From what I've read, this used to be a hideout for criminals on the run from the law." Scrooge replied. "This would be where they would hide their loot. No one knows how, but word got out among the town-"
"I didn't see any town when we landed." Della said, confused.
"It was torn down back in 1945. Didn't recover well after the war." Scrooge replied. "But before that, there were whispers about their hideout. The thieves had to act fast to secure their loot, so they set up traps out of spite and to ensure that no one else would get it. So be on your guard."
"You bet Mr. McD!" Launchpad said, walking into a wall. "Hey a rocky wall!… Tastes like sandpaper…"
As the group walked along, Della looked back at Louie. The fan of Ottoman Empire didn't look enthusiastic. He kept looking around the cave. Della decided to make some small talk.
"So…Louie. You must be pretty excited to be adventuring again after being grounded. Huh?" Della asked in her usual perky tone.
"Not really." Louie blandly answered, not bothering to face Della.
The pilot was surprised. "Oh. You don't…like adventure?"
"Meh." Louie simply replied again.
"I mean…your brothers seem to like adventure, so I thought…" Della began.
"Just because you, Huey, and Dewey like to almost get killed doesn't mean I don't." said Louie with slight irritation in his voice.
"Right, right. Of course." said Della. "But Louie, come on, all adventures have their dangers, right?"
"Big Rock Candy Mountain isn't." Louie replied, his tone filled with slight resentment.
Della cringed a little from that and tented her finger awkwardly. Clearly, Louie was still sore about Big Rock Candy Mountain. She tried to steer away from that topic.
"Is there anything at all you like about adventuring?" Della asked nervously
"Only if there's anything valuable involved like treasures, gold, jewels…" Louie answered, still not facing Della.
"Well, you're in luck. Because from what Scrooge says we're about to find a mountain of gold in this cave." Della said excitedly.
"Yeah, well not really much to look forward to if all treasure goes to the bin, not next of kin." Louie reminded.
Della's expression dropped. "Oh, right…that. Yeah, Scrooge taking all the loot for himself can be annoying, especially since we worked just as hard as him to get him."
"Can't say I disagree." Louie replied.
Della smiled a little. 'Yes! We agree on something! It's not much, and he's still not looking at me, but it's a start. I gotta keep this going and maybe he might open up to me.' she thought.
"Is there anything else about adventuring you might like?" Della asked nicely.
"I like coming up with schemes." Louie answered.
"I mean besides that and treasures." said Della.
This bit set Louie off and he glared hatefully at Della.
"Why would you care?!" Louie shouted.
Everyone stopped, turning to see the argument about to unfold and Della is hurtfully taken aback.
"Because… because I'm trying to get to know you." Della answered, hurt.
"You should've done that sooner! You knew nothing about me ever since you set foot in the mansion!" Louie snapped.
The family grimaced at the argument taking place in front of them.
"Uh oh." said Dewey.
"Oh boy." Lena and June groaned.
"But, but I'm trying to-" Della started.
Louie furiously cut her off. "Well, your attempts aren't helping! You think that I'm just gonna open myself up to you just because you've unexpectedly entered our lives?!"
"Louie, please, I-" Della was cut off again.
"You had your chance and you threw it out the window! You favor Huey and Dewey more than me because I'm nothing like you! And that's all you seem to understand about me!" Louie accused.
"That's not true!" Della retorted, almost tearfully.
"Keep telling yourself that!" Louie spat.
Della felt her heart breaking again as she was close to tears. The rest of the family exchanged worried glances, especially Lena. Huey walks up.
"Guys, come on. Let's not-" Huey tried to calm only to be cut off.
"Shut up!" shouted Louie, causing Huey to recoil. "You stay out of this!"
"Louie, please! Just calm down!" Webby pleaded. "None of us want a repeat of the Cloudslayer incident!"
"Yeah! Well, guess what Webby! We went past that a long time ago!" Louie shouted, before storming off.
Della desperately followed after him.
"Shouldn't we do something?" May asked.
"Best that we don't. If we say anything, we'll only make things worse. Might be best to just let Louie vent." Launchpad answered. "Believe me, I've had spats with my family before back in the day. Letting things calm down a little bit might help."
"That's surprisingly mature." April commented.
"Hey I may not be brains, smarts, or sharps, but I do get family." Launchpad said.
But Della was desperate.
Louie had stopped, his arms crossed as he angrily looked away from a pleading Della.
"Louie, please!" Della begged. "I'm sorry I left you locked up in your room like that! And I'm sorry for leaving you vulnerable to our enemies!"
"Apologize all you want! It won't do you any good, just like how my apologies apparently weren't good enough for you! I told you how sorry I was for the Timephoon! But all you did was ignore me, embarrass me, ground me and took away my dreams! I will admit, grounding me was understandable given the damage I did. But the way you pulled it off?! There was no way in hell that was right! Plus, you almost got me killed! You don't know the first thing about me or my schemes! You don't even like me!"
"That's not true! Honey, I love you! You and your brothers are my world!" Della protested.
Louie stopped to hatefully glare at his mother again.
"Oh really!? If we meant that much to you, you wouldn't have abandoned us for some stupid rocket!" Louie shouted.
Della's beak was agape in shock, like she was impaled by an icy dagger. The rest of the family who heard what Louie just said are also stunned by Louie's reference to the Spear of Selene.
"I meant what I said before. Me not thinking about the consequences of my actions, who do you think I got that from? Oh, that's right! You, Dumbella!" Louie exclaimed as his voice kept on rising with each word he spoke.
Della was shocked by Louie's use of that nickname.
"Ever since you got back, all you did was see me as a terrible kid! Uncle Donald may have been overprotective, but at least he had the decency to do things right aside from keeping secrets from us. Unlike you! You left us orphaned because you were afraid of becoming a mom and wanted to go on a stupid rocket joyride! You're no mom. You're a stranger. You weren't a part of my life. And you never will be. And when you tried, you just screwed it all up by ruining everything! Uncle Donald is the only parent I know! You had your chance to get to know me and be a parent too, but all you've done is treat me like I'm not part of the family! Well guess what: if anyone isn't part of the family, it's YOU!" Louie yelled as he let out all his anger and resentment.
With this, Della's eyes twitched in anger. Her temper began to rise.
"What… did you just say?" Della asked.
"You heard me." Louie growled.
Everyone gasped in horror at what Louie just said, even Lena was horrified.
"Young man! How dare you-!" Beakley was about to shout.
But Launchpad quickly covered her mouth, muffling her scolding much to her annoyance.
"Shut up…" Launchpad quietly warned.
"THAT IS IT, LOUIE!" Della screamed. "I'm putting my foot down! I've tried so hard to be nice! I've been trying to apologize to you for days, but you refuse to acknowledge that and keep trying to ignore me!"
"Now you know how I feel!" Louie spat.
"I don't know what your problem is, but if you're gonna keep up this rude attitude and continue making schemes that are more than likely to get us killed, then you're not coming with us on any more adventures after this until you change that!" Della shouted.
This just made Louie angrier. "Oh, sure! Ground me! That's the only way you know how to deal with me, right!?"
"Just what is your problem, Louie!?" Della asked. "At first, I thought you were angry with me because I almost got you killed. But now, I'm starting to think it's more than that! This goes far beyond me punishing you and everything that happened at the Bin. What did I say to make you hate me so much?!"
"Why should I bother telling you? It's not like you'd care." Louie huffed, stuffing his hands in his pocket and turning away.
"Just tell me! I don't want our family to be torn apart because of a mistake I made!" Della pleaded.
"That's funny, considering this family was already torn apart TWICE because of one of your mistakes!" Louie yelled.
Della widened her eyes in shock and everyone else gasped in fear, especially Scrooge as they could see where Louie was going with this. Flashbacks in the plane that very day flashed before his eyes.
"W-what do you mean? What are you talking about?" Della asked nervously.
"You have no idea, do you?" Louie asked rhetorically.
"Louie, no! Stop!" Scrooge called out.
Louie ignored him. "You wanna know what happened 11 years ago? What you did to our family when you left?! What you did to Scrooge, Donald, and us!? Especially ME?!"
"THAT'S ENOUGH, LOUIE!" Beakley shouted.
But before anyone could say anything else, there was a loud rumbling noise. Della and Louie cut off their argument.
"What was that?" Della asked.
"LP, please tell us that was your stomach." begged Lena.
"Nah, I ate before we left." Launchpad replied.
Suddenly, appearing out from the ground came a bunch of Unversed. There were Floods, Archravens, Blue Sea Salts, Buckle Bruisers, and Spiked Turtletoads. The first four were in their Final Mix colors.
"What the hell are those!?" Della shouted.
"Unversed! They thrive on negativity!" said Violet.
"I thought the Cornerstone was protecting us!" Della shouted, confused.
"It is! But it's very old! No creature of darkness is supposed to enter this world!" June replied.
"Quick! We gotta take them out now!" said Huey.
"Aye if we have a chance of surviving!... And getting the gold!" said Scrooge.
"Weapon uuup!" said Dewey. (1)
Scrooge readied his cane, Beakley and Launchpad readied their fists, Della summoned Godslayer, Huey summoned Spirit Guandao, Dewey summoned his Laser Sabres, Louie drew his Khopesh, April summoned Sun Glaive, May summoned Starfire Sword, June summoned Viper Khopesh, Webby summoned Persian Blade, Lena summoned Diamond Dagger, and Violet summoned Energy Mace.
The fight began as the family ran at the dangerous creatures.
Scrooge whacked and stabbed some Floods with ease, but it became harder when Buckle Bruisers took their place and attacked the billionaire next. Scrooge dodged their swipes, but fell victim to their Shield Punches. Scrooge used his cane like a pogostick to bounce against the heads of the creatures, discombobulating them before he kicked, stabbed, and whacked them away.
Huey slashed some Archravens with his Spirit Guandao, but was then attacked by Blue Sea Salts shooting ice shards at him. Huey used his energy blasts to shatter them to pieces and then slashed the blue Unversed away with his weapon. But then four more came up from behind him and used icey tornados to freeze Huey. But his energy powers burned himself free and he electrocuted the Unversed before he slashed them away in one swipe.
Dewey used his Quad Blasters to blast more Floods with ease. But then the middle triplet was ambushed by Archravens flying down upon him in their Kuchibashi Dive technique, knocking him against the cave wall. Dewey jumped back up and super-sped around them to hold them back. In the process, he switched to Laser Sabres and slashed them all away during his run.
Louie whistled for his Khopesh to stab through more Archravens when he was suddenly knocked to the ground by a Buckle Bruiser as it was joined by two more. Louie stood back up and whistled for his Khopesh to stab them, but one used its shield to knock it away and then all three body slammed Louie in different directions, causing him to topple onto the ground. Thinking fast, Louie turned around and with a wave of his hand, an earth pillar burst out of the ground and sent the Unversed crashing into the cave wall and Louie whistled, causing his Khopesh to fly and stab through them.
Lena dodged several Floods trying to attack her with rips and dive lunges as she slashed them all away with ease. But then a Spiked Turtletoad knocked her away and she smacked against the cave wall. Lena jumped back up and fired magenta magic orbs to hold the large Unversed back. Lena powered up her Diamond Dagger with her magic and jumped up into the air before jamming it into the Unversed's head. She then jumped backwards and forced the Diamond Dagger to slice through the back of the Spiked Turtletoad and infect its insides with her magic, killing it.
Webby jumped up and around kicking and punching down Buckle Bruisers with ease, slashing some of them across their faces and chests and necks. But then Webby was attacked from behind by three more as they threw their shields at her head, knocking Webby down. When she regained her surroundings, Webby gasped to see the Unversed pile on top of her to hold her down. But the girl duck managed to summon her new super strength to push them all off of her, jump back up, and then stab them in the faces with her Persian Blade.
Violet bashed away Blue Sea Salts with ease with her Energy Mace. She ducked and dodged their ice attacks while doing so. But then, the hummingbird was attacked from behind by a Flood lunging at her. Violet was able to bash it away, but many more Floods lunged at her, some even scratching her in the process so she would lose focus. But as Violet fell to her knees, she quickly powered up her mace and slammed it into the ground, the magic knocking away the Floods far away and even destroying them.
April used her Sun Glaive to slash away more Floods that tried to attack her. But just when she thought she was in the clear, Archravens flew down from above in a Glide Attack move that struck the yellow-clad triplet off her webbed feet and rolled across the dirt like a bowling ball. April jumped back up and then concentrated before using her powers to fly up to the flying Unversed' level. April then used her powers on her Sun Glaive to bring up yellow psychonic orbs and then threw them into the Archravens, destroying them.
May slashed the whiskers of a Spiked Turtletoad with ease with her Starfire Sword. She was able to avoid its squashing move as she jumped out of the way of its enormous belly, but then the Unversed performed Shell Spin, knocking into May several times as she was bounced around from the impact. May jumped to avoid another hit as she summoned fire in her hands and then threw it. First the whiskers caught fire, followed by the legs, then the eye sockets, tongue, and spikes. The Unversed roared in pain before May stabbed it between the eyes. It fell back down and disappeared in fiery darkness.
June slashed her Viper Khopesh against several Blue Sea Salts. But then she was picked up into the air by three Archravens. June tried to thrash them, but they held her up high just as a Buckle Bruiser tossed its shield and knocked June out of their grasp and she landed on the ground. Thinking quickly as she rubbed her head, June quickly went invisible as the Unversed tried to grab her. The Buckle Bruiser was suddenly stabbed through the back and fell over. The Archravens were suddenly slashed across their necks, disappearing into darkness. June reappeared with a victorious smirk.
Della slashed away Floods and Archravens with ease with her Godslayer sword. She also managed to punch and kick away incoming Floods lunging at her. Her metal leg gave more of an impact when she kicked away any attacking Unversed. A Buckle Bruiser tossed its shield at her. But Della caught it and flung it back against it, bashing it against its face and Della charged towards it, slashing it three times before stabbing it clean through its face.
Beakley punched and pummeled away every Unversed coming at her. She tossed one Buckle Bruiser into a group of Floods, knocking them all onto the ground. But then another one tried to restrain her, but Beakley flung it over her shoulder and slammed it against the ground. A Spiked Turtletoad tried to crush her, plopping its belly right on top of the former S.H.U.S.H. agent/director. But Beakley lifted it up with her bare hands and threw it against the cave wall. She then grabbed one of the lit lanterns and smashed it against the massive Unversed, setting it ablaze before it disappeared into the darkness.
Launchpad managed to hold his own against the Unversed. No matter how many blows or rips he took to his body, he managed to stand up right every time. He punched a Buckle Bruiser in the face, bashed it's shield into an Archraven, used a Blue Sea Salt as a bowling ball by throwing it into a group of 10 Floods… miraculously getting a strike!
"Ha ha yes! LP for the win!" Launchpad cheered before ducking from an icy blast from a Blue Sea Salt.
They fought hard, destroying a lot of them, but more monsters kept appearing, replenishing their number. Even some new Unversed such as Axe Flappers and Scrappers started to appear. It was non-stop.
"Louie. Any ideas?" Della asked, stabbing a Blue Sea Salt.
"No." Louie blankly replied, slashing a Flood.
"No angles?" Della asked.
"Gee, I wish I could. But since you've forbidden me from seeing the angles, I'd rather not." Louie snarked.
"What? Louie I never-" Della was about to reply only to be cut off.
"I'd hate for my schemes to lead to more bad things for my family. That's what they do, right?" Louie snarked.
They were about to argue again until Dewey joined them, firing more shots from his Quad Blasters.
"Less arguing! More fighting!" Dewey shouted.
As Della rejoined the fight, Louie then spotted something out of the corner of his eye. Lena used her magic to destroy a group of Archravens when five Blue Sea Salts came charging at her. They fired ice shards at her, but Lena blasted them away with ease. But she wasn't ready for them to suddenly unleash a freeze tornado that suddenly sent Lena flying backwards, screaming.
Louie gasped. "LENA!"
He ran over and leapt up. He caught Lena in the nick of time, landing on the ground and holding her bridal style. She was a little bit singed, but fine.
"Lena! You okay?" Louie asked.
Lena opens her eyes, smiling when she finds Louie holding her.
"You saved me." Lena blushed as Louie held her.
"Yeah. Are you going to be alright?" Louie asked as he blushed back.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. But uh…Louie. You can put me down now." Lena nervously chuckled, blushing redder from their position.
In panic, Louie quickly sets her down. "Right! Sorry! I was just, uh…" Louie tried to explain only to be cut off when Webby is sent screaming and flying.
Some Floods and Blue Sea Salts attacked them, Louie gritted his teeth and attacked as he sliced the Unversed apart with swings from his Khopesh. His goggles appeared for him to whistle and have his Khopesh fly around, cutting them to pieces. Lena watched her crush in awe.
"He's so cool…" said Lena with a blush, before resummoning her dagger and joining back in the fight, attacking some more Floods.
The family kept fighting but were getting exhausted. They never seemed to stop attacking.
"Ugh! These things just won't go away!" yelled May.
"Anyone got any ideas?!" shouted Dewey.
"We kill 1 and 10 more of them pop up out of nowhere!" Louie complained.
"I got no time to think!" Launchpad called.
"There's a shocker." June deadpanned.
The fight moved further down the tunnel. Louie was fending off against a group of Archravens. But what he didn't notice was that a Spiked Turtletoad was slowly creeping up behind him, ready to strike.
But after slashing away a Blue Sea Salt, Della spotted the large Unversed and gasped.
"LOUIE! LOOK OUT!" Della cried.
Louie heard her, but was too late to react to the massive Unversed. He turned around and gasped as the Spiked Turtletoad raised its foot to stomp on him.
Seeing her son in danger, Della's horrified face turned to one of anger at the thought of her son in peril. Her eyes glowed orange and a small aura of fire which spread to her sword.
In a sudden fiery flash, Della ran forward and blocked the foot of the Spiked Turtletoad with all her might. Louie flinched from the flash but was surprised to see his mom, glowing in a fiery aura, holding back an attack from a massive Unversed.
"Get your stompers off my son you damn, dirty, creature!" Della yelled.
Della pushed the foot up and with a swing of her sword, slashed and cut it in a fast motion. Della then punched it in the face, sending a fiery blast against it in the process before she jammed her sword into its face, twisting it in anger. Della then threw two balls of fire at its eyes before pulling out Godslayer, killing the Unversed.
Louie stared in shock. "Mom?!..." he gasped.
Della panted as she picked up her Godslayer sword and then smiled as she faced her youngest son. "You ok Lou?" she asked.
"Uh, y-yeah, I am." Louie managed to reply. "What just-"
"Hold that thought!" Della suddenly said, charging back at the battle.
Some Unversed had spotted the two and were coming at them. Della reacted quickly as she dodges some claw swipes from three Scrappers before she slashed them one after another. The pilot then ducked her head from some Aero crescent blasts from two Axe Flappers before she upper-slashed them, kicked an Archraven to the ground with her metal leg, threw a blast of fire into a Buckle Bruiser, stole it's shield, and then threw it straight through a Flood, a Blue Sea Salt, and a Spiked Turtletoad before it jammed against the cave wall.
Della panted from the fast-pasted fight before looking back at her son, jokingly saying, "Boy, that was a bit of a workout, huh?" she asked.
Louie managed a chuckle. "Yeah, it kinda was…" he admitted.
For the first time in a while, they shared a smile for a bit only for the moment to be ruined when another Buckle Bruiser smacks Della and sent her screaming.
"MOM!" Louie cried.
Della hit the ground hard and the Unversed attempted to crush her. But then, a pillar of earth impales and kills it. Della looks to see it came from Louie, fist on the ground again. He panted a little, aiming a look towards Della who was surprised to be saved by her son. She gave him a grateful smile and he returned it.
Again, the moment was disturbed when the family runs past him, and he joins them and Della who's helped up by Beakley. The family find themselves surrounded by hundreds of Unversed, all intent on killing them.
"There's like hundreds of these things now!" shouted June.
Della looked at the battle. "How the heck are we gonna stop this? These things keep popping up everywhere like weeds in a garden!" she said.
"We can't handle this many monsters at once! Especially in a cramped-up cave like this!" said Dewey.
Louie looked at the fight and then looked at his surroundings. He then glanced down the original pathway they were going and saw something ahead. He ran forward.
"Louie?! Where are you going kiddo?!" Della called in surprise.
Louie looked around again and then spotted another path and something shiny in the distance. He immediately knew what it was.
It was the missing gold!
Previous adventures flew into Louie's mind before an idea came to him. He turned back around. "Everyone! I have an idea!" he called.
Fending off the Unversed for now, everyone gathered around Louie.
"From what I remember on every other adventure I've been on, every time we take treasure from some kind of weird cave, temple, city or whatever, a booby trap is set off! If we do that with the gold, it'll cause a cave-in! And it'll destroy those Unversed while we get out of here!"
"Louie, that's brilliant!" said Scrooge.
"A cave-in is a brilliant way to destroy all these countless Unversed at once." said Violet.
"Only one problem. Won't that put us at risk too?" Huey asked, worried.
"Yeah, I know that, Huey. That's why we make a run for it as soon as the cave-in starts." Louie answered.
"Wait!" Della said as she stopped her son by grabbing him by the shoulder. "What if you're wrong?" she asked. "I mean this scheme might not-!"
Louie scowled at her. "This is what I'm good at Mom!" he said sternly. "I see the angles! This isn't just a scheme, this is a chance to get out of here before we fall to a dark-themed death! NOW COME ON!"
"But-!"
"Let's go with Louie's plan." Said Dewey, surprising his mother and brother as places a hand on his shoulder. "It's a risk, yeah, but it's worth going for it. I trust Louie on this."
Huey places a hand on Louie's shoulder too. "Yeah. Me too. He's the Sharpie after all."
Louie was surprised by his brother's faith in him, smiling at them and looking pleadingly to his mother.
After a moment of hesitation, Della sighed but nodded with a smile. "Alright! Let's do it!"
The group ran for the cave and turned a corner. There in full view was a large pile of gold.
"The stolen treasure!" gasped Huey.
"So that's where they hid it!" said April.
"Everyone use caution!" said Beakley. "If Louie's predictions are correct, once the gold is removed, then the cave will collapse!"
Scrooge pulled out a large tan sack with a green dollar sign on it from his toonspace. Quickly, everyone began to load the gold into it. They heard roars and Launchpad turned to find the Unversed catching up with them.
"Uh…guys." Launchpad warned.
The family turned to find the army of Unversed approaching them.
"We need more time!" Scrooge shouted.
"Huey, Dewey, let's hold them off with long-ranged attacks until everyone finishes getting the gold!" said Louie.
"Right!" Huey agreed.
"Let's go!" Dewey also agreed.
The Duck Boys got away from the gold. While the family collected, the Duck Boys held back the Unversed with long ranged attacks. Dewey shot down flying enemies with his Quad Blasters, Huey blasted Unversed on the ground with energy blasts from Spirit Guandao and Louie whistled his Khopesh to speedily cut down as much Unversed as he could.
"Admit it brother! You missed doing this with us!" Dewey grinned, shooting down some Archraven.
"Meh. Maybe a little." Louie grinned back, whistling to slice a Buckle Bruiser a part.
"Does this mean we're brothers again?" Huey asked, blasting some Scrappers and Wild Bruisers.
"We'll talk later, 'Jet'." said Louie, smiling.
"Sounds like a 'yes' to me!" Dewey smiled again, firing more shots.
It wasn't long until Webby dropped the last of the gold into the sack.
"That's the last of the gold!" she said.
Beakley effortlessly lifted the sack of gold over her shoulder.
"Nice strength, 22!" Della praised. "Someone's been keeping up with their healthy habits."
"Focus, Della." Beakley said. "Keep an eye out for-"
She was cut off when the ground suddenly lowered beneath them. Everyone quickly jumped back as it lowered about 5 feet.
And then, a pebble bounced off Lena's head and she caught it. Her pupils shrank.
"It's starting…" she said, pale.
Suddenly, more rocks of all sizes began to fall.
"AVALANCHE!" April, May, and June screamed together.
"Quick! Everyone to the exit!" said Scrooge.
Everyone began to run.
The rest of the Unversed spotted them and began to run towards the group. But the falling rocks crushed them almost immediately, killing them. Not even the Spiked Turtletoads could survive the cave in.
"Hey, it worked! They're getting killed!" said Launchpad.
"Keep running!" shouted Huey. "We're almost out of here!"
Then a large rock nearly crushed Lena, causing her to stumble back in alarm. But then she fell over a fallen rock and landed on her back. The others were far ahead and nearly out of the cave.
"HELP!" Lena shouted.
Della heard her and gasped. "LENA! HOLD ON!" she cried as she ran back.
Louie heard this as well and turned and gasped.
Della ran over and helped Lena up.
"It's ok sweetie, I got you!" Della said.
Suddenly a large pile of rocks crashed near them, making Della and Lena yelp in surprise as they stumbled back. The avalanche began to increase rapidly and the pilot and shadow ducks were barley able to avoid getting crushed as they tried to run.
Louie saw all of this happen. He realized to his horror that this was because of him. It was his scheme that led to the cave collapsing. But in trying to save his family, he put his mom and crush in danger. Della's words suddenly echoed in his head.
"...no good ever came from cockamamie schemes!"
"Look…your plans…your schemes…they only lead to bad things for your family. If you wanna be a part of this family… you've gotta stop."
Guilt clutched Louie's heart as he suddenly acted in the spur of the moment. Focusing his powers, he launched earth pillars against the falling rocks to buy his mom and crush time. But the avalanche was too fast, even as Della and Lena began to get closer to the exit.
Then, a large amount of rocks landed on the ground, almost crushing Della and Lena, making them fall back on their backs. Louie saw more about to fall on top of them as they got back up on their feet. He didn't hesitate to do what he did next.
"LOOK OUT!" Louie screamed as he charged forward as fast as he could.
Before Della and Lena could register Louie's words and/or the rocks from right up above them, Louie suddenly shoved them right out of the cave and out of the path of the avalanche. He looked up in terror as the rocks began to come towards him.
"Aw phooey…" he muttered.
Louie tried to run while covering his but it was too late. The avalanche engulfed him. His screams were cut off by the sounds of crashing rocks.
Lena and Della had landed outside the cave after Louie shoved them out. They got up and looked back at the cave in horror as they saw it was blocked by rocks. The cave-in had stopped but Louie was no where to be seen.
"LOUIE!" the girls screamed as they ran to the cave.
Everyone else joined them.
"Where's Louie?!" cried Huey.
"He's still in there!" Della screamed.
"WHAT!?" they all cried in horror.
"He shoved us out of the way! He saved us!" Lena said as she began to move the rocks. "Start digging!"
Without hesitation, everyone began to dig away at the rocks.
"Louie, please, say something! Anything!" Lena begged.
"Come on Louie, where are you?!" cried Webby.
"Speak to us Lou!" shouted June.
Then, Launchpad moved one large stone and saw some green. "Hey! I found him!" he called.
Everyone joined Launchpad and dug away at the spot. Launchpad then spotted Louie's feet and immediately pulled him out. As soon as everyone saw him, they gasped.
Louie was covered in bruises, scrapes, cuts, and blood. His sweater was torn, his eyes were black, and he was bleeding in various places. He was also unconscious. The avalanche had knocked him out.
"LOUIE!" everyone screamed in horror.
"MY BABY!" Della cried as she held Louie in her grasp, tears falling out of her eyes.
"IS HE OK?!" Dewey cried.
"LOUIE! OH GOD NO! PLEASE DON'T DO THIS TO ME! YOU CAN'T DIE! YOU JUST CAN'T!" Lena cried.
Violet ran over and put two fingers to Louie's wrist. "I got a pulse. It's weak." she said.
"GET HIM ON THE PLANE!" said Scrooge. "We'll go to the hospital right away and then get him to the castle!"
"I'll get the first aid kit to stop the bleeding!" said Beakley.
Everyone made a beeline for the plane. Launchpad tossed the sack of gold near thew co-pilot's seat and immediately started the Cloudslayer up.
Beakley began to clean up and apply bandages to Louie's cuts. Everyone waited with baited breath as she did.
"Mrs. B? Is-Is Louie gonna be ok?" April nervously asked.
"I can only hope so. I'll do all I can." Beakley sighed.
"That'll be good Bentina." Scrooge said, trying to compose himself.
Della could only stroke her unconscious son's head tenderly, tears coming out of her eyes. "Hang in there Louie… y-you're g-g-gonna be ok…" she stuttered. "I'm not leaving you. Not this time."
"Don't die on us, Louie!" Dewey sniffed.
"You'll pull through! We always do, together! As a family!" Huey said, trying to keep himself from freaking out.
Lena began to cry. "He… he saved us… he saved me…" she said through her tears.
"That was reckless and brave all at the same time…" Webby said, holding her bestie in a hug as she cried.
Everyone could only hold onto the hope that Louie would be ok as Launchpad flew for the hospital. They wanted to keep telling themselves that Louie was gonna be ok.
But there was one thing they did know… this adventure was a downright disaster.
Castle That Never Was, Throne Room:
The members of Organization XIII were in the throne room, having watched the events of the cave. All of them were grinning or stoic except Larxene who was bemused.
"Typical. The little green brat survived." Larxene scoffed
"Somehow, that does not surprise me." Marluxia grinned. "Your Unversed failed, Vanitas. It was meant to kill this troublesome family, but it may have just helped the boy and his mother start repairing their relationship."
"So, what?" Vanitas retorted. "By the time that happens it'll be too late. We'll have already made our move."
"Vanitas is correct." Master Xehanort agreed, prompting them to look up at him. "There is no reason to fear. While I was hoping for the Unversed to wipe out either Della or Llewellyn, destroying the McDuck Family was never its true mission. Instead, their attack was meant to set the stage for their true demise."
"Indeed." Xemnas agreed. "As a result of actions, the young Louie Duck has been severely injured. This will lead to panic for the McDuck Family. And panic leads to lack of preparation."
"By now, Sora and his companions are headed back to Disney Castle." said Ansem.
"And once they return and see the state Llewellyn is in, Della Duck will have no choice but to tell them what she did." said Terra-Xehanort.
"And once she does, this entire family, as well the Guardians of Light, will be in complete disarray." Young Xehanort grinned. "That will cause them to become vulnerable and let their guard down."
"Yes. And that will be our time to strike." said Xehanort.
"In other words, whether the green kid and his mom makeup or not, it makes no difference at this point. It's way too late for any of them now." Xigbar summarized.
Luxord tossed and caught some dice. "The dice has been cast. Our plan has now been set into motion. And once a game begins, it cannot be stopped until one side loses."
From green flames, purple energy and green energy, Maleficent, Magica and Merlock appeared in the center of the room.
"Ah, Maleficent, Magica, Merlock. Just in time. I trust that the progress for our final vessel is moving along?" asked Xehanort.
"Yes. Thanks to Merlock's help we are almost finished." Maleficent gestured to her fellow mage. "We merely need his spell book to put the finishing touches to it."
"Which I shall retrieve when we make our move. Has the time come for us to attack?" Merlock asked.
"Indeed." Xehanort had answered. "Young Llewellyn has been gravely injured. That in turn will lead to a chain of events that will cause the Guardians to slip up and let their guard down. The time to strike is upon us."
"Oh, good." Magica grinned deviously. "Because Glomgold and our 'family' are eager to get their hands on the McDucks. And so are we."
"As we speak, we are making the final preparations." Merlock began.
The scene shifts to Clan Glomgold preparing for battle.
"Using Vibranium that they acquired from the MCU world, Steelbeak and Black Heron have made modifications to their metallic limbs." Merlock began summarizing.
Black Heron had just finished adjusting her metal arm with a screwdriver. She held it up, looking at it in sadistic glee, having upgraded her arm into a Vibranium Arm, the color now a dark gray scheme. Her hand twisted around and she swung her arm, stretching and destroying one of the couches with ease.
Steelbeak polishes and sharpens his beak against a grinder, which is also darker after Black Heron upgraded into a Vibranium Beak. He pierced through a table much to his satisfaction. Heron conducted further tests by tossing a large metal disc towards which Steelbeak caught and crushed with his beak before swallowing it. The two F.O.W.L. agents shared a grin, satisfied with the results.
"And with Black Heron's help, the nanites that had previously turned Mark Beaks into a monster have been successfully recreated." said Merlock.
Mark Beaks was sitting down, gulping down a bunch of nanite serums created by Heron.
"And before we came here, Maleficent and I enchanted them with our magic. Let's just say, Beaks won't just become a monster this time. His ridiculously scrawny body will turn into a weapon of darkness and mass destruction." Merlock added.
Inside Beaks' body, the nanites attached to his blood stream, coated in darkness, ready to power him up once given the signal.
"Glomgold along with the other members of our group who lack magical powers are being gifted with the power of darkness from Riku Replica and Sephiroth. These powers, similar to what was granted earlier to both Scar and Zira, have enhanced their fighting abilities and bestowed upon them powers they could only dream of having. Even McDuck and Agent 22 will be on their knees before them." Magica explained.
Riku Replica and Sephiroth unleashed dark energy from their respective Keyblades, engulfing Glomgold, the Beagle Boys, Ma Beagle and Don Karnage in a dark flaming aura. Once they were done, their eyes glowed purple as they looked at themselves, enjoying the new powers bestowed upon them. Glomgold released a maniacal laughter and Don Karnage drew his sword, surprised to find it is longer and coated in purple energy.
"Black Heron has even been kind enough to provide the Beagles and Glomgold new weapons to combat the Guardians of Light and Clan McDuck." Merlock added. "She truly has a gift for developing advanced weaponry."
Black Heron wheeled in a cart in front of the Beagles. She presents to them new weapons:
A large pair of high-tech gauntlets, lights glowing from them.
Two high-tech axes that weren't shrap but they were coated in a dangerous blue aura.
And a high-tech handle.
Bouncer put on the gloves, activating them and smacking his fists together to unleash a small shockwave which causes him to grin.
Burger and Big Time took the axes, giving them looks of glee, especially Big Time who was thrilled with his new toy.
Ma Beagle took the handle, not that impressed by it at first…until she gives a swing and emerging from it was a long orange laser whip. Now impressed, she gave a stronger swing, and the whip stretched, slicing a stand in half.
Glomgold walked up to Heron with a glare, asking for his own weapon by holding his hand out demandingly. With a grin, she reaches under the cart and hands Glomgold what looks like a replica of his cane much to his bemusement. He took it and gave it a little look. He ended up pressing a button and his cane turned into a vicious double-bladed ax much to his surprise. He looked to Heron who gave a nod and gave another maniacal laughter.
"Black Arts had been provided the power to perform real magic by Magica. As of this moment, Felldrake and Sheldgoose are providing him with even more magic, making him thrice as more dangerous he was before." Merlock explained.
Leopold watches as Sheldgoose aimed Felldrake towards Black Arts Beagle, whose eyes glows while engulfing him in his aura. Black Arts floats in the air, feeling the sorcerer's power enhancing the magic that Magica had gifted him.
We go back to the throne room, Merlock, Magica and Maleficent grinning.
"They hunger to get their hands on the McDucks. And I hunger to get mine on Donald." Merlock sneered.
"As for me, with Maleficent's help I've become fully accustomed to the powers she had provided since I joined. It's taken months of training and meditation but finally, I'm ready." Magica smirked. "I'm confident I'm as powerful as I was in the Shadow War." She held up a hand which flared with purple energy. "If not, even more powerful."
"As you can see Xehanort, preparations are proceeding well. We are ready." Maleficent finished.
"You have all done well." Xehanort complimented "Your patience will be rewarded very soon. And Merlock, I imagine you have come here to bestow upon the new powers we promised."
"Yes, I have." Merlock replied.
Xehanort grinned, nodding to his four incarnations. The five of them teleport in front of Merlock.
"Then allow us to grant your wish." Xehanort smirked, summoning Gazing Eye.
"We shall grant you great power, Merlock." Ansem started, summoning Heartless Blade.
"Power that you have never known before." said Xemnas, summoning Ethereal Superior.
"The power we will give you is so great, only a fool would dare challenge you." said Terra-Xehanort, summoning his Gazing Eye.
"And with it, you will consume the world you came from in darkness." said Young Xehanort, summoning Time Watcher.
"Let the darkness inside you be unleashed with the fires of revenge fueling it!" Xehanort declared.
The five of them aimed their Keyblades at Merlock, engulfing him in beams of dark energy that lifted him up into the air. Maleficent and Magica watched with sinister grins as their fellow dark mage floated. He relished the sinister energy flowing through him. Xigbar, Luxord, Marluxia, Larxene, and Vanitas watched with evil grins as Merlock's dark aura grew larger and purple electricity surges from him, his eyes glowing a fiery dark purple.
When it ended, Merlock landed on the ground, pulsating with power and electricity and as he stared at his hands, he began to laugh maniacally.
"I've never felt such power before!" Merlock exclaimed, his hands flaring with sinister energy.
Then to Merlock's surprise, purple versions of Xemnas' Ethereal Blades emerge from his palm.
"What's this!?" Merlock exclaimed again.
"Do not fear. Those blades are a result of the powers we have bestowed upon you. They're the same ones I wield but are powered by your magic." Xemnas explained.
"We have also bestowed upon you other new abilities similar to our owns. You will find them quite useful." Ansem added.
"It will take time for your body to get used to your new powers. But with your newfound strength, the Mage of Thunder, even at his full power, will be on his knees before you." Terra-Xehanort explained.
"Even Sora will be at your mercy." Young Xehanort added. "But don't let it go to your head. We advise you to use these powers wisely."
"Don't worry, I'm no fool." Merlock grinned, closing his energized hand. "I'll ensure I make good use of these powers."
"Now that we're all powered-up, all that's left is that accursed Cornerstone of Light that's preventing us from entering our world." Magica crossed her arms.
"That will soon be taken care of. I know the right man for the job. Maleficent." Xehanort called out.
"Yes, Master Xehanort?" Maleficent responded.
"Where is Pete? I will need his assistance for this job, at once." inquired Xehanort.
Luxord, Marluxia, Larxene, and even Vanitas were particularly dumbfounded by this request. Xehanort wanted Pete?
"As of this moment, Pete is with Mortimer. They've recently made a short trip to Wakanda in the MCU world." said Maleficent.
"Whoa, whoa, wait a minute. Wasn't that world sealed off from us thanks to the Guardians?" Xigbar asked.
"Just like with Disney Town and Duckburg, there are secret passageways that will allow us to slip in undetected." Maleficent explained. "The two of them requested a passageway to Wakanda, as they wished to steal new weapons from its armory."
"New weapons you say?" Xehanort raised an eyebrow.
"Yes. Seeing as how the two wish to make themselves more useful in future battles, especially against the likes of Sora, I saw no reason not to grant their request." said Maleficent. "I can go and retrieve them at once."
"Good. See to it that you do." Xehanort then turned to Merlock and Magica. "As for the two of you, go to the rest of your colleagues. The time to strike is upon us."
Merlock and Magica nod. The three dark mages teleport via green flames, purple energy and green energy respectively. Xehanort and his 4 incarnations teleport back to their thrones.
"Hey, old man. You seriously believe that idiot Pete is the right guy for this job?" Larxene asked, incredulous.
"I've worked with Pete a couple of times. He might be an idiot, but he has his uses. And he's got good control over the Heartless." said Vanitas.
"Perhaps. But his track record of past failures makes me wonder why you're assigning him the task of dealing with the Cornerstone. Especially since he failed to destroy it once." Marluxia reminded.
"Pete is the only one best suited for this task. With what he will be provided, I trust he will succeed this time." Xehanort assured.
"Well, Pete aside, we should probably discuss the matter regarding the Seven New Lights." said Luxord, grabbing everyone's attention.
"He's right. With that little fiasco in the Pride Lands, I'd say we now know the identities of 6 of the 7 New Lights." Xigbar pointed out.
"There's Rapunzel…" Marluxia added.
"Elsa and Anna…" Larxene grinned.
"Kida…" Ansem added.
"Kiara…" Young Xehanort added.
"And of course, Kairi." Xemnas added.
"Six down. One more to go." Vanitas stated. "I wonder who the last Princess is."
"I know I can't wait to find out." Larxene smirked.
"We needn't look far." Everyone looks to Xehanort who had spoken. "Because thanks to my recent discovery, I already know the identity of the Seventh and Final New Princess of Heart."
This surprised all the members except Ansem, Xemnas, Terra-Xehanort and Young Xehanort.
"And currently, that light is among the ranks of our enemies. Sora doesn't realize it yet, but Kairi isn't the only pure heart traveling with him. There is another with him as we speak, and it's one that we happen to overlook." Xehanort grinned darkly.
MCU, Wakanda:
Pete and Mortimer snuck their way through the armory, surprisingly avoiding all the guards and alerting anyone of their presence. They were in a room full of advanced weaponry, including confiscated ones, all of which they passed.
"Wow. I can't believe we slipped past security so easily here." Mortimer stated.
"Fortunately for us, that panther king is away on business, and it was easy to get past them guards thanks to that passageway Maleficent showed us." Pete reminded.
"Remind me why we're here again?" Mortimer asked.
"All the other toons are upping their game so they can fight on par with those Guardians. We're gonna need to do the same, or we'll become useless." Pete explained.
"Makes sense." Mortimer replied. "So which ones are we here to get?"
The two of them stop near the end of the room, having found what they were looking for.
"Those." Pete pointed out.
Among the confiscated weapons, mantled onto the wall is: The chain hammer of Cull Obsidian and glaive of Corvus Glaive, both of whom were killed in the Infinity War.
Pete and Mortimer share smirks before walking over to the weapons, Pete taking the chain hammer and Mortimer taking the glaive, giving them a quick inspection.
"So, these were the weapons you wished to acquire." A female voice said.
Pete and Mortimer turned to find Maleficent exiting a corridor of darkness in front of them, grinning.
"Yup. These we confiscated after Thanos' little Snap. Since their original owners are dead, I figured, no point in letting such good weapons go to waste." Pete explained, resting the Chain Hammer on his shoulder. "And personally, I think this Chain Hammer thing suits me."
Mortimer walked over with his new Glaive which he gave a spin. "I think I can work this thing."
"Impressive. There may be hope for the two of you after all." Maleficent grinned before turning to Pete. "Speaking of which, Master Xehanort has summoned you to the Throne Room, Pete."
"Me?! The old coot wants to see me of all people?!" Pete asked, surprised. "I didn't see that coming. What could he possibly want from me?"
"Yeah, why him? The guy's evil, but dense like a brick wall." Mortimer added, making Pete glare at him.
"We have a special mission for you. And this time you can't possibly fail." Maleficent answered.
Pete and Mortimer shared looks of confusion.
"What's the job?" Pete asked.
"Come with me and you'll see." Maleficent answered, gesturing to the dark corridor.
Pete and Mortimer walk through it, followed by Maleficent and the corridor closes. No one in Wakanda knows about their intrusion.
Mysterious Tower:
In the Mysterious Tower, Master Yen Sid was on his chair. His eyes were closed with a troubled expression, one which Flora, Fauna and Merryweather noticed, much to their concern.
"Master Yen Sid?" Flora called out.
"Is something wrong?" Fauna asked.
"You look deeply troubled." Merryweather pointed out.
Yen Sid's eyes opened in deep foreboding, turning to the stars, gazing at one in particular. The one most likely for Disney Town/Duckburg/Spoonerville/St. Canard/Cape Suzette/Ah, you get the freakin' picture.
"I sense a great disturbance. A terrible darkness is approaching the world of Disney Town and Duckburg. I fear that Sora, Mickey, and the others may be in grave danger, especially Donald." Yen Sid worried. "I can only hope that they survive what's to come."
The fairies exchange worried looks. Little do they understand how right he is, as the Seekers of Darkness and Clan Glomgold are preparing to strike. And unfortunately, it will be when the Guardians of Light and Duck/McDuck Family are at their most vulnerable.
To be continued…
