Issue #1: Tutorial
"Where am I?" A young man asked himself as he floating in a seemingly dark void of space and time before seeing a videogame screen appear before his eyes.
[Greetings. You've died and are being reincarnated into a new world with videogame powers.]
"Damn, I guess fanfics were onto something if Gamer powers are real."
[Let's just move onto character creation. You will be given a display of a character to customize and be warned that we will not allow you to create, nor will we accept any anime character rip-offs or celebrity identity theft.]
"Okay…That must happen a lot." The young man said before he went about creating his new avatar which was a dark-skinned teen like he was before this event. Thin frame with short silver hair cut low to his head along with brown eyes and dressed in a simple white T-shirt and jeans with sneakers on his feet.
[Your name and background have been premade for you and now you must choose your power trait.]
Appearing before the teen was an extremely long list of available game inspired traits to choose from and he picked a class that he could have some fun with, but not in a creepy or gross kind of way.
[You have selected the [Psychic] trait. Choose your Discipline trait from the available choices.]
[Abomination] [Dream] [Faith] [Lore]
[Pain] [Psychedelia] [Rapport] [Self-Perfection]
[Tranquility]
"These are the class specifications from Pathfinder." The young man said to himself as he wasn't upset but more like surprised and after looking over the pros and cons of each psychic discipline, he picked one that made him feel like a heroic story protagonist.
[You have chosen the [Self-Perfection] discipline. You take a holistic view of psychic power, believing that you must hone both your mental and physical attributes to remain in balance. The focus you find while exercising, fasting, and otherwise tending to your body broadens your psychic power.]
[Starting skills.
Telepathy, Level: 1
Telekinetic Projectile, Level: 1
Telekinetic Barrier, Level: 1]
"Is that everything?"
[Yup. You're all good to spawn into the world, but before you do. Look at your newly gained status window.]

"Wait. Abraham Van Helsing? Like the guy from the Bram Stoker's Dracula?"
[Smart cookie. That gives away some of the surprise for your background though. Anyway, have fun and try not to die in the world of Marvel…Also, we are removing all your meta knowledge of Marvel.
We don't need someone like Charles to learn about the Gamer Guild.]
Before Abraham could even voice a complaint, he suddenly found himself becoming more exhausted than he had ever felt in his entire life and ended up blacking out as the process of sending him through different realities went underway.
5th of April/2024
Queens New York
"Damn it. My head totally kills." Abraham complied as he woke up in his bedroom in the apartment he had in Queens as memories of his life flashed before his eyes and told him that this is truly his own place after his parents tragically died a year ago and left him just enough to survive until now.
"Fuck." Abraham groaned before he got out of bed and made his way to the bathroom where he splashed some water on his face before taking a few deep breaths.
"Okay, new world with Gamer powers and I am a psychic. The game system seems to at least be similar to Fallout New Vegas since I had traits available to me and the layout is similar, so that means I need to level up and get some seriously good perks to max myself out, and I have to survive in a world I know nothing about…Damn it." Abraham couldn't help but curse yet again as his memories told him that this world wasn't all that nice to mutants like him.
"I'm in a world of superheroes and villains." Abraham said before he cleaned himself up before getting dressed in a green t-shirt and jeans with sneakers on his feet while he grabbed his cell phone, wallet and apartment keys. "I need to find a job. My inherited money is drying up fast thanks to the bills and my asshole of a landlord."
Suddenly, Abraham heard loud explosive noises nearby along with screams of terror.
"I'm going to regret looking outside. I just know it." Abraham said before he walked over to the window to see what exactly was going on and sure enough, he saw that it was a known terrorist/supervillain attacking several people and…Making his way to this apartment building.
[Quest Alert!
Name: X-men or Brotherhood
When your mutant powers awakened, your potential for becoming an Omega level mutant was sensed by the mutant factions of the X-men and Brotherhood of mutants. They want to enlist you.
Optional Objective 1: Join the X-men
Optional Objective 2: Join the Brotherhood of mutants.
Warning! By not choosing either, you could be contacted by other factions that wouldn't be as kind to you for being a mutant.
Rewards: 300 XP, New allies and enemies.
Failure: you don't want to know.
This quest has been automatically accepted.]
"Are you shitting me!" Abraham practically yelled at the game system that he had been given as he saw the literal Juggernaut steamrolling his way through people before walking into the apartment and breaking a large portion of the main door in the process.
[This game isn't the hand holding type. We said your background was randomized and keep in mind that this is a good one. Death is possible, but unlikely and that is up to the decisions you make right now.]
Abraham heard the monstrous stomps before he took a few deep breaths to calm himself before he heard another loud grunt before looking out his window again and seeing Juggernaut on his back while a famous X-men known as Colossus had seemingly tackled him out of the building while other apartment dwellers took the chance to bolt out of the building that was starting to shake and lose stability.
"Definitely not joining the Brotherhood." Abraham said while metal support beams seemed to come out from underneath him and form a platform under his feet and raise him into the air after other metallic beams tore a hole through the roof and allowed Abraham to be raised high into the air out of the apartment building, which got him an up-close personal view of another wanted terrorist.
Magneto.
Clad in his red and purple attire with the cape bellowing in the breeze. Abraham couldn't help but feel intimidated by the man who now spoke to him calmly.
"You have no reason to be afraid, Abraham. I'm not here to hurt you, in fact I've come to speak with you." Magneto said and somehow his words did manage to make Abraham relax a bit.
"You say that after thrashing the apartment I live in." Abraham stated bluntly while both he and Magneto looked at the place and saw it collapse right on top of the fighting Colossus and Juggernaut.
"Apologies. Perhaps sending Juggernaut to reach you was a slight mistake on my part, but I assure you that he wasn't going to harm you. Your one of us, after all."
"A mutant?" Abraham said in a low voice. He knew what he was, but speaking it aloud took a bit out of him since people tended to hate mutants.
"Don't be afraid to speak what you are, Abraham. You were born with a gift that you shouldn't be ashamed of." Magneto replied sternly as if he was scolding a child and despite his earlier claim, Abraham couldn't help but appreciate Magneto for telling him that his powers weren't something he should be ashamed of.
Granted he was still a terrorist, but Abraham could admit that he might be able to respect the man who at least seemed to care about his fellow mutants.
"That child isn't yours to corrupt Magneto." A female said as Abraham looked up and saw the X-men known as Storm in her protective white outfit descending through the air as lightning crackled around her. A stray bolt flew towards the metal of Magneto's suit, forcing him to summon a barrier of magnetic energy around himself and sadly that momentary distraction was enough for Magneto to lose focus and move the metal underneath Abraham's feet, making him free fall towards the ground.
He didn't scream like a girl during the process…
He didn't…Okay, maybe a little.
In any case, Abraham tightly closed his eyes and moved his arms in front of his face in a vain attempt to protect himself from the harsh ground, but luckily enough his fall was stopped as he was levitating inches above the ground.
"That was a close one." Another female said as Abraham turned his head and saw a red-haired teen known as Marvel Girl in her green dress like outfit with black shorts, knee length yellow boots and equally long gloves with a yellow face mask over her eyes.
Marvel Girl clearly put in a lot of effort to catch him and when he was safe, she let go of her telekinetic hold with a grunt of exertion. The minute his feet hit the ground, Abraham bolted and started running away.
This might be a quest, but he sure as hell isn't going to stick around while superheroes and villains duke it out in a crowded street.
Later
"I'm out of shape." Abraham said through labored breathes as he sat on a wooden bench in a nearby park a fair distance away from the superhero fight that got a lot of police attention according to the dozens of cars and swat vehicles that made their way to the scene.
"Why do I get the feeling that someone…Wants to sell me something!" Abraham quickly shouted as he stood up and looked to the left to see Marvel Girl again but this time, she stood next to Cyclops aka another teen and he was dressed in a blue suit like outfit with yellow gloves, boots and a yellow visor over his eyes that glowed with a crimson hue.
"Well, we don't want to sell you anything, but we do want to help." Cyclops said while Abraham debated on if he should run a second time.
"Help with what? Destroying another place for me to live?" Abraham replied heatedly. He didn't have the place for more than a hot minute, but his memories had told him that he lived there for a long time with his parents and that the place held sentimental value.
"That's more than fair. And we are sorry about that. Mr. Rasputin tends to charge into problems without thinking sometimes." Marvel Girl explained while scratching the back of her head a bit while Abraham couldn't help but look away.
"How can you help me when you don't know anything about me?"
"We know what it's like to have a normal life and suddenly everything changes in an instant. Getting powers like ours is confusing and scary, but it isn't something that has to stay scary when you have people helping you." Marvel Girl explained sincerely.
"My parents…They didn't hate me like I thought they would when I told them about my powers…One day I could just hear people's thoughts and…I thought they'd kick me out or disown me. But they loved me and now without them I don't have any family…People refused to help me so why should I believe that strangers want to lend me a hand?" Abraham explained with a sigh.
He didn't know how much those words needed to be said or how much they hurt him when they were spoken or how relieved he felt when the words were finally out, and he showed some slight vulnerability.
"Because to one degree or another. Your story is just like many other mutant stories." A new voice said, causing Abraham to look past the teens who turned their heads as the trio saw a bald headed and fair skinned man in a brown business suit come to the scene while sitting in a futuristic yellow seat of sorts that hovered off the ground.
"Who are you?" Abraham asked.
"My name is Charles Xavier, and I wished to speak with you about coming to my school for mutants like yourself." Charles said before explaining that the school could not only help Abraham learn more about himself and his powers, but it was also a safe place where he could rest his head without fear.
And after recent events, he didn't have a lot of options.
"I…I don't have any money for rent or anything." Abraham said weekly while he, Charles, Mavel Girl and Cyclops made their way towards the nearby jeeps in a local parking lot. The jeeps were marked with a yellow and red 'X' symbol on the hoods of each jeep.
"You don't need to worry about that at all." Charles explained before Marvel Girl helped Charles into the passenger seat of the jeep while the newly identified and futuristic wheelchair was placed in the back of the ride.
Abraham didn't say a word before getting into the jeep as Cyclops drove the car headed out of Queens.

It was late when the group arrived at Xavier's school for gifted youngsters and Abraham was given a short tour of the place before being shown to a free dorm room without a roommate being assigned to him yet. After the day he had, he simply laid down on the bed and was prepared to go to sleep before seeing a new game screen appear before his eyes.
[Quest Complete!

Abraham just let out a breath before dismissing the screen and diving under the covers of his new bed.

Salem, New York/Xavier's school for gifted youngsters
[You have fully recovered 100% of your HP, Energy and PSI points. You have gained the [Well Rested] perk.]
Abraham was woken up by the sounds of an early morning bell the signaled the start of a school day. He sat up in bed and saw a new assortment of goods placed on the ground near his bed.
Nothing overly fancy. New clothes, soaps and care products and a note.
[From: Charles
This is a care package, and I hope they are to your liking. Please come to my office so we can discuss your new school curriculum and studies.]
"I thought that Charles was nice, but I take it back, he's evil for making my first day here about school." Abraham said to himself before entering his private bathroom where he changed into the new clothes of a long-sleeved brown shirt and jeans with basic sneakers after he had cleaned himself properly for the day and looked himself over in the mirror.
"I just need to calm down. Yesterday was extremely stressful and damn near mind shattering as a form of super powered tutorial, but this is a new day and you're in a place that's supposed to be safe." Abraham said to his reflection before taking deep breaths to steady himself. "Now, I need to make my way to the office."
Later
Sitting in an afternoon class wasn't the most fun thing, but Abraham grits his teeth through it and put all his mental power into taking down notes and following the mathematics material presented to him from his teacher.
Due to your diligent studying, you have gained 1 INT!
Abraham chose to ignore the game alert as he focused on solving complex math problems. Honestly, Abraham was surprised by how normal the school felt. Aside from a few physical mutations that can't be hidden, this school functioned like any other school.
Classes, while important, still sucked. Some teens gossip while others form clicks or groups to stick with, while longtime friends stay together.
Another thing that didn't change however, was the new kid hazing as a few teens gossiped about Abraham and what he could do or if someone found him cute or anything.
'Getting this treatment sucked in middle school. Why do I have to live through this a second time?' Abraham asked himself with a sigh while choosing to ignore the whispers before class soon ended and he found his way into gym class.
Supplied with a change of clothes, the gym day was one of terror and regret as Abraham joined the gym class where everyone was tasked with playing the game of dodge ball thanks to Professor Logan.
Mutants plus painful and giant red rubber balls equaled a lot of pain and hurt. Especially when it was against the rules to use powers…Abraham never felt more doomed in his entire life.
2
"Everything hurts." Abraham groaned while sitting in the main courtyard of the school, or more specifically he laid down on the outer ring of the school's large outdoor fountain. The cold stone didn't ease the pain outright, but it did help realign his body since he ended up walking with a limp after gym.
The person responsible was a teen named Santo Vaccarro. The guy was entirely made of rocks, and he was genuinely sorry for how hard he had thrown the ball since holding back literal pounds of muscle wasn't easy.
"Has anyone ever told you that you take a beating like a champ" A new voice said making Abraham open his closed eyes and see a tan skinned girl looking down at him.
This girl has shoulder length light red hair that seemed to be orange in the sunlight along with strange red tattoos covering her body while she is dressed in simple school clothes. Nothing inappropriate yet nothing overly conservative.
"That's a new one. So, who are you?" Abraham asked while sitting up to properly greet the girl who gave him space to move.
"The name's Alani Ryan. And word around is that your brand spankin' new to this place." Alani said with a smirk while Abraham cracked the bones in his neck with a few satisfying pops.
"Yeah, I'm new. My old place got trashed when the X-men and Brotherhood of mutants both came looking for me."
"Ouch. What about your folks?"
"I'm…On my own." Abraham replied after a small pause.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to bring up old wounds. I just wanted to say welcome to the school." Alani explained while Abraham chuckled.
"You didn't know so its no problem. Besides I'm not the only student here with issues apparently. It's just weird how…Not weird this place is. If I didn't know better, I'd say that this is a normal prep school or something."
"I know. When I first came here, I thought the school would be way different, but I just feel like I did back in my old high school. And before you say anything, yes, I am seventeen, I'm just short." Alani said while Abraham couldn't stop himself from smirking.
"I wasn't going to say anything. But do you mind if I ask why, you have so many tattoos?"
"Not by choice. They came with my powers, although I don't know why they are connected to my powers since they don't do anything."
"What are your powers?" Abraham asked before Alani picked up a small rock and let it fall through her hand but instead of the rock falling to the ground, a small cloud of rock dust was left in its place.
"I can phase through stuff, but unlike Kitty. When I phase, normal matter falls apart. Luckily that doesn't apply to people though." Alani said with a sigh of relief.
"Cool. I'm telekinetic. I can speak with people with the power of my brain, but I can't read thoughts yet. Also, I can lift small objects and throw them or generate a force field around myself." Abraham explained.
"Don't let Julian hear you say that. He'll lord his superior telepathic abilities over you for the next few years."
"I don't think I've met him yet. I'm guessing he's a jerk." Abraham asked and Alani nodded her head in agreement.
"Dude's an asshat, but a powerful one. If I were to put him on a scale against all the other mutants here, I'd say he's at least below the top-ranking mutants in terms of power. People like the principal Xavier and Ms. Munroe or Mr. Xorn are stronger than him." Alani said which gave Abraham a decent guess as far as power scaling is concerned in this school. "Keep in mind I'm not getting good grades in mutant power theory, so I could be a bit off or overly generous."
"I appreciate the advice either way. Besides, I know my powers are weak compared to most people here." Abraham stated with a yawn before he stood up.
"If you're not busy. A bunch of people are going to meet up near the woods past curfew for a party. You want to come with?" Alani asked and Abraham thought about his response for a moment.
"Sure. I've never been to a high school party before. It could be fun."
"Keep in mind it isn't a hook up party or anything. So, don't get any ideas." Alani said with a teasing smirk on her face making Abraham smirk in return.
"Sorry, but you need to be this tall to have a chance with me." Abraham teased back with a hand raised while Alani stuck her tongue out at him before leaving and wished him good luck with the rest of his day until the party later.
6th of April/2024
Salem, New York/Xavier's school for gifted youngsters
Eleven O'clock at night
"This is not what I expected." Abraham said while standing next to his new friend Alani as several mutants had all gathered around near the lack in the woods or more specifically near the lake cabin where a tech savvy teen had set up a movie projector and played an old school movie against the wall of the cabin with several teens eating snacks and drinking sodas and stuff while the movie played.
The movie was the breakfast club movie which was a classic in Abraham's opinion but still he expected a wild party with sex and drugs like in the movies. Instead, he stumbled into a large club of movie fans.
"I told you it wasn't a hookup party. It's movie night. We think some teachers know about it, but since nothing happens, they are still letting us do this sometimes." Alani explained while she and Abraham both took sips of their apple juice from the red solo cups they had gotten from the nearby snack and drink tables.
"So, everyone here just comes around and watches movies from the eighties and nineties?"
"Basically. It's a fun way to unwind and it makes good small talk for later. Last month we watched Star Wars return of the Jedi. A classic." Alani said with a smile and Abraham couldn't help but agree and simply watched the movie along with his new friend.
END!
A/N: Okay this is my last new story for a while and I am putting in a lot of effort to make these stories the best stories I can possibly make and admittedly this story kicked my butt a little bit, but I am happy with how it turned out for the first chapter.
Anyway, remember to fav, follow and review.
