Kanto Gets Loud
Chapter 84: A Cut Above The Rest!
The next morning with Lincoln's Group,
After bidding farewell to Raigo, Lincoln and friends were now pedaling down the Cycling Road, intent on making it to their next destination, Fuchsia City, "Alright, we're making great time now!" Lincoln exclaimed, as Pikachu sat in the basket of Lincoln's bike, along with the Egg.
"Once we reach the end of this path, we'll have to continue on the regular roads. But it shouldn't take too long if we keep up this kind of pace," Brock replied.
"So, what sort of town are we going to be stopping in first?" Misty asked.
"As I recall from reviewing the maps this morning, the first village we have to stop in practices traditional medicines," Brock replied.
"You mean like using shed snake skins and certain plants and herbs?" Lincoln asked.
"Precisely. And some of the pharmacies down there have some of the best herbal medicines around. Only thing about herbal medicines is that while they're better than Potions you can buy at the PokeMart, Pokemon hate the taste of them," Brock replied.
"It's true. Those herbal medicines are way too bitter for our likings. Even Pokemon that typically like bitter stuff can barely stomach the stuff," Pikachu replied.
"I'll have to keep that in mind," Lincoln replied, as they continued to pedal. As they did, Lincoln's egg began to glow again, "Oh wow! My Egg's glowing again!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"Oh, that's amazing! But we can't let it hatch here! Not on our bikes!" Misty replied, just as the glowing died off.
"Guess it's not time for it to hatch yet," Lincoln commented.
"Even so, we shouldn't waste any time. When we're off the Cycling Path, we'll need to find somewhere to stop and have it looked at," Brock suggested.
"Then we got to put the pedal to the metal!" Misty said, as they sped up. Soon, they arrived at the end of the Cycling Path.
"Ok, so we're here! Where do we go now?" Lincoln questioned, as Brock checked the town map.
"Hmm, looks like that path there is the quickest way through the forest to that village we talked about," Brock said, pointing to a nearby path.
"Well, let's get a move on, then!" Misty exclaimed, as they once again started pedaling down the path. From behind a set of bushes they passed along the way, some green with piercing eyes and a scar over its left eye was eying them intently.
Meanwhile, at the New Loud House, after dinner,
The newly named Reynolds Family was sitting around the living room, as if waiting for someone, "Alright, has everyone finished their homework for the night?" Rita asked.
"Yes, Mom!" the chorus of her daughters sang.
"Alright. Now we just have to wait for our guests to arrive," Rita replied, as the doorbell rang, "Ah, that must be them!" she said, as she went to answer the door, revealing Lance and his family, as well as Katie and Taylor, along with their son, Mikey, and their Cultural Exchange Students, Glitz and Glam, "Hello, and welcome everyone! So good of you to make it!"
"We've been curious about Lincoln's activities over in that Kanto place, so naturally, we had to come when you invited us, Rita," Sharon replied, as she and the others entered the house.
"Hey girl!" Katie said, as she and Taylor each grabbed a handful of Rita's ass, causing her to let out an 'EEP!' in surprise.
"Katie, not when there are children present!" Rita quietly hissed.
"Sorry, we couldn't resist!" Taylor replied, still acting shameless about it.
"Oh, that reminds me! Rita, these are our siren homestay students, Glitz and Glam," Katie said, introducing the siren twins.
"Pleased to meet both of you," Rita greeted.
"Thank you for having us as your guests, ma'am," both sisters respectfully said.
"I got the broadcast queued up on the TV, guys!" Luna said, as everyone took their seats, either on the couch or on the floor surrounding it. Once everyone was situated, Luna hit the play button.
"We're coming to you live from Hophophop Town, for the P-1 Grand Prix Club Attack! The rules are simple! Each trainer enters with one Pokemon, and whoever comes out on top will not only receive the Champion Belt, but will also receive a year's supply of Nutritious Pokemon Vitamin Drinks, so that you can power up your Pokemon even further! My name is Teddy the Scoop, here to give you all the play-by-play! And joining me as a co-commentator is the head of the Hophophop Town Battle Club, Don George!"
"So, what exactly are we watching?" Mr. D-Ragon asked.
"A competition that our brother participated in. Has anyone told you guys about the Pokemon he's been encountering?" Lisa asked.
"We've only heard about those creatures from the trial you guys were in," Katie replied.
"And Charlie gave me a basic rundown on how things work in places like Kanto, like how human trainers help these Pokemon creatures become stronger by battling together," Emily replied.
"Ok. Well, this is one of many special competitions that Lincoln and other trainers like him participate in. This particular one is called the P-1 Grand Prix, which, according to him, is a Fighting Type only tournament," Lola explained, as the first battle got underway between Lincoln and Gilbert. Both trainers sent out their respective Pokemon.
"He's using some kind of furball for this event?" Lance questioned, noting Primeape's fuzzy appearance.
"According to him, he entered his Primeape in it to help it get in some exercise and try to blow off some steam as a means to get Primeape to start trusting him," Lisa explained, as the battle got underway, with both Pokemon battling relentlessly against one another, "As we can see here, Lincoln's Primeape is wild and ferocious, and is unwilling to listen to him."
"He did tell us that he hasn't had a chance to train it properly because of that," Lana added.
"But that would mean he's at a disadvantage!" Shane commented, just as they saw Lincoln rushing to save Primeape from crashing into the wall.
"Yeesh, either he's a crazy foo, or a brave one! That looked like it had to hurt!" Mr. D-Ragon commented.
"Either way, it seemed to have gained Primeape's good favor," Lucy replied, as they then saw Lincoln and Primeape fighting as a team, eventually winning against Gilbert and his Machop.
"Alright, so he's won the first round," Luna commented.
"Now he has to keep winning to make it all the way to the championship," Lori commented quietly. Apart from the Monsters, everyone in the room could understand why Lori and Lynn were being so quiet.
"Hey, didn't that announcer guy say that guy's name is 'Raigo'?" Lana questioned.
"That's what I heard," Lynn replied quietly.
"I wonder if he's the same Raigo that's friends with Lincoln?" Rita wondered.
"Well, it's good to know that your son is making friends while over in Japan," Taylor commented, as she held Mikey, who cooed softly while holding a turtle plushie.
"That was one of the things I was worried about since sending him there, but I'm glad he has friends like those Brock and Misty people he's travelling with," Rita replied.
"Good to hear that's one worry put to rest," Sharon replied.
Back with Lincoln and Company,
The three trainers had just arrived in the village with now difficulty, but saw some of the pharmacy owners were looking pretty glum, as were some of the townsfolk, "Wow, the people around here don't seem too happy," Lincoln commented, as they approached one of the townsfolk.
"Excuse me, but is there some reason things around here don't seem particularly lively?" Brock asked.
"I'll say there is. See, our town prides itself on our traditionally made herbal medicines and salves. We use only the most natural ingredients found in the forest over that way," the villager replied, pointing to the nearby forest.
"So, I'm assuming that you guys are experiencing some kind of drought with your ingredients?" Lincoln asked.
"No, if anything, this time of year is when there's far more ingredients than we know what to do with. It's this rogue Scyther that just appeared one day and claimed the entire forest as its own territory. Anytime one of us tries to go collect ingredients, it flat out attacks without any provocation. Some of the townsfolk attempted to chase off that monstrous Scyther, only to end up coming back completely covered with cuts and bruises."
"A Scyther, huh?" Lincoln questioned, as he took a moment to look it up.
"Scyther, the Mantis Pokemon, a Bug and Flying Type first spotted in the Kanto Region. As Scyther fights more and more battles, its scythe-like claws become sharper and sharper. With a single slice, it can fell a massive tree. It is nearly impossible to parry it's attacking scythes. Its movements are like a ninja," Dexter explained, showing an image of the green mantis Pokemon with long, scythe-like claws.
"That does sound like it can be trouble. Scyther is possibly the rarest and strongest Bug Type Pokemon in the Kanto Region, and by extension, the most dangerous as well," Brock commented.
"True, but without those wild herbs, our little village won't survive. You three are Pokemon trainers, aren't you? Won't you please help to rid our village of that pesky Scyther? If you want, you can even try to catch it!"
"Uh, well I, uh…." Lincoln began, only to see that he and his companions were surrounded by the other villagers, all looking like they were begging them to help out.
"It wouldn't be right to turn them down after hearing all that," Brock whispered.
"But remember, this Scyther is supposed to be really strong!" Misty replied.
"Don't forget, we have some powerhouses of our own," Lincoln replied.
"Well, alright," Misty relented.
"Alright, we'll do it!" Lincoln proclaimed, gaining a raucous cheering from the villagers. Nearby, a certain trio heard every word that was exchanged.
"Did you guys here that?" Meowth questioned.
"We sure did. That Scyther must be the most primo of primo Pokemon!" James replied.
"Just think of the kind of damage we could do with a dynamo like that on our side!" Jessie added.
"So, all we have to do is nab that dynamo ourselves before those twerps do!" Meowth proclaimed, as they got up to go and track down Scyther for themselves.
Later, in the Forest,
The trio entered the forest, searching for the rogue Scyther they were told about, but so far found nothing, "Hmm, maybe we should've asked where they always go for ingredients?" Lincoln pondered.
"The way they made it sound indicated that they must have no singular spot. After all, any forest can be a hotspot for medicinal herbs," Brock replied.
"Yeah, and they didn't say exactly where Scyther makes it's home either," Lincoln replied.
"Let's just find the thing and deal with it so we can get back to the village! I'd rather not be out here any longer than I have to be," Misty suggested.
"Easier said than done, Misty. Scyther might not even be in this part of the forest," Lincoln replied. Just then, Pikachu's ears twitched, as it leapt down, cheeks sparking.
"You might've spoken too soon there, Lincoln! I hear something coming!" Pikachu exclaimed. It didn't take long for some trees to start toppling over, as if sliced through, nearly landing on top of the three trainers. Landing on top of one of the trees was their quarry; The rogue Scyther. Lincoln took a moment to scan it.
"This Male Scyther is Level 55, and knows the moves X-Scissor, Double Hit, Agility, Swords Dance, Slash, Razor Wind, Focus Energy, Air Slash, Double Team, Night Slash, and the Egg Moves Endure and Defog," Dexter explained. Scyther brandished its claws at them in a threatening manner.
"Humans, I will say this only once! This forest is MY territory, and you're trespassing! Leave now, or you'll be forced to leave!" it said.
"Not happening, Scyther! You're causing a lot of problems for the people in that village just outside the forest!" Lincoln retorted.
"You mean those other humans? Yeah, so what? They've had this forest to themselves for far too long!"
"They need the herbs of this forest to make their special medicines for their livelihoods!" Pikachu yelled. Scyther only glared down at the Mouse Pokemon.
"Well, I don't plan on leaving MY forest after I claimed it for myself! And since you clearly won't leave willingly, it looks like I'll have to face you head on!" Scyther said, as it leapt down before the group, ready to battle.
"Alright, let's see how you handle with this tough guy! Raphael, you're up!" Lincoln proclaimed, sending out Raphael.
"I was wondering when you'd bring me back out," the rowdy Wartortle commented.
"Yes, well, I've got a strong opponent lined up for you," Lincoln replied, pointing to Scyther.
"Oh yeah, this'll definitely be a challenge!" Raphael smirked.
"I'd like to see you try to best me, shell boy," Scyther snarled.
"Alright Raphael, let's start out with Water Pulse!" Lincoln called out. Raphael then fired off Water Pulse.
"Heh, a weak attack at best! Take this!" Scyther exclaimed, slashing right through the Water Attack, and launching two sharp blades of wind at Raphael.
"Quick, Protect yourself!" Lincoln called out. Raphael surrounded itself with Protect, causing Razor Wind to bounce off harmlessly, "Ok, now use Water Gun!" Raphael then fired off Water Gun, striking Scyther dead on, only for it to spin while using Swords Dance, repelling the Water Gun.
"Whoa, did Scyther just use Swords Dance to deflect Water Gun?!" Misty questioned.
"Swords Dance is normally used to just power up a Pokemon's Attack Power, but I've never seen it be used as a Defense!" Brock added. Lincoln had a look of contemplation on his face upon seeing that Defense Scyther put up.
"Hmm, I wonder if I can use other Power Up moves to mount a strong defense?" he pondered.
"Impressed, are you? It took me forever, but I was able to perfect a style of Swords Dance that can repel most attacks. Even Fire Type moves can get blown back by this!" Scyther boasted.
'Hmm, maybe some of my other Pokemon can try learning that style,' Lincoln thought to himself. His thoughts were cut off as nets were hurled over Scyther and Raphael, trapping them inside, "Hey, what's the big idea?!"
"Well, was that a dull, twerpy voice?"
"A razor-sharp introduction is now, that it our choice!"
"Slashing through the world, plundering its resources!
"All to further sharpen our own forces!"
"These criminals will cut down any law!"
"You're so dull, just sit there in awe!"
"Jessie, the Sharpest Dressed Mistress of Villainy!"
"The Master Swordsmith of Crime, James is me!"
"We're an independent team of criminals, slashing away for our rights!"
"Give up now, we'll cut down any foe in any sort of fight!"
"WE'RE THE X-ROCKETS, FIGHTING AND SLASHING NIGHT AND DAY!"
"And with Meowth, the price you'll surely pay!"
"Geez, do you guys really improvise these variations of your dumb motto every chance you get?" Misty questioned.
"It always pays to fight the situation," James replied.
"Right, well, can you guys go be lame somewhere else? We're kind of in the middle of something here," Lincoln asked.
"How dare you?! We happen to be razor-sharp crime machines!" Jessie proclaimed, as Scyther began to try and cut through the net, only to have no luck.
"Heh, good luck trying to cut through that net! We had it reinforced with steel from the inside!" Meowth boasted.
"Alright, you three have had your little failed attempt at being menacing, so you mind cutting Raphael and Scyther loose?" Lincoln asked nonchalantly.
"Heh, not a chance! We've heard about this rogue Scyther from your conversation with the townsfolk, so we're going to take it for ourselves!" Meowth replied.
"And as for the Wartortle, we'll gladly sell it on the black market. It's bound to fetch a hefty price!" James added, sending out Koffing, "Koffing, Smokescreen!" he requested. His Koffing then started belching out Smokescreen, obscuring the trio's vision, allowing them to make their get away.
"*cough**Cough* Those guys really know how to get under my skin!" Lincoln commented, as the smoke finally cleared.
"They're gone!" Misty exclaimed.
"And they took Raphael along with Scyther!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"They couldn't have gone too far!" Brock said.
"We'll search from the air! Go, Fearow and Bruce!" Lincoln said, sending out Fearow and Bruce, "Fearow, Bruce, help us search around for the X-Rockets!"
"10-4, Lincoln!" Fearow replied, as she flew off.
"I can use my Supersonic to search for them down here within the trees," Bruce added, sticking with Lincoln and company.
"Probably a good call, Bruce," Lincoln replied.
"What did Bruce say?" Misty asked.
"He suggested that we search around for them on foot while Fearow searches the skies," Lincoln replied.
"That does have merit to it. After all, this forest is fairly dense in some areas, and Fearow won't be able to see through most of the trees," Brock added.
"Alright Bruce, do your thing!" Lincoln said.
"Roger that!" Bruce said, as he began to emit his Supersonic waves, trying to search for the X-Rockets, "I think I heard them this way!" he said, flying down a path in the forest.
"Bruce says he heard them heading this way!" Lincoln said, as they followed after his Crobat.
Later, in a clearing in the forest,
The X-Rockets were admiring their handiwork with the stolen Wartortle and Scyther, now sitting inside of a cage, "Ah, nothing's more gratifying than an evil job well done," Jessie commented.
"Dat's right! And while we can't do anything about the Wartortle since it rightfully belongs to that kid, except sell it on the black market, we can still add Scyther to our roster of power packed Pokemon!" Meowth replied.
"But the question stands of which of us will make that catch?" James asked.
"Well, such a dynamo should go to me! After all, the way it used Swords Dance to block attacks would go over great in Contests!" Jessie proclaimed.
"But hold on! Scyther's cutting capabilities could help us out in our heists with slicing open display cases and vaults! And I can pinpoint the exact weak spots with exact precision!" James argued.
"Be that as it may, I still want to make that catch!" Jessie argued back.
"Then why don't we settle this the old fashioned way?" James suggested, holding out his fist.
"My thoughts exactly," Jessie replied, holding out her fist.
"AND… IT'S ROCK PAPER SCISSORS!" the two of them chanted, as they both threw rock.
"Now I make you look!" Jessie said, pointing to the sky.
"ROCK PAPER SCISSORS!" the two of them chanted, this time, they both threw paper.
"Now I make YOU look!" James said, pointing off to the side.
"This is truly a new low point for us," Meowth groused, as his cohorts kept playing rock paper scissors.
"Here you guys are!" the X-Rockets then saw Lincoln and company standing before them.
"What the…?! How'd you find us so quickly?!" Jessie exclaimed.
"It doesn't matter how we found you, we're not letting you steal Raphael or Scyther," Lincoln said defiantly.
"Hate to break it to you kid, but the townsfolk don't care who gets rid of this Scyther as long as it's gotten rid of. And what better way than to welcome it into our ranks as a heavy hitter?" Meowth questioned rhetorically.
"That isn't happening! We're taking both of them back now! Goodra, you're up!" Lincoln exclaimed, sending out Goodra.
"Onix, we need your help too!" Brock said, sending out Onix.
"We can't let them take away what we wrongfully stole! Fomantis, get in there!" Jessie exclaimed, sending out Fomantis.
"Larvitar, show them what for!" James exclaimed, sending in Larvitar.
"Misty, take Pikachu and Bruce around and try to break Raphael and Scyther loose," Lincoln whispered.
"Got it!" Misty said, as she retreated back into the forest with Pikachu and Bruce to get out of the X-Rocket's line of sight.
"Goodra, use Muddy Water!" Lincoln called out. Goodra then summoned Muddy Water to swirl up Larvitar, damaging it in the process.
"Fomantis, use Leaf Blade!" Jessie called out. Fomantis faced Onix, and charged at it, ready to use Leaf Blade, when…
"Use Head Smash, Onix!" Onix then used Head Smash against Fomantis, sending it back into a tree.
"Grr, alright, then try taking on my Barboach!" Jessie growled, sending out Barboach.
"Hey, that's not fair, sending in two Pokemon at once!" Lincoln called out.
"So what? We're cheaters!" Jessie boasted.
"That's right! In fact, go, Koffing!" James exclaimed, sending out Koffing.
"Lincoln, if they're going to use two Pokemon each, then lets use two Pokemon of our own and take them on individually," Brock suggested, sending out his Shelgon.
"Sounds good!" Lincoln said, just as Fearow rejoined them, "Thanks for looking around for us, Fearow."
"Anytime. Are we to be taking on these two?" Fearow asked, eyeing Larvitar and Koffing.
"That's right. I know you must be tired from all that flying around, but do you think you're up for a battle?" Lincoln asked.
"Of course! All the training I've done with the others back at the lab has done wonders for my stamina," Fearow replied.
"Alright, then let's see what you've got! Use Steel Wing!" Lincoln called out. Fearow swooped down at both of James' Pokemon, slamming into them with Steel Wing.
"Don't take that kind of guff from that brat! Larvitar, use Rock Slide, and Koffing, use Sludge Wave!" James called out. Larvitar summoned Rock Slide, and began hurling the attack at both Fearow and Goodra, while Koffing fired off a wave of sludgy energy.
"Fearow, land next to Goodra! Goodra, use Aqua Tail and protect yourself and Fearow from those attacks!" Lincoln instructed. Fearow landed next to Goodra, just as she got on all fours, and began twirling her tail around while using Aqua Tail, blocking both attacks, "Awesome!"
"A move like that could be great in contests!" Brock commented, as he battled Jessie.
"You should really pay attention to the opponent before you! Barboach, use Mud Shot, and Fomantis, use Leafage!" Jessie ordered. Barboach fired off Mud Shot at Shelgon, who took the attack head on, while Onix did its best to defend itself against Fomantis' Leafage with its massive tail.
"Alright, Onix, use Slam, and Shelgon, use Dragon Breath!" Brock called out. Onix then slammed its tail on the ground, separating Fomantis and Barboach, while Shelgon blasted both of them with Dragon Breath. It was then that Shelgon, Fomantis, Barboach, Koffing and Larvitar all began to glow brightly.
"Those lights! Does that mean…?!" Lincoln questioned.
"That's right! They're all beginning to evolve!" Brock replied. Shelgon grew much larger, and took on a more blue, draconic shape, even sprouting a large pair of red wings. Fomantis grew much taller, had more pink on it, and appeared to now be wearing what could be described as disco pants, while also having longer sickle like arms. Barboach evolved into a fairly large, blue catfish Pokemon with long yellow whiskers. Larvitar was now a silver, cocoon-like creature. Finally, Koffing evolved into a Weezing.
"Whoa, so many evolutions in one day!" Jessie gushed, enamored by her newly evolved Pokemon.
"But what are they now?" Lincoln questioned, as he scanned each on.
"Salamence, the Dragon Pokemon, a Dragon and Flying Type first discovered in the Hoenn Region. Salamence is the fully evolved form of Bagon. Its strong desire to fly caused a mutation in its genetic structure that caused it to sprout wings. In its joy to finally be able to fly, it flies around, spewing flames from its mouth, while also unintentionally starting forest fires.
Lurantis, the Bloom Sickle Pokemon, a Grass Type first discovered in the Alola Region. For self-protection, it pretends to be a Bug Type Pokemon. Both of its arms bear keen edged petals.
Whiscash, the Whiskers Pokemon, a Water and Ground Type first discovered in the Hoenn Region. It is very territorial. It repels foes by setting off that extend over a three-mile radius.
Pupitar, the Hard Shell Pokemon, a Rock and Ground Type first discovered in the Johto Region. It will not stay still, even as a pupa. It already has arms and legs underneath its solid shell, which is as hard as bedrock. By venting pressurized gas, it can launch itself like a rocket," Dexter explained.
"Wow! Talk about power packed! We might stand more of a chance against these two than we thought!" James proclaimed.
"Don't count on it! Fearow, use Aerial Ace on Weezing, and Goodra, Dragon Pulse on Pupitar!" Lincoln called out. Fearow wasted no time in striking Weezing with Aerial Ace, while Pupitar got blasted by Dragon Pulse, sending them flying into James.
"Onix, use Head Smash again! And Salamence, show them your new power with Zen Headbutt!" Brock called out. Onix once again used Head Smash on Lurantis, while Salamence rammed into Whiscash with Zen Headbutt, sending them back into Jessie. Both of them landed on top of Meowth as a result, who was too slow to get away.
"Get off of me!" Meowth yelled.
"Well, excuse us for trying to fend these twerps off!" Jessie snapped, clearly annoyed by Meowth.
"Alright, now lets send them flying! Goodra, Dragon Pulse!" once again, Goodra fired off Dragon Pulse, blasting the X-Rockets and their Pokemon, far away from the forest.
"Drat! We were so close to having that Scyther as part of the team!" Jessie whined.
"Well, our Pokemon did evolve today, so we at least have that to walk away with," James replied.
"Except you're forgetting that we're blasting off again!" Meowth yelled, as they disappeared into the wild blue yonder.
"Good riddance to bad rubbish," Lincoln commented, turning his attention back to Raphael and Scyther, "How are you both handling?"
"Apart from being shanghaied by a bunch of third-rate loser excuses for criminals, and being stuck in a cage with the same bug I was planning to flatten, I've been better," Raphael sarcastically remarked.
"I have to say, human, your battling style was similar to how I used my Swords Dance to defend. I'm quite impressed with your Goodra's Aqua Tail. You've earned my respect for your ingenuity," Scyther replied.
"Well, it pays to think outside the box, especially when it comes to defensive strategies," Lincoln replied, as Misty emerged from the foliage with Pikachu and Bruce.
"Glad you guys took care of the X-Rockets before I got here," Misty commented.
"It will make getting them out of there easier," Lincoln replied, turning to his Pokemon, "Alright, Pikachu, use Iron Tail, Bruce, Cross Poison, Fearow, Aerial Ace, and Goodra, use Poison Tail!" all four of his Pokemon launched their respective attacks on the cage, shattering through the bars with ease, allowing both captive Pokemon to escape, "Alright!"
"And now that we've escaped, while you DID earn my respect, we can resume with me trying to oust you from MY territory!" Scyther said, leaping back a good distance.
"I figured as much. You still up to battle, Raphael?" Lincoln asked.
"Heh, being stuck in that cage hasn't dampened my battling spirit! In fact, now that we're out, I want to kick his buggy ass even more now!" Raphael replied, raring to go. Scyther then lunged at Raphael, swinging at him with a Slash attack, when…
"Protect, quick!" Raphael surrounded itself with Protect, causing Slash to bounce off, "Now, use Aqua Jet!" Raphael summoned Aqua Jet, and rocketed at Scyther, slamming into the Mantis Pokemon, sending it skidding back a few feet.
"Not too shabby. But I got better!" Scyther said, as it began to whip up a whirlwind around it.
"Watch out Lincoln! Scyther's getting ready to use Razor Wind!" Brock warned.
"We need to be careful, Raphael! That move's a strong one!" Lincoln called out to his Wartortle.
"Well, I've got strong moves of my own as well!" Raphael replied. Lincoln smirked at what Raphael was implying.
"Yeah, we do! So, lets show Scyther a thing or two with Water Pledge!" Lincoln called out. With him glowing blue and flexing his arms, Raphael punched the ground, causing geysers to erupt from the ground, surrounding Scyther and damaging it in the process.
"Heh, that move had some real power behind it! However, it wasn't enough to stop this!" Scyther exclaimed, firing off Razor Wind, striking Raphael dead on, sending him skidding back a few feet.
"Damn bug bastard! He's really not letting up here!" Raphael growled, panting from exhaustion. Lincoln noted that Scyther was looking tired as well.
"Even so, Scyther seems to be nearing its limit as well," Lincoln replied.
"Its times like this that I wish my Ability was Torrent! Then all my Water Moves would be super charged!" Raphael growled.
"We just need to strike quickly and hard. Once Scyther's weak enough, I'll go in for the capture," Lincoln replied.
"Assuming you CAN strike me! I'm way too fast for shell boy to take down! Even chubby there would be faster!" Scyther taunted, glaring down at Goodra, who took great offense at that.
"Oh yeah?! I'll show you what I can do!" Raphael yelled, as he began to glow brightly.
"Whoa, now Raphael's evolving!" Lincoln exclaimed, as Raphael grew much larger, and his fluffy tail shrunk down to a little nub. When the light died off, sections of Raphael's shell above his shoulders opened up, allowing what looked like cannon blasters to pop out.
"Blastoise has been registered to your Pokedex," Dexter chimed.
"Whoa, so that's Blastoise!" Lincoln said, as he scanned his newly evolved Pokemon.
"Blastoise, the Shellfish Pokemon, a Water Type first discovered in the Kanto Region. Blastoise has water spouts that protrude from its shell. These water spouts are very accurate. They can shoot water bullets with such accuracy that they can strike empty cans from a distance of over 160 feet," Dexter explained.
"Now that might just be what we need to bring down Scyther! Alright Raphael, use Water Pulse!" Lincoln called out.
"Sounds good!" Raphael replied, as he fired Water Pulse from both of the water spouts. Scyther dodged one of the shots, only to get hit by the other.
"Alright, now finish it off with Hydro Pump!" Lincoln called. Raphael then fired streams of water from its twin cannons, which merged into a mighty stream of water that sent Scyther back into and through a tree. Scyther struggled to get back up, "Now it's my turn!" Lincoln said, throwing an Ultra Ball at Scyther, sucking it in. The ball rocked once, twice, and upon the third time, snapped shut, signaling a completed capture.
"Scyther has been registered to your Pokedex," Dexter announced.
"Phew, that Scyther was a tough one!" Lincoln commented, as the Ultra Ball holding his newly caught Scyther warped away.
"At least now the villagers can gather what they need to make their medicines without any hassle," Misty commented.
"We should head back and tell them the good news. Good work everybody, now go ahead and get some rest," Lincoln said, recalling his Pokemon.
"The same goes for the two of you as well," Brock said, recalling Onix and Salamence. With that done, the three of them made their way back to the village.
Back at the new (still technically) Loud House,
"Too bad that Lincoln lost in that last match, and after Primeape learned that Rage Fist move too," Sharon commented.
"Still, it was a different experience, seeing how he's been progressing during his time over there," Rita replied.
"Lot of those Pokemon things looked like they ain't nobody's foo!" Mr. D-Ragon commented.
"And that last one he battled looked almost like one of the ones we saw him with when he came to the Monster Realm," Glam added.
"Well, hopefully we'll get more data the next time he calls. Speaking of which," Lisa said, handing Shane a USB stick.
"What's this?" Shane asked.
"That USB Drive contains ALL of the information Lincoln's been sending over since starting out. I figured you'd all like to see for yourselves what kinds of Pokemon he's encountered, as well as a supercut of the Gym Battles he's been a part of," Lisa replied.
"Hmm, that would be an enlightening experience," Shelby commented.
"I'd love to see the different kinds he's seen!" Emily chirped.
"Maybe when we're all back home tomorrow, we can sift through the data," Lance suggested.
"Sounds like a plan… AFTER the kids have done their homework and chores," Sharon replied.
"Eh, fair enough," Shane replied, as he pocketed the USB.
"Hey, any chance you got a second drive? Our curiosity has been piqued by all this talk as well," Taylor asked Lisa.
"I had a feeling you'd ask that," Lisa replied, pulling out an additional USB and handed it to her.
"Still, I liked how that one Pokemon delivered those kicks. Y'know, the one with the REALLY stretchy legs?" Lana commented.
"Yeah, it did look formidable. Hmm, I wonder if Lincoln can catch one in the wild?" Lisa wondered.
"Well, either way, we'd better get back home. We've got another busy day ahead of us tomorrow," Lance commented, as he and his family and homestay students stood up.
"We need to get going too. We've got a busy day tomorrow ourselves," Katie said, as she collected Mikey, and stood up with Taylor and their Siren homestays.
"We understand. It was very nice meeting you both, Glitz, Glam," Rita said to the Sirens.
"It was very nice to meet you as well, Mrs. Loud," Glam replied. Rita felt she had to correct her about her now being divorced, but chose against it, since it was going to take a few days for the name change process to be completed for her to take back her maiden name. The guests all left the house.
"Take care on your way home!" Rita called out, waving goodbye to the guests, as they drove off to go back home. Rita retreated back into her house, and locked the door, "Ok, so now they know how well Lincoln's doing."
"Yeah, Mom. Didn't he say he'd call again when he's at Fuchsia City?" Luna asked.
"That's right. And he's hoping that he'll be there by the weekend to call again. Hopefully, we can get Lance and Sharon to come over to talk to him," Rita replied. Lori and Lynn looked tense. They knew that things would still be too awkward for them to legitimately talk to Lincoln face to face. Rita, noticing their tense looks, spoke to them, "And Lori and Lynn? Like last time, if you feel you're not ready to talk to your brother again, then don't force yourself to. After all, he said he'll talk to you both ONLY when you're good and ready."
"We know, Mom, but how can we face him after we said and did all those horrible things to him? And for what? Just for standing up to us?" Lori slumped in her seat.
"Lori has a point, y'know? Lincoln may have been willing to talk things out with you guys, but when we got banished back here by that book of yours, Mom, he said he no longer considered us family," Lynn added.
"It was more than likely a heat of the moment type thing. A lot of people say harsh, and sometimes cruel things when angered or hurt by others. We were all worried about talking to him when WE apologized to him too. We thought that he'd chew us out and decide to cut all proverbial ties with us completely," Lisa replied.
"The point is you both are just now feeling guilty about what you did to Lincoln. We were the same way when we talked to him. But while we were talking to him, we made sure to choose our words as carefully as possible, as not to potentially upset him," Luna added.
"You just have to choose what you want to say in as civil a manner as possible. None of your typical high and mighty or boastful attitudes. Just be sincere about it. It worked for us, after all," Lucy added.
"You both can mull over what you want to say to each other as the days pass with each other. But for right now, it's a school night, and it's time for you all to get to bed," Rita said, causing her daughters to disperse back to their bedrooms. Lori and Lynn were about to ascend the stairs, when their mother called out, "Oh, Lori? Lynn? If the two of you want, we can help you out with what you should say and HOW to say it."
"That'd be great, Mom. Thank you," Lori replied, as she and the former athlete ascended the staircase. Rita then followed her daughter's lead and went back to her bedroom.
Back at the village,
The villagers couldn't be happier if they tried. When Lincoln and company arrived back in town with the news about Scyther, they were overjoyed, "You three have done us a tremendous favor! Now our village will flourish again!" the village leader said.
"It was no problem at all," Lincoln replied. One of the villagers then handed them what appeared to be some kind of gourd shaped bottle.
"Please, take this Heal Power as our thanks. It's the most we can offer right now," he said.
"Oh, thank you so much!" Brock replied, accepting the Heal Powder. Just then, a bright light erupted from Lincoln's backpack.
"Whoa, could that be the Egg?!" Lincoln exclaimed, digging it out. And sure enough, it was his egg, glowing brighter than before.
"I think it's about to hatch!" Misty exclaimed. Not needing any instructions, Lincoln instinctively placed the case on the ground and took the glass dome off, just as the Egg began to crack and change shape into a familiar shape. The light died off, revealing an Eevee.
"Oh wow! My Egg hatched into an Eevee!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"Mmm, and a healthy looking one at that!" the village leader said, taking a closer look at Eevee. Lincoln then knelt down to look at Eevee.
"Hi there, Eevee. My name's Lincoln Loud. Starting today, you're going to be part of the family," Lincoln said, introducing himself. Eevee's only response was to roll around on its back, "I'll take that as a 'yes'," he then got the Pokeball on the case, and used it to catch his newly hatched Eevee.
"Eevee has been registered to your Pokedex," Dexter stated.
"It'll be a great experience for you to raise your first baby Pokemon, Lincoln," Misty commented.
"Yeah. I'm just hoping Eevee and the rest of my Pokemon will all get along," Lincoln replied, as they got on their bikes, and pedaled off for their next destination; Stone Town.
For the time being, Eevee, until it's gained enough experience, will be a set member of Lincoln's party. And I'll also open up a new Poll. This one will determine what form of Eevee should Lincoln's evolve into, or if it should stay an Eevee. Anyhow, the next three chapters will be taking place in Stone Town, while Lincoln and friends attend an Evolution Party, learn to master Mega Evolution (Brock and Misty as well), and the Pokemon Contest. And I've already decided who'll participate in which round for it.
