Del stared out at the dark field from the back-door of his house dressed in dark sweatpants and a t-shirt while running a hand through his short black hair.

looking up he saw a blue light streaking across the night sky gowning brighter and larger as it got closer.

"What the hell?"

stepping out the door into the back garden he stumbled as whatever it was crashed into the field behind his house causing a few tremors and setting someone's car alarm off.

Blinking spots from his eye's Del yelped as a smaller blue light flew from the crash sight and stopped in front of him making him step back and almost trip over the open door behind him.

"Is that a ring?"

reaching out Del caught the ring as it stopped glowing and dropped into his hand.

Lifting it up to eye height Del saw that the ring was blue with a circular shape with two prongs going up and down ending in a line, with two more prongs just below the top one going out to the side with lines curving round almost touching the bottom prong embossed on the top.

Without conscious thought Del slipped the ring on his right ring finger and watched as it adjusted to fit him perfectly.

"In fearful day, in raging night, With strong hearts full, our souls ignite, When all seems lost in the War of Light, Look to the stars, For hope burns bright!"

shaking himself Del blinked a few times.

"why the hell did I say that?"

Before he could think of anything else Del was enveloped in a blue glow once it died down he was now covered in a skin tight suit which was mostly Black but with Blue boots, blue gloves, and Blue around his chest and shoulders with symbol from the ring now in the centre of his chest.

Blinking spot's from his eyes for the second time that night Del stared at the suit he was now wearing before he was surrounded by a blue bubble and felt himself being pulled up off the ground by the ring still on his finger.

"ah shit!" Del yelled before he shot off into the night sky.

"How do you steer this damn thing"? Del yelled as he shot through the air still being pulled along by his ring.

He had cleared the town he lived in and was now heading for space; in fact he could see the Justice League's space station just ahead before he could register anything else he slammed into a glowing green net.

"I've got you just calm down" a young woman called out to him.

Taking a few deep breaths Del managed to turn to face the voice and saw a young woman of Hispanic descent, dressed very similar to him but green instead of blue with glowing green highlights in her long wavy hair.

"Thank," Del panted out "you're one of the Green Lanterns right? The one who normally works around Bludhaven?"

"Yeah and sometimes Gotham or Metropolis if anything comes up while me Batgirl and Supergirl are hanging out, so you calmed down now?"

Del tok a few more deep breaths then nodded while Green Lantern dismissed the net she had used to catch him.

"Thanks for that"

"No problem when I first got my ring I nearly smashed into a few satellites, didn't anyone from the Blue Lantern corps show you how to control your ring?"

Del just shook his head "I literally just saw this ring crash about five minutes ago. Next thing I know I'm reciting some oath, my clothes have shifted into this uniform and then I go flying off in a blue bubble."

The youngest and only female Green Lantern on earth winced at that.

"Well that's not good, ok I'm probably not the best person to explain all this I've never even meet a Blue Lantern before so I'm not completely sure if your ring works different to mine or not", pausing she pinched her nose, "ok first let's go back to your home so we can find your'e power battery every member of each of the others corp's I've meet had one so that should be the same for you."

Taking a few more deep breaths Del focused on home and this time managed to slowly float back down towards the earth.

"So I know the whole secret identity thing but as you properly just stopped me from crashing in to a star or something I'm Del by the way"

She just floated alongside before smillingat him.

"Nice to meet you Del my name is Jessica or in costume Green Lantern not Green Lantern Woman as some in the media call me to help tell myself and the two male Green Lantern's on Earth apart in the news"

"Yeah," Del replied with a wince "that never made sense to me. I mean just show a picture and everyone would know which Green Lantern they are talking about, so I assume my name based on the colour of my ring and suit would be Blue Lantern?"

"Correct, the other corp's that I have personally met are a Red, Yellow and Violet but people using Violet power Ring's go by the name Star Sapphire."

Del just nodded as they finally landed by his house and after a moment started walking towards where he had seen the ring crash before they both floated over his back fence and started walking in the open field beyond it.

After a few moments of walking they found what looked like an old blue train lantern with the same symbol as on his ring and costume.

"You will want to find somewhere safe but easy to get to to keep that, personally I keep mine in a safe in the back of my closet at home"

Del just nodded while picking the lantern up.

"So, any idea how I can get someone to show me how to use this ring?"

"I'll get in touch with the guardian's and find out what Planet the Blue Lanterns are based from, then myself or one of the other Green Lantern's can help you get there"

Glowing green Jessica floated up into the air.

"For now I'd suggest you get some rest after hiding your lantern"

After watching Jessica float away and taking a moment to admire how she filed out her uniform Del headed back to his house.

Thinking for a moment Del managed to make his uniform disappear leaving him in the sweatpants and t-shirt he had been wearing earlier.

"Well this wasn't how I expected my day to end"
