Chapter 11: Man of the Apes
Upon falling out of the Ebon Hawk, the group got separated. Sora, Dolly, and Sparky free-fell right through the roof of a long-abandoned treehouse.
Sora: (Groaning) Oww… My head.
Sora looked down and saw he landed on Dolly.
Sora: Dolly! (Getting off her) I'm sorry! (As Dolly was getting up) Anything broken?!
Dolly: (Sore) No, I'm good. It's my job to keep you safe.
Sparky looked around and said the others weren't with them.
Sora: Donald? Goofy? Stone?
Windsor came out from Dolly's jacket and squeaked in worried, like he could sense something.
Dolly: (Picking up what he was saying) I know, I feel it, too. Guys, why is it so quiet here?
Sora and Sparky started feeling uneasy, too. On the walkway above, the leopard Sabor was stalking them. Silent like a ghost, Sabor circled above them, licking his lips at his next meal and pounced. Windsor, spotting Sabor, pulled on Dolly's left ear which made her do a roundhouse kick and knocked Sabor away. Sora summoned Lady Luck and Sparky surged with electricity.
Dolly: (Drawing Yubashiri) Thanks, Windsor.
Sora charged at Sabor but he swatted him into some crate. Sparky jumped onto Sabor and grabbed his neck. Aggravated, Sabor tried to kick Sparky off like a bucking bronco.
Sparky: (Enjoying himself) YEE-HAW!
Dolly: Ride 'em, cowboy!
Sabor managed to kick Sparky off him and glared at Dolly, like he could sense she was actually a Dalmatian.
Dolly: (Holding Yubashiri downward) Okay, pussycat. Let's settle this rivalry!
Dolly charge at Sabor and he charged too. The two clashed fast and hard. Dodging his fangs and claws slashes, Dolly drove Yubashiri down Sabor's left eye.
Dolly: Aw, kitty got an owie?
Glaring at Dolly with his one good eye, Sabor charged at Dolly but got nailed by fire and electricity.
Sora: (Smug with Sparky) Your enemies are my enemies, Dolly.
Sparky: Zizz-zizz.
Sabor got up with his either burned or puffed up from electricity. Just as they were ready to fight him again, a man wearing only a loincloth carrying a spear came to help. Fending off Sabor's bite, the leopard jumped out a window and ran off.
?: Sabor, danger.
Sora: Uh… Thank you.
Dolly: (Putting Yubashiri back into its sheath) Yeah, thanks.
Sora: What is this place?
?: This place, this place.
The man acted like he could barely understand what they're saying.
Dolly: Uh… Have you seen our friends?
Sora: Yeah, we were with some other people. Have you seen them?
The man just stared blankly at them
Sparky: Naga understands.
?: Friends.
Sora: Right. There's three of them.
Dolly: The loud one is Dona…
Sora and Dolly thought back to the fight and were mad at Donald. He didn't even want to land here if there was a possibility their loved ones were here.
Sora: You know what? Never mind. I'm looking for my friends, Riku and Kairi.
Dolly: And I'm looking for my friend, Roxy.
Dolly figured her family couldn't be in this world given how thick the jungle outside.
?: Look for Riku, Kairi, and Roxy. Friends? Friends, here.
Sora and Dolly grew excited at possibly having a clue.
?:*& %. *& %. Friends here.
Sora: (Looking at his friends who just shrug) Not sure we understand but show us! Take us to our friends.
?: Tarzan. Tarzan go.
Sora: I'm Sora. These are my friends, Dolly and Sparky. Tarzan, go. Us, follow.
Tarzan led the trio out of the Treehouse and down a path. Meanwhile, Goofy and his group were resting by a rock.
Goofy: Gawrsh, where are we?
Stone: (Using his Macrobinoculars) I'm not sure. My scan can't detect any towns or that signal I got earlier.
Goofy: I sure hope Sora and the others are okay.
Donald, equally mad at Sora and Dolly, wasn't worried at all.
Donald: Aw, who needs them? We can find the king without them.
Stone: (Raising his Macrobinoculars) Lieutenant, you suggesting we leave them here?
Donald: I'm considering it.
Stone secretly switched his S-5 heavy blaster pistol to stun mode. He wasn't about to betray his General. Donald reached for his staff and instead touched a young gorilla. Both screamed and the gorilla ran off, leaving behind a data disc. On the path behind, they heard someone coming. Stone picked up the disc as a man came up. He wore yellow & tan clothing and held a shotgun in his hands. Meanwhile, Sora's party were sliding down from the trees via smooth branches.
Dolly: (Sliding) This is so awesome!
Sora jumped and slid on his hands then jumped back to his feet. Dolly slid perfectly passed Sora with Sparky following her. They soon came to the ground at what looked like a research camp. Tarzan landed perfectly to the ground, having slid across vines for most of his life.
Dolly: Looks like we have company here.
Tarzan led them into the tent where a red hair woman wearing a simple red and white dress was working on a projector.
Tarzan: Jane.
The newly address Jane turned around and saw her company.
Jane: (In a detectible British Accent) Tarzan! Oh, and who are these?
Sora: Uh, hi there. I'm…
Jane: Oh, you speak English!
Dolly: Well, two of us do.
Sparky shrugged his shoulders.
Jane: Well, that means none of you are related to Tarzan. Are you all here to study to study the gorillas?
?: Highly doubtful.
The man from before led Stone and company inside.
Goofy: Fellas!
Sora: Guys!
Sora grabbed Donald's hands but both them and Dolly immediately looked from each other in anger.
?: A circus of clowns. Not much use for hunting gorillas.
Dolly suddenly had a bad feeling about the man. She looked at him out of the corner of his eye and thought he had the word 'Sleaze' written across his forehead.
Jane: (Sternly) Mr. Clayton, we're studying them, not hunting them. This is researched.
Dolly: (Quietly) Sora, I don't trust that man. We should keep an eye on him.
Jane: Well, the more the merrier.
Sora and Donald: I'm staying.
Sora and Dolly were surprised.
Goofy: Stone, show them what we found.
Stone dug into his bag and showed the data disk.
Sora: A data disk!
Stone: Found it in the jungle, General. Couldn't have been there for more than a few hours.
Sora: So that means…
Donald: The king could be here.
Dolly: And you didn't wanna check this place out.
Donald: (Mad) Whatever. We've gotta work together to look for him… For now.
Dolly: (Reluctant) … Fine, truce.
Sora: Yeah, you can tag along.
