Chapter Thirty-Three
Distrust and Confusion
There were many situations that Lily could get out of. Being surrounded by a group of heroes, avoiding the yakuza group that cost her right arm as a kid, flying through the air to avoid the police…Though trying to avoid answering questions from her classmates about what was going on was something that she couldn't avoid. Especially seeing how they're stuck in a singularity and the only way to escape was to kill the corpse king…she was sure that he or she could kill her ten times over if possible from what Jack told her about the king. Within the past few hours after everyone had a chance to recover and Demeter treated their wounds with the help of her magic, Lily and Artoria were standing in front of the classroom they were in as her classmates were staring at her as if she was giving a lecture to the class.
"Okay…So I know a lot of you who aren't grand servants are wondering what's going on, right?"
"No shit captain states the obvious," Bakugo said as he leaned against the seat he was sitting in. "Weird shit has been happening ever since you came to our class. Specifically, those five extra that you changed with your quirk." He said before pointing at Momo, Uraraka, Mina, Kaminari, and a passed-out Mineta who was being snuggled by Artemis. "You were also acting strange when you saw that weird tentacle-looking villain that warped up to this place. Are you in league with that villain?"
"If I was in league with the demon god pillar, then you all would be dead by now," Lily said as she noticed Artoria floating in front of her as her hands began to glow. "Look, what I'm about to say and show may be hard for you to believe. But this is the actual truth about what's going on in the shadows of hero society." She said as the divine spirit began to show images of Goetia and the other beast. "What if I say that there is such a thing called magic that you would see in movies or fairy tale books? You know, like the legend of King Arthur and the holy sword Excalibur? Or gods that you thought were just made up in different religions being real?"
"I say you're full of shit and just making it up," Bakugo commented as Lily rolled her eyes.
"Okay, other than that prideful jackass who doesn't care about anyone but himself, what about everyone else?" She asked before noticing mixed expressions on their faces. "Yeah, I kind of figured you would have mixed thoughts about it. But given what you all have seen and experienced, the world of magic is real and I am a prime example/by-product of magic being real along with the servants."
"Do you think that we're that gullible to believe that magic is real?" Todoroki asked. "You could be just saying nonsense so that your allies can come and-"
"Aizawa, care to help prove that what I'm saying is true?" Lily asked as Aizawa raised an eyebrow at her. "Just use your quirk to erase my quirk just to prove what I'm saying about magic being real."
"If this will make things move faster, then fine." He said while looking at the bunny girl for a moment before activating his quirk. The moment he did that, Lily raised her hand and summoned a ball of dark energy into her hand, which took everyone other than the Grand Servants, Servants, and Aizawa by surprise.
"I mentioned that I can change a person's body…that was pretty much a lie. If I had a quirk like that, then Aizawa's quirk would've made this ball of energy I'm holding disappear."
"It should also be known that Aizawa used his quirk on Lily in secret during her battle with Todoroki," Artoria said as it took Lily and the others by surprise. Aizawa soon turned his attention onto the divine spirit who looked back at him with a small smile on her face.
"How did you know?"
"While Lily isn't a full-fledged god that can sense people or read minds, I can." She said which took everyone by surprise, though it did cause Aizawa to speak up and look over at Mina.
"That would explain how you were doing so well all of a sudden in your academics." He said as the pink girl whistled innocently as Kama appeared on Mina's shoulder with a smirk on her face.
"Are you kidding me? Given what they're studying, can you not blame them for getting a little help from us? I mean, have you seen what the weird guy with the messed-up mouth teaches? You tell me you wouldn't have problems doing all that without help and passing."
"She does have a point," Momo said. "I can understand that we'll need mathematics in the line of work we're doing, but even at a high school level that's a bit much for Mr. Ectoplasm."
"...Given how Ectoplasm is, I can understand why you would do that to help them." He said as Midoriya spoke up.
"If you don't mind me asking Mr. Aizawa, why would you do something like that in secret?" Midoriya asked as Aizawa let out an annoyed sigh and nodded.
"I already stated that I was against letting her into the school. Mainly because she's the villain killer. Known for eluding the police, killing five hundred people, and assaulting multiple pro-heroes. If I can cancel out her quirk, then it wouldn't be an issue if she were to attack the school or try to escape."
"Your faith in me is so rewarding," Lily said sarcastically before making the ball disappear. "Now just because I fall under the mutant category given my rabbit ears and tail, he would still have been able to cancel my quirk seeing how I was emitting that ball of energy. But seeing how he couldn't, then that would mean a few things."
"That you're either using a tool to emit that, or magic is real," Midoriya said as Lily nodded.
"If you want to make sure that I'm not carrying a device on me, I can take my clothes off if you want to examine me~" She offered as she started to attempt to unbutton her shirt, only for Mina to stop her by appearing next to her and grabbing her hands.
"They believe you!" Mina said before looking at her classmates. "Right?"
"Y-Yes, we believe you. N-No needs to take your clothes off or anything." Iida said before adjusting his glasses and clearing his throat. "P-Please continue with your explanation if you would?"
"Good," Lily said before turning her attention to the images Artoria was presenting to them. "What you see here are the images of what Artoria calls, The Beast. They're the evils of humanity that represent the sin of humans. So far, seven out of the fourteen Beasts have manifested on earth. Might be more, but so far these are the ones we have information on." She said as the divine spirit enlarged the image of Goetia. "The one who ordered the demon god pillar to send us here is named Goetia, the beast of pity."
"That's the villain that sent us here? He looks just about our age." Jirou said. "How can someone like him have a quirk that could do something like this?"
"He doesn't look that tough. If he's the threat, then he'll be easy to take down." Bakugo said as Lily rolled her eyes at his comment.
"Correction, Jirou. It's magic that he's using, not a quirk." Lily said before looking at Bakugo as Artoria showed two images of Goetia's human and monster forms. "That is his premature form, his mature form is much more deadly. For some reason, due to this planet having little to no magic, they're reduced to being in their premature form. But should they find a way to gather magical energy from the planet…well…it's going to be much harder to take him down if that were to happen. Like I told Kirishima on the way here, Goetia was created by a man by the name of King Solomon, the king of mages from the planet where the servants come from. Goetia was supposed to be a system to overlook humanity the moment he died, but that ended up backfiring due to Goetia only viewing the worst of humanity. Specifically murder, rape, war, and that kind of stuff. So, as a means to rewrite the concept of death and create a new version of humans, he enacted the order that involved the incineration of humanity." Artoria's hand lit up for a moment to show an image of a planet slowly burning up as it was set ablaze.
"One person…did all that?" Todoroki asked as Artoria nodded. "That's impossible."
"Given how Goetia took over the body of the king of all magic, it's possible for him to do that." She said before making the planet disappear. "His plan would have succeeded were it not for the effort of a lone human and their friends to fight against Goetia in undoing the damage he caused. But now your planet is going to suffer the same fate if not worse."
"So…you mean to tell me that you're…a grand servant, sent here by the planet to save humanity from a group of villains called the Beasts?" Jirou asked as Artoria nodded.
"If we must use those terms, then yes." She said before looking at the pseudo servants. "The Grand Servant's job is to defeat the beasts. And the planet has chosen you six to be its champions."
"I have a question if you don't mind me asking," Midoriya asked as Artoria turned her attention to the boy. "The images that you showed of the Beasts that have appeared in this world. One of them looked almost similar to the person on Mina's shoulder. Is there a reason why they look so familiar?"
"Okay before you assume I'm some kind of spy or something. Keep in mind that you all can't do anything to me without hurting Mina. So if you will let me explain, then it'll ease all your minds a bit."
"Explain." Aizawa said as Kama spoke.
"Well, I am a fragment of the Beast known as Mara/Kama. While I represent the good side of the Indian god of love Kama. Mara represents the side of the demon that took over my body. Which represents the evil side."
"So you're on the side of the heroes?" Iida asked as Kama waved her hand sideways.
"Well, I am a heroic spirit summoned by the planet to save it. So I'm on the side of saving humanity so long as you don't try and get in our way of saving you all from the beasts."
"I see," Midoriya said as Kama noticed the boy pulling out a notebook to write down what she said. "And what Heroic spirits?"
"We heroic spirits are spirits of heroes who achieved great deeds in life, having to become objects of worship after our deaths. We exist on a higher plane of existence as some categories us closer to elementals than wraiths. To sum it up, we're spirits of the dead or divine spirits woven from the ideals of people from where we came from. Not from this planet."
"How does one become a heroic spirit? I mean I can assume you all become one due to a heroic deed during your time alive, but I have a feeling there's more to it than that?"
"Oh, you have got to be kidding me. You believe what that thing is saying?" Bakugo asked as Kama glared at him.
"This thing has a name, you pathetic excuse of a human." She said, which caused Bakugo to stand up. "You got a problem with what I said? Because it's not far off from the truth given what I'm seeing from reading your mind~"
"Why you little-"
"Enough," Lily said as the two looked over at the bunny girl. "Much as I would love to see Kama beat the crap out of Bakugo, right now isn't the time for us to be fighting among each other. What we need now is to calm down, relax, and try to recover physically and mentally from today's event."
"And you think we can do that given where we are now?" Todoroki asked as Lily rolled her eyes at his question.
"Like it or not, we're all stuck here dumbass. We have no way of contacting the outside world, Kota, Aoyama, Sero, Sato, and Tokoyami are dead, and we're inexperience given how Kaminari, Mina, Mineta, Uraraka, and Momo are or just become the host of the grand servant. To top it all off, we don't know if the Corpse King will come after us."
"...Much as I hate to say this, she's not wrong," Aizawa said as everyone turned their attention to him. "I'm still having a hard time believing all this. But given how we lost Kota, Aoyama, Sero, Sato, and Tokoyami, I'm going to have to believe that what she's saying is true for the most part." He said before looking at Surtr. "You said that the Corpse King is the one keeping us here. Can't you just go to him and defeat him?"
"Even if I was well rested, taking him down would be impossible. Strong as I am, the Corpse King wields the holy lance, rhongomyniad. Though an empty shell of its original form, it is still just as powerful to where even my Noble Phantasm would crumble within a few seconds." She said before looking at Lily and the other Pseudo Servants. "Best bet is to have the Grand Servant assist me in this fight, but something tells me that they're not at the level to match us, Servants."
"Yeah, she's not wrong." Lily agreed as she looked over herself. "If I couldn't stand on my own against another servant, then having us go against the Corpse King would be a small flame trying to survive the winds from a tornado."
"Tsk, some good you extras are," Bakugo said, which caused Lily to deadpan him.
"I'm sorry but what good were you when you fought against the servant that attacked you and the others?" She said which caused Bakugo to glare at her. "Yeah, that's what I thought. Look, I may be good when it comes to fighting against other people. But when it comes to certain servants that can wreck your shit level, I'm not that level yet."
"So what do we do now?" Uraraka asked.
"First, we're going to get some rest. We've all been through hell, some more than others." Aizawa answered before looking at Surtr. "This school has a place for students to sleep in, does it?"
"It does, but Fenrir claimed that place for himself. So unless you guys want to live in a dorm covered in ice, then be my guest." She said, which caused Aizawa to look over at Fenrir who adorably tilted his head. "Gonna have to use this room as a means of a place for you all to sleep in."
"Welp, while you guys are doing that. I'll go make us something to eat." Lily said before making her way to the doorway but paused and looked over at Surtr. "This place does have a working kitchen, does it?"
"Yeah, it does. Just head down the stairs to the first floor and make a right down the hall through the double doors."
"You know how to cook?" Midoriya asked as Lily nodded.
"Of course, I can. What, you think I just steal food and eat garbage for the past couple of years when I lived on the streets? I'll have food ready within an hour or so. While I'm doing that, you guys make this place sleepable when I come back."
"Hey, who died and made you leader!?" Bakugo yelled as Lily rolled her eyes at his comment before answering.
"I'm not claiming leadership, I'm just telling you what you should be doing to contribute to what I'm doing for the class. But if you want to go down that route, need I remind you as to what happened to Uraraka when you possibly took charge as the leader of your group?" She asked as it caused him to flinch at the memory of what happened to him. "Just as I thought."
"I think it would be best if you head to the kitchen to…prepare us a meal," Aizawa said as he looked over at Mina, Kaminari, Uraraka, and Momo. "You four will assist her. It'll lessen the time it would take if she were to cook alone."
"R-Right," Momo said as Lily simply shrugged.
"I suppose that's fair," Lily said before motioning for the four pseudo-servants to follow her to the kitchen. The moment they left, Aizawa let out a sigh of annoyance before looking at the remaining students and servants.
"I'll start moving the desk so I can make room to put the sleeping bags on the ground," Surtr said as she began to move some of the tables around to make more room for them to sleep on the floor. "Fenrir, go patrol the area along with Jack. Like I told her if you see a monster you're free to kill it. But if it's him or the Corpse King, return and inform us so we can run away," She ordered as the wolf nodded and headed off to meet up with Jack.
"Sir, if you don't mind me asking, what is your take on the situation we're in? Do you believe what Lily is saying is true?" Iida asked as the teacher took a seat at the front of the class and rubbed the bridge of his face.
"Of course, he doesn't." Bakugo interrupted. "You expect him, let alone us to believe all that crap about the planet and magic. If that was true, then it would've happened to me given how I'm the best out of this class."
"I'm siding with Lily on this," Toru said as the students turned their attention to her. "Bakugo and the others weren't there when we saw Momo's lifeless body brought back to life. Not to mention that little spirit that appeared next to her didn't seem like it was a quirk or something. So maybe the whole magic and stuff are real from what Lily and her spirit friend said."
"Just…get the room ready for when they return," Aizawa said as he hunched over his seat. "I…need time to think."
"You can't seriously be-"
"Bakugo shut the hell up and do as you're told. Don't think I haven't forgotten what you and Todoroki did. The reason why I haven't said anything about it is that I was hoping to give you both time to process what happened. But if you say anything else that doesn't involve getting this room prepared or how you distrust Lily, then I will have you expelled if we do manage to survive this. Do I make myself clear?" He said which took the other students by surprise by what he said. "I said,'' Do I make myself clear?"
"...Fine," Bakugo said before and the others began fixing up the room as best as they could. While they were doing that, Aizawa took in a deep breath before exhaling and looking out the window.
"Of all the times for All Might be late for class…it had to be today of all things."
