Chapter Thirty-Six

Bonding Level Two

Nighttime had come to the singularity Class 1A was in. After a hearty meal and taking a much-needed shower, and making the room suitable to sleep in, the class soon fell asleep rather quickly than normal. Then again given what they had gone through, it wouldn't surprise anyone if the sound of a bomb being dropped in the distance didn't wake them up for the most part. It is here that we find Lily standing on the rooftop of the school as she stared off at the destruction of what was left of this city. As she was slowly losing herself in her thoughts, her ears twitched upon hearing someone coming up from behind. Turning around, she saw it was Mina who was standing at the doorway wearing her servant attire.

"I had a feeling you would be up here," Mina said before noticing Lily wearing her armor. "I thought you were out of magic to wear that?"

"Oh, I lied. I just wanted to piss off Aizawa and a few other students." Lily answered as a smug grin appeared on her face.

"You're going the extra mile to make people have less expectations of you, aren't you?"

"Of course. As I said, I'm not a hero or a leader. Just a girl trying to survive in this soon-to-be broken world…not the singularity, but the world we come from."

"Yeah, you mentioned that." She said before making her way over to the bunny girl. Though she noticed that she had some dirt on her boots and gauntlets. "Were you out training or something? Because you got some dirt on yourself."

"I made a grave site over at the entrance of the school. Figure we couldn't get our dead classmates' bodies, we could at least give them a burial place to give our respects to." Lily said before noticing a surprised expression on her face. "What?"

"Nothing, just…wow, I was not expecting you to do something like that."

"I may be an ass, but I do give respect to those who deserve it. I would take offense to that if you weren't my friend."

"Okay, okay, sorry for thinking/assuming that…So…Any particular reason why you're up here?"

"Couldn't sleep, so I figured I would try looking at the scenery to try to get to sleep."

"How's that going for you?"

"...Not that helpful if I'm being honest."

"Well, looking at a burning city doesn't make a person calm down…I take it you're worried about tomorrow with the whole changing thing?"

"It's that obvious?"

"Well, I did hear you move around and you told Mineta to go back to sleep…which begs the question why you let him sleep next to you."

"It was either him or Bakugo. And given how if I were to move or walk off, he would try to restrain me...And you would know what would happen to him if he were to do that."

"...Fair enough," Mina said before looking off into the distance. "If you don't mind me asking…what are your thoughts about this?

"Other than trying to survive this hell…pretty much a normal day for me on the streets, but a bit different. Mainly I didn't have to worry about chimeras and skeletons trying to kill me, and I had to save a bunch of people that don't like me…kind of hard on my end because I want to deck Bakugo, Jirou, and Todoroki."

"I can understand that you're a bit annoyed by them, but you know you can't just leave them to die here."

"It's a tempting option…but you're right…I'm still going to deck them in the face if they start something."

"Maybe tell Aizawa that. I'm sure he'll be able to do something about it."

"I doubt he'll be able to do that given how he can't force people to trust each other. I just hope the knight that I summon tomorrow will be more than enough to make up for the lack of teamwork with certain members of this class."

"I suppose, but it never hurts to try, right?" Mina said before sitting next to Lily. "You know, I would never in my entire life find myself in a situation like this."

"What, you mean in this singularity?"

"No…I mean yeah. But I was more referring to us being hosts for gods from another world. This is something you would see in a movie or something." Mina said while looking at her arms. "So…are we gods…or goddesses in this case?"

"I wouldn't say we're gods or goddesses as of yet. But even if we were to reach that state, we can be killed, but with weapons that can kill gods."

"But what would happen if we do reach that state? We would live on forever, and everyone else would be dead…crap, I never took that into account."

"I kind of came to accept that. I mean, I don't have any families or friends other than you and the others…Maybe we can ask Artemis if there's a way to make family members immortal or something once we're out of here."

"You think she would know something about that?"

"Well, she is a goddess who's been around possibly longer than we have. Surely she must have some answers to something like that...You're not planning on making your mother immortal, are you?"

"God no!" Mina said before shivering at the thought of that. "It's bad enough she doesn't want anything to do with me, I don't want to give her a reason to come after me for all eternity."

"I suppose that's fair…Lord knows she would throw a hissy fit if she found out you were friends with the famous villain killer~"

"Oh god, she would blow her lid if she knew that," Mina said with a slight chuckle in her voice. "She would be all like "No daughter of mine is going to be friends with a delinquent. Especially some gutter trash villain."

"I take offense to that. I happen to be very classy for a gutter trash villain~"

"You, classy? I find it hard to believe that given how you walk around showing your breast to just about every boy in school."

"Only because that place is my home for the time being. They should be lucky I don't walk around naked or worse."

"Man, you would make a horrible goddess."

"Oh yeah, not gonna lie about that," Lily said as they both laughed at the idea of Lily being a goddess. The small fit of laughter slowly died down as they turned their attention to the burning city. "So…tomorrow's going to be…kind of chaotic in a sense."

"You mean because of the whole ascension thing?" Mina asked as Lily nodded. "You're scared, aren't you?"

"Who wouldn't be? I mean, did you not hear what Artemis said? For all we know, I could look like a monster, or worse…some eldritch-looking monster with their guts hanging out of their body." Lily said before shivering at the thought of that.

"Okay, now you're just exaggerating that idea. I doubt you would look like an eldritch monster."

"You don't know that. For all we know it could happen, then the next thing you know. The heroes will come after me, then I will have to fight or kill them, and then-" Before Lily could finish her sentence, she felt Mina clap her face within her grasp as she stared at her with a serious expression on her face.

"You're going to be fine, alright? Stop thinking like this. I get that you have a lot going on, especially given where we are, but you need to calm down. You're acting like Mineta when he gets caught looking into the girl's room."

"Right…wait, when did he do that?"

"Doesn't matter, you need to calm down and relax, okay?" Mina asked as Lily stared at her for a moment before nodding. A smile came across her face as the pink girl released her hold on the bunny girl's face. "Good girl, now you need to remember that you have friends that are willing to help you through this, remember?"

"Yeah…" Lily said with slight hesitation but flinched upon seeing Mina glaring at her. "Yes, yes, I know I have friends…just…still need some time to get used to that idea given my upbringing."

"I can let it slide a bit, but that's no excuse. And as your friend, I'm going to keep reminding you of that until it's hammered into your head."

"Noted…um…thanks?" She said before feeling Mina pull her into a hug.

"Don't mention it, you damaged girl," Mina said which caused Lily to deadpan her after being released from the pink girl's hug. "You sleep with a weapon underneath your pillow. You can't deny what I'm saying is true~"

"...Fuck you, I'm going to bed," Lily said before standing up from the edge and beginning to make her way back inside.

"You know I'm right!" Mina yelled as she quickly followed after the bunny girl. "You can't take back what you said before!"

"Fuck you, and you better not try to sneak up on me in the middle of the night. Because I will punch you in the face."

While nighttime spread across the inside of singularity, daytime was present outside in the world where the students and the teacher of U.A. lived. It had only been three hours since the dome appeared where the USJ building used to be. Heroes and policemen were called to the scene and many of them tried their best to penetrate the mysterious dome. Not even the devastating strength of All Might at full max could put a dent in the dome.

"Any word from Aizawa or Thirteen?" Tsukauchi asked as All Might shook his head.

"Still nothing. Whatever this dome is made out of, it would seem to be blocking phone signals." He said before looking over at the dome. "Not even my strongest punches can make a dent in this thing. Anyone else able to make their way inside this dome?"

"From the other heroes that were available, they haven't made any progress on getting through."

"You think a villain is behind this?"

"If so, then they must be very powerful to have a quirk that even you can't break through. For now, I'll have the others scan the area to see if they can find a clue or the person behind the dome." Tsukauchi said as he quickly rushed off to inform the other. As All Might watched him run off, he quickly felt like someone was creeping up from behind him and turned around to see who it was. To his relief, there wasn't anyone behind. But that didn't change his feelings about being watched. He soon looked over the area he was in before heading off to see if any of the other heroes had any luck. As he was walking off, Koyanskaya watched from a distance with a devilish grin on her face. Next to her was Rasputin who watched the heroes as well but with little interest.

"Looks like Goetia made his move. I'm a bit surprised he would go after a small group of children." Koyanskaya said while casually lying along the rooftop they were on.

"But not expected seeing how the grand servants are in the group. Just to make things clear, we have not been given the order to kill them. So I advise you not to do anything that would lead to their destruction, at least not until the other beasts are taken care of."

"Yes, I know. Don't worry, I won't kill them off from the start. Though there's nothing wrong with making their lives insufferable~" She said before standing up.

"Planning on killing their families?"

"Oh heavens no. Killing their families would be too easy, boring, and too common. I need something that would get a rise out of them. I can't just eat the meat without seasoning it, you know~?" She said before snapping her fingers upon having an idea. "Oh, I have an idea~"

"Do you need my assistance?"

"No need. I just need to have the people of the public hero commission make some…alterations to some new information I found." Koyanskaya said before teleporting off. As she leaves the alter ego by himself, a small orb appears next to him.

"Good, you're here. I was beginning to think you were someplace else."

"You asked me to keep an eye on Koyanskaya. So far she seems to be enjoying herself with the system you had us implant on the planet."

"Let her have her fun with the humans. There are many more important matters to attend to. You went over to South Africa to confirm its location."

"If you're referring to Oort of the Cloud, then yes."

"Perfect, then my plans can continue if the grand servants can't kill the other Beasts."

"Are you planning on making your way over to South Africa?"

"No, but I will send one of my other servants to keep watch over Oort until the other beasts are dead. Until then, keep your eyes on the fox and make sure she doesn't do anything that would derail my plan."

"Understood," Rasputin said as the orb disappeared. "Hm, I wonder how things will turn out at the end of this." He said before walking off towards the edge of the building and returning to watch over the heroes near the singularity.
