Elmer saw Bugs later that morning.
"I had a dream the other night," Elmer said.
"What kind of dream was it?"
"About the other screwy rabbit."
"What about him?"
"I don't know. what if my dream does come true from what I am about to share?"
"That'll be the day, Doc. What about it?"
"I remember you saying in the dream that the name of the other screwy rabbit was letter A or something."
"Actually, Doc, that's not the right letter."
"What letter is it then?"
"P, but ends with an A. That's all I am going to tell you. You might even get it wrong if you try to guess."
"So the letter starts with a P. Let me try to guess."
"Sorry, Doc, no guessing. That's for you to find out when he gets here."
"So this other screwy rabbit look like you?" Elmer asked.
"Not really, Doc. You'll also find that out for yourself when he shows up."
"How would he react to the words screwy rabbit?"
"That's a good question, Doc. Let's see for ourselves how he reacts, but I did mention it to him."
"Where is he staying while he's out here?"
"With me. Where else?"
Bugs chewed more on the carrot as he answered these questions that Elmer was asking.
"When is he coming here?"
"He's coming very soon. Then you can let me know when he leaves what you thought about having two of us around."
"I plan to do that. Just what I need is two of them this time."
"This was a surprise, wasn't it?"
"It sure is. Too bad I don't have any relatives for you to meet."
"What happened to them?"
"They're not around anymore, which makes me lonely."
"Sorry to hear that. You did take a guess on the letter of my family member."
"Thank you. I thought it was starting with that letter."
"It was, but you'll never guess the name."
"Why not?"
"Because you'll find out when he gets here shortly. Once he arrives, I'll show up here without him to let you know, and then I will take him over here. How does that sound?"
"Great idea. Let's see how we can handle two screwy rabbits instead of one."
"That's what is going on for a short while, Doc. I know the three of us will get along just fine."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Yes, Doc. He likes the idea of trying to get along with somebody like you for the first time."
"How many other relatives do you have?"
"Just myself. My mother's still around, but she doesn't live with us when I was younger."
"So that means she ran out on you."
"Exactly, Doc. You got the good answer."
"Thank you. What is this other rabbit like? Friendly or not friendly?"
"He's friendly. That's all I can tell you."
"Very nice. I'm going to look forward to it. I didn't want to give you the entire dream I had last night."
"That's all right. You don't have to, and I didn't expect it."
"Good. I thought about not sharing it with you because I didn't know how you would react."
"Now you know, Doc. I'd better get going. Need to meet him very soon."
"So he's coming today?"
"Exactly. That was his plan, and I'm not going to change it. Not even you."
"Why would I change your plans? You're the one who made them up for me to meet another one like you."
"Yes, I did. I'd better get going, but I'll be back like I said."
"I'm not going anywhere. I'll just stay right here."
"Are you sure that you're not going to leave? You should find something else to do instead of wait for me to come back with him. You'll never know what time I will be back when he's ready to meet you."
"I'm fine here, but I do understand that you wouldn't know what time you would come back. Maybe I can try looking for another rabbit while I wait for you."
"Good luck, but you probably won't be able to see one."
"Why do you say that?"
"Because I am usually the only rabbit who does come back and you see me half the time. I'll let you know when I come back."
"All right. I'll be lonely until you come back," Elmer told Bugs.
"Just wait and see," Bugs replied.
"You're exactly right."
