Bugs met his father in his rabbit hole a few hours later.
"You made it!" Bugs said, coming over Phil's way.
"Yes, I did. I expected you to show up and meet me, but you didn't, so this was my best chance."
"That's all right. I did talk with him earlier, so I'll let him know you're finally here."
"What's this guy's name?"
"Elmer Fudd. I've known him for a while."
"Friends?"
"Not really. I'll go see him now and I will be right back."
"All right, Bugs. I can tag along so that way you wouldn't have to make a special trip for me."
"Good point. Follow me, then."
While Bugs went looking for him, Elmer wondered if Phil had made it or not.
"Did the second screwy rabbit show up? I can't wait to see two of them for a change," Elmer told himself.
A few minutes later, Elmer saw Bugs heading over with another rabbit.
Was this the screwy rabbit Bugs mentioned to him? Looked like it.
Elmer looked at Bugs and his visitor.
"You must be the relative," Elmer told him.
"Yes. I'm actually his father, but you can just call me Phil."
"Phillip?"
"No. It's actually Philadelphia."
"Very nice, but you can be called Phil, right?"
"Exactly."
"See, Doc? I told you no guesses since you might be wrong."
"I can see you were right. I couldn't guess that one."
"That's why I said you couldn't guess, Doc."
"How long are you going to be staying here, Phil?" Elmer asked.
"Not very long. Maybe a couple days, but today might be the only chance you and I will be together, Elmer."
Bugs walked over to Elmer and whispered, "Try calling him screwy rabbit, Doc. Let's see how he would react to that."
"Let's try it," Elmer whispered back.
Both Bugs and Phil had carrots with them.
"I see there are two screwy rabbits instead of one," Elmer said, continuing the conversation.
Both he and Bugs saw the look on Phil's face. He looked surprised that somebody called him a screwy rabbit, but this is the first time he's heard this one. Just wait until he gets home and his friends would laugh about it.
"What did he just call me?" Phil asked.
"Screwy rabbit. Doc calls me this all the time. Right, Doc?"
"Yes," Elmer replied.
"See, there you go," Bugs told his father.
"We can stay for a while, Bugs. I like this guy."
"Watch out. He might even try to shoot you, but like I have said, I never die when he tries to shoot."
"Try me," Phil said to Elmer.
"All right. One, two, three."
Both Phil and Bugs bent down so that way Elmer would be sure to miss them, which he did.
"You missed again, Doc."
"I always miss. I need to get something right at some point."
"You like to call him Doc?" Phil asked Bugs.
"Sure. Why not? I call him that all the time, but we're used to it."
"Just having fun is all," Phil agreed.
"Yes," Elmer replied.
They all decided to chat for about a couple hours so Phil and Elmer could know each other a bit.
That's when Phil and Bugs decided it was time to leave.
"It was nice to meet you, Elmer. Take care, all right?"
"Yes, screwy rabbit. I will."
Phil still had that surprised look on his face, but didn't say anything to what Elmer had called him.
Elmer figured maybe when Phil gets home again, his friends would have a good laugh about it, and he was exactly right.
"I'll just spend the rest of my time here with you, Bugs. Today was enough for hanging out with that Elmer Fudd character."
"I'll be sure to tell him you liked meeting him."
"I did. I came out here to spend time with you instead of a friend."
"That's what you're here for to meet a friend that is called Doc."
They both laughed.
"When would you see him again?" Phil asked.
"Not sure. Maybe after you get back home, then I will tell him about our time together."
"Sounds like a plan to me, Bugs. Let's go see what else there is to find besides your friend."
"Nothing much, but since you just arrived, this would be something new because you don't come over here very often."
"Right. I like this for a change. Let's go somewhere else and see what we can come up with. Good thing we both survived Elmer's shooting."
"What did you think of what he called you?" Bugs asked.
"You mean screwy rabbit?"
"Yes."
"New one to me. My friends would really get a laugh about it."
"That's because it's worth sharing."
"Yes," Phil agreed.
"I'll introduce you to more of my friends next time we see each other. Elmer's the only one I want so far."
"All right. I'm ready for another carrot."
"Me too," Bugs agreed.
