Now the day was finally over.
Since Elmer lived alone and didn't have anybody to talk with, he did that to himself, which he didn't seem to mind or care.
"I think the screwy rabbit looks a bit like the other one I just met today. I wonder how long the screwy rabbit would have this one with him," Elmer told himself.
"I also think it's cool that I had two rabbits instead of one for a change. I'll have to tell that to the rabbit in the morning if I see them."
Elmer decided it was a time to go and see the rabbit hole in case Bugs and Phil are there and want a visitor from Doc.
"Maybe that's a good idea on what I'll do. Why not do it now?" Elmer asked himself.
"Let's go do it."
So Elmer left home and headed to the rabbit hole where both of them were hanging out. He took a peek in the hole.
"Screwy rabbit, are you home?" he called.
No answer yet.
"Are you home?" Elmer repeated a second time.
"I guess not. I can try again later," Elmer said as he thought he heard Bugs come out.
"Doc, we're home. What do you want this time?"
"Just to drop by. I'm bored, so I thought why not hang out here for a bit?"
"You can hang out here anytime."
"Is there other rabbit still here?"
"Of course. He just arrived today. Do you want to see him?"
"Maybe for a bit, but it's not necessary," he answered.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," Elmer answered.
"I'll go tell him you're here."
"How much longer does he plan to stay here?"
"Just a couple days, and then he has to get back."
"Is your mother around? I'd love to meet her too."
"No, she's not alive anymore, Doc. No way for that to happen."
"I'll wait while you get the other rabbit."
"All right. I shouldn't take long," Bugs said and went back into the hole.
Elmer didn't say anything when he returned to see where Phil was.
"Doc is back. You want to come?" Bugs asked.
"Why would he come back?" Phil asked.
"I don't know. I guess he got bored."
"Looks like it. I'll pass."
"Are you sure?"
"Maybe tomorrow we can chat with him."
"I'll tell him."
"Thanks, Bugs."
"You're welcome."
Bugs returned to where Elmer had always hung out most of the time.
"Any luck?" Elmer asked.
"He said maybe tomorrow," Bugs replied.
"All right. What am I supposed to do until tomorrow morning?"
"You'll think of something, Doc. Want to come down for a carrot?"
"A carrot? I don't think so, but thank you anyway, rabbit. I like the idea of two rabbits instead of one."
"I thought I would invite him out and see how you would react with two of us."
"And it worked."
"Yes, it did," Bugs agreed.
"Tell your friend I will look forward for tomorrow."
"I'm sure he already knows, Doc. See you then."
"All right. Thanks for offer of carrots."
"You're always welcome if you want to come back for one and help yourself."
"How many carrots do you have?"
"Quite a few. You're getting interested already, Doc. I'll see you in the morning."
"See you then," Elmer said as he watched Bugs hop into the rabbit hole.
"He's looking forward until tomorrow."
"I would like to know him."
"I'm sure you would. We get along okay, but we don't complain about it."
"I believe you," Phil said.
"I know you do. Let's get some sleep and we can see Doc in the morning."
