"Today is the day!" Mrs. Bennet exclaimed. "Both of you, invited to Netherfield Park!"
"Yes," said Elizabeth. "But it looks like there might be rain."
"We'll have to send the carriage, then," their mother declared.
"Are you sure?" Jane asked.
"I'm sure your father can spare the carriage for today. Mr. Bennet?"
Mr. Bennet looked up from his newspaper.
"Girls, if your mother thinks you should have the carriage in pursuit of these young men, then you shall have it."
"Oh, Mr. Bennet! So good of you! Such an opportunity for the girls!"
Elizabeth and Jane both thanked their father.
