Izzy was visibly frustrated, as Sunny and CC were having a 'friendly' argument.

"I'm just saying, according to the history books, all bat ponies have wings" Sunny said, holding up a book titled 'bat pony anatomy'.

"trust me darling, that books outdated as hell and is missing hundreds of pages of information. such as moth ponies and bat unicorns being a thing. that silly little thing only talks about bat pegasi. and even then its missing tons of information. bat pegasi do not have feathers when they're babies. and bat pegasis wings are not smooth, they're fuzzy" CC argued, her voice posh at the beginning.

"I'm not believing it until I see it" Sunny slouched down on the couch, still holding the book in her hoof.

"well then lets go" CC replied with a smirk.

"what? where?" Izzy interrupted, bringing her head up to see Sunny sitting on the couch while CC stood on her hind legs in the middle of the living room.

"dark cove, the home of the bat ponies" CC said, her voice almost a cackle.

"really!" Sunny squealed with a burst of excitement.

"yep. I have a letter I need to give king Scorpan anyways" CC shrugged.

"I'll go get ready!" Sunny cried out as she flew over to the ramp, dropping the book on the floor.

"what's got her in a rush? didn't she just come home yesterday?" Zipp asked as Sunny flew past her and disappeared upstairs.

"we're apparently going to give dark cove a visit" Izzy replied.

"we'll be back right before I have to start sunset. although maybe it would be better to do it tomorrow so you ponies can have more time to explore" CC smirked.

"good. I'm gonna go challenge Diano to a race. they keep beating me!" Zipp scowled with frustration.

a smile and a snort escaped as CC expertly held back her laughter.

"what's so funny?" Izzy questioned.

"nothing, nothing. I don't care if you want to bring your little 'friend'. I'm gonna go tell the other three" CC shrugged.

she then disappeared before anypony could reply.

the six ponies were standing on the beach where CC had told them to meet her. Sunny had a smug smile, her wings forced against her torso by the dark purple saddle on her back, the clip resembling the star that had been on her fathers flank.

"whats with the face?" Misty asked.

"oh, I'm just excited to prove CC wrong" Sunny remarked.

"you do realize king Noche was a bat unicorn right? and their first queen after the creation of the pony crystals was a moth pony" CC retorted as she appeared, an unopened scroll tucked under her wing.

"whats a moth pony?" Hitch questioned, standing next to the orange alicorn as her wings tried to flutter under the strap of the saddle bag.

"the bat pony version of earth ponies, duh" CC replied.

"at this point your just making this stuff up" Sunny scowled.

"you wanna teleport there or walk?" CC questioned as part of a bridge made of ice appeared over the water.

"teleport" Zipp responded before Pipp could protest, causing the ice bridge to vanish.

"off we go" CC smirked before the six ponies and one hybrid teleported away.

a stallion with bat wings walked down an empty hall, large glass windows lining one of the walls.

"they really need to guard these halls more" he muttered to himself as he looked over at a large window depicting a dark colored unicorn with a similar tail to CCs standing under a flag. the depicted flag was dark blue with a moon and three stars on it.

he froze when a flash went off right next to him.

the dark coated bat pegasus turned his head, only to see a purple unicorn with a darkish blue and purple mane about his age a foot away from his face, her own tinted red.

he yelled, shooting up into the air with his now spread out wings.

"they really need to guard these halls more!" he shrieked as he began flying down to the floor. his yellow eyes stood out against his very dark grayish purple coat and black mane. he wore a simple shaped silver circlet headpiece and silver armor on his legs.

"hello there, my names CC. do you perhaps know where king Scorpan is?" the yellow pegasus asked.

"why? so you can try to kill him?" he asked after seeing the orange pony's wings hidden underneath her saddle bag.

"let me rephrase that. I am Cupcake shy, daughter of the element of kindness and the lord of chaos. an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. well I wouldn't mind going blind if you don't take us to the king so I can give him this formal invitation to a official meeting in my castle to discuss the pegasus who broke in here almost two thousand years ago and killed your king and then used an old artifact to become an alicorn" CC growled, pulling out the scroll from under her wing and using it to poke him in the chest.

then the royal guards arrived, pointing their spears at them.

"wait are those equestrian ponies?" one of the deeper voiced guards said aloud.

"do you have nerves in your feathers!?" one of the clearly newer recruits squealed, flying uncomfortably close to the white pegasus' face.

the six ponies and one hybrid cautiously followed the mysterious stallion, guards surrounding them on all sides.

"uh CC...did you have to hit that guard in the face?" Izzy asked as she walked next to the hybrid.

"I find asking about feather nerves quite offensive" CC replied, trying to imitate Rarity.

"I'm surprised you don't find everything offensive" Hitch remarked.

"I could turn you into a giant carrot and feed you to an army of killer rabbits whenever I want" CC retorted.

that shut the yellow earth pony up.

"wheres Sparky?" Pipp wondered aloud.

"he's back home with Diano" Zipp responded.

Sparky stuck his tongue out as his eyes began looking in different directions, deeply confusing Diano.

"uuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" Diano groaned.

"we're here" the bat pegasus stallion announced as a pair of guards opened the double doors leading to a throne room a third of the size of the zephyr heights throne room.

"oh Dracon, I thought you were going outside" an older bat pegasus stallion called from the largest of the three thrones. he had deep purple eyes, standing out slightly against his very dark grayish purple coat and a short very dark blue mane. he also wore a much more complicated shaped silver circlet headpiece and silver armor on his legs.

"hi dad. we've got visitors. one of them has a letter for you" the dark coated bat pegasus, Dracon replied, gesturing to the six ponies and one hybrid.

"actually, the letters mostly blank. I'd prefer to talk about it with you face to face" CC cut in as she tossed the scroll to the ground, causing it to open and reveal only one sentence on it. 'I'd like to talk to you'.

"oh?" the older stallion asked.

"yes. I've done my research on the history of this place king Scorpan tsuki. its an honor to meet you and your son. I'd be quite happy if you would take an hour or two to talk to me about a very serious threat to the whole world. you know, that pegasus that broke in here, killed the king at the time and used an artifact to become an alicorn. your son prince Dracon could explore with my companions while we talk. they are the elements of harmony, Sunny, Izzy, Zipp, Pipp, Hitch and Misty" CC explained as she bowed to the older stallion, shocking the six ponies.

"how come you're never this formal with us?" Zipp scoffed.

"shut up or I'm turning you into a carrot" CC growled in response.

"I'd very much like to hear what you have to say. Dracon, bring these equestrian ponies outside to explore the city, bring a few guards with you just in case" Scorpan announced as he flew down in front of the small crowd.

half an hour later the six friends were walking down the set of stairs leading to the surprisingly small castle with the prince and five guards.

Zipp flew up, only to be pulled back down by her tail.

"no flying on my watch" a unicorn with a similar tail to CC's said, using her magic to pull down Zipp's tail.

"what are you exactly?" Sunny asked, her wings twitching rapidly underneath the saddle bag.

"I'm a bat unicorn. my friend over there is a moth pony" the mare replied, gesturing to a stallion talking about something with Hitch a few hooves away. the stallion's fur turned to fuzz as it went farther down his back legs.

"oh. I prob-" she winced as her wings thrashed against the strap of the saddle bag, creating a pair of small rips on the dark purple material.

everypony in the small crowd stopped at the sight.

"I read somewhere that pegasi wings hurt if they aren't able to do this flutter motion to keep them ready to fly. its a really dumb move to wear a saddle bag over your wings" one of the two bat pegasus guards told the orange alicorn while Hitch came over and helped her take off the saddle bag.

"good to know" Sunny groaned as she looked over at Zipp and Pipp.

"we didn't know! we just instinctively wear saddle bags under our wings!" Zipp defended, still trying to fly up while the bat unicorn pulled on her tail with magic.

"you were clearly not born a pegasus or an alicorn if you did that" the moth pony chuckled, stopping when he saw Hitch giving him the stink eye.

Sunny then put the saddle bag back on, this time with her wings over the strap.

"much better" she said to herself.

the small crowd then continued down the stairs and into the city.

eventually the group split into duos. each one including a guard, except for one.

"I'm surprised no guards followed us" Izzy chuckled.

"I know several ways to fight, I even know how to stop a unicorn from being able to use magic" Dracon bragged, reaching up to tap Izzy's horn.

"you're not touching that" Izzy laughed, pushing his hoof away.

"understandable. my papa let nopony touch his horn. and I mean nopony" Dracon laughed in reply.

"I thought your dad was talking with CC?" Izzy asked.

"I have two dads. or did before my papa died from illness when I was a teenager" the bat prince replied.

"I can relate. but how? was one of them your stepfather?" the purple unicorn asked.

"no. my aunt was the surrogate. they used IVF to get her pregnant with my dad's child. aka me. so my papa was my biological uncle" Dracon explained.

"interesting" Izzy smiled.

"how'd it go?" CC asked as the six ponies came over to her as she left a meeting hall.

"it was great! except for the saddle bag thing" Sunny replied, chuckling lightly at the end.

"oh yeah. I was wondering when that would happen. one time when I was twelve I tried sleeping with my wings tucked. I woke up feeling like somepony shot holes in both my wings, it was nuts" CC laughed.

"why didn't you do it in your sleep?" Pipp questioned.

"that sounds so weird" she whispered.

"one of the downsides to being half draconequus. I have to think to do the wing flutter thing or ignore when other ponies do it. its really annoying" CC sighed.

"oh so that's where his name comes from!" Izzy suddenly exclaimed.
