Elizabeth and Jane escaped to a quiet corner of the garden, away from the noise that the rest of the family was making at the moment.
"Jane, can you believe it?" Elizabeth asked.
"It has happened, and I don't believe it was a joke," Jane replied.
"I still can't believe anyone would accept that man. I would value my self-worth more than that."
"Do you really think you would have rejected a proposal?"
"I think I would have," Elizabeth replied. "But it's so easy to say that right now-"
"With the prospect of a more pleasant proposal?"
"We shall see."
