"where are we going again?" Hitch asked as the six ponies walked down a recently made wide path.
"we're visiting bridlewood" Sunny replied with a smile.
"correction, you're visiting bridlewood. I'm visiting my dad!" Misty cut in with a small hop forwards.
"who exactly is your dad? I never quite figured that out" Zipp asked.
"Alphabittle" Misty shrugged.
Pipp immediately spat out the smoothie she was drinking, grabbing everyponies attention in the process.
"the tea room owner!?" Pipp yelled, causing everypony to stop walking.
"how did you not realize that earlier?" Misty asked.
"we just processed it as you two being family friends or something! you two look nothing alike!" Zipp explained.
"me and Hitch just thought you were family members" Sunny shrugged.
"and I already knew!" Izzy exclaimed.
"lets just go" Misty quietly groaned, rolling her eyes as she began walking again.
"so do you like, take more after your mom?" Pipp asked.
"oh! like Sunny!" Hitch squeaked.
a preteen Misty lay on her bed, reading a fat book. her mane was dark blue with a teal streak in the front and in a side ponytail.
"Misty. your friend Izzy is her- what are you reading?" Alphabittle asked as he opened the bedroom door. his mane and beard were still gray but had dark blue streaks throughout.
"an old book about magic" Misty said without thinking.
"beep. boop" Misty groaned as she heard Alphabittle start making noises.
"dad. stop. its not jinxie. everypony was doing it before it disappeared like..." Misty trailed off as she began flipping through the pages.
"a gem finding spell! not very useful in bridlewood, I will admit. oh! there's a more advanced version that can find specific types of gems!" Misty exclaimed as she sat up.
she then groaned when she saw him still making the beeping sounds, falling onto her back.
"hi dad!" Misty smiled as she opened the entrance doors to the crystal tea room, catching the attention of everypony inside.
"hi Mist. I didn't know you were coming to visit" Alphabittle replied as he gave a customer their tea.
"me neither, not until Pipp told me CC announced we should visit bridlewood" Misty explained.
"give me all the coffee you got" CC declared, appearing on the stool across from Alphabittle.
"ah!" Alphabittle shrieked, using his magic to toss a teacup at her.
it turned to rubber mid-air and hit against her forehead.
"owie" she squeaked, a smile still on her face.
"do you have coffee?" CC asked, her eyes wide as she slightly tilted her head.
"you really know how to look creepy" Zipp remarked as she sat down next to her.
"its a gift" CC shrugged as her expression went blank.
"here you go" Alphabittle said as he passed a mug of coffee to CC.
the hybrid grabbed the mug, slightly shivering from excitement after taking a sip.
"why does that worry me?" Misty muttered.
"yoink!" a preteen Misty squeaked as she plucked a flower from the grass. on her back was a saddle bag that had a clip that looked like a butterfly.
she picked four more flowers before opening her saddle bag and putting the flowers in with the few flowers she had already picked.
the blue unicorn stopped when she felt as though she was being watched.
when she turned around she didn't see any pony around.
in the treetops sat a mysterious white coated earth pony mare, unblinking as she watched her.
"weird" Misty shrugged.
she then continued plucking flowers as the white mare teleported away.
"hi Misty!" Izzy called out as she ran over.
"hi Izzy!" Misty replied as she picked another flower.
"what 'cha doing?" Izzy asked.
"I'm picking flowers for my dads tea" Misty explained, picking two more flowers.
"whoooo!" CC screamed from the top of a tree, cotton candy clouds thundering with the sound of popcorn popping above her.
"is it just me or is she drunk?" Pipp questioned.
"oh! now I remember!" Misty exclaimed, catching the attention of Pipp, Zipp, Izzy, Sunny and Hitch.
"coffee makes draconequi three times more hyper than normal. according to the books at least" Misty bluntly said.
"oh Celestia. she's already a ball of energy! remember when we went to the changeling hive last week? she didn't look tired even once!" Pipp recalled.
they all froze when they heard CC fall out of the tree.
"you good?" Hitch asked CC, who was now lying on the ground and visibly vibrating.
"I can smell colors" the hybrid muttered.
"oh my Celestia" Sunny mumbled.
"yeah I think she's drunk" Zipp said with a nod of her head.
a preteen Misty opened the entrance doors to the crystal tea room, the saddle bag she was wearing almost overflowing with flowers.
"hi dad!" Misty said as she walked over.
"hi Mist" Alphabittle replied.
"you got the flowers?" he asked.
"yep!" Misty replied with a small hop.
Misty took off the saddle bag and put it on the counter before leaving the room into the house part of the building.
she walked through the hallway until she was at the second to last door. on the door was a piece of paper with the words 'Misty's room! don't enter without permission' written on it.
Misty opened the door and entered the room.
she took a book from the small bookshelf before closing the door.
she sat down on the bed and looked down at the book titled 'unicorn legends'.
Misty flipped through the pages, stopping when something caught her attention.
"who's Mistmane?" she asked herself as she brushed her hoof against the words 'the legend of Mistmane'.
"so how are we gonna get her back to her house?" Izzy asked, gesturing to the vibrating hybrid lying in front of them.
"oh I can do it! I actually figured out teleporting a few weeks ago" Misty replied with a small shrug.
"okay...what will we do while you're dealing with CC?" Sunny questioned.
"let's go to my house!" Izzy declared, freezing when she felt nearby ponies looking at her for a moment before going back to what they were doing.
"and by my house I mean my childhood home" she continued at her normal speaking volume.
"yeah, I think we got that" Zipp replied with a small shrug.
CC lay in the chair with Fluttershy's cutie mark on it, watching the large round table in front of her.
she stopped when a sparkly version of Twilight appeared in the chair with Twilight's cutie mark on it.
"you know you don't need to do that right?" CC sarcastically told her.
'Twilight' said nothing as she shape-shifted into the same white mare.
"so what do you think? is she fit to be the element of empathy?" CC asked as she sat up in the seat.
"yes" the white mare said in a monotone voice.
"what about the other five elements? which candidates did you choose?" CC questioned.
"uh...Sunny starscout for hope. Hitch trailblazer for kindness. Zephyrina storm for courage. Pipp petals for confidence. Izzy moonbow for creativity" the white mare replied.
"wait, two of those ponies are siblings" CC pointed out.
"wait. they are?" the white mare wondered.
"oh my Celestia. yes Unity, Zephyrina and Pipp are siblings! they have the same parents" CC corrected.
"I thought they were friends. or maybe cousins. they look nothing alike" the white mare, Unity replied.
"yeah I thought that at first too. off that topic, isn't Sunny Argyles kid? that guy who's really interested in magic and even dated a unicorn for a while?" CC questioned.
"he...never broke up with her?" Unity confusingly corrected.
"wait what?" CC wondered.
"yeah. she cut off her horn so she could fit in with the ponies in maretime bay. pretty stupid if you ask me" Unity explained.
"I mean, her horn didn't really have a use at the time so..." CC trailed off as she looked at the blank table.
"oh yeah. and her home town had unicorns, earth ponies and pegasi too so she would still fit in" Unity replied.
"hey where's the bathroom in here?" Sunny nervously asked as she and the others followed Izzy inside the house.
"that way" Izzy replied, gesturing in a random direction.
"thanks" Sunny said as she ran off in that direction.
"hey Izzy, how many spells do you know?" Misty asked as she appeared in the middle of the room.
"I'm really good at levitation but I've never tried any other spells" Izzy replied with a shrug as she walked over.
"I know some really cool spells I could teach you" the blue unicorn suggested.
"you do that. I'm gonna go practice some weather magic" Pipp said before going outside.
"I'm gonna go try some flying tricks from old books I read when I was younger" Zipp spoke before following her outside.
"and I, shall go chill with some animals" Hitch told the two unicorns as he began walking backwards outside.
he then turned around and left the building.
"so" Misty interrupted the silence, teleporting a notebook onto the floor.
"which do you want to try first? mustache growth spell. icarus cloudwalking spell. daedalus wing spell. want it need it charm, probably not. tinnitus curing spell" Misty said as she flipped through the pages of the notebook.
"woah, woah, woah. these sound really hard. like, gravity reversal spell!? where in equestria did you find these!?" Izzy asked, flipping to a random page of the notebook.
"well, we could start with that. I got these spells from old books in many different libraries" Misty replied.
"how many of these have you actually done?" Izzy questioned.
"I've only really done the regular gem finding spell" Misty replied with a shrug.
"regular?" Izzy queried.
"there's two versions of the gem finding spell. the regular one just finds gems and crystals in general but the specific one finds specific types of gems and crystals" Misty explained.
"interesting" Izzy commented.
"hey, where'd the others go?" Sunny asked as she walked over.
"they all went outside" Misty replied, gesturing to the door.
"thanks" the orange alicorn said before leaving the building.
"so can you show me the gem finding spell?" Izzy asked.
"sure!" Misty replied before her horn began glowing, all the gems and crystals in the room following suit.
a spot of the floor lit up, turning see through to reveal a gemstone a few hooves below the surface.
"huh" Izzy squeaked.
a slightly younger Misty walked through a large, empty chasm.
"I really hope this is the way to where the pegasi live" she muttered under her breath.
she found a path leading up the mountain and began walking up it.
Misty froze when she heard somepony coming down the path.
she ducked down behind a large rock, calming down when she saw a cyan-coated filly. she had a purple mane with two cyan streaks that was in one large curl in the front and two small curls in the back.
"stupid kids. stupid classmates" she grumbled.
"all I wanted was to have friends but everyone's always just on their phones, not doing anything else. sure, I go on my phone too but I also try to do the stuff I see too! I don't care if it's 'dangerous' or 'uncool'! ugh!" the filly rambled before sitting down in the middle of the path.
"I just want friends who understand me! is that so hard!?" she screeched.
"you and me both" Misty whispered.
"huh? who's there!? I can hear you!" the filly cried out.
"um. I'm Misty. what's your name?" Misty asked as she stood up into the filly's view.
"ah! a unicorn!" the filly yelled as she stood up.
the filly ran up the path and turned a corner, disappearing from her sight.
"oh Luna" Misty mumbled.
