Author's Note: This is my third attempt at a Deadliest Warrior fanfiction. While I am still pretty proud of my second attempt at Deadliest Warrior: Cartoon X-Over Edition, I feel as though I could do a bit better. I will still keep that one up for those who enjoyed it, and some of the non-written fights from that story will be transferred to here, but please note that this will be the one I will be focusing on.
Without further ado, please enjoy the first chapter and fight of Deadliest Fictional Warrior.
I do not own The Lord of The Rings or Forgotten Realms.
(An ugly looking, gray-skinned creature wearing plate armor is shown. He snarls at the camera and lunges forward, swinging his sword.)
An Uruk-Hai: The bloodthirsty barbarian warrior, created to bring the races of Middle Earth to their knees.
(A horde of Uruk-Hai charged forward on a group of Gondor soldiers. One engages the human in a sword fight, overpowering him and bringing his sword down onto the soldier's neck. Another Gondor soldier charges at him before being taken out by an Uruk archer.)
Vs
(An elf with ebony skin and long ivory hair dressed in a black cloak and chain mail armor is shown. He lifts up a small crossbow and takes aim with it.)
A Drow Elf: Feared and merciless dark warriors of The Underdark, trained to fight 24/7 in the name of Lolth.
(A Drow sneaks up on an unsuspecting goblin sentry. When the goblin is in reach, the elf jumps out and runs his knife through the goblin's throat.)
Who…Is…Deadliest?!
To find out, our world class fighters will be testing history and fiction's most lethal weapons. Using 21st century science, we'll see what happens when these warriors go toe-to-toe. No rules. No safety. No mercy. It's a duel to the death. All to decide just who is…The Deadliest Fictional Warrior!
Welcome to The Fight Club. Here we've brought together doctors, medical scientists, and weapons experts to test the deadly arsenals used by our combatants to determine who would win in a face-to-face duel to the death between two of fantasy's most evil soldiers:
Uruk-Hai
Home Series: Lord of The Rings
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190 lbs.
Armor: Iron Plate
Loyalty: Saruman the White
Drow Elf
Home Series: Forgotten Realms
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 157 lbs.
Armor: Chain Mail
Loyalty: Lolth
Biomedical scientist Leon Phoenix will use 21st century science to determine and test the lethality of weapons and equipment used by both warriors.
"This is our first fight and we're pitting two brutal non-human soldiers against one another." Leon said with a nod.
ER Physician Rebecca Smith will analyze the carnage that each warrior and their weapons bring to the table as well as their psychological and physical profiles.
"I'm here to determine if the weapon kills and how the weapon kills." Rebecca explained, "And if it does kill, how effective it will be."
Computer whiz Jackson Miles will take all the information collected by these tests and input them into an advanced computer simulation.
"I'm going to take all the collected data, run them through several battle simulations, and use that to determine who will be our deadliest warrior." Jackson explained.
An elf with fair skin and long, blonde hair clad in a brown and green tunic picks up a bow from a nearby table and takes aim with it.
Representing the Uruk-Hai, Legolas Greenleaf. Legolas is a founding member of The Fellowship of The Ring, and knows full well how brutal the Uruk-Hai can be.
"The elves of Mirkwood and Rivendell are skilled and dangerous in their own right, but the Uruk-Hai have no trouble taking them on." Legolas stated, "The Drow are going to be in for a rough battle."
A man with long, brown hair wearing gray plate armor lifts up a sword and swings it several times.
Also fighting for the Uruk-Hai, King Aragorn. Aragorn is the current king of Gondor and former Ranger, who also knows firsthand how deadly the uruks can be.
"How would a Drow be any different from anything an Uruk-Hai has dealt with before?" Aragorn asked, "To them, an elf is an elf. And they will kill them the same way they would any other elf."
The Uruk-Hai were created in Isengard by its leader, Saruman the Wise. Originally created to hunt down the dark lord Sauron's One Ring, they soon became the backbone of the army of Mordor.
"The Uruk-Hai were made to surpass the standard orc soldier," Aragorn stated, "They were immune to sunlight, they were larger, they were stronger, but most of all, they were more deadly than any breed of orc."
The uruk's infamy as a brutal warrior would come into light during the battle at Helm's Deep, were they faced off against human and elf alike. And despite their loss, the uruk's fearlessness, strength, and ferocity still made them a terrifying obstacle to overcome.
The Uruk-Hai would slaughter their enemies with…
Long Range – Short Bow
Medium Range – Spear
Close Range – Uruk-Hai Cleaver
Special Weapon – Spiked Flail
But today, the Uruk-Hai are not dealing with just any type of elf. His opponent is an equally as dangerous and merciless foe, but also a cunning one: the Drow.
A Drow with long, white hair and wearing black armor and a green cloak picked up a knife from the table before throwing it at a target, hitting it dead center.
Fighting for the Drow, Drizzt Do'Urden. Drizzt is a former Drow soldier who has since forsaken the evil ways of his people and one of the five founders of the Companions of The Hall.
"I may have abandoned the evil ways of the Drow," Drizzt explained, shaking his head, "but I have not forgotten the brutal and merciless atrocities they have committed."
A red haired woman wearing a purple top and pants picks up a crossbow and takes aim with it.
Also fighting for the Drow is Catti-brie. Catti is a fellow founder of the Companions of The Hall alongside her husband, Drizzt, and a highly trained archer and sorceress.
"For Drow, fighting was a way of life." Catti explained, "They fought and killed anything! Dwarves, orcs, goblins, other elves, people, dragons; an Uruk-Hai won't be any different.
Deep underground in the realm of The Underdark, Drow lived in a matriarchal and militaristic society. Due to the laws set forth by their goddess Lolth, Drow society was built on combat.
"Many Drow fought with one another in order to get into Lloth's good graces," Drizzt explained, "but the reality of it was that Lolth wanted to keep the Drow under her rule."
Drow were known for their subterranean warfare, but they were just as deadly above ground as they were below. Relying on ambush and hit-and-run tactics, Drow were masters of using their surroundings as a weapon.
But when it came to actual weapons, the Drow struck fear into their enemies with…
Long Range – Hand Crossbow
Medium Range – Long Knives
Close Range – Longsword
Special Weapons – Orb of Darkness
To kick off this showdown, we'll test both warriors' means of long ranged combat. The Uruk-Hai take aim with the short bow.
Short Bow
Material: Wood and Iron
Range: 20 ft.
Length: 3 feet
Weight: 2.5 lbs.
"This is the Uruk-Hai's short bow." Legolas stated. "The Uruk-Hai were mostly close range fighters, but if they wanted to take opponents out from a distance, this was their first option."
"Well let's test it out now, shall we?" Leon asked, gesturing to three targets behind him. "Behind me are three ballistic gel torsos. All of them are at different ranges – one at ten feet, one at fifteen, and the third at twenty. The one at the twenty foot marker is wearing the armor of a Drow. Your job is to take them out with one arrow each. Think you can do it?"
"Absolutely." Legolas said with a nod. He then lifted the short bow up and got into a firing position.
"Legolas, you ready?" Leon shouted.
"Yes!" Legolas responded.
"On 3…2…1…attack!"
Legolas pulled back on the cable and then released the arrow, sending it soaring through the air at the first target; hitting it right between the eyes. He then pulled out another arrow and aimed for the second target. After releasing the second arrow, it flew through the air striking the second target in the throat. Legolas pulled out his final arrow, and took aim at the last target. He pulled back the cable and released the arrow, sending it flying. When it made contact with the armored target, the arrow went through and got lodged in the chest.
"Wow." Leon said with a nod, "Sorry I ever doubted you."
"I…don't think I even need to put my gloves on for the first two. They're already dead." Rebecca pointed out with a chuckle. She then walked up to the third target. "The third one, on the other hand, we're not sure if it is a kill yet."
After putting her gloves on, Rebecca pulled the arrow out of the armor. The tip of the arrow was covered in red and there was a small hole in the armor. "Well, now we know." Rebecca quipped, removing the armor to reveal a smaller hole in the torso. "Three-for-three."
"It is impressive, yes." Drizzt admitted, "The problem though is that a Drow is just not going to stand there and get hit."
"Well, as previously stated, uruks are more equipped for close range fighting." Aragorn pointed out, "He just needs to hit you long enough to stun you before charging in and finishing you off."
"But he'd have to get past our weapon first." Drizzt countered.
When the Drow needed to take out their targets from a safe distance they relied on the hand crossbow.
Hand Crossbow
Material: Wood and Iron
Range: 50 ft.
Length: 1.3 ft.
Weight: 3 lbs.
"This is the hand crossbow." Drizzt explained, "It has a range of 50 feet, it's light weight, it's easy to conceal, and to top it off, each iron bolt is coated in a poison that can knockout an opponent long enough for a Drow to come in and finish him off."
"Okay. I'm impressed so far, but let's see it in action." Leon said, gesturing to three more targets behind him. "Same test; three targets - one at thirty feet, one at forty feet, and the final target at fifty. The one at fifty is wearing Uruk-Hai plate armor. Think you can match the short bow?"
"I know I can." Drizzt claimed. He then pulled out his crossbow and took aim.
"Drizzt, you ready?!" Leon called out.
"Ready!" responded the former ranger.
"Three…two…one…Attack!"
Drizzt loaded his crossbow and fired at the first target. The bolt flew through the air and lodged itself into the torso's stomach. The former ranger reloaded his crossbow and took aim at the second target and fired. The bolt was sent soaring through the air until it made contact with the second target, lodging itself into its eye. Drizzt set his sights on the third target as he loaded his crossbow and fired. The bolt was sent flying towards the target. When it struck the plate armor, however, the bolt bounced right off; landing on the ground with a soft thud.
"Okay, let's check the damage." Rebecca said, donning her gloves. She headed over to the first target. "Okay, target number one has a bolt lodged in its stomach. He's still standing, but he's going to be suffering internal bleeding; he'll die, but he's gonna die slowly."
"Don't forget, it's coated in a knockout poison that will allow us to get close enough to finish him off." Drizzt reminded.
"Okay, so technically a kill." Rebecca conceded. She then turned her attention to the second target. "Target number two is pretty much dead on arrival. Two out of three."
The doctor then turned her attention to the last torso. "Target number three is still alive. The bolt didn't even make a dent."
"Well, so much for that, hmm?" Aragorn asked with a smirk.
"Don't get too cocky." Drizzt warned, "Drow carry twenty-five of these bolts; if it doesn't make it through the armor the first time, they'll fire again in an unarmored spot."
"There are a lot of unarmored spots." Jackson pointed out under his breath.
"Maybe," Legolas admitted, "But if you miss, by the time you reload, the Uruk-Hai is already on top of you."
The Uruk-Hai's short bow? Or the Drow's hand crossbow? Which warrior takes the edge?
"I was impressed with the hand crossbow at first," Rebecca said, "Now though? I gotta give my edge to the short bow."
"For me, the fact that there are spots on the Uruk-Hai that aren't armored." Jackson countered, "Arms, neck, legs; if that bolt hits any of those spots, then I can see the poison taking effect and allowing the Drow to get in close. Plus, it's got a range 30 feet longer than the bow has. My edge goes to the hand crossbow."
"I have to disagree, Jackson." Leon said, "The keyword in that argument is 'if', meaning that, even with the longer range, there's a good chance that it won't. That being said, the Drow aren't exactly known for staying in one place while being fired at. At the same time, the Uruk-Hai are mostly close range fighters, so they're not going to be that good with the bow. Both these weapons have a lot of ups and downs to them, but the short bow was able to get through the other warrior's armor; the crossbow was not. And for that reason, it gets my edge. Edge, short bow."
It's close, but in long range weapons, the Uruk-Hai take an early edge with the short bow.
Edge: Uruk-Hai
Coming up, both warriors clash blades when their close quarters weapons are analyzed.
Now comes the time to test the two warriors' close range weapons. First up is the Uruk-Hai with the cleaver.
Uruk-Hai Cleaver
Material: Iron
Length: 4 feet
Weight: 6 lbs.
"This is the cleaver." Aragorn explained, "Despite being four feet long and weighing up to six pounds, Uruk-Hai were able to swing these around quite skillfully due to their strength."
The Drow also bring in their preferred bladed weapon: the longsword.
Longsword
Material: Mithral
Length: 3 feet
Weight: 4 lbs.
"This is the Drow's longsword." Catti explained, "It's lightweight and quick, allowing for swift deadly strikes."
"Our sword is longer, and it will definitely go through Drow armor." Aragorn said. "Yours on the other hand…"
"Well, lets test them out." Leon said, pointing to two gel torsos covered in different armor. "The target on my left is wearing uruk iron plate and the target on my right is wearing Drow chainmail. You both have to prove your sword's effectiveness. Catti, your up first."
"Gladly." Catti said, lifting the longsword and getting into a fighting stance.
"Then on my mark." Leon began, "Three…two…one…go!"
Catti charged toward her target. The first strike was aimed at the torso itself, but the sword only managed to dent the armor. She brought the sword back and swung again, this time in a downward arc on the unprotected shoulder, severing the arm. After bringing it back again, Catti took one last swing, aiming at the torso's neck. When the blade made contact with the neck, it sliced through, causing the torso's head to fall and roll onto the floor.
"Dang…" Leon commented.
"Yeah, he's dead." Rebecca said, "I don't even need to go over there; he's dead. If it's not the beheading that will get him, it's the loss of blood from the missing arm."
"But, just as I said," Aragorn stated, "it didn't even do anything to the armor. Just a dent at most."
"I'm sorry," Catti asked, "did you miss the part where his head rolled away?"
"Okay, Uruk Team, let's see what you got." Leon stated.
"With pleasure." Aragorn stated, grabbing the cleaver and getting into a fighting stance.
"Three…two…one…go!"
Aragorn charged forward and swung the cleaver at the torso, the spike at the tip of the blade lodging itself in the chain mail. Aragorn then pulled back and made another swing, this time aiming for the side. After the blade made contact, the king of Gondor pulled it back once more and prepared to strike again. He swung again, this time bringing it down onto the torso's head, splitting it in half.
"Again…dang…" Leon said.
"Well, this guy is dead too," Rebecca commented, "at least where the head is concerned. Lets check the armor."
After removing the Drow's chain mail, the experts make a shocking discovery.
"Okay, this area" Rebecca said, pointing to a small hole in the chest cavity, "where you used the spike on the blade tip, that actually managed to puncture the armor; this is a kill shot."
"This area here, however, is surprisingly not." Rebecca continued, pointing to the area where Aragorn slashed into the side. To everyone's shock, it damaged the armor, but the torso underneath the area was unharmed. "At most, due to the force, it's a broken rib."
"What was that you were saying about our armor and your sword?" Catti asked smugly.
"It did puncture the armor," Aragorn countered, before admitting, "just with the spike at the end."
The Uruk-Hai Cleaver? Or the Drow Longsword? Which one do our experts give the edge?
"Both these swords have their ups and downs." Leon stated. "The cleaver did actually manage to break through the chain mail with the spike, but the slashing was only able to damage the armor; not what was underneath. The longsword, on the other hand, didn't go through the plate armor at all; however, its lighter weight allowed it more quick movements to go after the vital, unprotected areas of the uruk's armor. And that's why I'm giving it the edge. Edge, longsword."
In close range weapons, the Drow elf takes the edge with the longsword.
Edge: Drow Elf
Coming up, flying daggers take on a six-foot wooden menace as both warriors' medium range weapons are analyzed.
Now it's time to analyze the two warriors' medium range weapons. The Drow are up first with the long knives.
Long Knives
Length: 2.5 Feet
Weight: 2 lbs.
Material: Mithral
"These are the long knives." Catti explained. "They may be small and lightweight for medium range, but they are more than effective enough. Plus, Drow would often carry five of these at one time."
"Okay then, lets test them out." Leon said, pointing to a target behind him. "Behind is a foam target wearing uruk armor. Think you can manage?"
Catti nodded as he armed himself with a long knife.
"Alright, on my mark." Leon called, "Three…two…one…now!"
Catti leapt up to the target and slashed the target's throat. Afterwards, she then proceeded to jab the target in the temple and then walked away. However, when she was ten feet away from the target, she pulled out a second long knife and threw it at the target's face, embedding it in between the eyes.
"Whoa," Jackson commented, "show off, much?"
"Well, your first strike was a slash across the throat; that is a kill, right there. The jab and the target bulls eye were also killing blows," Rebecca stated, "He's dead."
Our experts are impressed, but Team Uruk-Hai isn't buying it. They counter with the Uruk-Hai's main mid range weapon: the uruk spear.
Uruk Spear
Length: 6 feet
Weight: 5.5 lbs.
Material: Wooden shaft; Iron head
"This is the spear that the Uruk-Hai used in combat." Legolas explained. "It's six feet long, weighs a little over five pounds, and it could be either thrust forward or thrown."
"Well then, let's test it out." Leon said, gesturing to two targets behind him. "Right behind me are two foam targets; both wearing Drow chain-mail. You get two spears, one for thrusting and one for throwing. I think you get the idea."
Legolas nodded as he picked up one of the spears and got in a fighting stance.
"Legolas, you ready?" Leon called out.
"Ready!" Legolas called back.
"Three…two…one…attack!"
Legolas took aim with the spear and threw it at the first target. It soared through the air before getting lodged in the torso's chest. Legolas then grabbed the second spear and charged towards the second target with a yell. As he did so, he thrust forward and impaled the second target.
"Okay, let's see what we got here." Rebecca said, walking up to the first target. "Well in target one, the spear head managed to puncture the chain mail and lodged itself in the chest cavity. That is an instant kill right there."
Walking over to the second target, Rebecca continued, "With target two, you just ran it right through the stomach; he's going to die, but he's going to die slowly."
"It's impressive, yes," Drizzt admitted, "but what good is it going to do if the uruk lifts his spear only to have a knife in his throat?"
"At long range, maybe." Legolas countered, "But in a close fight, you need to get in the spear's range."
The Drow Long Knives? Or the Uruk-Hai Spear? Which weapon gives there warrior the edge.
"To be honest, I have to give this to the spear." Jackson said, "True the knife is a better throwing weapon, but it melee? It's got too short of reach to really compare."
"I have to agree, Jack." Leon said, "The spear has the definitive range advantage in melee. The long knife is not going to do much when the Drow is dodging a six foot stick getting thrust through his armor. Edge, Spear."
In medium range weapons, the edge goes to the Uruk-Hai for their spear.
Edge: Uruk-Hai
Coming up, a handheld wrecking ball takes on the Drow's secret weapon when the two warrior's special weapons are analyzed.
Now it is time to analyze the two warrior's special weapons. The Uruk-Hai is up first with the spiked flail.
Spiked Flail
Length: 3'6"
Weight:12 lbs.
Material: Wooden shaft; Steel chain & weight
"This is the uruk's flail." Aragorn explained. "It weighs twelve pounds, it's over three feet long, and it will make short work of any Drow that gets in an Uruk-Hai's way."
"It looks terrifying, but lets see how dangerous it is." Leon said, pointing to a ballistic torso behind him. "See that torso? Lets see some carnage."
"Will do." Aragorn said as he got into a fighting stance, flail in hand.
"On my mark! Three…two…one…Attack!"
Aragon swung the flail downwards with the flail with a yell. When the weight made contact, there was a sickening crunch as the head was smashed like a grapefruit.
"Dang!" Jackson said, "Just…just dang!"
"Yeah, he's dead." Rebecca said, shaking her head. "There is no way that he survived that."
The experts are impressed, but Team Drow has one more secret weapon up their sleeves: Drow elves were just as good at sorcery as they were at combat. They return fire with one of their most popular spells; The Orb of Darkness.
Orb of Darkness
Size: 5 inches in diameter
Weight: 1 lb.
Substance: Dark Magic
"This is the Orb of Darkness." Drizzt explained, "It was one of the Drow's best secret weapons. All the user would have to do is give the orb a squeeze and your opponent won't be able to sense a thing."
"All senses?" Jackson asked.
"Well, five of them." Drizzt said, with a nod. "The sense of touch is still active."
"Well, let's test it out." Leon said, gulping.
To test the Orb of Darkness, Leon himself will be volunteering to be the testing subject.
"Drizzt! Leon! Are you guys ready?" Jackson called out.
"Ready!" the two called out, simultaneously.
"Three…two…one…cast the spell!"
Drizzt squeezed the orb. The instant he did, Leon's world went completely dark. He couldn't see anything, he couldn't hear anything, and he couldn't smell anything. However, he did feel a light pressure pressing into his back. As Drizzt deactivated the spell, Leon could see that the pressure against his back was the handle of a long knife that Drizzt was pressing up against him.
"Wow," Leon muttered as his senses came rushing back to him, "It was almost as if I was dead for a second; all three of my more important senses were just…just gone."
"First off," Aragorn said, "this is not a killing weapon; this is merely a diversion. Second, Uruk-Hai have dealt with magic users before!"
"Maybe so," Drizzt countered, "but how many have they actually killed?"
The Uruk-Hai's spiked flail? Or the Drow's Orb of Darkness? Which warrior gets the edge in special weapons?
"I have to give this to the Orb of Darkness." Jackson said. "Considering that it cuts off three of the most important senses in a fight, the uruk will most likely be dead before he even knows what's going on."
"I have to disagree, Jack." Rebecca said. "From a weapon standpoint, the orb is at most a distraction. The flail is an actual killing weapon, so that's where I'm putting my money."
At a standstill, it's up to Leon to make the final decision.
"At first, I was skeptical of the orb," Leon said, "but after being under it, I can safely say there is only one thing more horrifying than seeing a spiked metal orb coming to bash your head in; not seeing any weapon closing in on you at all. That's why I'm giving my personal edge to the Orb of Darkness."
It's close, but the Orb of Darkness just manages to give the Drow the edge in special weapons.
Edge: Drow Elf
Coming up…The Uruk-Hai and the Drow Elf will go head-to-head to discover just who is…The Deadliest Fictional Warrior!
The time has come to put together the weapons analysis collected from the testing.
We tested four weapons used by the Uruk-Hai: The Short Bow, The Uruk Spear, The Uruk Cleaver, and The Spiked Flail.
We also tested four weapons used by the Drow Elf: The Hand Crossbow, The Long Knives, The Longsword, and The Orb of Darkness.
In special weapons, The Orb of Darkness overshadowed the Uruk's Spiked Flail.
"The flail is definitely the killing weapon in this comparison," Leon said, "but with the orb, you have no idea what the attack is and where it's coming from until it's too late. Edge, Orb of Darkness."
Edge: Drow Elf
In long range weapons, the Uruk's Short Bow outshot the Drow's Hand Crossbow.
"The crossbow has a longer range, and it has a poison that allows the Drow to get in close. However, while it was able to puncture the uruk's skin, it didn't even dent the armor. The short bow managed to do both, which is why it gets the edge."
Edge: Uruk-Hai
In medium range weapons, the Uruk's Spear outperformed the Drow's Long Knives.
"The knives were great at ranged combat; but in melee, the Drow is going to have to get in close. The spear is long enough to not have that problem, thus giving it the edge."
Edge: Uruk-Hai
And in close range weapons, the Drow's Longsword surprisingly cut the Uruk-Hai Cleaver down to size.
"The cleaver was longer and heavier, but what surprised me the most was that only the point at the end was able to get through the Drow's armor; slashing it only damaged it, not what was underneath. The longsword may be shorter, but it's lightweight means that it has a lot more versatility behind it. Edge, longsword."
Edge: Drow Elf
Our scientists and weapons experts have finished their testing and analysis. It's time for Jackson to plug the results into a computer simulation to determine the winner. In order to make sure that the battle won't end in a single lucky blow, the simulation will be run one thousand times. Who will win?
Barbarian Brutality…
(An Uruk-Hai overpowers a Rohirrim soldier then bashes his head with his flail.)
…vs Hit-and-Run Tactics
(A Drow Elf sneaks up on a dwarf before slicing his throat.)
Magic Made Super Soldier…
(A horde of Uruk-Hai charges a group of Rivendell elves, striking down a large portion.)
…vs Born for Warfare
(A Drow elf engages a Lizard Warrior in combat, only to run him through with his longsword.)
"Everything's ready and all we have to do is sit back and watch the show. It's time to end this once and for all." Jackson said before pressing the "Enter" button on his keyboard.
As the moonlight shone over a forest, we see a small campsite complete with a roaring campfire. Next to the fire, an Uruk-Hai uses a rock to sharpen his cleaver. Seeing that it's sharp enough, he brings the blade down on the leg of a wild boar he had managed to kill and brings the leg up to his mouth where he hungrily begins to devour the meat.
It had only been one day since he arrived in this strange new land as a scout, and already he had seen enough that the white wizard would either convince those of this land to join them, or have he and his comrades bring the countless races to their knees. He, personally, was hoping that the wizard would choose the latter; it had been too long since he saw combat.
Unknown to him, he was about to get his wish…
Nearby, a Drow Elf observed this strange, ugly new creature to this land. This thing didn't look like any orc, goblin, or human he had seen before. Indeed, it looked like some strange combination of the three. If this was the new creature that he heard rumors about, one of many that had brought entire races to their knees, then this would definitely be a worthy opponent; one who's defeat would surely get him into Lolth's favor.
Suddenly, the Uruk-Hai stopped his feast and began sniffing the air. Something was out there, watching him. He sniffed again and smelled…an elf? However, this elf wasn't like any he had ever battled and slaughtered before. One last sniff, and the Uruk turned his head to the left…right where the Drow was hiding.
The Drow takes out his hand crossbow and takes aim. After loading it, he fires the crossbow and sends a bolt flying towards the Uruk-Hai. Unfortunately, the bolt bounces right off the Uruk's armor; alerting him of his new intruder.
Letting out an inhuman roar, the Uruk pulls out his short bow and fires. The Drow, who had been loading the second bolt into his crossbow at the time, looks up and only has enough time to dodge the incoming arrow as the head imbeds itself into the tree he was in front of.
Before the Drow can get off another shot, he looks up and sees the Uruk charging into the forest after him, spear in hand. The Drow pulls out one of his long knives and throws it at his charging assailant.
The Uruk grunts in pain as he looks down to see the knife embedded in his knee. Ripping it out, he looks back up and snarls...
Only to find the Drow is gone.
The Uruk-Hai snarls again as he begins sniffing for his opponent. Unknown to him, the Drow had not gone too far. The Drow was up in a nearby tree, longsword in hand; waiting in ambush.
When the Uruk-Hai stopped underneath the tree in question, the Drow jumped down from his hiding spot. When he collided with the Uruk, the Drow managed to knock over his opponent; and more importantly, knocked the spear out of his hands. The Drow then ran up to the weapon in question and picked it up, snapping it in half with his foot.
By this time, the Uruk-Hai had gotten back up and pulled out his cleaver. The Drow glares at him, unsheathing his longsword. The Uruk roared as he charged forward, slashing at his opponent. The Drow dodged the attack and slashed forward with his own.
However, judging by the metallic clang sound, he had only managed to dent the armor covering the Uruk-Hai's chest.
The Uruk swung forward with his sword again, this time hitting his intended target. However, he was momentarily shocked to discover that the blade had only ripped the armor and not the elf underneath.
Seeing this as well, the Drow takes this moment of time to make a quick slashing motion on the Uruk's shoulder.
The Uruk-Hai roars in pain as he drops his cleaver. The Drow smirks as he goes in for the kill, only for the Uruk to grab his wrist and kick him down the hill. The Uruk snarled as he picked up his cleaver and sheathed it again, pulling out his flail.
As the Drow lands at the bottom, he discovered that he lost his sword in the tumble. Now down to just his crossbow and knives, the Drow looks up and sees the Uruk charging forward; a flail swinging in his hands. The Drow runs off, much to the Uruk's amusement as he swings the spiked flail while chasing after him.
Little did the Uruk know that this was not cowardice. This was a tactical retreat. For the Drow had one more weapon on hand.
The Drow pulled something small out of his pocket and stopped running. The Uruk continued his charge and was about ten feet away from the Drow.
Suddenly, the Uruk-Hai's world became black, making him stop in his tracks. His night-vision was no longer working. He couldn't see, smell or hear the Drow anywhere. He couldn't see, hear or smell, period! It was almost as if he were dead.
Except, he could feel the flail in his hand.
Where the Drow was standing, he saw that the Uruk-Hai was just standing in place; roaring and swinging his flail wildly. Pocketing the Orb of Darkness, the Drow took out his crossbow and loaded it, taking aim. He didn't want to get anywhere near the flail, and he knew that there were weak points in his opponent's armor. The Uruk was swinging wildly around the upper half of his body, so that meant that the arms, face, and neck were off the table.
The Uruk's world was still an empty blackness. He was swinging the flail – or at least he thought he was, he couldn't tell – so he had to have hit something. Suddenly, he felt something strike him in the leg…
The Uruk let out a roar of pain as he let go of the flail, sending in flying towards the Drow. The elf ducked and watched as the flail's spikes got lodged in a tree.
Suddenly, the Uruk-Hai's world came back to life! He could smell again. He could hear again. And most importantly, he could see again…especially the Drow's crossbow bolt lodged in his leg.
Snarling, the Uruk-Hai ripped the bolt out of his leg and snapped it like a twig. He then unsheathed his cleaver and began to charge towards the Drow, bellowing as he did so. However, he began to slow down a bit, feeling a little dizzy as he dropped his cleaver.
The Drow smirked. The poison was starting to take effect. Putting his crossbow away, the Drow brought out another long knife as he began to slowly walk towards his opponent.
The Uruk snarled as he felt his knees give out. Whatever was happening, it felt like his whole body was being knocked out. The Uruk looked up to see the Drow standing over him, smiling mockingly. The soldier of Mordor went to grab at him, but he couldn't move. The Drow nodded at this and placed his knife at the Uruk-Hai's throat.
With animalistic fury and hatred in his eyes, the Uruk-Hai snarled briefly before the Drow slowly began to move the knife across the Uruk's throat. As the Drow watched the life leave his opponent's eyes, he let the body fall to the ground face first.
The Drow cleaned the blood off his knife before sheathing it. He then looked around to make sure there were no other Uruk-Hai around, before taking the Uruk's helmet and flail with him back to the Underdark.
Both trophies of his victory over a new foe.
Winner: Drow Elf
Throughout the 1,000 battles, the Drow Elf proved to be victorious with 510-victories; the hand crossbow and longsword being his best weapons.
Drow Elf
Hand Crossbow…190
Longsword…187
Long Knives…133
Orb of Darkness…0
Total: 510
The Uruk-Hai wasn't far behind with 490-victories. The short bow and spear were the best weapons in his arsenal, with the bow scoring even more kills than anything in the Drow's arsenal; but it unfortunately wasn't enough to help him.
Uruk-Hai
Short Bow…200
Uruk-Hai Spear…175
Uruk Cleaver…105
Spiked Flail…10
Total: 490
"The Uruk-Hai was bigger, tougher, and meaner," Jackson explained, "but the Drow was faster, smarter, and able to find ways around the Uruk-Hai's armor. It should also be worth noting that, while they were the backbone of Mordor's army, the Uruks were more fit to fight in large scale wars instead of one-on-one skirmishes. The Drow, on the other hand, can fight in both types of battles."
"I admit," Aragorn said, "I did underestimate the Drow; but put a Drow army against an army of Uruk-Hai, and I don't think we'll be seeing any Drow leave that battlefield alive."
"The Uruk-Hai are good," Drizzt admitted, "but the Drow deserves the title of Deadliest Warrior."
(The Drow Elf returns to the Underdark to inform his fellow warriors of a race of invaders planning on attacking, providing his trophies as evidence.)
With severe apologies to Lord of The Rings fans…
Next time on "Deadliest Fictional Warrior", two honorable, yet vicious, warrior alien races clash in a battle to the death.
(A helmeted alien humanoid with dreadlock-like appendages activates a pair of metallic blades from a gauntlet on its arm.)
Elder Predators, the hunters from beyond the stars that treat killing, not only as a sport, but as a way of life.
Vs.
(A reptilian alien humanoid wearing blue battle armor aims a rifle at the camera.)
Sangheili Elites, the backbone of the Covenant army who were famous for their sword skills.
Author's Note: Well, there's the first installment of my third attempt at a Deadliest Warrior Fanfiction. I hope some people found it enjoyable at least. Constructive criticism is welcome, as well as requests for warriors and/or matches. Until next time, read, review, and suggest.
