Chapter 6: A Visitor from the Future

Amy's house was unusually quiet. Silver lay unconscious upstairs, recovering from his earlier battle, while Tails monitored his vitals in his makeshift lab. The hum of machinery filled the air.

Meanwhile, Knuckles and Shadow were out in the city, tasked with buying groceries. Sonic leaned against the wall, watching Amy pace anxiously.

"Relax, Ames," Sonic said with a carefree grin. "We've been through worse. This is nothing."

Amy frowned, her hands on her hips. "Sonic, we don't even know who he is or why he's here. What if he's dangerous?"

"Dangerous?" Sonic laughed. "Come on, did you see him earlier? He could barely keep up. If anything, we're the ones he should be worried about."

Amy glared at him. "This isn't funny. What if this is part of some bigger plan? What if Eggman's involved?"

Sonic stepped closer, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Look, no one's getting hurt, okay? You've got me. Everything's going to be fine."

Amy hesitated but eventually nodded, though her worry was evident.

Their conversation was cut short by a loud crash in the garden. They ran outside to find Shadow on the ground, glaring up at Knuckles, who stood over him, fists clenched.

"Want another shot?" Knuckles growled.

Shadow smirked, brushing dirt off his shoulder. "You couldn't hit me again if you tried."

Knuckles lunged forward, swinging wildly. Shadow dodged and countered, sending Knuckles flying into the garage.

"Enough!" Amy yelled, storming over with her hammer in hand. "What did we agree on? No fighting!"

Knuckles groaned, pulling himself out of the wreckage, while Shadow straightened his jacket, looking unbothered.

As they headed back inside, Sonic joked, "Guess we're staying here for a while. Can't go back to our houses—they're, you know, kinda destroyed."

Amy rolled her eyes. "Fine. But don't trash my place too!"

Knuckles flopped onto the couch, flipping through TV channels with growing frustration. "Where's my show?" he muttered.

Shadow sat by the window, a book in hand, though his mind was elsewhere. He couldn't shake his suspicion about Silver.

Tails eventually came downstairs, looking exhausted. Shadow intercepted him at the bottom of the stairs.

"What did you find?" Shadow asked sharply.

Tails yawned, rubbing his eyes. "Silver's vitals are stable. The disturbance is gone."

"What do you mean, 'gone'?" Shadow pressed.

Tails explained, "The chaos field in his body stabilized. His energy isn't fluctuating anymore."

Shadow's eyes narrowed. "So he's not a threat...yet."

Tails shrugged and moved to the couch, collapsing beside Knuckles, who was now grumbling about reruns.

In the kitchen, Amy prepared dinner, while Sonic stood nearby, chopping vegetables.

"Do you think this is Eggman's doing?" Amy asked quietly.

Sonic shrugged. "Probably, but it doesn't matter. We'll deal with it."

Amy sighed, then nodded, focusing on her cooking again.

When dinner was ready, the group gathered at the table. As they began to eat, Silver appeared at the top of the stairs. He looked hesitant but made his way down.

Everyone froze, their eyes locked on him.

Knuckles paused mid-bite, food still in his mouth. "Whohh aarr yuu?" he mumbled through a mouthful of food.

Silver opened his mouth to respond, but Shadow didn't wait. He leapt across the room, delivering a powerful kick that sent Silver crashing through the wall and into the garden.

Amy screamed in frustration. "Shadow! My wall!"

Shadow followed Silver outside, ready to strike again. Sonic intercepted him, grabbing his arm mid-swing.

"Relax, Shads," Sonic said.

Shadow growled but stepped back. Silver staggered to his feet, dazed and confused.

Back inside, they all sat around the table, the tension palpable. Shadow was the first to break the silence.

"Why are you here?" he demanded.

Knuckles, still chewing, repeated the question. "Yhh...why arr yhh heer?"

Silver hesitated before finally speaking. "I'm from the future."

Shadow leaned forward, his tone sharp. "Explain. Now."

Silver swallowed hard, his voice trembling. "The future is destroyed. An evil overlord used the Chaos Emeralds to annihilate everything and reshape the world in his image. Anyone who resisted was killed. I'm the only one who survived."

Knuckles, still chewing, asked again. "Yhh...why the Emraldsss?"

Silver continued, "We thought if we secured the Emeralds before the overlord could, we might stop him. But our plans were discovered. My time machine malfunctioned and sent me further back than intended."

He held up a device. "This tracker can locate Chaos Emeralds from long distances."

Tails leaned forward with curiosity. "That explains the disturbance in the Chaos Field!"

The others looked confused, so Tails elaborated. "Silver's machine caused an imbalance in the Chaos Field when it malfunctioned. That's what I detected earlier."

Silver looked apologetic. "I'm sorry for the trouble I caused."

Knuckles finished chewing, leaned back, and said clearly, "Your apology doesn't fix the damage you've done."

Everyone stared at him for a moment before Sonic burst out laughing.

Silver's ears drooped, he asks , "How do you know my name?"

"We just guessed from his fur color," Amy said with a smile.

Silver chuckled. He reached for some bread but winced in pain as he tried to take a bite.

"You're still injured," Amy said, standing up. "I'll make you some soup."

Knuckles leaned back, stretching. "That was great. I'm done, guys. See you in the morning."

As he walked off, Sonic noticed the empty plates.

"Knuckles!" Sonic yelled.

Tails pointed at him. "You ate everything!"

Shadow's voice cut through, cold and sharp. "You glutton."

Knuckles looked over his shoulder, smirking. "What? It was good!"

Silver couldn't help but laugh, though he quickly regretted it as his ribs ached.

Amy returned with soup, placing it in front of him. "Eat up. You'll feel better."

Silver sipped quietly, observing the team. They bickered like siblings, but their bond was undeniable. He smiled to himself, but his mission loomed heavy in his mind.
