Chapter 7

Will Solace's POV

I couldn't believe we had to go there again. I'd been miserable and weak last time I went down there. At least I had a choice last time.

Now Chiron was shipping us off to the most dangerous place in the world without a second thought.

But I guess that was being unfair to him. He probably didn't want us to go. But he was right. We can't evade prophecys.

So there I was, outside the Athena cabin with a backpack filled with mortal food and water, ambrosia, healing supplies, a jumper, and my sun lamp.

The 'Elves' looked terribly unprepared, with a water bottle and the clothes on their back.

"So how're we getting to the Door of Orpheus?" Frank asked when Annabeth joined us.

"I can show you the way." Nico told him.

"Hang on. Sorry, but you've been there before right?" Sophie asked.

"Yes..." Nico said slowly.

"And you remember what it looks like?"

"Uh huh."

"I can teleport us there if you let me find the image in your head."

Nico looked startled but quickly recovered. "Um- sure. You won't see anything else right?"

"No." She assured him.

"Wait." Annabeth interrupted. "If we go to the Door of Orpheus, that's the entrance to the underworld. What of we went to where Percy and I fell in? That goes straight to Tartarus."

"But that's all the way in Rome." Leo argued.

Sophie shook her head. "If Annabeth can remember what it looks like, I can take us there."

"So we don't have to go through the Underworld." Jason realised. "That makes it a bit easier."

"A bit." Nico agreed.

"So how do we teleport?" Piper questioned.

"Free falling." Sophie replied innocently.

"What?" I asked, sure I'd heard wrong.

Sophie laughed softly. "I know. But it works. I don't suppose you've got a cliff we can jump off?"

"Not really. The lava tower?" Leo suggested half-heartedly.

Sophie grimaced. "No thanks."

"I don't suppose any of you know how to fly?" The boy called Fitz asked.

"I do?" Jason said.

Fitz nodded. "We usually levitate if there isn't a cliff available."

"What about the Pegasi? For those of us who can't fly." Hazel suggested.

"That should work." Sophie agreed.

At the stables, Percy claimed Blackjack immediately, leaving the rest if us with no clue who the others were.

Percy introduced us to the horses and I ended up riding one called Porkpie.

We soared above Camp half-blood, so high the rest of the campers looked like ants.

"Can I enter your mind now?" Sophie asked Annabeth.

She nodded.

Sophie closed her eyes and knitted her eyebrows together. A short while later, she opened her eyes again.

"Ok. Everyone link arms." She instructed.

I put my hand in Nico's and Jason's.

"On the count of three." She paused for a second. "Three... Two... One."

On one, we jumped off our Pegasi and fell towards the lake, the sound of my friends screaming and the air roaring in my ears.
