"What do you mean, she's gone?!"
The Joker was not happy. His face was twisted into a sneer as he paced the large room that was his office.
"Uh… seems she took your kickin' her out again really hard, boss. She tried to jump off the Arkham Bridge, but Batman saved her, and then he flew off and…"
"BATMAN CAN'T FLY, YOU IDIOT!" Joker screeched, hurling a vase at his poor lackey's head. It shattered on the wall.
"W- Well ya gotta understand… he was wearin' a black suit."
"Was he wearing a cowl, shit-brains!"
"Nuh… no."
"Then he wasn't Batman, was he?" said the Joker in a mockingly patient tone.
"Wuh- I mean… he flew."
"Exactly. That bastard stole Harley! He probably took her to Wayne Manor or something! Oh, damnit, damnit, damnit!"
"We gotta find Harley… she could've leaked information to that bas…"
CRASH!
"That's not good…"

A commotion could be heard outside… gunfire, the thuds of bodies… even a panicked cry of "Oh my God he vaporized him!"
After a few minutes, the door to Joker's office fell off of its hinges, revealing a smirking man in a black outfit, complete with a black, silver-trimmed cape and gauntlets. There was a silver glyph on his chest, and his eyes glowed a menacing red. "I've fought Arabs in Kabul with better security systems than yours, mate," he said dryly.
"Who- what are you?" Joker asked, a bit scared.
"Tell me why I shouldn't kill you now."
"You think you're going to fool me with new clothes and a British accent, Superman? Really?"
"Superman?" The man laughed. "If I were Superman… would I do, I don't know…" He walked over to the Joker's henchman, who at this point was literally scared stiff. Effortlessly, the black-suited man grabbed the henchman's spine, casually ripping it out of his back. Then, without so much as blinking, he jammed the dripping red backbone through the man's temple, ripped his head off, and threw it over his shoulder. "That?"

The Joker grinned. "Now that was funny!"
"Harley tells me…" Joker found himself pressed against the wall, "that you hit her. That you call her all sorts of terrible things."
"W- Well, you see, I… Ugh!" Joker had been slammed against the wall again.
"There's only one way to deal with an abuser, Joker." His eyes began to glow. "I know what you and Luthor are doing. Let me make this abundantly clear. You cannot run. You cannot hide." He squeezed Joker's neck with a single, bloody hand. "I will find you." He was grinning now. "I will kill you. You are both… going… to die." He threw Joker to the ground. "Do you understand me?"
Joker struggled to his feet, but the other man was quicker. He grabbed Joker and flew away with him until they were ten thousand feet in the air.
"Do you… understand me."
Joker could only nod.
"Good." The man spiked Joker like a football, and the last thing the Joker saw before he hit the concrete below was his adversary flying off.

Meanwhile, Vel-Zar was headed towards home. He dove into the ocean below him and surfaced a few miles later, cleaning the blood off of his suit, then continued on his way east. Along the way, he almost ran into another Kryptonian, this one blonde.
"Ooh! Sorry!"
Vel-Zar stopped, turning towards her. "Quite alright. You must be Kara Zor-El. Kal told me about you."
"Nothing bad, I hope." She smirked.
"No, nothing too horrid comes to mind. Ah… Vel-Zar, by the way. Son of Ken-Zar."
Kara gasped. "No way… your dad is who?!"
"Ken-Zar. Why… was he famous?"
"Famous? Are you kidding me? Admiral Ken-Zar is one of the greatest tacticians in Kryptonian history! He helped put down Zod's rebellion, and-"
"Hang on… is? I thought he died when Krypton was destroyed."
"No!" Kara shook her head. "He lives in Argo City with his wife and another kid… your sister. Argo still orbits Rao thanks to a shield my father built to protect it from the destruction."
"There's still a Kryptonian city?"
"Two if you count Kandor, but it's bottled up in the Fortress of Solitude. Brainiac shrunk it, and Kal's trying to figure out how to regrow it."

"My parents are still alive… that's wonderful! I- I need to see them!"
"Then we'll get you to Argo City!"
Superman flew in on the scene a moment later. "Hey… I hear Joker's headquarters was recently raided and most of his guys were killed. Was that you?"
Vel-Zar nodded. "I did what I had to," he explained. "On top of working with Luthor, Joker was abusing Harley Quinn… who, by the way, is at Wayne Manor now with Bruce and Selina; she'll be alright."

Superman sighed. "I'd… really rather you didn't go around killing people, Vel," he said. "That's not what we do."
"I'm not trying to justify myself or make excuses here, but… you know I was genetically programmed…"
"To be part of the Warrior Guild, yes. I can sort of get that you'd kill out of necessity, and let's not forget your involvement with the British military. But killing all those people just because they were in the way is something Zod would do."
"Alright, I'll tone it down. Frankly, I was trying to put the fear of Rao into the Joker."
"I get that. Just ah… less killing, please… if you can help it."
"Right, right."

"Krypton stands, apparently," said Vel-Zar.
"Hey! Krypton stands… I like that!" Superman smiled. "We should put that on a shirt. Anyway, why don't we meet up at the Fortress of Solitude? I've been looking into Luthor and Joker's plans, and Harley's given us intel."
The three sped off, arriving at the Fortress of Solitude in the space of a few minutes.
Batman and Harley were there to greet them at the door.
"Kal… Kara." Batman nodded. "Vel-Zar."
"Apparently, Harley Quinn has information on our friends Joker and Lex Luthor?" Vel-Zar prompted.
"Yes."
"Why don't we head inside?" Kal-El said, opening the door. "Oh! Here comes Lixa."
Kendra landed next to the four with a smile. "Hey, y'all," she said brightly. "I was told that we were meetin' here by one Superman?"
"That's right," said Kal-El, "let's go in."
