The buzz of excitement filled the air as Ash stepped into the open courtyard of Naranja Academy, where the Battle Studies class was held. The spacious field was surrounded by students, each chatting animatedly as they waited for the session to start. Ash, with Pikachu on his shoulder, surveyed the setup with a grin. He loved the energy of a good battle environment.
"Pika pika!" Pikachu chirped, equally pumped.
Before Ash could explore further, an energetic voice boomed across the courtyard. "Alright, class! Let's get those muscles moving and those Pokémon pumped! Battle Studies is all about action, not just talk!"
The students immediately straightened up as their teacher entered the scene. A tall, athletic woman in a bright orange tracksuit strode onto the field. Her confidence and enthusiasm were infectious, and she exuded the energy of someone ready to take on the world.
"Hey, isn't that Ash Ketchum?!" one student whispered.
"The Monarch himself is here?! No way!" another added.
The teacher's sharp eyes landed on Ash, and her face lit up. "Well, well, well! What an honor! The world's strongest trainer has graced my class today!" She marched up to Ash, grinning ear to ear, and gave him an enthusiastic thumbs-up. "Name's Dendra, and I teach these future trainers how to toughen up! Welcome to Battle Studies!"
"Thanks, Ms. Dendra!" Ash replied, his grin matching hers. "I've heard a lot about this class, and I couldn't resist checking it out."
"Ha! Call me Dendra—no need for formalities!" she said, waving off the title. "And you brought your Pikachu, huh? Always great to see a Pokémon as ready to battle as its Trainer."
"Pikachu's always ready!" Ash said proudly. "Right, buddy?"
"Pika pika!" Pikachu said with a determined nod.
Moments later...
Dendra clapped her hands, commanding everyone's attention. "Alright, class! Today, we've got a special treat. Not only do we have the Monarch himself, but we're gonna show him what Battle Studies is all about! Who's ready to learn?"
The students cheered, some whispering excitedly about Ash and Pikachu. Dendra turned back to Ash, her eyes gleaming with determination. "Ash, I hear you've got one of the strongest Fighting-types out there. Care to show off your Lucario in a little sparring match?"
Ash blinked, surprised but excited by the proposal. "You want to spar against Lucario?"
"You bet I do!" Dendra said, bouncing on the balls of her feet. "It'll be the perfect way to fire up the class. Fighting-types are my specialty, and nothing gets the blood pumping like a good match. Besides, you're the Monarch—this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance!"
Ash glanced at Pikachu, who nodded in encouragement. "Alright, Dendra. If you're sure about this, let's do it!"
"Now that's what I like to hear!" Dendra said, punching the air. "Class, gather around! You're about to witness a battle that'll make your Fighting-types wanna train twice as hard!"
The students formed a wide circle around the field as Dendra released her Pokémon—a lean, powerful Medicham that struck a battle-ready pose.
"Alright, Medicham, let's show them what we've got!" Dendra called, her voice brimming with enthusiasm.
Ash stepped forward, calling out his Lucario. The Aura Pokémon appeared in a flash of light, its steely gaze locking onto Medicham. Lucario's aura flared faintly, and it nodded at Ash, ready for the challenge.
"This is gonna be awesome!" Ash said, fists clenched with excitement. "Lucario, let's give it everything we've got!"
Dendra's eyes sparkled as she sized up Lucario. "What a specimen! This is gonna be the battle of a lifetime. Alright, Medicham, let's start strong with Fake Out!"
Medicham dashed forward with blinding speed, clapping its hands together with a burst of energy. Lucario flinched slightly, momentarily caught off guard.
"Shake it off, Lucario!" Ash called. "Now counter with Bone Rush!"
Lucario summoned a glowing bone of energy and charged at Medicham, spinning the weapon with expert precision. Medicham barely dodged the strike, leaping into the air.
"Not bad!" Dendra praised. "But we're just getting started. Medicham, use High Jump Kick!"
Medicham soared down, its leg glowing with fighting energy. Lucario sidestepped at the last second, causing Medicham to land awkwardly and lose balance.
"Now's your chance, Lucario! Aura Sphere!"
Lucario formed a brilliant sphere of blue energy and hurled it at Medicham. The attack connected, sending Medicham skidding back. Despite the blow, Medicham pushed itself up, determination burning in its eyes.
The students were on the edge of their seats, cheering and gasping with each move. "This is amazing!" one student whispered. "It's like watching a professional match!"
Dendra wiped sweat from her brow, still grinning. "You're incredible, Ash! But we're not giving up yet. Medicham, let's finish with Psychic! Full power!"
Medicham's eyes glowed as it unleashed a wave of psychic energy aimed at Lucario. Ash stayed calm, his bond with Lucario shining through.
"Lucario, use Extreme Speed to dodge, then finish it with Close Combat!"
Lucario became a blur, darting around the psychic waves before closing the gap with lightning speed. It unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks, landing the final blow. Medicham staggered and then fell gracefully, fainted but proud.
Dendra returned Medicham to its Poké Ball, laughing and clapping. "What a battle! Medicham and I gave it everything we had, but you're on another level, Ash!"
Ash walked over, shaking her hand. "That was an awesome match, Dendra. You and Medicham are a great team!"
The students erupted in applause, inspired by the battle. Dendra turned to her class. "See, folks? That's what dedication and teamwork look like! Now let's take that energy and push ourselves to the next level!"
As the class ended, Dendra patted Ash on the back. "Thanks for sparring with me, Ash. You've definitely got the heart of a fighter. If you ever feel like teaching a guest class, you know where to find me!"
Ash laughed. "I might just take you up on that. Thanks for the battle—it was a blast!"
