Later that day, Herald made his way up to the apartment he had provided for Jinx, Ekko, and Isha. He had asked the pair to stay downstairs in the shop while he checked on Jinx, wanting to give her the space to hear his findings privately. As he wobbled down the hall, he approached the door to Jinx's room and gave a light knock. There was a moment of shuffling, and then Jinx cracked the door open, her expression a mixture of uncertainty and concern.

"Hello, my dear" Herald greeted warmly, a smile spreading across his face.

"Ekko and Isha wanted to call a doctor for you, but I told them I would have a look since I used to be one back in my youth. May I come inside?" he adds, waiting for her response. Jinx hesitated, biting her lip as anxiety flickered in her eyes, but eventually sighed and opened the door wider.

"Yeah… but I think I already know what you're going to find…" she admitted, her worry about him revealing her secret to Ekko and Isha evident.

"Don't worry, Jinx" Herald reassured her, his voice calm and steady.

"Anything I find today, I will let you tell them." His words brought a small smile of gratitude to Jinx's face, a flicker of comfort amidst her anxiety.

"Thanks, Doc." she chuckled softly, but her heart was still racing.

Herald set his bag of old medical tools down, the sight of them stirring up memories she would rather forget. The recollections of Singed injecting her with shimmer loomed large in her mind, a haunting reminder of her past. As he unpacked, Jinx began to tremble, her body reacting to the unwelcome reminders of pain and fear that had once dominated her life.

Noticing her discomfort, Herald frowned, realizing he didn't know much about her background aside from the fact that she had faced significant hardships growing up. Wanting to ease her anxiety, he zipped up the bag and set it to the side, determined to create a more reassuring atmosphere.

"We won't use any tools. Would that make you feel better?" he asked, giving Jinx's hand a gentle pat. He watched as her eyes darted around the room, trying to focus on anything but the impending physical examination. Jinx took a deep breath, battling the swirl of emotions within her. She wanted to be brave, to face this moment head-on.

"You… you can use the tools. I'll be fine," she breathed out, her voice steadying as she spoke. She knew that getting the best chance at confirming her pregnancy was important, even if it came with a bit of fear. Herald studied her for a moment, sensing her determination.

"Alright, but I'll make sure to take it slow, If at any point you feel uncomfortable, just let me know, and we can pause or change our approach." he promised, his tone gentle.

Jinx took a deep breath as Herald began the examination, her heart pounding in her chest. The minutes stretched out like hours, each tick of the clock echoing in her mind as she grappled with a whirlwind of emotions. She focused on the sound of Herald's calm voice and the steady rhythm of her own breathing, trying to keep her anxiety at bay.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Herald finished his examination. He began putting his tools away, and Jinx watched him with bated breath, her nerves still tinged with uncertainty. Then, he turned to her with a warm smile that instantly eased some of her tension.

"Everything is fine. Congratulations, Jinx, you are pregnant," Herald said happily, his voice filled with genuine joy. However, Jinx's reaction was not what he had expected, she looked terrified.

"How the hell am I supposed to tell them? What if Ekko doesn't want to be a father? What if he leaves me and Isha? What if Isha goes with him? What will the shimmer in my body do to the baby? What if I'm a horrible mother?" Jinx started to ramble, her panic rising as her mind raced through a torrent of worst-case scenarios.

Seeing her distress, Herald quickly placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. The contact made her gasp, and for a moment, her chaotic thoughts quieted as she focused on his calming presence.

"Jinx, my dear… listen to me" he said gently.

"Ekko and Isha will be overjoyed to find out about this baby. Ekko is already a father, if you think about it. Isha may be like a little sister to you, but you and Ekko act more like a mother and father to her." his words began to sink in, and Jinx felt a flicker of hope within the chaos.

"You will make a great mother, it's all a learning experience" he continued, his tone encouraging.

"If you have any questions about how your pregnancy is going, ask me or seek out other women who have had kids already. You're not alone here. You are part of this community now, we help each other out like family." Herald gave her leg a comforting pat before getting up, his demeanor radiating kindness and understanding. Jinx took a deep breath, absorbing his words. The weight of her worries began to lift, replaced by the realization that she had a support system around her.

"Thank you, Herald. I needed to hear that, they can come up when you go back down." she said, her voice steadier now.

Herald took his bag and hobbled out of the room, giving Jinx a comforting smile before leaving. Moments later, the door burst open as both Ekko and Isha rushed in, worry etched on their faces. Their eyes darted to Jinx, silently asking her what was wrong and if she would be okay. Jinx opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. Frustration welled up inside her as she pressed her lips together, realizing how much harder it was to share this news than she had anticipated.

"So… the thing is, uh…" she stuttered, her voice shaky as nerves began to overwhelm her.

"I'm pregnant!" she shouted, shutting her eyes tight as she braced herself for their reaction. Almost instantly, she felt Isha run into her, wrapping her arms around Jinx and giggling with pure joy. It was a sound that filled Jinx with warmth. Then, she felt Ekko's strong arms wrap around her body, but he was trembling. Jinx could sense the weight of his emotions as hot tears dripped onto her shoulder.

"Ekko, are you crying?" she asked, her own voice cracking as tears began to seep from her eyes at the sight of his raw vulnerability.

"How could I not? I just found out we are going to be parents! I never imagined this would come true!" Ekko laughed through his tears, his joy mingling with disbelief.

Jinx wrapped one arm around Ekko, pulling him closer, while her other hand rested gently on Isha's back. The embrace felt like a cocoon of love and support, a promise that they would navigate this journey together.

"You're making me cry now, you asshole" Jinx scoffed, her lips quivering as tears streamed down her cheeks. She held onto them both tightly, feeling overwhelmed by the love radiating from her little family.

"So how far along are you?" Ekko asked, noticing Jinx freeze at the sudden question. Jinx's heart raced as she realized the implications of his inquiry.

"Damn, he didn't say, and I sure as shit didn't think to ask… I was scared you guys would leave me just by finding out I was pregnant!" she groaned out in frustration, feeling the weight of her worries pressing down on her.

"You thought what?!" Ekko exclaimed, disbelief etched across his face. Isha gave Jinx the same look she often did when Jinx contemplated something foolish, her brow furrowed in concern.

"I know! But I was overwhelmed by finding out I have a baby growing inside me. I thought you might not want to be a father, that I might not make a good mother…" Jinx admitted, her voice trembling as she spoke.

"I saw Vander, and he talked me into telling you. Herald also played a part in helping me. This is something I never thought would happen to me… I was scared…" As she breathed out the confession, Jinx let go of their embrace, but Ekko and Isha kept their hold on her, their grips like anchors in a stormy sea.

"Jinx..." Ekko said softly, his eyes filled with sincerity.

"we would never leave you. I can't imagine my life without you or Isha, and now with a baby? That just makes it even more special." he smiles, cupping her cheek lovingly and Isha nodded vigorously, her eyes sparkling full of affection. Jinx felt a wave of emotion wash over her as she listened to his words. The fears that had once consumed her began to dissipate, replaced by the warmth of their unwavering support.

They could always ask Herald later about how far along Jinx was, but for now, all they wanted to do was hold each other tightly, as if the world outside didn't exist. In the warmth of their embrace, Jinx felt the weight of her worries begin to lift, replaced by a sense of comfort and safety.

Then, a thought popped into her head, and her heart clenched. Vi. Her big sister still thought she was dead and might never know she was going to be an aunt. Jinx couldn't help but wonder how Vi would react to the news that Ekko had gotten her pregnant. She imagined Vi chasing him down to beat his ass for touching her little sister. The thought made Jinx smile into Ekko's shoulder, and he glanced down at her with a chuckle.

"What's with that smile?" Ekko asked, drawing her gaze to meet his.

"Just thinking about Vi. She still thinks I'm dead. She'll never know she's going to be an aunt, and then I thought about how she would react to finding out the baby is yours" Jinx snickered, watching as Ekko's face went pale at the prospect.

"She would murder me…" Ekko shuddered, fully aware of Vi's protective nature when it came to Jinx. Isha, sensing the humor in the situation, made a few hand movements, trying to convey something. Jinx laughed, interpreting her gestures.

"Yeah, we can't have Ekko dying on us. We would protect you from Vi's wrath if she were here" she smiled, leaning up to kiss Ekko's lips briefly and giving his shoulder a playful pat.

"Thanks for the backup" Ekko replied with a grin, relief flooding his features.

"But I might need more than just a kiss to survive that encounter." he adds and Jinx laughed, the sound brightening the atmosphere.

"Well, we'll just have to come up with a solid plan if it ever comes to that. Maybe we can distract her with some wild story about how I've been living my best life underground or something," Jinx chuckled, the thought of a fantastical tale bringing a lightness to her heart. She knew she would never return to Zaun or Piltover, so the chance of running into Vi again felt unlikely.

"Or we could just straight-up tell her the truth" Ekko suggested, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"That's true, but what's the fun in telling the truth?" Jinx admitted, her smile fading slightly as the complexities of the situation sank in. She wished Vi were here with them, sharing in this moment of joy, but deep down, Jinx felt certain that Vi was happy where she was—back home with Caitlyn, leading a life filled with purpose and love.

As she placed her hand on her belly, a wave of warmth enveloped her. The thought of her and Ekko's unborn child ignited a sense of hope and excitement within her. Smiling at the realization, she felt a connection to this new life growing inside her, a bond that was already beginning to blossom.

"I may not have Vi here right now" Jinx said softly, pausing for a moment.

"but I have you two with me and now a baby, and that means everything to me." She looked up at Ekko and Isha, their faces radiating with support and love.

The day continued on, and the trio made their way down to the shop where Herald was sitting back at the front desk, a welcoming smile on his face as they entered. Jinx approached him, her heart racing with anticipation.

"So, how far along do you think I am?" she asked, eager to know more about her pregnancy. Herald looked thoughtful for a moment before responding.

"Based on what we discussed earlier, I'd say you're about nine weeks along" he explained.

"In a few more weeks, as your belly grows, you'll be able to feel the baby moving. You'll likely feel it sooner than Ekko and Isha will." he adds, seeing their eyes light up in anticipation.

Jinx's eyes widened with excitement at the thought of feeling those first little flutters. She glanced at Ekko and Isha, who were both beaming with happiness, and felt a rush of warmth in her chest. The fear that had once clouded her mind was now just a distant memory, replaced by the joy of this new chapter in their lives. As Herald watched the young family interact, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride for them. The weight of Jinx's earlier fears had lifted, and her laughter filled the shop, a melody of hope and love.

Just then, Herald noticed two figures standing off to the side. A larger man with a stubby beard and a thinner man with the same cowlick that Jinx had given herself caught his eye. The misty figures watched the happy family with smiles on their faces, their expressions filled with warmth and pride.

It took Herald a moment to recognize them from who Jinx depicted them from her past when sharing stories, the ghosts of Vander and Silco. For a brief instant, he felt a chill run down his spine. They shared a moment of connection with the living, their presence a bittersweet reminder of the past. As quickly as they appeared, the figures began to fade away, vanishing into thin air. Herald blinked, unsure if he had truly seen them or if it was merely a trick of the light. He felt a surge of emotion, knowing that the spirits of those who had cared for Jinx were watching over her. Vander had always believed in family, and it seemed fitting that he would linger to witness this joyous moment.
