AN: Sorry for the short chapter. I wanted to add more but the longer it went, the more the cut-off point felt more off. so here we /

Thank you for stopping by once more :D

"There has been an issued announcement for all UA students. Regardless of which division and year level, you are to be vigilant whenever you should leave the school grounds. After the police issued a statement in response to the 89-incident, they have concluded that the villain's targets happened to be children within the age ranges between 5 to seventeen. This and the circumstantial evidence showed us that most of the victims are those who happened to have emitter type quirks, therefore-"

Aizawa stopped mid-way from his announcement to the class. Most of the 1-A students all appeared distracted, with none of them apparently listening to anything he was saying. He looked down at the main culprit, that was now squirming in his makeshift net cage that was more or less a glorified net bag. Without another word, he grabbed the netted creature and placed it under the podium table.

"Teacher! What is that thing you're holding!" Ashido was the first to speak out. "Why is it squirming?!"

"It's not a fish inside, is it?"

"He took a deep breath and glared at his class, activating his quirk. "Settle down all of you and listen. We have more important matters to discuss."

At this, class 1-A behaved.

"I don't want to waste words, but this is a matter of high alert," he continued, switching off his quirk. "When you head out into your intern studies, be vigilant when you leave the campus grounds. By now, I'd assume all of you have been informed its more than likely that those responsible for the 89-incident might have been multiple suspects. So, as you set your foot outside our halls, keep a look out for anyone you know or come across someone who might have seen a thing or too. The slashers' victims all happened to be pre-schoolers to teenagers, so there's a likelihood you all could be targeted. Understood?"

"Yes, Mr Aizawa!" the class answered.

"Now, in other news, since you all seem so interested," he then brandished the squirming object on the table once more and freed his captive. "This slippery guy's in need of constant surveillance. So far, support staff all said this guy doesn't look like trouble, but until we have the principle have a say on this, I'm holding it hostage for now."

At the revelation of the sackcloth creature on the table, class 1-A exploded with shock, awe and bafflement at the sight of it. Its head turned from side to side, observing its new surroundings like a stray animal.

"What is this?! It looks so cuute!" Hagakure squealed.

Iida raised his hand up, "Is that a newly discovered species?"

"I don't know about cute, to be honest," Kaminari said. "It looks like a walking raindoll."

"So, he brought it with him after all," Todoroki remarked.

"What do you mean?" Yayorozu asked.

"On our way back from the internship, we stumbled across that little guy, and-"

Ah! It's running towards us," Uraraka stood up from her seat.

Just as Uraraka pointed, the creature waddled its way between the seats, catching everyone's attention before its stopped at Izuku's seat.

Oh no, not again, the green-haired boy sighed.

Like clockwork, the creature immediately raised its grey rabbit doll like a child showing off its toy at him.

"Why me?"

"Cause you stepped on it, that's why," Bakugo said carelessly.

"About that," Aizawa interjected. "That thing seems awfully desperate to get close to all of you. Whatever it was that you did, it tried running away so many times last night I barely had a wink of sleep."

"Sorry for giving you so much trouble," Izuku bowed.

"I've delt with worse. That's not to say this wasn't a nuisance."

Izuku then realised the shoeprint was still on its cloth body as it continued to persist raising its doll at him. With a little reluctance, Izuku picked it up and placed it on his desk, giving his classmates a better look. The creature swivelled its head from side to side, its black bead eyes glancing at the students staring at it. It then glanced at the rabbit doll, switching its gaze from the students to the doll before it unceremoniously threw the doll on the table; picking it up and repeating the process.

"Eh? What now?" Izuku inched away from the table as the creature repeated its bizarre behaviour.

"Aw, look at that thing, acting frustrated for some reason!" Ashido gushed. "Why does it look so cute?!"

"Why's there even a shoeprint on it?" Kirishima pointed.

"Uh, well-" Izuku scratched his head.

"Never mind that, what's with the rabbit doll its bashing?" Sero pointed.

"Alright, playtime's over. I'll be taking that back," Aizawa deadpanned. "Midoriya, come up the front so you could hand it over."

"Oh, right."

Izuku stood up and picked up the little guy midway through its strange tantrum fit began walking up to the teacher's desk.

"Mr Aizawa, what is that thing anyway?" Mineta raised his hand.

"Can't we keep it with us a little longer? It could be class 1-A's mascot!"

"To answer your question Mineta, no, I've got no clue," Aizawa answered. "Second off, knowing how things go, it'll be a nuisance during class time so I'm not allowing that."

Izuku set the creature on the table and promptly returned to his seat. The creature was about to follow him until Aizawa cleared his throat at it. It raised its head up to the teacher.

"Are you gonna be a nuisance and have you dragged in here," Aizawa put the net bag before it. "Or are you going to cooperate?"

The creature eyed the bag of holding, then looked at the homeroom teacher. It turned its head to the entire class who now stared at anxiously before it looked at the doll in its hand. With a blink or two, it threw the doll into the bag and slumped its way into the net bag, crouching into it like a sulking child.

"Thank you," Aizawa said, closing the bag shut.

"I'm starting to feel sorry for the little guy," Kaminari muttered.

"What a strange creature," Tokoyami muttered.

"Teacher! What about keeping it in the dorms! It's not gonna make a fuss in there, right?" Hagakure raised her invisible hand.

"Not a chance, this guy phases through walls but not through fabrics for some reason," Aizawa said as he made his way out the door. "And who knows, this persistent thing might end up making a ruckus. That is all, class dismissed."

As soon as he shut the door behind him, the entire class erupted;

"It phases through walls?!"

No sooner after lunch started, Uraraka invited Asui, Iida and Izuku over to share a table. After collecting their meals, they settled for the first available table they could find.

"It's honestly starting to feel a little nostalgic now that almost everyone in class is doing intern studies," Uraraka said before taking a bite from her meal. "We're almost missing each other in most classes."

"Things haven't been entirely the same now after the Humanrise case," Izuku admitted. "It's just motivated everyone to try even harder after that."

"Though its all well and good that our classmates have the drive to keep the world safe. An appropriate amount of rest is important too. We are only high schoolers once, after all," Iida said.

"Huh, what's brought this up, Iida?"

"After coming back from the mission, my brother only had those words to say while celebrating our success," Iida's smile grew warm. "He was just reminding me that even after taking on such a dangerous mission, at the end of the day, we are still students in learning."

Izuku smiled in turn, opened his mouth to say something until he overheard the words-

"Have you heard? They say there's a ghost haunting UA."

"Sumi, are you really bringing this up while we're eating?" said another student.

'Sumi' the storyteller persisted, "Yeah, isn't it interesting though? There's a lot we don't know about UA's campus, so hearing about a possible spirit gate in this school sounds straight out of a tabletop session."

Spirit gate? Ghosts? Izuku couldn't help but perk his ears at his table neighbours.

"What's this about a ghost, Sumi? Care to tell your fellow party members what this is about?" chimed a feather-haired student.

"Oh no, don't encourage him," said the purple-haired student.

"Hehehe," Sumi grinned. "Alright, sit you right down folks, what I'm about to tell you is just second-hand news from a senior to us. So, our second-year senior from general studies apparently went missing today for this entire morning. Said he was out doing some last-minute studies in the library and never made it back to the dorms last night. Then, while a drone was on patrol, they found him unconscious on the ground around UA's forested areas nearby the first year dorms."

"That's not a ghost story, stupid, that just sounds like a guy who ended up sleep-walking," one of them jeered.

"Ah, but it gets better," Sumi pointed with his pen-nib finger. "When the guy was asked, he said; 'I can't remember how I got here. All I can remember was this guy in old European clothes with skin white as bones and purple eyes, carrying with him a stone and staff. Saying things like 'you do not belong in this world; I'm taking you home'. After that, the guy got woken up by the patrolling drone."

"Again, how is that a ghost story?"

"When you look at the campus map, its not physically possible for a second year-" Sumi stopped speaking, noticing he had an audience from his table neighbours. "-sorry, was I too loud?"

"Ah, no, its fine, sorry for overhearing," Izuku admitted. "But I can't help but ask. What was that about the campus map and the second-year student?"

"…Hero course, right?" Sumi pointed with a sly grin. "Riddle me this: is it possible to go from the main school library and into the second year's dorms, while crossing paths with the first year's dorm buildings? On foot, no less and without being noticed?"

"Um-"

Iida cleared his throat, "If I may, I'd like to contribute to the conversation."

"You may," Sumi nodded.

"It is possible," Iida waved his hand in demonstration. "But if our second-year senior were to do so, it would be a long and unnecessary detour towards the second-year alliance heights. I frankly cannot see why anyone would take the longer route at a late hour no less."

"Is the senior okay?" Asui asked.

"From the likes of it, yeah, he'll live," Sumi shrugged. "But again. As you said, hero course student. It doesn't make sense at all. If our senior had decided to come back to the dorms at such a late hour, wouldn't it be more logical to run to the shortest route?"

"Again, Sumi, how is this a ghost story," another of his friends retorted. "This is UA we're talking about. We have crazy-good students here who work themselves to the bone if it means getting into the best prestigious jobs."

Sumi slurped his soup before he side-eyed his friend. "What's your point, Maki?"

"I'm saying its all possible our esteemed senior must've pushed himself too hard," she retorted. "He collapsed midway from his walk home to the dorms. The end."

So general studies are also like that too, huh, Izuku mused.

"-And eventually found himself nearby the first-year dorms?" Sumi crossed his arms. "Nearby the forests? Undetected? Again, it doesn't make sense unless the spirits are involved."

"Spirits?" Uraraka raised her brows. "Why spirits?"

The general studies student nodded. "Ah-huh. I say he got spirited away on his way to the dorms. Remember that detail I said earlier? He said he couldn't remember what happened during those lost hours of the morning. Then there's him saying that bit about a bone-white stranger who told him to go home."

"Bone-white? I'm sure that's just an exaggeration," 'Maki' rolled her eyes.

"It certainly isn't. He clearly said 'bone-white."

At this conclusion Izuku couldn't bring himself to openly admit the level of lunacy his table neighbour was saying. After all, in a quirk-dominated society, there was barely any room left for any paranormal mysteries for anyone to discover.

"Okay, conspiracy theorist," another of Sumi's friends tapped his head with his hand. "Put those crazy ideas of yours to rest. It's not worth digging out the bones, as it were."

Maki, the purple-haired student turned to Izuku's table; "Sorry for the whole disturbance. After the crazy stuff happening this year, Sumi's gotten a little too excited these days."

"No need to apologise," Izuku shook his head. "I can't blame you for feeling uneasy."

"Although," Asui said. "For a student to go missing for the entire morning does sound suspicious, ribbit."

"UA is huge, though! Do you know how long it takes to run around the entire border of this school? Without using quirks?" said the other general studies student. "Wouldn't surprise me if anyone passes out when they're at their wit's end."

"If that were the case, then UA would've gained a notoriety rather than a prestigious rep before all the disasters that happened this year," Maki retorted.

"Hey, I'm just saying-!"

It didn't take long for the general students to turn their banter to each other, effectively ignoring Izuku's table.

"…So general studies folk do have their odd ones, huh," Iida mused.

"They seem like the fun kind though," Uraraka laughed.

The rest of the day flew by them like any other class, with a good chunk of class 1-A partaking in their catch-up remedials due to their intern studies. The end of the day came to a close, with Izuku leaving the support division's mess room to pick up his tuned-up support gear.

As he walked the halls of the main building, the conversation he had with those general students crossed his mind.

"…Got spirited away, huh," he murmured.

He turned to the direction of the library.

So that guy said it's illogical for a second-year student to go back to their dorms through the first-year dorms, right? He thought.

Out of idle curiosity, he decided to retrace the theoretical steps that the missing second year had taken. Starting from the library, he made his strides down the hall and into the closest building exit. From there he turned to the campus map in his phone to check where the second-year dorms were located and estimated the distance between the two locations.

"It sure doesn't look like a long walk," he then turned to the direction where the first-year dorms were. "But Iida was right. The first year dorms are from a totally opposite direction from the second-years'."

"Hitoshi Shinso from class 1-C, please report to the hero course teacher's faculty," the school's PA announced. "Hitoshi Shinso from class 1-C, please report to-"

Huh, it must be his time for training with Mr Aizawa, Izuku thought.

He then began trailing off, but rather than heading over to 1-A alliance, he headed over the opposite direction which was through the forested areas. Izuku knew the area well, for All Might had taken him within these parts whenever he had the time to help mentor him in using One for All. He experimented on walking through the forested areas with the intent to see if it was possible to find a shortcut to the second-year dorms.

To his mild surprise, he did find himself staring at the back of the building, but as he looked closer, it turned out to be 1-C's dorm building rather than the second-year dorms.

Maybe there's more to the mystery than what I initially thought.

He then turned back to the other direction, but ceased his steps at a familiar sight on the ground.

"Isn't that-?" he headed over to the fallen object.

The rabbit doll from that sack-creature.

"What's it doing here?" he muttered. "Did it drop it here by accident?"

Izuku crouched down on the ground, staring at the grey rabbit doll. Further ruminating over the homeroom period that morning, he had pondered why that sackcloth creature kept raising the doll at him. He picked up the doll without thinking, inspecting the item in his hands. The doll itself certainly looked ragged, but what surprised him was how it was heavier than most other stuffed toys.

Just as he stood up and took a turn towards 1-A alliance heights, but within a blink of an eye, the forested areas suddenly disappeared.

And in its place, Izuku found himself standing in a cold, dark ruined corridor.

"Eh?"

He turned his back again, rubbing his eyes to see if his sight was playing tricks. But no matter how many times he blinked, pinched or punched himself, the scenery did not change.

"What… where am… I?"
