Chapter 25
"But what makes this case unusual, Meiko?" Towa asks the girl. Meiko nods. "Well for a case to be solved, it's the adults who knows who did what throughout the time. But this one has a child who helped them instead. That's the unusual part of this case." Meiko smiles at them and returns the page to its spot on the bulletin board.
"So, what do you think?" Meiko asks Moroha. Still in shock, Moroha couldn't really think straight. "I'll let you tomorrow. I need to go." Moroha answers as she walks rather fast out of the room.
"Was it something I did?" Meiko asks the twins in worry in her shy voice. Towa and Setsuna knew exactly what just happened. "We don't know. We'll go check on her and let you know if we'll join the club." Towa answers first before leaving with Setsuna right behind her.
Moroha is running as fast as she can all the way back to her house. Even though the distance between the two isn't very far, Moroha couldn't shake the feeling. The moment she enters the house, she immediately went into the basement. Inuyasha is inside doing his own rounds. "Moroha? What are you doing at home? Did you found a club to join?" He asks as he puts the weights back onto the shelves.
Moroha begins to pant as much as she could. "Dad…there's…" She speaks in between the panting. Inuyasha rubs her back, "Deep breathes, Moroha. What happened? Why are you so edgy?"
Moroha calms down a minute later and sits on the matted floor. "The thing is that the club I wanted to join has a newspaper article about the case I helped you solved ten years ago."
Inuyasha didn't see that coming and sits next to her on the mat. "Who wrote it? Agents are meant to be anonymous about crimes and cases." He informs his daughter so that they get recognized by the public.
"Believe me, I'm just as shocked as you are dad. The club is a mystery club. Solving crimes and mysteries. There were other cases on the board but the one that interest the club leader was the one I told you about." Moroha explains to him.
"And you just found this out?" Inuyasha presses on. Moroha nod. "What should I do, dad?" Inuyasha wants to answer the question so badly, but he doesn't know if his answer would be helpful at the moment. "For now, you know that you and the twins are not to resume the mission."
"I know dad." Moroha said in disappointment. Inuyasha stops her, "But I'm going to let you try to get to the bottom of this club that you wanted to join in. I need you to get as much information as you can. Know who it was that wrote the article, who this club leader is, and most importantly, if this leader is really who he or she is."
Just hearing that made her smile happily. She hugs, "Thanks dad." Inuyasha returns the hug. "Anytime, Moroha."
Towa and Setsuna return home from school. They enter the kitchen to see Gin eating something. "I assumed you must've been hungry." Towa laughs nervously to see how to half bull demon is eating.
"Towa, don't be so rude and insensitive." Setsuna scolds her. Gin waves it off. "It's ok. This is how I eat anyway. There's no need for that." He places the dish into the sink. "So anything new at the school?" He asks them.
"Well, we found out that Moroha joined a club at the school." Towa starts off so far. Gin raised his thick eyebrow. "A club huh? What kind?"
"A Mystery club." Setsuna answers him.
"Hmm. I've known a lot of clubs around the school, but that one doesn't seem to appear on the list." Gin said to them.
"According to Moroha, the club is brand new and so far she's the only other member of the group. Is there something wrong with it?" Towa said to him.
"When a club wants to be known in the school, they need to have the principal's approval to proceed. Tell me did the club have this symbol?" Gin asks as he shows the twin a symbol of the school on the drama club flyer.
"No, is that bad?" Towa answers then ask.
"Seems like this club is not really approved by the principal. Were there anything odd about it?" Gin asks them.
"From what we saw in the room were newspaper articles about various crimes and cases throughout the city's history. But there was one that really intrigued the leader." Setsuna said to him.
"Yeah. The club leader named Meiko showed us an article that took place a decade ago. It was about the Purifier case and how a child was able to help solve the case." Towa adds in.
Gin hums at that. "Maybe. But Meiko isn't usually one who would want to start a club on her own. She's usually reserved and usually keeps things to herself."
"So, this is something Meiko would never attempt to do?" Setsuna asks the bull. Gin nods. "Perhaps. Unless someone crossed paths with her and somehow managed to make her do just that. Try to see if she will tell you anything. Try to get as much information as you can." He suggested to them seriously.
Towa frowns. "We would like to do that. But our father isn't letting us do anything to get information that easily. We used a recorder in the girls locker room to catch a conversation with your sister in it. My father confiscated it when I told him what happened."
Gin nods to let her know that he acknowledges that. "That could be a problem. What if this club could be linked to the mission you and your cousin were assigned to? Would that make your father change his mind?"
Setsuna frowns a little. "Even though father doesn't talk much about it. I would doubt that he'd approve it. I just want him to know that even though we want to get this mission taken care off, he doesn't want us to precede."
Gin can tell that the twins are bit conflicted about the issue. "Do you think that it's something that he doesn't want you two to know?"
Towa asks him, "Like what exactly?"
Gin continues, "Well from what I experienced, is that our parents constantly worry that something bad could happen to us. From unfortunate events like getting hurt or worst, getting killed in the process. When I was playing sports, that was what my folks worried about. It's usually a parent's instinct to protect their children at all costs."
Setsuna nods. "You have a point there. No matter how hard we want to do things that we love to do, there's no telling what can happen in a blink of an eye."
"Maybe that's what has been bothering father since your death. He doesn't want us to get killed." Towa adds in.
Gin nods. "For this club that you two stumbled upon, can you get any information about it? Maybe I can help you out."
"I think we should tell father about this, he might." Towa smiles a little. Setsuna on the other hand, isn't sharing the expression.
