Chapter 36
Inuyasha keeps on trying to get the right spot to knock out Moroha. But since she's transformed, she proved to be more difficult than he anticipated. From jumping, to leaping, to striking each other with their claws to any other ways to injure the other one.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome shouts to him. But Inuyasha has to ignore her distress call in order to remain focus on the battle. He was able to detect his nieces' scents close by. "You guys stay back!" He shouts back without looking at them. Once second later, Moroha managed to scratch him on the creek, having blood trickling down the face.
"Hmm, not bad, Moroha. But you still have a long way to go if you want to be at my league." Inuyasha teases her in his own feral voice. "You should know that I was going easy on you." He smirks at her.
Moroha screams as she charges in at him to scratch him again. "You have the gall to mock me, father."
Inuyasha didn't see that coming from her. Even in her transformed state, she can recognize him as her father. "Then why go through all of this, Moroha?" He asks her.
"I just want to be as strong as you. I bet at one point you were in the same boat as me." Moroha growls at him.
The twins can tell that Moroha isn't in her right mind. Just hearing that made them think about what she just said.
"Do you think she has a point?" Towa asks Setsuna and Kagome. Kagome looks at her. "Maybe. From the way she said it seems like she wants to remind him how she feels for being an outcast." Kagome said honestly.
"What do you mean by being an outcast?" Setsuna asks Kagome curiously. Kagome sighs. "The thing is that half demons don't have a place to call home. Back then, neither side of their heritage want to accept such a being in the group. For Moroha's case, she might think she's one herself being a quarter demon, which is very rare."
"But we're half demons too. Why is that we're not being considered outcasts?" Towa asks her. Kagome smiles at them. "Up until recently, humans and demons began to coexist with each other regardless of their beliefs they were taught and raised. You two are to be accepted due to Sesshomaru being your father. He was the one who made sure of that. As well as for Moroha."
Setsuna feels her naginata pulsating. "What's the matter with your weapon, Setsuna?" Kagome asks her niece.
Setsuna closes her indigo eyes, and she can see a red thin light floating aimlessly. 'What is that red line?" She asks in her head as she remains focus.
"That there is the Red thread of Fate." An unknown voice spoke back to her. Setsuna looks in one direction to see that the thread is attached to the Memori Nori. She can see that the tree is the one speaking to her telepathically.
"Why are you tying yourself to them?" She asks the tree itself. All of a sudden, a spirit appears in front of her. The form is a woman in a pink kimono with her long black hair to her thighs with a geisha appearance.
"I'm the spirit of this tree. I am able to read the memories of those who I attach the red thread to." She explains to Sestuna. Setsuna looks at the other end of the thread attached to Misako to her right pinky finger.
"What was it that you found out about her?" Setsuna asks the spirit. However, the spirit shakes her head. "I'm afraid I cannot reveal that to anyone else. Only I knew what the memories are."
"Then tell me how I can gain access to them!" Sestuna begs a bit louder than she thought. The spirit shakes her head again. "That alone cannot be possible. You see, memories are precious to them. Good or Bad. It doesn't matter. But there's something you might be able to do."
Sestuna sees her naginata pulsate once more. 'If I were to do it this way…' She thinks to herself. She puts the naginata under the thread and uses the open hole on top of it and pressed it gently onto the thread.
Flashback
"Are you saying that she's pregnant with him?" A younger Misako asks one teacher in the teacher's lounge.
"Afraid so, Misako. I'm shocked as you are." The other teacher said back to her.
Misako growls. "But it's wrong that an affair with two different married couples to do such a thing." The teacher frowns. "I know it's hard to believe. But what happened, happened. We cannot interfere with them. No matter what."
That alone made Misako turn around and leave the lounge very angry. "I'll make sure of that." She spoke.
Soon enough the school alarm goes off to evacuate the entire building. Misako on the other end is in the restroom, wearing a ski mask to maintain her identity so no one would know it's her, even the knife's handle is being carried by rubber gloves. Waiting for her moment to murder the two individual she deemed impure. It doesn't take long until she spots the one teacher, she knows walking up the hallway until She stabs her in the back.
A few minutes later, she turns around to spot the other teacher that is having the affair with the teacher she killed. She pulls out a gun and shoot the teacher in the chest, instantly killing him. 'You two should know better.' She said to them in her head. She then leaves the school through a different exit.
End of one of Misako's Memories.
Sestuna gasps to see such a sight.
Another of Misako's memories
After the trial that gave the verdict to plead Misako guilty of murder charges, she is put into a police truck. Sestuna easily follows the vehicle with her demonic speed she inherited from Sesshomaru. She ran along side the vehicle until it arrived at a remote prison on an island.
Still handcuffed, Misako is being escorted by two guards of the prison. "What's her crime?" A guard asks one of them. The one guard gives him the report. "Murder charges. Quite typical for a man to do such a thing. But a woman? I have to admit that what you did was the right thing." He said to her in a stern.
"Damn right I did. They deserved it." Misako snarls at him.
"You don't have the right to speak to me. Attitude or not, you are to remain here for the rest of your life. How would you feel if you were killed. According to the judge, you have to sentenced to death. How does it feel to be on death row. Since you killed two teachers, you should know that be on this path isn't pleasant."
He signals the guards to put her into an empty cell.
End of one of Misako's memories
Setsuna opens her eyes to see that Misako is mentally unstable due to the experience she went through. She walks up to Misako.
"Misako." She said to her seriously.
Misako opens her eyes, full of mixed emotions. Sestuna can tell that the mixed emotions were of angry, satisfaction, and unknowingly, sorrow, and possibly regret.
"I was angry that they had an affair. They were supposed to be faithful with their spouse. Satisfied that what I did was the right thing to do, yet sorrow that I wish I could regret my actions." Misako admits her reasons.
"And do you think that escaping prison was right as well?" Setsuna asks her bluntly.
Misako slightly looks down. "I fled the place. Lost my memories, until I spotted Moroha that made me remember who it was that put me in jail in the first place."
Sestuna turns around to see Inuyasha still trying to stop Moroha from her aggressiveness. "From the looks of it, you should be responsible for her transformation. To be honest, if you were to die, then Moroha should do just that."
Misako doesn't seem to care about the outcome. "All I wanted was revenge for what she did." She admits to Setsuna.
