It must have been about three to four hours, that had passed already, before Raphael finally appeared in the Archive as he had said he would earlier.

"Very well little mortal, you have disappointed me relentlessly the past days, but succeeded in showing me a bit of... 'Potential', let's call it. Sit down and listen well, I won't be repeating myself" he spoke and pointed at a table with chairs to the left of the entrance.

Evelin only nodded as reply and did like she was told. The devil sat across her and placed a few papers in front of him, before he flattened out a map in the middle of the table and placed a blue little figure on it.

"Those Adventurers are currently here" he spoke and placed a red stone a bit further up the map on a bridge. "I will be here waiting for them in two days and you have to bring them there" he continued and Evelin made the intent to question something, but Raphael lifted his finger warningly.

"Ta ta ta, I am not finished!" He spoke and placed a silver object right in front of the woman. "This is what I need you to find in the meantime, it is one of the keys to this mission and of utter most importance" the devil explained and pointed at the icosahedron shaped cube.

"Have you seen anyone carry this, or make use of it at any time in the past week, that you have spend watching them?" He asked and looked at her, gesturing her to answer now.

"I- ...did not. I do not know what this is" she replied slowly and reached out for the silver object to inspect it more closely.

"Not a surprise to me" the devil sighed and leaned back in his chair. "You have been blinder than a man with no eyes. All you look at is what's on the surface, you do not look at what's important, mortal"

"And what is important? I take it you will tell me that now, or where is this leading?" She replied and earned a disapproving huff.

"Patience mortal! Where was I... Ah yes! Your incompetence has been like a splinter beneath my nail and I admit I was close to sending you back to mopping the floors... Hm, but I will give you a second chance" he leaned his head on his hand that rested on the chair.

"Find out who has that little artifact hidden in their back pocket and infiltrate their group. Befriend them and get close enough to find out all their little dirty secrets, that I can later use against them in order to get what I need"

"And what is that you need?" Evelin asked carefully, ignoring the bad feeling rising in her stomach again. The awful and nasty feeling, that something was very wrong about that group.

"That isn't of your concern for now, at the moment all you need to think of is getting inside their group and then into their heads. Once you succeed in making them your little puppets, I will acknowledge that you are worthy of knowing what this mission is about" Raphael spoke and a slick smile ran across his lips. "If you play this game well little mortal, I will reward you handsomely. I may even feel generous and give you back your soul at the end of your contract, together with your brother. Then you are free to live your happily ever after, or whatever it is your little human mind is fantasizing about"

The woman's eyes widened and the devil chuckled. "Take this, read it well and make the most use out of it, you have two days. The books spread around here should assist you well and I expect those papers back tripped. Oh! And do not disappoint me again, or you will come to heavily regret that" the devil stood up and passed the few papers to her, that had laid untouched in front of him the entire time.

"I won't " Evelin replied and accepted the papers. "But- Do tell me one thing, please" she said while she looked at the folded documents in her hands. "If you are willing to give me so much in return, it can only mean that you will gain something incredibly huge in power through those people... What is it? Probably something so powerful that it would turn you into something godly and you don't tell me the full truth, because you know I would never help you getting it knowingly"

The devil laughed amused and patted the woman's head, that flinched surprised.

"Good, little mortal. Keep your tiny eyes and ears sharp like that from now on and you may not disappoint me anymore" Raphael spoke and turned away with a disgusting grin upon his lips and stalked out of the Archive, leaving Evelin behind, buried deep in worrisome thoughts.

Her eyes rested a while on the door he vanished through, before she sank deeper backwards against her chair, took in a deep breath and started to unfold the papers.

She read all 7 documents and spread them afterwards confused across the table around the map.

"What the..."

Evelin frowned deeply and her eyes went over all the profiles of all 7 group members. Where they were from, what they had been doing until they came here and some even included their family background and heritage. A few had very detailed pages and and others had mostly blank spaces.

"If he already has all of this... What does he want me to do here?" She mumbled and sighed once more, while closing her eyes.

Infiltrate the group and get inside their heads

She thought and went over everything she read in the documents inside her head again.

The Cleric of Shar Shadoweart, who was abducted as a child and whose parents are kept as prisoners in Baldurs Gate.

The Wizard Gale Dekarios, who was a famous chosen of the Goddess Mystra, but got casted out for misusing the dark weave.

The Tiefling Karlach, who got sold to Zariel and ended up in the blood war for 10years against her will.

The warlock of Mizora Wyll Ravenguard, who made a contract with Mizora as a young man to save his City, but got disowned by his father for doing so.

The Githyaki Lae'zel, a worthsipper of Vkaakith, who is from crèche K'liir, that is found in the Tears of Selune.

The Vampire spawn Astarion, who is one of the slaves under Cazador's control. A vampire resident in Baldurs Gate and one of the corrupted Underground Bosses, that got to decide many people's fates within the city.

And lastly, the Dragonborn Tav, who had nothing noted about him.

Evelin opened her eyes and looked at the papers again. Raphael said that she had two days only, for getting into their group, finding out who had that strange artefact and what it was.

She reached out for the silver object and placed it on top of her palm, studying it closer once more.

How can she find this thing and become a respected part of their group, get all of them to follow her blindly and lead them to the place Raphael wanted them in a span of two days?

Evelin sighed deeply and shook her head. It was basically impossible! But if she didn't manage it...

She could feel her body tense up as she gulped. Oh no, she had to succeed! At this point, she knew too much and he would not let any failure slide anymore.

For the sake of her brothers life and her own, she better made it possible, no matter what.

Evelin closed her fingers around the small silver object in her hand and shut her eyes once more, nodded her head and exhaled slowly.

Two days.
