"Alert more movement detected"

"Ugh, Great, if it's not endless hordes of machines, it's endless hordes of something else, why can't we get a break from all the fighting, huh? I want to go back to translating already!"

"I thought you hit a dead end Nines?"

"I know, there's not a lot of data on the other languages, but I still want to go as far as I can with what I got!"

"That's a good mindset to have."

"hehe, thanks! Oh yeah, remind me to send you the data on Valish, that's the only one I could translate" The two androids chat casually while they cut down pitch black creatures that resemble a wolf, aside from the numerous bony plates that cover their bodies, and the weird clawed hands where their front paws should be. It, of course, makes no difference to the androids as they seamlessly work together to dispatch the numerous creatures without even breaking a sweat.

"Hey Pod?" 9S asks as he stabs the last Beowulf through the head from the unarmored chin. "Are the bodies disappearing?"

2B takes a moment to look around as she notes that, yes: the bodies are indeed evaporating into thin air.

"Confirmed. the bodies appear to be rapidly turning into a form of ash that in turn dissipates within seconds." pod 153 replies.

"Is it some kind of self-destruct mechanism?" 2B asks, trying to rationalize the sight before her. "I've never seen any form of life do this before, is it actually some new machine?"

"I kinda tried hacking into one on reflex when we first started fighting, but I couldn't find any ports, at all. Besides, we cut a few of these things open. There were clearly nothing mechanical about them" So is it some form of evolutionary defense mechanism? If so it's quite clever, and also very stupid. "Well that's one way to discourage predation."

"I hope not. If the only way to ensure it's survival was to ensure that its killer gains nothing, then whatever forced that evolution must be incredibly dangerous. We need to find a way out of this forest as soon as possible. If we run into any other androids, we should warn them incase they are unaware of this danger"

"You know what, that's a great point." I REALLY should have asked more about this world9S muses as he finally makes it past the tree line to see-

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?"

Before them lies a very tall, very steep cliff.

A tall lithe man with jet-black hair and red eyes overlooks the Emerald forest from a tall cliff. He sports a grey dress shirt, with black pants On his lower back rests a wide, yet oddly short sword. Beside him stands Ozpin, dressed in a black suit with green accents, hands resting on his cane

"Hey Oz, I think I see them"

"Really?

The frustrated cry of a very young man in an incomprehensible language can be faintly heard over the wind.

"...Yeah I think so." The lithe man goes to the edge of the cliff to look at the new arrivals scratching his stubble as he thinks.

"9S look, up there! Is that an android?"

"Huh? Oh yeah, looks like it."

"No android signals detected from the top of the cliff." Pod 042 interjects.

"Huh? But that's clearly an android... Whatever. I'm going to tell him we're going up there."

"HEY WE'RE GOING UP! IT'S DANGEROUS DOWN HERE!"

...

"What?!"

"Oh that's right, I forgot they speak Valish here, let me try that again."

"HEY WE ARE GOING UP! STAY UP THERE! IT'S DANGEROUS DOWN HERE!"

Did they just speak Valish?

"Could you say that again?!"

"I SAID-" They did!

"Ozpin, you hearing this?"

"Yes I am. At the very least we won't have to worry about a language barrier... Well? don't keep them waiting."

"Uh, yeah, right. OKAY! WE'LL WAIT FOR YOU HERE."
