"Subaru, I need your help." In the midst of their daily evening talk, Emilia sprung this up to her one and only knight: Subaru, who was sitting opposite of her. Her serious tone surprised Subaru, since they were just having a casual conversation. Seeing how serious she was, he sat up straight and looked at her.
"What is it, Emilia?"
"I need to get stronger" Emilia opened her palms and cold mana started pouring out. "The fight with the rabbits made me realize just how lacking I am. I have tons of mana… but I don't know how to use it very well."
Hearing this, Subaru furrowed his brow. "Emilia, you aren't lacking, you were the key person to hold off all the rabbits, you protected the villagers and without you, we would not have sent the rabbits away with Al Shamak."
Emilia knew Subaru was trying to comfort her and she was grateful for it, but during the great rabbit fight, Subaru was upfront, running around and luring them away while Emilia stood behind, and she didn't like that.
"Mhm… Thank you, Subaru, but you were fighting them, and I was behind. I do not want that, I want to fight alongside you."
"Emilia…."
"Subaru, please."
Staring into his dark eyes, Emilia hoped that her determination would pull through and it did. Subaru sighed and gave a smile. "Looks like I can't win against you, Emilia-tan. I understand, I will help."
Feeling a sense of happiness and gratitude, she smiled at Subaru who looked down, surprising Emilia. "What is wrong, Subaru?"
Subaru rubbed his head "Nothing, it's just… Your smile is too lovely, Emilia-tan"
"Geez… Don't make fun of me in a serious time like this." Emilia pouted.
"I am not!" Waving his around with a smile on his face, he coughed and changed the topic. "Well, you did ask me to help you, but I have no idea where to start."
"Neither do I."
"Well, in that case, let's take our time to think about it, the night is long after all." Walking to Emilia's study table, he took a pen and a piece of paper. "Let's just write down our ideas."
And write down they did, they went through a few ideas. Emilia was physically strong, so they did think of martial arts, but Emilia wasn't satisfied with it. She wanted something to make use of the massive mana reserve that she had.
"Then, how about an original spell?"
"An original spell?"
She tilted her head, it was something that she had thought of before, but an original spell was something difficult to make and those that made one, are either geniuses or ones that have mastered their element to the highest degree.
"What would the spell be?"
Subaru scratched his head "I don't have anything yet, so I was hoping we can discuss and figure it out together."
"But…I reaaally don't really know what kind of spell to create."
"Neither do I, but that's why we will come one with one together."
To Emilia's hesitant words, Subaru replied back in kindness.
Those words comforted her and she nodded, as usual Subaru knew what word to use to make her feel better.
They began discussing late into the night, going from a giant ice sphere, to freezing the field in one go, to a much stronger and faster version of Huma. Subaru didn't feel satisfied by it and was constantly scratching his head as he tried to figure something out. Emilia didn't know what was the issue, freezing everything instantly felt really strong in concept and was on the easier side to master, but Subaru said that a move like that should be a "final attack" or "special move". When she stared at him, he explained by saying it's a last resort, adding that the spell he wished to make with Emilia was something versatile, something she can always rely on no matter the situation.
Realizing just how much Subaru was thinking about her, a warm pleasant feeling rose in her chest. She knew just how much Subaru loved and cared for her, but even with time passing, the gratitude and happiness she felt never changed.
As she was thinking about her feelings, she shook her head, Subaru was thinking for her sake, she should focus, she created an ice ball in her hand to mess around with it, to help her concentrate, Subaru's eyes wandered to the ball she made and his eyes widened.
"That's it!" he proclaimed loudly, startling Emilia
"Eh? What's it?"
"That!" he pointed at the ball she made.
"Subaru…I dont think throwing ice balls is better than using huma"
"No, not the ball, the act of creating the ball!"
"Oh, do you mean like creating other things?"
Subaru started getting excited and he started grinning uncontrollably, "Oh man! The things we can do! Emilia-tan, can you make a sword?! Armor? A lance?"
"Eh? Subaru, calm down!"
Calming the boisterous Subaru with her hands, he settled down and apologized for being loud, but she didn't mind, she enjoyed how lively and excited he was.
"So, you want me to create a sword?"
"Yes, can you try?"
"Mhm, I will try my best!"
With Eyes full of expectation, Subaru looked at Emilia who started focusing on creating something, and that's when the difficulty started happening, the hilt of the sword started forming, then the cross guard, then the blade. What was made was a sword in concept, but it was too weird to be called a sword, the hilt was too short, Emilia could barely hold it properly, the cross guard was so thin that she could probably snap it with two fingers, the blade was looked more like a pillow than a sharp object meant to cut.
The finished product lay on the table while Emilia and Subaru just stared at it.
"Emilia-tan?"
"I have no idea why it came out like that either..."
Subaru put his hand on his chin, seemingly in deep thought.
"It's ok! It's just the first try! Let's try again!"
"Try to make it smaller."
"Try making a part of the sword and see if it works!"
And tried they did, Emilia created over 10 different kinds of "swords" but none that could be considered one, each time after Emilia created one, she and Subaru would brainstorm and then attempt to put different methods together. However, fundamentally, there seemed to be an issue, Emilia did not know what was wrong and while she wouldn't give up on trying, she felt slightly demoralized by it.
A knock on the door could be heard, surprising the two of them inside, Emilia walked up and opened the room, only to find a sleepy Beatrice rubbing her tired eye.
"Subaru…what time are you going to sleep, I suppose..?" mumbling cutely, she walked in and went up to Subaru who looked confused, then checked the time crystal, it was past midnight.
"Sorry about that, Beako. Me and Emilia-tan have been trying to do something important."
Subaru's eyes widened and he hurriedly apologized, he carried Beatrice and looked at Emilia "Emilia-tan, lets try this again tomorrow! I know you can do it!"
Leaving that, He left the room and closed the door behind him, leaving her with the weapons she made and herself. She changed into her nightgown, dispersed the weapon and laid on her bed.
"I didn't know creating a sword would be this hard…"
She stared at the ceiling and started thinking, it certainly didn't help her morale that she didn't succeed.
"But I'm reaaally having fun while doing this."
Creating and discussing what went wrong and how to improve with Subaru was really enjoyable.
"Subaru said we can do it again tomorrow, but…"
She got up and sat on her bed, she pumped herself up, wanting to try more and experiment by herself, perhaps being able to get a breakthrough. Once again, she started creating more swords, following from the trial and error line in thinking, she made more, focusing on the blade, but she just made the blade so small that it looks like a kitchen knife, focusing on the hilt, it never felt right, focusing on the cross guard, it never ever was correct, it was either too large, small, thin, thick or doesn't look like a cross guard at all, Yet despite all the setback, she didn't give up, she diligently continued through the night until she accidentally fell asleep.
"-sama, Emilia-sama." A murky voice called out to her, awakening her from her slumber. She rubbed her eyes and her vision focused, standing in front of her bed, was Ram.
Ram bowed to Emilia upon noticing she was awake. "It is currently past noon, Emilia-sama. Ram has come to wake you up."
Emilia glanced at the Seer Crystals outside her room, those of which were glowing red. Her eyes widened, she really overslept. "Eh?!" a raspy voice came out, she coughed slightly and asked Ram "Did no one try to wake me up earlier?"
Without missing a beat, Ram replied back. "Emilia-sama, Barusu has tried, and if Barusu's loud voice was unable to rouse you, I am afraid nothing else can."
Emilia slowly got up in her bed and lightly slapped her cheeks. "Mhm, I understand, thank you, Ram. Has everyone eaten lunch?"
"Not yet, Emilia-sama. Barusu is waiting for you before eating lunch and Beatrice-sama is complaining about it."
"Really? I understand, I will get there as soon as possible. Thank you, Ram."
Ram bowed and left the room, Emilia got up and started to dress in her usual outfit, she looked into the mirror and studied her own reflection, sharp amethyst eyes, her elf ears that she usually hides with her hair, her very, very messy long silver hair. With Puck gone, she was now tasked with cleaning up after her own appearance, usually she would spend time combing her hair and tying it into her usual hairstyle, but given how late she was, she decided not to and simply went to the dinning room to eat.
Upon arriving in the dining room of the new Roswaal Mansion, Subaru, who was conversing with Beatrice, greeted Emilia without looking up, as if he knew it was her who walked in. "Good afternoon, Emilia-tan. You're up quite late today, did something ha-" he stopped his words as he looked up at her. "Eh?! Your hair?! It's so messy?!"
"Wow, Subaru. How did you know it was me?"
"I know Emilia-tan's footsteps from a mile away! But nevermind that, Your hair!"
"Subaru, will you calm down, I suppose? You're being louder than usual." Covering one side of her ear was Beatrice, Subaru's contractor spirit, her adorable face was scrunched up from the loud voice of her contractor.
Subaru turned to her surprised, and quickly apologized. "Sorry, sorry, Beako. I just got startled by Emilia-tan."
"It wouldn't be Barusu if he wasn't making as much noise as a Witchbeast."
"Isn't that too extreme of a comparison, Nee-sama?"
"No, Ram thinks it is a very accurate assessment of Barusu."
"And your sounds are just like those of a clock, Nee-sama."
"Ha! Ram shall take that as a compliment, Barusu gets to hear Ram's lovely voice as his alarm."
"Goodness, Emilia-sama. What happened to your hair?" Ignoring the usual banter of Ram and Subaru, spoke up the maid that had been silent until that moment, Frederica, drifting the conversation back to the topic at hand.
"I think I overslept because I ended up staying up late practicing my original magic, even after Subaru and Beatrice went to sleep." Emilia spoke while recounting the events which led up to that afternoon.
"Emilia-tan, you carried on practicing by yourself? Even hours after me and Beako went to sleep?" Subaru asked with surprise on his face. "Now I kinda feel bad about having you do this."
"It's fine, Subaru. I was reaaaally enjoying it. Ram told me you tried to wake me up earlier, so I tried to rush here as quickly as possible."
"Huh, so that's what happened?"
"Yes, I didn't want to keep Subaru and the others waiting, so I skipped combing my hair… Does my hair being messy like this bother you..?"
"Nah, I think that Emilia-tan's messy hair is so cute that it makes me blush, but I think it is important to always have it combed."
"Mhm, thank you Subaru, by the way where are Roswaal and the others?"
"Roswaal-sama and Otto are currently busy handling internal affairs, while Garf is playing in Barusu's new training ground."
"Garfiel really is enjoying my Parkour course, huh?"
"So it seems. Ram will commend you for being able to use Garf in a way that helps him to keep fit and be happy too"
"When are we going to eat, I suppose? Lunch is already cold at this point, in fact."
"Yes, let's." Sat down Emilia near Subaru and Beatrice's seat, and thus they began eating lunch.
"Oh yeah! Subaru, Look at what I managed to make last night!" Proudly exclaimed Emilia as she created an ice knife in her hand, which she used to cut the meat on her plate.
Subaru's eyes widened in excitement "Whoa! Emilia-tan! That's some insane progress you had! What do you think, Beako? Isn't my Emilia-tan amazing?"
To Subaru's praise, Emilia smiled happily, looking at Beatrice with high expectations.
"Betty thinks it's not good enough, I suppose. But it is surprising you managed to make this much progress in a single day. Why don't we try practicing more after lunch, in fact?"
"Oh? You will be helping us, Beatrice? Thank you!"
"It's to be expected, I suppose. Betty is Subaru's contracted spirit, and Subaru was begging to help you with the creation."
"Don't be jealous, Beako. I do have plans for our own original magic too."
"I am not jealous, I suppose! And this is the first time I am hearing about it, Subaru."
Subaru wagged the fork in his hand. "When Emilia-tan has a new magic to show, I, as her knight, also need to follow suit, I cannot afford to be behind."
"And when did you come up with this spell, Subaru?"
Shoving the food in his mouth, he nonchalantly replied back with "Just now."
Frederica raised an eyebrow "If I may, Subaru-sama, creating a spell, especially with a newly contracted spirit is a difficult task, you are working with Emilia-sama on her spell, and you have a broken gate too. I know Subaru-sama is a hard worker, but are you not working too hard?"
To Frederica's concerned voice, Subaru looked at Beatrice and casually asked "Would it be too hard, Beako?"
"Not at all, in fact."
"Well, there you have it, Frederica, my lovable partner says it's alright, so it's all right."
"Subaru-sama!"
"It will be alright Frederica, trust me. Besides, if I do go overboard, I have you, Emilia-tan, Beako, and Nee-sama to rely on to tell me to stop, right?" Flashing a huge smile, and words that convey a strong sense of trust and reliability, Frederica was stunned as she sighed.
"Goddess, you really know how to win a maid's heart, Subaru-sama." Flashing a smile that showed her beasty teeth, her tone switched from concern to one of happy acceptance. "I understand. If I feel you are overworking, I will stop you."
Having that sense of understanding done, Subaru continued munching on his food without care, not noticing that Emilia was silently giving him a smile. Following Subaru, she continued to eat while keeping in her mind to help Subaru as much as she can, perfecting her spell and making sure Subaru doesn't overwork.
After lunch, Emilia went to tidy her hair with the help of Subaru, they went to the courtyard to meet Beatrice where there is a large air-space for them to sit down.
"Emilia, can you create the knife again?"
On Beatrice's request, Emilia created the knife and passed it to Beatrice, who deeply studied the knife.
"How is it, Beatrice?"
"...It's almost a perfect ice knife, however…" Emilia looked at Beatrice, who held Subaru's hand and a dark small light started shining from the ice, followed by the ice knife shattering.
"Ah…"
"The structure and mana distribution is good. However, the amount of mana itself is not enough, in fact. For daily usage, it isn't a problem, but if this is meant to be a weapon, it's too brittle."
"I see… what should I do to improve it?"
"First, the key to creating your own magic is imagination, basic magic such as Huma, Goa or Dona have been tweaked and polished so that you don't need much imagination for it, in fact." Creating a Minya in her hand, she then distorted the shape of it, changing it to a shape of a ball and then creating spikes of various sizes on the ball. "You need to have a clear vision of the weight, the shape, the size of what you are making, it seems you can make the ice knife because it's something you are familiar with. However, this does not apply to actual weapons like swords, I suppose."
Emila shook her head in confirmation while Beatrice nodded.
"For now, we should perfect your ice knife. It's a decent start, and once you complete it, we can carry on. In the meantime, Subaru, can you bring books on weapons, I suppose? We will be needing it when Emilia is done, in fact."
"Roger that Beako~" Getting up, Subaru went to the library to fetch the books, leaving Emilia and Beatrice alone to practice. With Beatrice guiding Emilia, the practice of perfecting the knife went by quickly due to Beatrice's instructions. It was clear and easy to understand what went wrong and how to correct it. The knife Emilia now created wouldn't break easily, it felt sturdy and there was no issue with it.
"Betty must say, this was much faster than expected, good job Emilia"
"It was all thanks to you Beatrice!"
"You are being too humble in fact, without knowing anything about how the original spell functions, you managed to come this far, it is impressive."
Emilia shook her head in response to Beatrice's praise. "It wasn't just me, Subaru did a lot too, without him, I wouldn't have come this far." She put a hand to her chest, feelings of gratitude were rising as she thought of the trial and error she had with Subaru yesterday, as well as with Beatrice, who helped her reach this point. "It is also thanks to you Beatrice, so thank you." Finishing her words, she smiled at Beatrice.
Narrowing her eyes, Beatrice sighed "...I can see why Subaru is weak to you, I suppose."
"Eh? What do you mean Beatrice?"
"Nothing, in fact. Just pretend I never said anything."
Before Emilia could ask once again, Subaru entered the courtyard, shouting with a shaky voice. "Emilia-tan! Beako! Be careful!"
Turning in Subaru's direction, expecting to see him, but what she saw was a stack of books waving in front of her.
"Wah, Subaru!"
"Subaru, in fact!"
Voicing their concerns, Emilia and Beatrice rushed up and supported Subaru by helping to stabilize the books. Once stabilized, Subaru slowly put the books down and he wiped his brow of sweat.
"Phew, that was a workout." Putting his hands on his hips, he smiled at the books that he set down. He turned to face Beatrice and Emilia, both faces filled with displeasure.
"Eh? What's wrong?"
Putting one hand on her hip, Emilia went up and lightly pulled Subaru ears to his confusion.
"Ow, what's wrong Emilia-tan?"
"Don't you dare ask what is wrong, what if the books fall on you and hit your head?"
"I am conf-" Seeing Emilia's upset expression, Subaru gulped, he scratched his head and looked down "Uhm, sorry…"
"Betty prefers if Subaru would be more careful, I suppose. Even though Betty and Emilia can heal you, we prefer if you don't set yourself up to be healed in the first place"
"Yeah, I am sorry, I will be more careful."
Sensing that Subaru was indeed feeling remorseful, Emilia felt satisifed and changed the topic. "What is with all the books? Were there so many books on weapons?"
"Ah, that isn't just for weapons, since we are going on creation, I figured it would be better if we learn a lot of different things so Emilia-tan has unlimited versatility in combat."
"Hmm, that is a good idea Subaru, but one step at a time, in fact."
"It will be fine." Turning to face Emilia, "You perfected the knife already, didn't you?"
"Wow Subaru, how did you know?"
"Because I believed that you would." flashing Emilia with a confident smile that left her flabbergasted, she felt heat rising to her cheeks, Subaru's absolute trust in her was something she knew, but everytime he openly showed this trust with affection, it would send her heart racing.
Unknowing of Emilia's blight, Subaru sat down and pulled the bottom of the books and put it in the middle of the area where they were sitting. A book on swords, he also took out a small notebook and a pencil and passed it to Emilia. Staring at the items given to her by Subaru, she looked up at him and tilted her head.
"Drawing helps with imagination. After all, you don't have to waste precious mana, and drawing helps you understand how to make it in your head."
Understanding what Subaru had said, Beatrice nodded her head, impressed. "Betty has never once thought of drawing to help with creating original spells, that is a very good idea Subaru, in fact."
Subaru put a hand to his chest flamboyantly and had a look of adoration as he heard Beatrice's praise.
He put her on his lap and then started rubbing her head affectionately. "Hearing my Beako praise me makes all the work so far worth it!" Causing Beatrice to pout her cheeks and struggle to get out of Subaru's furious headpats.
Seeing their heartwarming interactions, Emilia smiled and started to check out the book that Subaru brought out. She started reading and the contents inside were extremely detailed, showing different kinds of sword designs, intricate handles, crossguards and hilts. While they looked good, it wasn't what Emilia wanted, she wanted simplicity, something she could easily imagine, like the knife she made.
She ended up flipping and skimming through the pages, she found a relatively simple sword, so she took out the notebook and started tracing the sword, and what came out was a mess, it looked nothing alike compared to the books. She frowned slightly and tried again, using the trial and error practice she had with Subaru as an idea, one step at a time.
And she was slowly improving, she paid attention to the length and width of what she was drawing, when she felt she didn't draw it correctly, she would erase and try different methods, different ways of drawing to make sure she perfected what was drawn.
A sense of satisfaction welled up within her as she continued to see small but clear improvements, being so completely engrossed in it that she did not notice that Subaru and Beatrice were intently smiling at her dedication.
Hours passed by as Emilia continued to draw without paying attention to her surroundings, a page gets filled, erased, flipped and the cycle repeats and repeats until she felt a tap on her shoulder, she snapped out of her trace and looked at the person who tapped her, looking at her with a huge smile, was Subaru.
"Emilia-tan, it's going to be dinner soon."
Emilia, confused by this, now noticed that the sky was orange, the sun was setting and nightfall was coming. She had been engrossed for that long.
She stood up and stretched, she looked around and saw a mess at a corner of the courtyard, Subaru turned to look at where she was looking and let out a sound of understanding, "Ah."
"Dont worry about it, Emilia-tan, this was me and Beako testing out our mana limit, we managed to get a rough idea on how much mana we can spend."
"Is this for your original spell?"
"Yup, it's going to be hard to create a spell with this little mana, but I will make do with it." said Subaru nonchalantly.
Emillia regarded Subaru with a look of respect. Emilia, with her vast mana pool and help from two people, only felt somewhat confident in being able to create an original spell, yet Subaru was saying he would create one with such little mana.
Most people who would hear what Subaru had said would say he was underestimating how hard it was to create an original spell and would call him an ignorant fool, but Emilia just felt he would do it, that he would accomplish his goal and come up with a spell that he can use despite his setbacks, and if Subaru felt that he could do it, that means she can too. She had to work harder.
"Where is Beatrice?"
"Ah, Beako went to the dinning hall already, she got hungry and decided to wait there first."
"Shall we make our way there then?"
Nodding to Emilia, they both walked to the dining room where the same group of people from lunch was waiting, sitting down in the process. Emilia, instead of picking up the silverware, created her own, a perfect replica of the cutlery on the table.
She lifted it up to show Subaru with a huge smile on her face. Seeing the perfect replica, Subaru let out a sound of amazement, he took the knife from Emilia and examined it.
"Wow Emilia-tan! It really feels like the real thing!" proclaim Subaru while cutting his food.
Hearing such praises, Emilia smiled "Thank you Subaru, drawing did help with imagination."
"I am glad my methods helped, but how is creating a sword going?"
"Hmm, I have not tried it yet, but drawing was so much fun! I did not know time could fly like that!"
"Oooh! Emilia-tan finding a new hobby!"
Emilia was happily telling Subaru about her drawing adventures, and Subaru was listening attentively, the two of them ended up in their own little world of conversation while the rest of the people in the dining hall didn't want to interrupt them.
Soon, dinner passed and they went back to the courtyard with Subaru, Beatrice and Emilia sitting at their spots.
Emilia started to form her sword, her drawings engraved in her mind, the shape of the crossguard guard, the length of the handle, the sharpness of the sword, it was all coming together. Soon, an ice shaped sword was formed in her hands, an actual real sword.
However, there was still an issue, it felt… weird. The sword's appearance was fine, but the sword weight felt really off, uneven. Emilia's smile turned into a frown when she twisted the sword around and tried swinging it, but the sword just flew out of her hand.
"Ah…." She let out a soft voice as she saw the sword drop on the floor with a soft ting sound.
Moving up to Emilia, Subaru let out a voice of concern "What happened, Emilia-tan?"
Emilia pursed her lips, "The sword… it looks good, but the weight is off." Picking up the sword, she passed it to Subaru who held it and the sword tilted forward and the tip of the sword slammed on the concrete ground.
Subaru let go of the sword and his eyes widened. "That… is very heavy."
Emilia nodded and started to ponder, she thought she did everything fine, the sword didn't break despite hitting the floor twice, so the mana distribution seems to be ok, but now the weight of the weapon is unbalanced.
She did progress quickly, but there were more requirements to go through before she could create a perfect ice weapon. She pumped her fist, she was prepared to go through more trial and error into the night when Beatrice poured water all over her resolve with, "Alright, let's continue tomorrow, I suppose."
"Eh? Beatrice, are we not going to continue?"
"Yeah, Beako, Emilia-tan already created an amazing looking sword! It's just a small error that we can probably fix!"
Both Emillia and Subaru crowd on Beatrice with looks of sadness, causing Beatrice to recoil slightly
"Geh, you two are like little kids, in fact. We are stopping for today because there is no need to rush. For Emilia's first day, this is impressive. However, as you can see, there is still much to improve on, and it's better to do it with a fresh mindset." Taking a short breath, Beatrice's tone switched to a lighthearted one. "Besides, I doubt Subaru would want Emilia to miss out on Breakfast again."
Emilia pouted "It was only one time, Beatrice."
"And that one time cost Subaru to constantly ask you for the entire morning, completely ignoring Betty like dinner just now, I suppose."
"Come on Beako~ don't feel jealous. I will give you a super tight love hug later before bed."
Subaru said as he opened his arms, beckoning Beatrice to go into his arms, Beatrice's face turned red "Your usual hugs are full of love already, but if you insist, Betty w-will return the hug too…"
Hearing that, Subaru had a huge grin on his face "Ahhh! My Beako is so cute, you truly are the best partner."
"That's only to be expected, in fact."
Emilia truly loved seeing Subaru and Beatrice interact, but she heard what Beatrice had said, Subaru missed her, despite it only being breakfast, the thought of Subaru being sad because Emilia wasn't there sent her heart beating warmly.
"Sorry, Subaru. I won't miss breakfast tomorrow, let's eat together, okay?" Emilia flashed a thumbs up as she smiled, similar to how Subaru does.
Subaru flashed a thumbs up back in the same fashion. "Okay! I will be waiting for you, Emilia-tan."
Emilia picked the sword and dissolved it back into pure mana. She looked at the books in the courtyard, "Should we move them back to the library?"
"Ah, we don't have to worry about it, I talked to Clind earlier and he said he will place them in the mansion when we are going to sleep. He will put it back out the next morning."
"Isn't that bothering Clind-san?"
Subaru scratched his head. "I told him the same thing, and he just said that its fine and he is happy to help."
"Mhm, should we give him anything as thanks?"
"We will just push it onto Roswaal to give him one."
"Don't bully Roswaal too much now." Emilia said with a faint smile
"Can't be helped, Clind is under Roswaal, after all."
"Betty agrees, I suppose. Just let Roswaal handle it all, in fact."
Emilia simply giggled "Hehehe, come on now, you two." She looked at her notebook that was on the ground, bent and picked it up.
"Emilia-tan, don't tell me you are going to continue working into the night."
Emilia waved her hand "No no! I just want to check on my drawing and see if I did miss anything out."
"Hmmm... I understand. Just don't work over the night, alright?"
"Geez, Subaru, you dummy. I already said I won't."
Subaru lifted his hand in apology with a smile in response to Emilia's pout. With the conversation being finished, they said goodnight to each other and retired to their respective rooms.
Emilia changed into her nightgown and rested on the bed, she stared at the ceiling, and then brought her arm out and created the sword from just now, but she purposefully made it brittle and light. She studied it like a little kid obtaining a new toy, she started smiling uncontrollably, this was her effort given form. A sense of pride welled up in her, this was the start of it all, the start of her original spell, something that belongs to her.
"I need to make sure I don't work overnight…" mumbling to herself, she dissolved the weapon, and then started thinking, deeply thinking about changing minor details about the sword. She didn't want to work too hard, but she wanted to practice a bit more.
Forming a sword of her imagination, it didn't come out the way she wanted to, the hilt changes weren't exactly like she imagined, and she was fine with it. Emilia didn't expect to perfect it in a day, so she continued, dissolving and creating, a process that she has become used to. Practicing and practicing, the more she did, the better she got. She wanted to continue late into the night, but she didn't want to be late for breakfast again, so she held back, she closed her eyes to await the next bright day.
