AN: Recently Twenty-Five Acts was on and once again I started to miss Barba. In the universe The Undiscovered Country never happened. Unbeated, so I'm sorry for all errors.

Rafael Barba smiled as the guilty verdict came and the trial came to an end.

A smile of pride and relief.

He had just recently been elected to Jack McCoy's old job as he had finally retired.

But before that he'd spent many years as ADA for the Special Victims Unit, after he had left Soony Carisi had taken over his old position.

He turned to see a tall, beautiful, brunette come into the courtroom and smile at him.

A memory of the past came to him.

He smiled at his old friend Captain Harris and saw he had two women with him.

One was a blond and the other was a brown haired woman and slightly taller than the other one.

"Is it take your daughters to work day?" He had asked Harris, then had grinned at the two ladies.

The blond woman had smiled a shy, amused grin but Barba's gaze had zeroed in on the brunette.

She looked amused and somehow was rolling her eyes in amusement without actually doing it. Her entire manner projected true confidence.

He learned her name was Detective Olivia Benson and life was never the same again.

Barba came back to the present.

Olivia grinned at him, "Penny for your thoughts?"

"Every time I see you in a courtroom I'm reminded of how we met, how you still take my breath away."

"Always a charmer," She replied, smiling at him tenderly.

"Ready to go?"

Olivia nodded, "Always." She took his hand and together they headed home to see Noah, their son, and Marissa, their five-year-old daughter they had adopted last year.

Who could've known one meeting and one gaze would eventually bring such happiness, but it had.
