The moon had now moved far away from her window, and the silence of the room was only broken by the quiet breathing of Sarah and Jareth. They lay next to each other, the distance between them defined only by the air and the tender glances they gave each other.

Jareth reached out his hand, his fingers tenderly finding Sarah's. Her skin felt warm and soft, and the closeness between them was like an invisible bond that brought them even closer together.

"Sarah..." Jareth whispered softly, his voice just a warm breath on her skin.

"Yes?" Her answer was just as quiet, almost a whisper, as if the words were not allowed to disturb the tenderness of the moment.

"I've thought about you so much over the last few years. And now, here with you, I know that I can't live without you." Jareth gently ran his fingers over her hand, as if he wanted to deepen the meaning of his words even further.

"You turned my life upside down, Sarah. I know you're not sure what that means... but to me it's more than just words. It's the feeling that's growing inside me, getting stronger and stronger. I want you with me. Forever. Come and live with me."

Sarah's heart beat faster as she caught his gaze. A moment of silence passed, and she felt her own feelings bursting inside her, like a river that had been held back for a long time.

"I...I don't know what to say," she began hesitantly as her hand ran down his arm. Her eyes searched his as if she wanted to find the answer in them. "But I feel it too. I feel that we belong together. But..." She hesitated, her words seeming to weigh more than the air itself.

"But?" Jareth leaned closer to her, his breath gently brushing her skin. He wanted to understand her, didn't want to see a second of uncertainty in her eyes.

"But I can't just leave everything here behind, Jareth. My family, my friends... everything I know. I... I couldn't be without them." Her voice was quiet, but the determination in it was palpable.

Jareth closed his eyes for a moment, as if he needed to let the words pass through his mind. Then he opened them again and pulled her closer. "I understand that, Sarah. I know how important all this is to you. I don't want to force anything on you. But can you imagine us finding a way?"

She looked at him questioningly as he continued. "We don't have to live with me. Not always, anyway. Can you imagine us being together in your world and in mine too? Alternately, I mean. That way you can be with your friends and family whenever you want, and I can have you with me when you want to stay away from the distractions of the world. We could commute between worlds, Sarah."

Her eyes widened in surprise and a small smile played on her lips. "You would do that?"

"I would do anything for you, my love," he answered seriously, his hand gently stroking her hair. "I want you in my life, Sarah. And I will find a way to always have you with me. In both worlds."

The heaviness that lay in her thoughts began to subside and Sarah suddenly felt infinitely relieved. It was not the final decision that she had feared, but a new beginning, a compromise that would allow them both to preserve their world and still live their togetherness.

"I... I can imagine that," Sarah finally whispered. Her heart was calm now as she looked into Jareth's eyes and she knew that she was no longer alone in her feelings. "I want that with you."

"Then it's decided." Jareth leaned forward and kissed her forehead. He moved to her mouth and they both gave in to a kiss.

It was a tender kiss that promised everything that was to come – the tenderness they had always wanted but never thought possible.

When they separated again, their hearts were in harmony. Their decision was not just for the moment, but for the life they wanted to build together. And that was enough.
