A/N: Hi all! While this isn't my first time writing it is the first time I've published a work! To be clear I don't own the rights to Kingdom Hearts and I'm sure this story will change when Missing Link comes out eventually but for now enjoy it and reviews are always appreciated!

Chapter 1

The screams of agony echoed across the battlefield, the clash of blades rang out and a young man sprinted as hard as his legs could carry him. The blade in his hand felt heavy, slick with blood. Either his own or others he couldn't tell. His frantic attempt at escape was suddenly stopped by a wall of fire, too tall to get over and with no way to run through. Standing in his way was a towering figure, his blade resembling a large warhammer spattered with the blood of his fallen foes. A mask resembling a bear covered the top half of his face, and he raised his blade to strike down the young man.

With a jolt he was awake, a pile of books and journals lay strewn across the library table, his breathing rapid.

'That dream again, that's the seventh time in a row I've had it. Why? Am I too deep into learning about the Lost Masters?'

He ran his hand through his hair, taking a deep breath to calm his racing heart. Sunbeams entered through one of the windows, casting a glare onto the table. He stretched and stood, walking towards the window and looking out to the city below. The tower stretched down like a mountain, homes and stores expanding towards the ground, all connected by cable cars that carried the townspeople from their homes to the square.

Exhaling again, he turned to gather up the books he had been nose deep in, only to be met with a pair of bright green eyes in return.

"Stars alive Nyx! Haven't I mentioned not to do that to me?" He yelped, watching as the young woman's eyes closed while she laughed.

"You make it too easy, Lucan! You slept through breakfast again and I figured you would be here! I'm surprised you haven't just put a bed in here at this point," Nyx's nose crinkled as she smiled and pushed a few strands of jet black hair behind her ear.

"Ha! I don't think Master Odin would appreciate that. Besides it's not like I'm getting good sleep no matter where I am," Lucan gathered the books and summoned a gust of wind, sending the tones back to their homes on the many stacks.

"The nightmares again? You really should talk to someone about that, you're not exactly 100% in training since these dreams started and the others are noticing," Nyx sat on the table, crossing her legs and staring at Lucan intently.

Lucan clenched his jaw. Sometimes he wished his twin sister wasn't so good at reading him. It could be rather grating, particularly when they'd had this conversation before.

"Let them notice, it's not like I'm going to be a Keyblade Master anyway, being a Seeker of Knowledge sounds much more intriguing," Lucan mused, picking up the tricorn hat and long coat he'd placed on the back of his chair.

"Lucan…that's a dangerous line of thinking to go down. Seekers are hardly ever seen and can get rather…reclusive if they're not careful," Nyx added, a note of concern in her voice. "Not to mention that there hasn't been a Seeker since the city was founded, and they almost destroyed the whole world in their pursuits."

Lucan sighed gently, "I know. I've done the research on the Seeker, and it's not like I'm going to end up deep in studying darkness. Look, I have enough on my plate trying to dig into the Lost Masters without needing to worry about the Mark of Mastery. Can we talk about this later?" He swung the coat on and walked past Nyx, offering his sister a warm smile as a bell tolled above them.

"I'll hold you to that, brother. For now, I'm going to enjoy kicking your butt in training!" Nyx jogged past her brother, who had returned to his thoughts.

'What's the source of these nightmares? Is it a vision? A warning? There's been peace for over a hundred years so why do I feel like that's going to change?'
