Author's Note: Hello, dear readers and Happy New Year!

Again, I apologize for the delay. After posting the last chapter, I went back to working on one of my other stories, and then things got busy for me.

I trust that you all had a splendid holiday season, mine was great as well. Recently, I was under the weather but I'm feeling much better. I went out of town for two days this week and then came back.

So, I finally got off my lazy behind and got back in the saddle to write another chapter.

Once again, thank you to Boris Yeltsin, Crimson Commander688 and Blood for Ink for the reviews. And thank you to those who recently favorited and followed. I hope you enjoy the latest chapter.

Riverdale solely belongs to Warner Bros., the CW, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Some OCs are mine and some are Boris Yeltsin's.

Chapter 86

Meanwhile, Archie is sitting on a bench, thinking about Valerie's advice. Then, he remembers what's been happening to him. For all the times he spent alone, sitting in the locker room. Seeing all his teammates run and tap Jason's locker. Archie running his fingers to his last name and finally remembering when Coach Clayton handed him Jason's jersey and his first football game wearing the number (before coming clean about him and Ms. Grundy).

Archie looks up and he stared at the number Valerie gave him. He hesitated on calling, but at last he goes for it. Quickly typing the number in, he waited for Oscar Castillo to pick up the phone.

"Hi. Mr. Castillo? Yeah, my name is Archie Andrews, I'm a friend of Valerie's" Archie said.

The next day, Archie is at Carson College, sitting across from Oscar Castillo, who's looking at the teenage boy in front of him.

"Talk to me about your music." Oscar said.

Archie nods. "I started writing music this summer, Mr. Castillo." He started to say.

"Oscar." The music mentor corrects him.

"Oscar." Archie said, nodding. "After this kid at my school went missing. It's his... It's his wake this week. Actually, the first song I wrote was about him." He explains.

Oscar stares at Archie and continued. "How many hours a day do you spend writing?" He inquired.

"At least a couple." Archie answers.

"That's going to change." Oscar says.

Archie nods in agreement. "I know. And it will. Especially since I'm no longer on the football team."

"Football team?" Oscar asks in a tone, that Archie didn't care for.

"Yeah, I used to play football, is that a problem?" Archie asked him.

"You tell me." Oscar replied. "Before I sold my first song, I was in the studio all day. Waitering and bartending all night. There's no short-cuts, unless you're a prodigy." He stood up, getting coffee.

"Definitely not a prodigy." Archie said, chuckling a bit.

Oscar sighs and stared at Archie, walking towards him a bit. "Do you have songs I can hear?" He questioned.

"Yeah, yeah." Archie responds, pulling his USB out and set down on his desk.

Oscar simply stared at him. "Where are your sheets? Your sheet music?" He asked and sat down on the desk.

"I don't teach performance, I teach song writing. I focus on craft, composition, lyrics. To even talk about your songs in a constructive way, we need to be on the same page. Like, on actual pages." Oscar said, as he pointed to the stack of music sheets he had.

Archie nodded. "Okay, I'll write my songs out for you." He said.

"For tomorrow." Oscar informed.

"Tomorrow?" Archie asked, wide eyed.

A/N: Well, Archie, at least you tried. You're off to an interesting start though.

OK, so this chapter was short, but not too short. Hopefully, the next few chapters are a bit longer.

Up next, Tom Keller and Charles Smith pay Clifford and Penelope Blossom a visit at Thornhill, regarding details about Jason's wake.

I am so looking forward to writing more chapters. So, more to come!
