Chapter 1
Deb's POV
As soon as I get home for the night, I call my friend. As I search through my contact list and find the name (y/n), I immediately hit call. As soon as she picks up, I tell her everything about the case were working. All she gives me is "I'll be there in the morning."
(Y/n)'s POV
I knew this would happen eventually. I'm sure I know who it is and who made them. I do feel for this young vamp but I have to kill him so we aren't discovered by hunters again and this kid is not being lowkey as he should. I get on my phone and book the next first class ticket to Miami. God I hate the hot weather.
The next morning
As the plane is descending into Miami, I call Debra to pick me up from the airport. As I wait, I notice how everything has changed since I was last here and I'm sure I will get the whole fill in from Debra because she likes to talk. While some find it annoying, I find it endearing when she babbles on and on. She will get excited about the things she finds interesting and then is quick to go over the things that aren't that interesting to her. I wonder how much she has changed since I've last seen her, I know she made detective not too long ago and there is that nasty Ice Truck Killer around now, I sure hope whoever it is doesn't run into this baby vamp.
I see Debra finally pull up with a male in the car with her who is on edge about being here. I can see and feel him analyzing me like he is trying to figure me out and find out my secrets, but not even Debra can tell him. As we are putting my luggage into the trunk of her car, she tells me that the male is her stepbrother Dexter. On the drive back to what I think is going to be Debra's apartment, she tells me that I will be staying with Dexter as he has an extra room in his apartment. I look at her and get out of the car and let Dexter unload and take up my luggage to my room for the next couple days. "What about my diet? It's not something that is easily hidable in a single fridge with someone who doesn't know."
"I thought you still hunt, what happed to doing that."
"I'm trying to turn over a new lead on life until my next break or decade arrives, which ever one happens first."
"We will figure something out, can't you just fucking compel him to not tell anything he sees while you are here."
"Debra, again. I am trying not to use my extra senses on humans unless necessary."
At that time, Dexter surprises us. I glare at Debra not knowing if her brother had heard any of our conversation. For his luck, I hope not, but I am glad that I get some nice eye candy for the next couple days.
Dexter's POV
It's early in the morning when Deb calls me to come with her to the airport to pick up a friend from out of state. For as long as I've known Deb, she has never mentioned this friend and it's not like Deb to keep a secret from me. She tells me everything even when I don't want to hear it like the details of her and Rudy's sex life. When we pull up to the airport I see this (h/c) headed girl who is about (y/h) and (y/w) standing there. Deb exchanges the normal pleasantries but doesn't introduce us formally. God I hate when she doesn't do that, my mask hinges on what other people think of me. As we get to my apartment, I get the sense that (y/n) doesn't know that she is going to be staying with me. Of course Deb would leave out critical information like that, so I task myself with taking her luggage into my spare room and setting it down. This woman has very expensive tastes or is that what she wants people to think, she seems more humble than materialistic. As I go back down to the car to greet them and say my goodbye's to Deb, I overhear the last part of their conversation. "…my extra senses on humans unless necessary." What does that mean, please tell me Deb didn't bring a basket case into my apartment and life for the next couple of days. She looks put together but so do I. I think of all the secrets I am keeping then look at (y/n). I need to know what secrets are hidden beneath her mask.
