Initially, Ylwa was devastated to learn that Farkas and Vilkas had grown to adulthood without their mother around. She had truly believed that she could eventually make it back to them and experience all of the joys that came with raising a beloved child. But that despair gave way to hope, as she now knew that it wouldn't be too long before she got to see them again. She had learned that, once Vilkas arrived in Sovngarde, both of her sons would be coming, along with other cured Companions, to rescue those who were trapped in Hircine's Hunting Grounds. Aela had said that Vilkas was a good, old age - had grandchildren even. This meant that her wait to see them again was mostly past. The time that remained would be short compared to the time that she had already spent here.

On that fateful morning, Ylwa awoke to the sound of a ruckus going on in the hallway. She rolled back over and pulled the blanket over her head. She hadn't slept nearly long enough yet. The hallway had a ruckus far too often, so she didn't think much of it. But soon, someone ran into the sleeping quarters and announced, in a voice excited but cracking with emotion, "They're here! They've come to take us to Sovngarde!" Ylwa, and everyone else who was still abed, leapt up and ran for the door. Companions were flooding out of the sleeping quarters and up the stairs.

"Go! Go!" she heard someone saying, while gesturing to the door.

"Look for stragglers!" was shouted from somewhere.

The general movement of the crowd was towards and then through the front doors, and she followed. She saw the outsiders - those who smelled foreign and entirely human - without wolf blood. They were just outside of the front door.

"…and will be sending more of his subjects our way. Don't expect you will be allowed to leave without a fight. We must make haste! Is everyone here yet?" he asked. One of the Hunting Grounds Companions came out of the door behind the rest of the crowd.

"That's everyone who's here. There are a few reported to be out," he said.

"Send someone after them with all swiftness and then come and find us. We will likely meet opposition, so you should have time to catch up with us," the man ordered. "The rest of you, let's go."

The group took off at a run in the direction in which the Sovngarde Companions were leading them. Ylwa began searching the crowd for the two she had been waiting so long to see again. They were probably here! She didn't know what they would like like. She sniffed the air. Through the heavy scent of excitement and nervousness, she thought she detected one of them on the outside edge of the crowd. Now is not the time, she thought, but she couldn't help herself. She worked her way in that direction.

Eventually, she spotted him - Farkas, she believed - running alongside the crowd. He was a strong and handsome man, dark hair streaked with silver falling to just below his shoulders. She fought back tears while edging closer, hoping to speak with him. What she wanted was so much more that. She wanted to take him into her arms and embrace him, telling him how loved he was and how she had thought of him every day. But there wasn't time for that now.

Howls began off in the distance. The Hunting Grounds Companions began to look around nervously. The Sovngarde Companions either didn't notice or didn't care. Someone told the leader of the Sovngarde Companions. He ordered them to keep going, no matter what happened. He said that they would take on any foes, because if they perished here, they would just return to Sovngarde, rather than wake up on the other side of the Hunting Grounds. He told the Hunting Grounds Companions to keep pushing on towards their goal, no matter what. Further on, the source of the howling appeared. It was a small pack (or part of a pack), headed right towards the fleeing group. Hunger and lust for the hunt gleamed in their eyes. Most of the Sovngarde Companions, including Farkas, pulled away from the group to hold these enemies off. Ylwa kept going, only glancing back once for another look at her son. She would see him again, either here or there.

The Hunting Grounds Companions who had been out hunting caught up with their friends. Everyone was accounted for. Soon, those who went to fight off the enemy pack caught back up as well. "We are nearly there!" their leader announced.

When they got close, they saw an entire horde. There was a battle occurring - werewolves and humans fighting other werewolves and Hircine's strongest predators, all near what appeared to be a shimmering rip in the air. "You need to make it through that opening as soon as you safely can!" the Sovngarde leader declared to the Hunting Grounds Companions. "Let us fight this battle."

The Companions that had been accompanying them threw themselves into the fight, and began to push it away from the rip. The Hunting Grounds Companions approached the opening and stared at it in wonder. Finally, someone pushed through the crowd and said, "I'm going through! Sovngarde awaits!" and plunged through, vanishing from sight. Soon others began to follow. Ylwa looked longingly over to the battle. Farkas was there. She couldn't tell if Vilkas was or not. Before she was ready to go, she was in the front of the crowd. With tears pooling in her eyes - she wasn't sure if they were of joy or sorrow - she pushed herself into the opening, and found herself in a different land.
