Ylwa took a moment to orient herself. This land was mountainous. The place where she and the other Companions were piling through seemed to be a valley. It was surrounded by high peaks off in the distance. The sky above was streaked with color and dotted with stars. It appeared as though she was not the only one who was in awe of the new surroundings. The air here smelled clear, unlike the thick air of the Hunting Grounds.

After several tense moments, the Sovngarde Companions started appearing in front of them. As each one appeared, the Hunting Grounds Companions cheered for them and praised their courage in coming to free them. Eventually, Vilkas came through. Ylwa went running up to him and caught him in a big hug. Tears began streaming down her face. He stiffly patted her on the back a couple of times, and as soon as she released him, he stepped back uncomfortably. All Ylwa could think of to say at the moment was, "Thank you."

"You must have really hated the Hunting Grounds," he commented. "I am glad that we could bring you here." Then he walked away from her. She was surprised that she wasn't more hurt by his dismissal. All these years, and he takes her joy as nothing more than happiness at being in Sovngarde. Yet her mood was not dampened. She was here, with him, soon to be with them, for the first time in what must have been decades! All was well with the world.

Farkas was the last one to come through the opening between worlds. Ylwa eagerly began to approach him, when someone else - a woman who had been standing beside Vilkas - stepped up to him and spoke to him quietly. His face became downcast as they spoke, and she embraced him. They both hugged for a time, and Ylwa thought she could see unshed tears in the woman's eyes. While this was happening, someone was closing up the rip that had allowed them to cross from that world to this. Farkas and the woman turned to look at the closing gap, and then she embraced him once more, spoke to him again, and then walked away, leaving he and Vilkas standing alone. The two brothers stared silently for a time at the place where the rip had been.

The crowd began to slowly move away. Vilkas said something else to Farkas, to which Farkas shook his head. Vilkas patted Farkas on the shoulder and then went to rejoin the woman who was waiting for him near the edge of the group.

Ylwa took this opportunity to move in. She walked up to Farkas and asked him, "Did something go wrong today?"

"No. I'm glad we could bring all these people here," he said.

"I know we are all very glad to be here. It seems like your valor has been wildly successful. So why the sadness?" she asked.

"There was someone I was hoping would join us who didn't," Farkas replied.

"Someone who chose to stay behind in the Hunting Grounds?" she prodded.

"Yeah," he said.

"They must have been happy there," she said. "For some, the Hunting Grounds is the ideal life." Farkas didn't respond. "But your ideal afterlife would have included this person," she observed quietly. "I know that this won't make your loss any less painful, but my ideal afterlife includes you. Thank you for making that a reality," Ylwa told him. Farkas gave her an odd look.

"You look like my niece. Who are you?" Farkas asked.

"Are you ready to talk about this? If you need some time…" she trailed off.

"I'm not gonna like this, am I?" he asked.

"I wish I could say," Ylwa responded.

"Maybe you should tell Vilkas instead. He'll know what to think about it."

"Maybe I will," Ylwa responded. "Now, tell me more about you."

The two of them spent the rest of the walk talking about Farkas - what his life had been like, what was important to him, and what he knew of his past. Ylwa learned as much as she could about his likes and dislikes. She learned about some of the achievements that he was the most proud of. She also learned that he had never even been told his mother's name, and that Jergen had left the two of them to go fight in the Great War. These last two bits of information were news to her.

At the end of their walk they saw a giant building looming across a bridge. While the leaders negotiated their entrance into the Hall of Valor, as she learned the building was called, Ylwa wondered where Jergen would end up after she destroyed him. He had not told their pups about her, and he had abandoned them to go be killed in the Great War.
