The absolute joke that in the two days I was writing this I got sick...wow

"Missed call from: Bingo"

"Really Bingo?" The 12-year-old white Maltese thinks, with a part of her face still buried in the pillow on the bed in her dark room.

The beginning of school for Lila Maltese…was not what she expected.

Unlike Bingo, Lila was more open and excited about the transition from Glasshouse to middle school. She was willing to grow and change.

But when she woke up yesterday to get ready to go out, she felt what every child, adult, and grandparent feared…a nagging pain in her throat.

It wasn't long before Lila's symptoms worsened to a full-blown flu, causing her to unfortunately miss her first day of school.

As the hours passed, from morning to the next morning, Lila's condition worsened to the point that her tired body could do nothing without an impressive effort, so sadly, she had to settle into her bed to rest.

Sure…If Bingo left her

Lila opened her eyes with a worsening pain in her throat and nostrils blocked with mucus. As a growing teenager, she grabbed her new phone and turned it on to see the missed call from Bingo.

"She called me last night," Lila thinks, still staring at the screen. "What could have happened?"

However, the smell of his mother's top-notch cooking reaches his clogged nostrils… Bacon, pancakes, and eggs… such a simple yet delicious combination.

"That smells so good, "Lila thinks, sniffing as best she can with her red nose." This is worth getting up for."

Lila throws off the heavy pink sheet, slowly but painfully straightens up, and stands beside her pink bed.

From an early age, Lila had always had an affinity for the color pink, so when she moved into her own room, she took it upon herself to paint the entire room pink, pink, and more pink.

Wearing a pink bathrobe and slippers to withstand the cold of another morning in her home, Lila slowly walks down the stairs to the dining room, where she finds her mother, Shaila, preparing pancakes, her 9-year-old brother Milo, eating his pancakes and bacon, and her father Elias watching the newspaper sitting next to his son with a plate of breakfast in front of him.

Shaila looks back to see her weak daughter walking with baby steps towards the kitchen. "Good morning, my love," Shalia says in her best voice of empathy for her daughter. "Come, your breakfast is ready."

Lila just nods slowly as she changes her course to continue moving towards the side of the table where her father and brother would not sit in their seat.

Shaila finally approaches the dough with two plates of pancakes, one for her and one for poor Lila. She notices her husband's worried face and asks as she sits down, "Did something happen, honey?"

"It's something I'm reading here," Elias says, still with the newspaper covering his face and reading, "For the last few days, the company "Audiora Technologies" has been at the center of controversy due to reports from some users saying that the hearing aid devices were defective…"

"Really? "Shaila says.

"Well, yes." Elias lowers the newspaper to show his face to the family, also showing his blue reading glasses. "There are a lot of people upset about that"

"I don't blame them," Milo joins in. "I'd also be upset if someone gave me something that didn't work."

As the conversation continued, Lila only had the energy to use her fork and eat her pancakes. Her throat is at its worst. An attempt to speak or swallow means a brief moment of pain, so she just decides to listen to the conversation while eating her breakfast.

"How is it possible that a company this big could release a defective product?" Shaila asks.

"Because people are stupid," Milo says

"Or because they are sick with greed, "Elias adds.

"!" Lila immediately looks at her father with a frown as she understood what he did.

"Wow, how smart," Shaila says with a frown, like her daughter looking at her husband

"I'm right anyway," Elias jokes as he brings a piece of pancake to his mouth.

"At least we don't need hearing aids…" Milo says, playing with the scrambled egg with his fork before raising an eyebrow and saying, "No?"

"No, not really," Shaila speaks to her son. "But a little empathy wouldn't hurt us"

"Yes, but…" Elias says, "I hate being that kind of person, but we have to be thankful that we don't need any help of that kind."

"I agree. It's a good thing that the princess and prince of the house are healthy, "Shaila says while stroking the sick Lila's head.

"Wow, Mom," Lila thinks with her eyes half-closed at her mother's irony.

"Well, moving on to more important matters," Elias leans towards his Son and says," How was your first day at Glasshouse with Miss Calypso?"

"Oh, it went great…"Milo continues talking happily while Lila slowly distances herself from the conversation to focus on her breakfast.

Of course, empathy and good luck wishes to the poor souls of the dogs who had a faulty device.

But for now…She has to get better if she wants to go to school and enjoy the school experience she secretly longed for in Glasshouse.

Bingo doesn't know it...but she's going to love middle school life

In fact...how is she doing?

Not one of my best chapters, but Lila had to come out sooner or later, after all she is one of the main characters.

Ok, this month I'm going to focus on this fic, best case scenario. When it's new year we'll have 3-4 chapters.
